1. Osa

Young · Male · Irish Setter / Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed · 11 mi from Taylorsville

Meet Osa, a lovable 8-month-old Irish Doodle weighing in at about 50 lbs! This curious, happy-go-lucky boy approaches the world with an open heart and a wagging tail, eager to explore every new sight, sound, and smell. Osa is wonderfully resilient, bouncing back from new experiences with an easygoing confidence that makes him a joy to be around. He is already a total pro on a leash, making daily walks a breeze, and we are making great progress on house-training and crate training with him. Osa adores other dogs and would truly thrive in a home with a canine buddy to play and wrestle with. He has also been exposed to cats and is learning to respect their boundaries, so a patient feline friend could be a possibility with continued guidance.

Read more about Osa

Because he is still a big, bouncy puppy, he would do best with kids over the age of 5 who are sturdy enough not to be easily knocked over by his enthusiasm. Osa does have some separation anxiety, so he is looking for attentive owners who can help him build confidence when he is on his own. A furry sibling for company, a consistent routine, and plenty of patience will go a long way in helping him feel safe and secure. As a young dog, Osa will flourish with continued positive training and lots of love. If you are looking for a curious, cuddly, and resilient pup to grow alongside your family, Osa is ready to meet you and steal your heart!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Meet Sugar! Sugar is an 8-year-old Pug/Chihuahua mix weighing about 25 pounds, and she's a little sweetheart who just needs someone willing to let her blossom at her own pace. Sugar is a shy girl who takes time to warm up to new people, but once she feels safe, she'll become your little shadow and a loyal companion.Sugar is happiest lounging on the couch with her favorite people. She's a low-energy girl who doesn't ask for much beyond a cozy spot, some companionship, and plenty of snuggles. She's also a very well-mannered houseguest, house-trained, and crate-trained (although she'd much rather be out enjoying your company!).Sugar gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is also fine with cats, whom she mostly ignores.

She can be startled by unfamiliar noises and may bark at visitors, but she'll generally keep her distance until she feels comfortable. Because of her timid nature, a home with young children probably isn't the best fit.One thing to know about Sugar is that the outside world can be intimidating. She's nervous on a leash and will need a patient adopter willing to help her build confidence through gentle, positive experiences. She's treat-motivated, which should help with continued training and encouragement.Sugar has had a big change in her life after spending four years in a home, and she's understandably feeling a little uncertain. But even when she's scared, she continues to show that she wants to trust people. Once she does, you'll discover her adorable little prance when she's excited and her sweet habit of gently reaching out with a paw when you stop petting her, as if to say, "Excuse me, I'm not finished!"Sugar is looking for a quiet, mellow home with a patient person who understands that love and trust sometimes take a little time. In return, she'll give you a devoted little shadow and a whole lot of love. ❤️Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. 8. Tobleroni

Young (8 months) · Male · Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat) · 15 mi from Taylorsville

Who has four legs, one floppy ear, spots, and is ready to leap into your arms - I mean home? It's me, Tobleroni!

Read more about Tobleroni

I am a six-month-old Australian Cattle Dog and am looking for a family that can help me navigate this big world. I am still a little nervous with new sounds and things, but after the initial shock of new sights, I leap headfirst with excitement. I am learning quickly what I can and can't rush into. For example, I know I can't rush at the cat, and now we are nice playful pals, but I can rush towards the ball and play fetch! I am really fast in the backyard and love to run around with other dogs. I also love the support of humans as I learn so many new things!

I am learning some basics, like leash training, sit, off, and come. I definitely need to keep learning because I get pets and treats when I do. It also helps me use up energy and use my mind, which is important for me since I have a lot of energy and am pretty smart. I really like other dogs, but since this is all new to me, I need my own space for my toys and food at home. I love my kennel and only bark in there if I need to alert people to a frightening presence, like the mailman. I would do well as an only dog or with others, or even with a dog-savvy cat! Although I am a puppy and like to hop around, I am still a softy at heart and would do well with kids.

