Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website. Contact kellyapplegate.advocates@gmail.comfor more information or to adopt the pet.Sadly, I'm rehoming my sweet, female, small, terrier mix Rizzo. I've been fostering her for 2 1/2 months, and she has come a long way but she really needs a friend. She's potty-trained, leash-trained, and takes a bit to warm up to people but once she does she is so snuggly and will follow you everywhere. She loves other dogs and animals too.
Read more about Rizzo
She's about 3 years old and weighs 12 lbs. She is spayed, and she has had all of her initial shots and comes with vet records. She must be placed with someone with another dog in the house because she has a lot of energy and needs a buddy (preferably another small dog). She doesn't like being left alone but does not mess with anything when she is. She's always ready for long hikes and playing. Having a fenced in yard would be great too. Asking for a $300 rehoming fee for vet expenses, and she will come with her toys, bed and harness. Please let me know at kellyapplegate.advocates@gmail.com if you are interested, and we can schedule a meet and greet! I'm hoping to get her settled into her new home as soon as possible as I want her to bond with her new family. Also, If cost is a barrier, I'm sure there's something we can work out as long as it's a good fit!

Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website. Text (702) 528-8073 for more information or to adopt the pet.Myla is a sweet, but shy 3.5-year-old Dutch Shepard mix. This precious pup loves to be outside, whether that's walking or playing with other dogs at the dog park! She's a little nervous/shy about meeting new people, but once she warms up to you she's a little bundle of love! One of the main recommendations we can request for Myla is that she has another pup she can play with and/or a yard where she can burn out her zoomies appropriately. Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website. Email clarevirnoche@gmail.com or text 6085164560 for more information or to adopt the pet.Willie is a 3-year-old mixed-breed silly goose who loves to frolic in fields, splash in rivers and snuggle his humans. Willie is 43 lbs of energy and incredibly smart. He will need lots of chews, toys and puzzles. It would be best for Willie to go to a home without any young children as he is loud, fast and still working on his impulse control.
Read more about Willie
Willie will need a home that’s understanding of his anxiety, too. He struggles when people come and go from the house and will bark loudly when he’s anxious. He is a very vocal dog and is not afraid to speak his mind. In the past, he’s enjoyed using speech buttons to communicate with his humans. Willie knows the commands sit, stay, leave it, drop it, off, down, settle, wait, paw and come, and is completely house-trained. Willie walks well on leash, but will bark and pull when he sees other dogs. He was crate-trained for the first 2 years of his life, but doesn’t use a crate anymore. During the work day, he stays home alone without issue and at night he sleeps on the couch. Willie currently lives with a 5-year-old dog and loves playing with his dog friends. Willie’s pushy, rough and tumble play style is not for everyone, so any future dog siblings would need to schedule a play date first. Willie is a great adventure buddy and will gladly hop in the car with you to go exploring. He is a Velcro dog who just wants to be near his humans. Even though Willie has extra needs, he loves hard and will be your loyal best friend that wants to curl up under a blanket with you at the end of each day. Please email clarevirnoche@gmail.com or text 6085164560 to ask any questions or set up a time to meet this goofball.

15. Lady
Adult · Female · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

See Courtesy Posting Disclaimer *
Hi, my name is Lady. I am a 3-year-old black Lab. I am in foster in Knoxville, Tennessee, from Texoma Dog Ranch Rescue in Texas. I was stressed out at the Dog Ranch being in kennels all the time and around a lot of loud dogs, so I was lucky enough to find a foster. I am a really sweet and smart girl.
I weigh 54 pounds, and I have been spayed and fully vetted, and even have a health certificate. I will come with 3 months heartworm preventative and 3 months flea and tick control. I know some basic commands, and I am house-trained and crate-trained. And I do not get on the furniture.
Read more about Lady
I do have a little bit of a fear of men but it doesn't take me long with some understanding to start to feel comfortable. I have been in my foster home for a little over a week, and I have really started coming out of my shell... oh, and by the way, I am dog-friendly, as my foster has two little dachshunds.
I would do well in just about any home, but preferably without younger kids, as I am quite large and might accidentally bump into one. I would absolutely love a home that was active and could take me on lots of walks and hikes, as I do really good on a leash and do not pull. I really hope I can find my forever home! If somebody will just give me a chance and let me get comfortable and get over my fears, I will do great. I promise I am a kind, gentle soul and will love you forever.
I would also love a fenced in yard to play in and run Zoomies. My foster has a privacy fence which is perfect, but I think as long as your fence is 5 feet or higher I will do fine and not try to escape, I promise. Is there anyone out there that will give me a chance? I was rescued from a shelter a day before I was supposed to be euthanized due to space, so I know I have a purpose for someone out there. For more information on me please email texomadogcoordinator@gmail.com. Also applications can be found at www.texomadogrescue.com

