1. Ripley

Puppy (3 months 28 days) · Female · Great Pyrenees / Husky (medium coat) · 31 mi from North Ogden

When we saw this sweet girl being rehomed on FB as a Husky, we knew we could see Pyr in her too and wanted to get her into rescue where she'd find a forever home. Little did we know then that she's already seen at least 3 other homes.

Ripley has moved so much already that she hasn't had anyone work with her on just the basics. So now that she's in a foster home we can start that! House training and basic manners are a work in progress.

She has had no shots so leashed walks have to wait. She is full of energy though like all puppies are and would likely really love another dog to play with.

Looking for the perfect Pyr? Well Princess comes close! Surrendered for being a bit of a wanderer, what Pyr isn't?! Princess hasn't met a person or critter she doesn't like, so far!

We were told this lovely lady has been around cats, goats and chickens and only been an outside dog, but we are not looking for a working home for her. Since coming to rescue she enjoys being inside, sheltered and getting as much affection as possible!

Princess is a huge favorite when she goes to visit the senior center. She is calm and gentle with everyone she visits.

17. Fledermaus

Adult · Male · French Bulldog · 36 mi from North Ogden

Meet Fledermaus! A Little Frenchie with a Big Presence ❤️Fledermaus is a 4.5-year-old, 19-pound French Bulldog with a sweet personality, a funny little face, and a whole lot of love to give. He enjoys naps, treats, leisurely strolls around the yard, and rubbing up against his favorite people for affection. He also has a way of staring right into your soul that is equal parts hilarious and adorable!Fledermaus is looking for a special home with someone who understands that, like many French Bulldogs, he has some ongoing health needs. He takes daily medications, eats prescription food, and requires regular veterinary care to keep him comfortable and healthy.

Read more about Fledermaus

His adopter should be prepared for continued vet visits, consistent daily care, and the possibility that his needs may change over time.Fledermaus has had surgery to open his nasal passages but remains prone to sinus infections. He also has urinary crystals that require lifelong prescription food and monitoring, an enlarged heart managed with daily medication, and chronic eye problems that require daily eye drops. He has some vision loss, along with a head tilt and occasional moments of seeming to space out that may indicate a neurological issue. His future family will need to stay on top of his care and work with their veterinarian to address any new concerns.Personality-wise, Fledermaus is a pretty easygoing little dude. He warms up quickly to people but generally prefers to observe new visitors rather than make a big fuss. He's quiet, does well in a crate, rides nicely in the car, and enjoys a low-key lifestyle. Walks are leisurely affairs, and sometimes he decides he'd rather not go any farther! House training has been a challenge, so his adopter will need patience and a plan for helping him with consistent potty routines. He generally gets along well with other dogs. Sometimes he'll engage in a little wrestling session, but most of the time he's happy to do his own thing. He could live with other dogs or be an only pet. He would ignore cats, too. Fledermaus gets overly excited about treats and may bite when trying to grab food from people's hands, even when no treat is present. For this reason, he is not recommended for a home with children.Fledermaus would thrive in a calm, predictable home with an adopter who has experience with dogs requiring medical care and in particular, brachycephalic dogs and is prepared to manage his ongoing medical care. He needs someone who will keep up with his daily treatments, recognize when something seems off, and make his comfort and well-being a priority. In return, you'll get a funny, affectionate little companion who loves being near his people, enjoys the simple things in life, and will happily make you laugh with his expressions and quirky noises.Fledermaus isn't asking for a perfect home. He's asking for a committed one. If you have the experience, patience, and resources to give this special little Frenchie the care he needs, he may be the perfect match for you!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. She’ll likely be a medium-sized dog, around 35–40 lbs when full grown, though that’s just an estimate. She’s a sweet, energetic puppy who loves everyone she meets and is always ready for pets, playtime, and cuddles. Just be prepared for a little kitchen helper who may try to put her paws on the counters!Bella would love a home with another playful dog or a family ready to keep her busy with plenty of activities, exercise, and mental stimulation. She enjoys playing with dogs her size but can feel intimidated by bigger dogs.

A fenced yard would be ideal, though apartment life could work with consistent leash training and enough exercise. She’s still building her confidence and learning the ropes of being a dog. When something feels new or scary, she likes to tuck herself between your legs for reassurance. She’s learning to walk on a leash and becoming more independent as she gains confidence. With patience, positive reinforcement, and continued training, she has the potential to become a wonderful adventure buddy!Like any puppy, Bella is still working on her manners. She’s nearly through the teething stage and needs guidance toward appropriate chew toys instead of people. She enjoys both soft and hard things to chew, and she’s recently discovered how fun balls can be! She’s even learning to bring them back. The good news? Bella is picking up house training quickly and is already about 98% there! She may still have an occasional accident if left unsupervised too long, so she’ll need frequent potty breaks and supervision as she continues learning. She does well in her crate when you leave the house and will sleep in it through the night, letting you know if she needs to go outside. Of course, she’d much rather snuggle up with you, even if that means sleeping right on top of you at first!Bella is a bit of a Velcro puppy who loves being close to her people, but she’s also learning to explore the world on her own. She has the perfect combination of playful energy and serious snuggle-bug potential. Her experience with children is unknown.Bella is looking for someone who will help her grow into the confident, well-mannered dog she’s meant to be. With love, training, and a little patience, this sweet girl could become your favorite hiking buddy, playmate, and couch companion. She’s ready to love hard, play hard, and find her very own soul person! ❤️Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $300. 19. Shay

Adult · Female · Chihuahua / Mixed · 36 mi from North Ogden

Meet Shay! Inside the house, I am an absolute dream — a sweet, loving, and fun 2-year-old, 12-lb Chihuahua who is ready to find my forever family! I used to be called Shadow because I love to stick right by your side. In fact, my favorite thing in the world is to sleep right next to you on a pillow or cuddle in your lap for some TV time! I am also a secret athlete—if you throw a soft plushy toy, I will happily retrieve it for you and I frequently get the zoomies.I get along with other dogs and cats, once I've had time to settle in and feel comfortable. At first, I can be nervous and a little snappy until I know they are friends not foe.

While I am a total cuddle bug indoors, the big wide world outside still feels pretty scary to me right now. Every tiny noise makes me look over my shoulder, so I am still working hard on my outdoor potty training. Because the outside world intimidates me, I need a patient adopter who understands the 3-3-3 rule of dog rescue. I don't love to be left alone for long and will cry when left, so a home without shared walls would be best. With a predictable routine, a furry sibling to show me the ropes, and a little time to decompress, I know my confidence will bloom! If you are looking for a loyal, plushy-retrieving shadow to keep you company, I’m ready to meet you!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Adopting a dog in North Ogden

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