I can't wait to meet you! Apply today.

10. Fledermaus

Adult · Male · French Bulldog · 11 mi from Taylorsville

Meet Fledermaus! A Little Frenchie with a Big Presence ❤️Fledermaus is a 4.5-year-old, 19-pound French Bulldog with a sweet personality, a funny little face, and a whole lot of love to give. He enjoys naps, treats, leisurely strolls around the yard, and rubbing up against his favorite people for affection. He also has a way of staring right into your soul that is equal parts hilarious and adorable!Fledermaus is looking for a special home with someone who understands that, like many French Bulldogs, he has some ongoing health needs. He takes daily medications, eats prescription food, and requires regular veterinary care to keep him comfortable and healthy.

Read more about Fledermaus

His adopter should be prepared for continued vet visits, consistent daily care, and the possibility that his needs may change over time.Fledermaus has had surgery to open his nasal passages but remains prone to sinus infections. He also has urinary crystals that require lifelong prescription food and monitoring, an enlarged heart managed with daily medication, and chronic eye problems that require daily eye drops. He has some vision loss, along with a head tilt and occasional moments of seeming to space out that may indicate a neurological issue. His future family will need to stay on top of his care and work with their veterinarian to address any new concerns.Personality-wise, Fledermaus is a pretty easygoing little dude. He warms up quickly to people but generally prefers to observe new visitors rather than make a big fuss. He's quiet, does well in a crate, rides nicely in the car, and enjoys a low-key lifestyle. Walks are leisurely affairs, and sometimes he decides he'd rather not go any farther! House training has been a challenge, so his adopter will need patience and a plan for helping him with consistent potty routines. He generally gets along well with other dogs. Sometimes he'll engage in a little wrestling session, but most of the time he's happy to do his own thing. He could live with other dogs or be an only pet. He would ignore cats, too. Fledermaus gets overly excited about treats and may bite when trying to grab food from people's hands, even when no treat is present. For this reason, he is not recommended for a home with children.Fledermaus would thrive in a calm, predictable home with an adopter who has experience with dogs requiring medical care and in particular, brachycephalic dogs and is prepared to manage his ongoing medical care. He needs someone who will keep up with his daily treatments, recognize when something seems off, and make his comfort and well-being a priority. In return, you'll get a funny, affectionate little companion who loves being near his people, enjoys the simple things in life, and will happily make you laugh with his expressions and quirky noises.Fledermaus isn't asking for a perfect home. He's asking for a committed one. If you have the experience, patience, and resources to give this special little Frenchie the care he needs, he may be the perfect match for you!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Hi world, meet Hollis!

The sweetest 5-year-old male Chihuahua mix.

We're not sure what the first five years of Hollis' life were like, but it's clear they weren't easy. He came to us skin and bones, afraid of human touch and scared of just about everything.

So, we got to work on socializing him! We're happy to say that, even though Hollis is still cautious and will likely always be a bit of a scaredy-cat, he's doing SO well! He gets along great with dogs, cats, chickens, and goats. He even tries to initiate play with other dogs!

Hollis bonds HARD with his human and will happily be your little shadow wherever you go. He loves sleeping under the covers at your feet, curling up in your lap, or lounging on the back of the couch while keeping an eye on the neighborhood.

He's crate-trained, potty-trained on a schedule, and has excellent house manners. He's full grown at about 12lbs, but his goal weight is more like 15.

Hollis is a fairly quiet boy, but get the pitch just right, and he'll happily howl along with music or squeaky toys!

It's been such a joy watching this sweet boy come out of his shell and flourish. And now that he's blossoming, it's time for him to find his special people!

to know each other and settle into my new life. Let me tell you a little bit about myself.