Adult · Female · Redbone Coonhound / Mixed

Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue. Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website. Contact Amy at 404-933-9913 for more information or to adopt the pet.Edith is a redbone coonhound mix. The vet thinks she is about 1.5 years old, and her current weight is 44 pounds. We had her spayed, and she is up to date on her vaccinations. She was dumped on a forest service road in rural Murphy, NC where she had been seen by multiple people for 3 days. It was obvious that she had recently given birth to a litter of puppies.
Read more about Edith
We brought her home and have given her a chance at a good life until finding her a permanent placement. Our house is full with 4 dogs! She has been learning basic commands and is about 95% housetrained. She stays in a crate at night and while we aren't home. Her crate will go with her when she finds a new family. What we love about Edith is that she was drawn to us immediately. She cuddles and snuggles whenever she gets the chance. She and our other rescued female are like long lost sisters - true BFFS. She has a very funny personality and an old soul. We think she probably drank bourbon and smoked cigars in a previous life. Edith's favorites are nyla bones, any kind of dog food and treats. She takes lots of naps, either on a sofa or near a major appliance that puts out heat - the bottom of the fridge or right next to the oven when we're cooking. Because she is a hound, Edith loves to sniff out critters outside. She is relentless and sniffs until she is exhausted. Behaviors that Edith is working on are sharing bones and toys with others, trying to resist reaching for food on the counter, and personal space. She will sit on top of people if she doesn't see available space elsewhere. She also pretends that her legs don't work when she's comfortable, and it's time for bed. My husband often carries her like a baby to tuck her in. Edith will do best in a home with another female dog or as an only dog. We are unsure about children, but she has proven to adore people she has met. She must have a solid fenced yard, as she will test the limits and try to go on a hunting adventure. Please meet her in person if you think she might be a good candidate for your family. Please call Amy at 404-933-9913 if you would like more info on Edith or would like to arrange to meet her.

Itzel is a little spitfire that enjoys life in true Weinerschnitzel fashion. She loves to play with other dogs, go on car rides and make new friends. Itzel is mostly housetrained and will use a pee pad if you miss her signals. She is insistant on sleeping under the covers in your bed. If you have ever had a dachshund, you know that burrowing under the covers is a must. She is a busy body and loves to be underfoot so as not to miss out on anything going on. Itzel has only been in her foster home for a week but she is learning the routine and finding her voice. She is very excitable and vocal when she plays with the other dogs and will tell you how excited she is when it's time to go for a car ride but overall I would not say that she is too yappy.Itzel is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and started on monthly flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

24. Belle
Puppy · Female · Staffordshire Bull Terrier (short coat)

Hi, I'm Belle! I was born on May 25th, one of six puppies in my litter. I don't remember much from those early days, except that nobody was really watching out for us. My brothers and sisters and I kept wandering into the road — it was scary, and dangerous, and we didn't know any better. Some kind neighborhood kids started keeping an eye on us, making sure we stayed safe. And then one day, a neighbor with a good heart took all of us in. I don't know where I'd be without that kindness. Now let me tell you who I am, because I think I'm pretty special, in my own little way. Not only am I a pretty little girl with speckles on my feet and chest, I'm a watcher.
Read more about Belle
I like to sit somewhere with a good view and take it all in — the birds, the wind in the grass, whatever's happening down the street. Nothing gets past me. I have a feeling I'd make a wonderful watchdog someday, keeping a careful eye over the people and things I love most. But don't let my quiet, watchful side fool you — the second there's a chance to play, I am pure joy on four legs. Playful, outgoing, sweet all the way through.I adore my toys more than almost anything. Give me something to carry around, chew on, or toss in the air, and I am the happiest girl alive. And when playtime's over? I want nothing more than to curl up close and soak in all the attention and cuddles you'll give me. I love deeply, and I love easily, and I've got so much of it saved up just waiting for the right person. My dream — my whole dream — is a home with a fenced-in yard where I can watch over my little corner of the world, play until I'm worn out, and then collapse into someone's lap for all the love and attention I could ever want.I don't want to wait much longer for that dream to come true. I've already watched some of my brothers and sisters find their families, and every time, my heart gets a little more hopeful and a little more impatient. Please — if you have room for a watchful, playful, endlessly loving girl like me, I need you to find me soon.I promise I'll be worth the wait, and worth every bit of the love you give me.Love,Belle Fenced in yard is required.***When puppies and kittens are adopted before being fixed, they MUST be adopted in East Tennessee. If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. Adult · Male · Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Bart and Spot are brother and sister, just under a year old as of late August, 2026. They were rescued from the road and have been fully vaccinated, had Bravecta in late June, and are on Interceptor Plus for heartworm prevention. They have been spayed and neutered as well.
They are medium-sized, possible Lab mixes, but smaller, and are at their full adult size at about 30 pounds each. They are mostly housetrained, but still have occasional accidents, mainly because they don't get taken out often enough.
Bart and Spot have a wonderful, sweet disposition with me and love human contact.
Read more about Bart
They love each other and play well, but they can be adopted separately. I have not personally tested them with toddlers or cats, but they should be fine with other friendly dogs.
They have had someconflict with the older dog in the home, but it began because of one of them, being the puppies that they are, tried to steal his chew, and subsequent separation from him has created more tensions. Until that point they had all gotten along for a couple of weeks with no issues.
These sweet young dogs very much need to find forever homes soon and will be loving companions for one or more lucky families. Please text or email 865-803-8164 / terryross369@att.net. Calls are screened, so be sure to text first. [Posted 9/3/2026]

URGENT: Buddy Needs a Foster Home RIGHT NOW
URGENT: Buddy Needs a Foster Home RIGHT NOW or Forever Home
Hi. I'm Buddy.
I have something to tell you, and I need you to really hear it, because my story has a brand-new chapter.
But first, let me tell you how it started. I did something unforgivable. Something so bad that the people who were supposed to love me forever decided I wasn't worth keeping anymore.
I grew up.
That's it. That was my crime. I was born back in early 2023 and adopted as a wide-eyed puppy who thought he'd finally found his people, his forever family. And for a while, I believed it.

