Daisy Jo is a Great Pyrenees mix that was surrendered by her owners. She is three years old, spayed, approximately 110 lbs, house broken, very healthy and up to date on vaccines.
She has always been on heart worm and flea and tick medication monthly. Her owners had her professionally groomed every three months.

She is good with other dogs, but not sure how she is with other animals, since she had only been around dogs. She is extremely gentle taking food or treats by hand but has some protectiveness when it comes to her food bowl and other dogs. No big deal feed her in her own space

11. Harriet

Adult (5 years 5 months) · Female · Great Pyrenees (long coat) · 25 mi from Ludlow

Well, well, well, it seems that our sweet “ older gal” Harriett is not so old. We were originally told 11 years old but knew that couldnt be true. Our vet estimate about 7. After an older adopter took this sweet girl home, she realized that she has a lot more energy than expected for an old dog. Her vet confirmed that she is probably closer to 5 years old. Since she was a bit too much for our older adopter so she is back and looking for a new home. She would thrive in a more active owner with a fenced in yard as she so enjoys being outside. She absolutely loves all people, especially kids. Harriet is completely house trained and takes food and treats like a lady. Her adopter says she is an absolute dream dog, with a very gentle nature, she is just more than she can handle at her age. She is quiet in the house with very little barking. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and has exposure to cats. Harriet would do best as the only dog or with a submissive laidback male. Please visit our website for more info on our adoption process and adoption application www.barkdogfarm.org

Puppy · Female · Chihuahua / Pug (short coat) · 39 mi from Ludlow

Welcome Josie to CCPAL Rescue. Josie is a Chug (Chihuahua/Pug) puppy. She weighs 4 pounds and is 9 weeks old. She will be a small dog full grown. She should be 12 pounds or less. She is very sweet and has an adorable rounded head. She likes to be held, is good in a crate, goes on a wee pad and loves to play with toys. She was born at the Rescue. They took in a stray female and she was pregnant. This means the puppies get lots of attention and are very used to being in a loud and rowdy environment. Josie would be best in a home that the person doesn’t work all day every day. She needs to finish up her puppy training. Social pups make great adults and now is the time for her to spend time with her family and to go places and let people pet her. She is an AMAZING puppy. She would be fine with children. Due to her small size, we would like children to be 8 or older. She is getting her puppy vaccines and will have 3. She will then be ready for spay and adoption. She can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

20. Waylon

Puppy · Male · Dachshund / Chihuahua (short coat) · 39 mi from Ludlow

Welcome Waylon to CCPAL Rescue. Waylon is a 6- pound Chiweenie. That is Dashchund/Chihuahua. He is 10 weeks old. He has the traditional markings of the Dashchund. He has a little longer legs and body. He is good in a crate, likes to be held. He is learning the wee pad and gets toys and treats from our adopters. He will get grooming and nail trims at the rescue so he will be fine with that. He would be a great dog for a lover of this breed. A smaller yard would be fine. He would be fine in a doggy daycare as he is very social. He was found as a stray. He is getting neutered and all his vaccinations at the Rescue. He is ready for his forever home. He would be best in a home with someone that doesn’t work all day everyday as he will need to finish up his puppy training. He would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is currently in the CCPAL Rescue in Texas. He can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200 to move him to another state. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

Adopting a dog in Ludlow

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