I am a 10 to 12 months old (best guess) male terrier mix and I weigh in at about 10 pounds.

kind of mix I am how can you not love my cute little expressive face and those ears? My

hair is pretty soft and I am getting used to being brushed. I am working really hard on my

house training and doing very well if kept on a schedule so a family that will continue my training will help me to be the bestest boy I can be. I have not been around kids yet, but I have never meet a stranger. Kids over 10 would be fine! I have figured out the routine here in my foster home and I sleep quietly through the night in my kennel. I love playing with the other dogs and I am even learning to play with toys but my favorite is chewing on the bones.

I am so happy that I even smile, that's right a big cheesy grin! The first time I smiled at foster Mom she thought I was snarling but nope, it is a real smile! Foster Mom says I like to talk to you as well, and why not? I have a lot to say. When I watch TV I tilt my head from side to side trying to figure out the plot of the show. I am pretty smart if I do say so myself so if you are looking for a quick study that is loyal as can be I may be the man for the job.

Adult · Female · Chihuahua / Mixed · 11 mi from Taylorsville

Meet Shay! Inside the house, I am an absolute dream — a sweet, loving, and fun 2-year-old, 12-lb Chihuahua who is ready to find my forever family! I used to be called Shadow because I love to stick right by your side. In fact, my favorite thing in the world is to sleep right next to you on a pillow or cuddle in your lap for some TV time! I am also a secret athlete—if you throw a soft plushy toy, I will happily retrieve it for you and I frequently get the zoomies.I get along with other dogs and cats, once I've had time to settle in and feel comfortable. At first, I can be nervous and a little snappy until I know they are friends not foe.

While I am a total cuddle bug indoors, the big wide world outside still feels pretty scary to me right now. Every tiny noise makes me look over my shoulder, so I am still working hard on my outdoor potty training. Because the outside world intimidates me, I need a patient adopter who understands the 3-3-3 rule of dog rescue. I don't love to be left alone for long and will cry when left, so a home without shared walls would be best. With a predictable routine, a furry sibling to show me the ropes, and a little time to decompress, I know my confidence will bloom! If you are looking for a loyal, plushy-retrieving shadow to keep you company, I’m ready to meet you!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. 22. Wink

Young · Female · Chihuahua / Mixed · 11 mi from Taylorsville

Hi, I'm Wink! I'm a one-year-old pup, and I'm ready to find my forever home. I'm goofy, energetic, lovable, and full of personality—with a busy little nose that is always on the hunt for snacks! My kind of company: I absolutely love other dogs and would thrive in a home with a friendly canine companion. Cats and other small, furry critters, however, aren't for me. A little about my personality: I'm shy with new people and need time to feel safe. Patience, gentle interactions, and positive reinforcement are essential. I'm worth getting to know, but I need a family willing to let me settle in at my own pace.

Read more about Wink

I'm a smart cookie! I'm learning basic commands, walking nicely on a leash, and am housebroken. I'm very food motivated, so snuffle mats, puzzle toys, and lick mats keep my clever brain busy. Let's go adventuring! I enjoy long walks, dog parks, and hikes. I also love bones, crinkle toys, and disassembling furry toys. Every girl needs a hobby!️ Snuggles are my specialty. After bursts of puppy energy, I love lounging on comfy furniture, snoozing while you read or watch TV, and inviting myself onto your bed. My ideal home: I prefer hanging out with my people. I need companionship, exercise, enrichment, and appropriate chew toys. I can get into mischief when bored, and shoes left lying around are fair game in my puppy brain. I wouldn't do well if left alone all day.I'm recently spayed, thriving on fresh dog food, and awaiting my Embark DNA results. Stay tuned! I’m 21 pounds and 15” to the withers. Could you be my person? I'm looking for a patient, dog-savvy family with time to help me build confidence. I may not be an instant social butterfly, but with kindness, consistency, and time, I have so much potential. If you appreciate a quirky little adventure buddy who doubles as a couch snuggler, I might just be your girl!Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. 23. Jasper

