11. Kemba

5 Years 9 Months · Female · Rottweiler / Mixed

Kemba was placed by the rescue in 2020. The adopters have requested our help in rehoming her.

Kemba really is a great dog with so much love to give. She's incredibly affectionate and loves being around people. Whether it's playing fetch, going for walks, or just curling up next to you on the couch, she's happiest when she's spending time with someone. One of the things we've always loved about her is how easily she adjusts to whatever we're doing. She can play ball for hours if you're up for it, but she's just as happy lounging on the couch all afternoon. She sleeps well at night, usually on the living room couch.

Read more about Kemba

She's always been great with kids, from little ones to teenagers, and gets along really well with other animals. She doesn't have any issues with resource guarding, but she definitely likes being the center of attention! If another animal is getting some love, she'll sometimes try to get your attention back on her.

About Felix:

Read more about Felix

Fall is in the air, and Felix is ready to be your ultimate pumpkin-spice sidekick! This handsome 3-year-old Rottie made the road trip up from Georgia and is fully prepared to leap into your pile of leaves (and your heart). His foster parent reports that he is a certified "good boy" and an absolute doll who just wants to cuddle. [1]

Felix is already fully house-trained and a total pro in his crate. Now, let’s talk about his true passion: snacks. Felix is insanely food-motivated. He will do absolutely anything for a treat—which means you can easily train him to do tricks, or just use biscuits to negotiate his help pulling you down the street (he's a strong boy who likes to work those leash muscles!).{C}

Friends and Family:

When it comes to other dogs, Felix is a total lady's man! He absolutely loves his canine girlfriends and prefers his four-legged companions to be female. He has also met some human kids and was wonderful and gentle with them. However, if your home includes a feline friend, Felix is going to have to pass. He thinks cats are a little too exciting, so a cat-free castle is a must.

If you are looking for a big, goofy cuddle bug to keep you warm this autumn, Felix is your guy!

She has always been on heart worm and flea and tick medication monthly. Her owners had her professionally groomed every three months.

30. King

Young (2 years 3 months) · Male · Rottweiler

Two year old King joined us after his owner died. Accompanied by his housemate, Queen, they entered an urban NY shelter and were confused. King is a handsome, adaptable guy whose future is up to his next family. He has lived with older school aged kids, another dog, and a family. He is house trained, rides well in the back of an SUV and knows basic commands. While King has met feline members of society in our presence, they were predatory and he wanted nothing to do with them (likewise, his handler was intimidated). King is in downstate NY and can be adopted with or without his housemate Queen. Apply today 4theloveofdog.org

If you are interested in adopting please email wags.n.wiggles.rescue@gmail.com for an application. Once we receive your application a volunteer will call and chat about your application. We will call your vet and personal references and do a home visit. All of this helps us pair you with the best possible match for a successful adoption. Once approved we will make plans for you and your family to meet the dog you are interested in. If all goes well, you bring home your new furbaby. We do require you to sign an adoption contract. Our dogs are fostered in foster homes after the initial quarantine at our facility in Unity which helps us learn their personalities and help them learn how to be a house dog as the majority of our dogs are saved from shelters in the south. We are also committed to helping local dogs as well as the occasional cat and other pets. Our adoption fees are $400 for adults and $450 for puppies. Seniors and hard to place dogs will have special fees to help them find their furever homes. All of our babies will be up to date on age appropriate shots, flea\tick and heart worm preventatives, heart worm negative, microchipped and have a health certificate.

Adopting a dog in Windsor County

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
