Foster Profile:
May is a very loving girl and just wants to jump up and give kisses. We're working diligently on not jumping. She's very smart and seems to have potty training down and has not had an accident inside while I've had her. That being said, I do have a doggie door so she can let herself out, but I'm confident she will learn quickly to ask to go out, especially if she as an older dog to show her the ropes. She likes her crate, and will put herself in the crate to nap. I have it in my bedroom and she has not cried at night at all. She sleeps 8 hours without incident. Leash training is a work in progress, but with continued training she will catch on fast.
This little (NOT) girl has stolen my heart in just a few short days and will steal yours as well.

She's social, not dominant, and playful with other dogs. She loves to play with Philo who came from the same property. 12. Chance
Adult (3 years) · Male · Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 16 mi from Kent

Meet Chance
Chance is a 3-year-old, 65-pound pitbull mix who's part cow, part puppy, and entirely goofy.
He was found as a stray and ended up in an overcrowded California shelter. He's found a soft place to land in his foster home in Snohomish, WA, where he's living with two other dogs. He's also being exposed to farm animals, and the many smells and sounds that life out of the shelter has to offer.
Read more about Chance
This guy is pure joy! He's confident, loves people and other dogs, and he greets every day like it's the best one yet. He's a puppy in a grown-up body, with medium energy, plenty of silliness, a stunning black-and-white coat, and soulful eyes that will melt you on the spot.
Chance is crate trained and sleeps through the night without a peep. He's working on his house manners and on keeping his excitement in check, but he's smart, eager to please, and a quick, willing learner.
Because of his size and enthusiasm, a home without young children would be the best fit, ideally one that will include him in adventures, daily enrichment, consistency, and training. We don't yet know how he feels about cats.
Chance is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $450

13. Freya
Adult (3 years 11 months) · Female · Alaskan Malamute (medium coat) · 23 mi from Kent

Meet Freya — A Gorgeous, Loyal Alaskan Malamute Ready for a Life Filled With Adventure and Love
Freya is the kind of Malamute who makes you stop in your tracks. Beautiful, bright, and full of heart, she’s a four‑legged companion who wants nothing more than to be part of a family’s daily rhythm. If you’re searching for a dog who thrives on activity, connection, and purpose, Freya may be the perfect match.
A Well‑Mannered, Well‑Trained Girl
Read more about Freya
Freya comes with a solid foundation of training that makes her a joy to live with. She knows sit, stay, down, and will come when called. She’s leash trained, making walks smooth and enjoyable, and she rides calmly in the car, ready for any adventure you throw her way.
Her daily routine currently includes long runs, and on Sundays she gets her special treat — a trip to the woods for extended exploring. She’s an active dog who genuinely loves movement, fresh air, and having a job to do.
Sweet, Social, and People‑Focused
Freya is wonderfully sweet with kids and enjoys meeting new people. She’s affectionate, friendly, and happiest when she’s included in family life. Her current owners have cared for her well and given her basic training, but the setup isn’t ideal for her anymore. She currently lives in
Okanogan, WA where s
he is kept outdoors. Freya longs to be inside with her humans, ideally with her own cozy bed.
Her Ideal Home: Active, Loving, and Attentive
Freya’s next chapter should be with a family who truly treasures her. She needs:
An active lifestyle — daily exercise, weekend adventures, and plenty of mental stimulation
A home where she can live indoors and be part of the family
No farm animals due to her strong prey drive
Preferably no other dogs, or possibly a large, calm male dog
No female dogs, as she can be reactive and competitive with them
Freya isn’t aggressive by nature, she’s simply a Malamute with opinions, instincts, and a strong personality. With the right environment, she’ll thrive.
A Dog Who Wants to Belong
More than anything, Freya wants connection. She wants her people. She wants to be included, guided, and loved. She’s ready for a home that understands the Malamute spirit; independent yet deeply loyal, energetic yet affectionate, stubborn yet endlessly rewarding.
If you’re looking for a stunning, devoted companion who will happily join you on runs, hikes, road trips, and everyday life, Freya is waiting for her chance. She’s ready to leave outdoor living behind and step into a future where she’s cherished, engaged, and part of a family that sees her for the incredible dog she is.