Young · Male · Shepherd / Mixed · 11 mi from Taylorsville

Meet Jasper! Your 40-Pound Lap Dog in a German Shepherd Package Jasper is a 1-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing about 40 pounds, with a big personality and an even bigger love for cuddles! This sweet boy is convinced he’s a lap dog, and if you sit down to watch TV, don’t be surprised when he jumps up to snuggle. Kisses, belly rubs, bedtime cuddles, and being held close are all at the top of his favorite-things list!Jasper also has a playful side. He loves playing fetch, going for walks, playing with other dogs, and working on puzzles and enrichment games. He’s a smart boy who is eager to learn and already knows “sit.” He’s making great progress with his name recognition and potty training, too!Jasper is still learning the ropes when it comes to being a well-mannered housemate.

Read more about Jasper

He’s working on house training and crate training, and he may bark or whine when he’s nervous in his crate, but he settles down after a few minutes. He can also be a bit mouthy with clothes and strings, so continued training and supervision will help him learn what’s okay to chew. He does reasonably well on a leash and rides well in the car when secured with a seat belt, although he may try to climb into your lap for extra attention!Jasper warms up to people quickly, even if he initially barks at strangers. He gets along with other dogs when properly introduced, but his enthusiasm can get the best of him during playtime. He’ll need a family willing to help him learn boundaries, recognize when it’s time for a break, and continue building his social skills. His compatibility with cats and children is currently unknown. This energetic, affectionate boy would love an active home that can provide about 1–2 hours of exercise daily, plenty of enrichment, and lots of opportunities to play and learn. A fenced yard would be a bonus, though an apartment could work with enough exercise and long walks.Jasper is still a young dog figuring out how to be his best self. He’ll need a family with patience, consistency, and a willingness to continue his training—but in return, you’ll get a devoted cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to be part of your world.Think you have room on your lap for Jasper? He’s ready to find a family who will help him grow into the amazing companion he’s meant to be! ❤️Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. 25. Naylani

Young (6 months) · Female · Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 15 mi from Taylorsville

NAYLANI, THE GENTLEST LIONESS IN THE PRIDE

Hi, I'm Naylani. I'm 6 months old, and I've been told I look like a little lioness, with a sunny golden coat and soulful eyes. Don't let the mane fool you, though. I'm all heart.

My days follow the true big-cat routine. First, I zoom across the savanna (okay, the backyard). Then I play until I'm tuckered out. Finally, I curl up in your lap for snuggles and belly rubs. I'm still growing into my paws, so I have some adorably clumsy moments. Grace is a work in progress, but charm I've already perfected.

Pride Report:

Crate training: Doing great. My den is my safe, cozy spot.

Read more about Naylani

Potty training: Making excellent progress.

Leash skills: Coming along nicely on my walks.

Food motivated: Very. I'll happily work for snacks, which makes me a dream to train.

Other dogs: I'm easygoing and gentle, and I happily share my toys.

Cats: I haven't met any yet.

A lioness sticks close to her pride. I'm a loyal girl who likes to keep my people in sight, and I can get a little worried when you leave the room. When something feels new or scary, I come straight to my humans for reassurance. I'm looking for someone patient who will help me build my confidence and show me that alone time is okay, because you always come back.

I'll thrive with continued training, structure, and routine in a loving home. In return, you'll get a devoted, gentle companion who thinks you hung the moon.

Hi, I'm Jetsam, but my friends call me Jet!

I'm about a 6 month old cattle dog mix, and I'm here to find a family to call my own! I weigh around 25 pounds right now, and I'll keep growing a bit more to be a good medium sized dog. I'm already neutered, so I'm all set to go home. I've got a mostly white coat, a tan and brown patch over half my face like a little pirate mask, soft floppy ears, and a big black nose that's always ready to sniff out what you're up to. You'll find some little tan polka dots hiding under my white coat too.

Read more about Jetsam

I'm a normal adventurous puppy who loves to explore, and I can't wait to learn how to be the perfect dog. I'm very playful with my fellow foster dogs of all ages and sizes and would love a canine buddy to romp with, but I also like my alone time by myself. A home with or without another dog would be just fine with me.