But puppies don't stay puppies, and somewhere along the way, I stopped being cute and convenient and started being... unwanted.
I want you to know the truth, because I think somebody should. My nails grew long because nobody took me anywhere to have them trimmed. My meals weren't good ones, or regular ones. Most of my life happened inside a crate, a crate that didn't even have a bottom to it. I didn't do anything to deserve that. No dog does. I promise you, with everything in me, that I did nothing wrong except get a little bigger and a little older.
But guess what? Somebody finally showed up for me.
For the first time in a long time, I've got someone in my corner. I'm out of that crate and away from the home that forgot about me. And then, oh, then came the best part. I got the full spa treatment: brushed, bathed, and beautified from nose to tail. I'm not trying to brag, but... man, am I handsome! Wait until you see me. I hold my head a little higher now.
And here's the thing: through all of it, I never stopped being me. I'm still the sweetest, most loving boy you'll ever meet. I love everyone I meet. I've got an eternal good nature in me, the kind that doesn't quit no matter what. Even on the hard days, I was a happy boy. Now that life is getting better, just imagine how much happiness I've got to give.
Here's what I still dream about: a yard with a fence, just so I can run, really run, the way dogs are supposed to. Somebody to scratch behind my ears and mean it. A soft place to sleep that's all mine. Attention. Cuddles. A home where I'm allowed to just be a good dog, because that's all I've ever tried to be.I've waited my whole life for my turn. I think it's finally my time to shine.
Will you be my forever family? Will you show me what real love looks like, for keeps this time? Because I promise you: the second you do, I'll show you right back, without hesitation, without holding anything back. That's just who I am.I'm ready. Are you?
Love,Buddy
I've started being brought up on my vetting.

Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue. Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website. Contact cassieann678@gmail.com for more information or to adopt the pet.Meet Magnolia (Nola)! She is a three-year-old, F2 flat-coated Aussiedoodle! Magnolia is wonderful at matching your energy and lifestyle. If you’re someone who loves being outdoors, she’ll happily be your companion all day long. But if you’re having a slow day inside, she’s just as content to curl up and nap right beside you. She’s incredibly loving and affectionate, especially with the people she knows and trusts.
Read more about Magnolia
Magnolia absolutely loves giving hugs—she would snuggle all day if she could. She truly thrives on connection and loves both her human and dog friends. Right now, she especially enjoys being around her doggie half-sister.Because of her playful, energetic nature, we believe Magnolia would do best in a home with either another dog or just a family that can give her plenty of time, attention and activity. She would probably thrive on her own if she’s getting her needs met. She’s used to having a companion, so being completely alone all day would not be a good fit. A home with a fenced yard or plenty of outdoor space would be ideal, as she loves to run and would benefit from having more room to burn off her energy. She has lived with our two-year-old and has always been very sweet and gentle, though she can be a bit clumsy and can accidentally knock ove little ones. She has previously lived with a cat and did well, and she currently lives alongside chickens and goats and doesn't bother them much. As with any transition, slow introductions to new animals would be best.Magnolia is house-trained and knows basic commands. However, she would greatly benefit from additional training and consistency. With a young child and another dog at home, we haven’t been able to dedicate the time and structure she truly needs. We believe she is capable of change, but we haven't had luck with the little obedience trianing we've given her... we believe she would thrive with professional training or a home committed to working with her.She has a mischievous side—she’s known to sneak food from counters or tables and will chew on items left out when unattended for long periods of time. With proper training and attention, we believe these things she can improve. Again, sadly we just haven't been able to put in the work. Magnolia is spayed, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations and in excellent health. She is such a loving, sweet dog who deserves a home that can give her the time, structure and space she needs to truly thrive.Contacat me today at cassieann678@gmail.com to meet or learn more about sweet Magnolia!

30. Biscuit
Adult · Male · Cairn Terrier / Mixed

Biscuit is a sweet little terrier mix who came to us from Cherokee. He has opened up so much during his time with us and continues to grow more confident every day.He can still be a little shy when meeting new people, but he absolutely loves other dogs and gains a lot of comfort from them. He is fine around other dogs until it comes to meal time, where he is usually fed separately. He loves to play outside, and walks pretty well on leash. He could happily live with other dogs or be your one and only. Biscuit is still working on potty training but is making progress and will likely continue to improve quickly with consistency and positive reinforcement.Biscuit is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. He is about 7.5 years old and 20 pounds. His adoption fee is $250 and you can apply to adopt at mpravl.org

Adopting a dog in Sevier County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