I've never met a kid or cats before but my foster family thinks I may do just fine with proper training and structure!

Oh by the way, my crate and potty training have already been started and so far I'm excelling at potty training and will tolerate my crate once I remember it's my safe spot I get to rest in!

If you're looking for a fun young pup to go on adventures and grow up with, I'd love to meet you. Please submit an application with Rescue Rovers, and let's start our life together!

28. Tally

Young (5 months 17 days) · Female · Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 15 mi from Taylorsville

Hi! My name is Tally! I’m a 5-month-old, 25 lb, lab mix baby girl! I’m hefty, hefty, hefty and also “OH SO LOVING!” I was built to last! You wanna run? I got you! You wanna snuggle? I’m on my way! You wanna eat lots of food together? DONE!

Read more about Tally

I’m pretty awesome around other dogs! I’m still a puppy, so I throw my weight around like I’m tiny—even though I’m built a little more like a furry paperweight. My foster mom calls me “dense.” I prefer “sturdy,” but apparently she has the dictionary on her side. I’ve had four foster brothers, and I held my own with every one of them while having LOTS of fun! My favorite buddy is a 50 lb black lab, and together we rumble, tumble, and occasionally forget where one dog ends and the other begins! I LOVE TOYS! ALL TOYS!

You know how some humans go to the bathroom in herds? That’s me! I will only go #2 in the grass if I have moral support. You don’t have to stand next to me (don’t make it weird…) but I like the bathroom “pack” mentality. I got your back, and you got mine! I’m not needy, I’m cautious during vulnerability.

Listen, I’m smart, but I’ve got a lot on my tiny plate right now—and I’m still learning how to eat off an actual plate. I’m adjusting to life behind metal bars (apparently it’s called a “crate,” not “puppy jail”), discovering that food belongs in a bowl, learning that the floor is not a bathroom, and losing teeth like it’s my part-time job. A girl can only handle so much personal growth at once… and yet, I’m still as happy as can be!

I sleep through the night for a full eight hours now, but it took some practice—and several important meetings with management. I firmly believe we should sleep in the same place, and your space always looks suspiciously like the spot I was meant to occupy. Don’t worry, I’m happy to let you borrow the edge. However, around 7pm please know that you and I will need to snuggle up close while I fall into a nice puppy slumber on your chest.

I haven’t met a cat yet, so I can’t promise I’d know the proper etiquette right away. “Gentle” is still a work in progress—I currently prefer the enthusiastic, full-body approach to friendship—but with patient introductions and a little coaching, I bet I could learn! I’d probably love kids too, especially older ones who are sturdy, playful, and won’t mind that my affection sometimes arrives at puppy speed.

So if you’re looking for a companion that snuggles as much as she eats, let’s pencil me into your schedule! Apply to meet me here: https://bit.ly/RRAdoptionApplication

55 pounds

My favorite thing in the whole world?
My people!
I love being around my humans, and when you’re home, I’m happiest just knowing you’re nearby. I don’t need you to entertain me every second — I just like being able to see my favorite people and feel like I’m part of the family. When I get tired, I tuck myself into my kennel for a long nap

I’m still a puppy, so I’m figuring out this big world! Sometimes fast-moving things like runners or loud trucks make me a little nervous. With a little reassurance and positive encouragement, I’m learning that the world isn’t such a scary place.

I’m looking for a family who will help me build my confidence and give me all the love a growing pup deserves. In return, I promise to bring you puppy kisses, loyal companionship, and a whole lot of love.

Could you be my forever person? I’ve got a lifetime of love waiting just for you.

Why adopt an adult dog in Taylorsville

An adult dog's personality is fully formed, so the rescue can tell you how they are with people, other pets and busy households. Many have lived in foster homes and are already house-trained.

Grown dogs need less supervision than puppies and often know the basics, like sitting and walking on a leash, which suits people who work or have young children.

Rescues with adult dogs near Taylorsville