14. Luna
Adult (5 years 5 months) · Female · Alaskan Malamute (medium coat) · 23 mi from Kent

Meet Luna — A Big, Beautiful Malamute With an Even Bigger Heart
Every so often, a dog comes along who feels like pure sunshine wrapped in fur. Luna is one of those dogs. At 5 years old and 124 pounds, she’s a gorgeous, confident Alaskan Malamute with a heart as oversized as her fluffy frame. She’s looking for a new home through absolutely no fault of her own. Her owner’s declining health means Luna needs a family who can give her the care, attention, and love she deserves.
A Sweetheart Through and Through
Read more about Luna
Luna is the definition of a gentle giant. She adores being around her people and thrives on affection. Whether it’s leaning in for pets, following her humans from room to room, or simply lounging nearby, she’s happiest when she’s part of the family’s daily rhythm.
She currently lives in
Milwaukie Oregon
with dogs, cats, and children—and she gets along beautifully with everyone. Inside her home, she’s calm, friendly, and easygoing. She hasn’t had much experience meeting dogs outside her familiar circle, but her family believes she’ll warm up quickly with slow, positive introductions.
Confident, a Little Bossy, and Completely Charming
During her evaluation, Luna showed off her personality in the best way. She greeted her evaluator with a few friendly “Malamute words,” then settled quickly and confidently. She enjoyed pets, ran a few joyful zoomies, and then relaxed like she owned the place. She’s a confident girl with a touch
of bossiness—but in that sweet, endearing Malamute way that makes you laugh more than anything else.
Ready to Learn, Explore, and Grow
Because Luna hasn’t had much exposure to the outside world, she’ll need a patient adopter who can help her learn leash skills, build confidence, and discover new adventures. She’s smart, eager to please, and bonded to her people—wonderful traits for a dog who’s ready to expand her horizons.
She does experience some separation anxiety and has always been allowed to free‑roam in the home. She’s fully house trained and settles well when her people are around.
Health Notes & Care Needs
Luna has seasonal allergies that can cause hot spots from licking. She currently receives a monthly allergy injection that helps keep things under control. She’s also overweight and will need a family committed to helping her shed some pounds through healthy food choices and gentle exercise.
Who Luna Is Looking For
Luna’s ideal family will be:
Patient and encouraging, ready to help her learn leash manners and explore the world
Affectionate and present, as she thrives on companionship
Committed to her health, including weight loss and allergy management
Looking for a calm, confident dog who doesn’t require the typical high‑energy Malamute lifestyle
She would do best in a home without very young children simply due to her size, but she’s been wonderful with kids in her current home.
A Once‑in‑a‑Lifetime Companion
Luna is a stunning, sweet, soulful girl who has so much love to give. She’s the kind of dog who makes a house feel like a home—steady, affectionate, and full of personality. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will adore being part of your world, Luna may be the perfect match.
This big beautiful girl is ready for her next chapter. She’s ready for a family who will cherish her, guide her, and help her shine.

16. Mabel
Adult (2 years 4 months) · Female · Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Doberman Pinscher / Mixed (medium coat) · 23 mi from Kent

Animal Information:
Mabel is an estimated 2-year-old, 60-pound female Malinois mix who wound up at the shelter as a stray. She had recently had puppies, and the responding officer believed she had been dumped in the area.
When Mabel first arrived, she was very nervous and reserved in her kennel. With a little patience and encouragement from shelter staff, she slowly came out of her shell, and it didn’t take long for everyone to discover that she was actually a total lap dog!
Mabel also did well in playgroups. She started off shy and unsure, but with a little time, she warmed up and began enjoying herself with the other dogs.
Read more about Mabel
When Mabel’s time at the shelter was up, we simply couldn’t say no to giving this sweet girl a chance at the good life here in the PNW. We’re so excited to see her chapter change from survival to the happy, loving life she deserves.
Foster Profile: Mabel is a sweet happy girl looking for an active family to call her own. She does well with other dogs and would be happy for a dog sibling in her forever home but would also be ok without another dog. She loves exploring outside time and would be a great running and hiking buddy. She is working on her obedience and does well in the crate and on leash. She will need an owner with breed experience to continue her training. She would do well in a home with older dog savvy kids. Due to her prey drive we are not considering a home with cats.

If you’ve ever dreamed of sharing your life with a Malamute who has opinions and isn’t afraid to share them, Guinevere might just be your perfect match. At an estimated 5 years old, she acts like she’s still in her playful prime — full of energy, curiosity, and that signature Malamute charm.
A Vocal Girl With a Lot to Say
Read more about Guinevere
Guinevere is a talker. She sings, she comments, she reminds you she exists — especially if she’s been left alone longer than she prefers. She’s not destructive, just expressive. Her “lovely singing voice” is her way of saying, Hey, I miss you. Come hang out with me.
She adores people and attention, and she’ll happily lean against your legs or sit on your feet while gazing up at you like you’re her whole world.
An Explorer With a Nose for Adventure
Walking Guinevere is a joy. She’s pretty easy on leash, though she does love to zigzag so she can sniff every interesting scent along the way. Exploring is her favorite hobby, and she’ll happily join you on outdoor adventures, hikes, or long strolls where she can take in all the smells.
She’s also a zoomie enthusiast — volunteers say she loves to play, romp, and show off her goofy side.
A Social Girl… With Preferences
Guinevere has gotten along well with most dogs she’s met and tends to prefer males. She’s indifferent to food, which makes training a bit more challenging, but she’s eager for attention and praise. She still jumps up on people, but her caregivers are actively working on this.
She’ll require a meet‑and‑greet with any resident dog to make sure the match is right.
A True Malamute Coat & A True Malamute Talent
Guinevere has the long, dense coat typical of her breed — beautiful, plush, and in need of regular grooming throughout her life.
She also has one classic Malamute trait: she is a super escape artist. Her future family will need secure fencing, awareness, and a commitment to keeping her safe.
Who She’s Looking For
Enjoy being active and want a dog who loves exploring
Can provide companionship and minimize long stretches of alone time
Have secure containment and Malamute‑savvy awareness
Are patient with training and willing to work around her “meh” attitude toward food rewards
Want a dog who is affectionate, silly, and full of personality
She would be a steadfast, loving companion for someone who appreciates a vocal, playful, people‑focused Malamute.

Foster Profile:
Meet Gus, a big boy with a lot of personality. Even at only 4 months old he is quickly mastering every challenge I throw at him. Potty training is in process, he will sit, lie down, settle and run to his kennel for dinner. He sleeps through the night, walks on a leash and has great recall. His ideal home will have a secure fence with room to play. He is smart so he will need a job to keep his brain busy. Ideally, another dog in the home will help with training. He already mimics my resident dog and picks up commands by imitation.
I can't say enough good about this boy. He is snuggly, entertains himself well and really wants to please. He will make a wonderful companion.

Foster Profile: Lily is a sweet gentle soul. She’s learning to bring out her rough and tumble side and we see her make more choices with gumption daily which is great to see. The first few days transitioning into the groove at her foster home things were overwhelming for her but it turns out she’s really not a shy girl at all! She really enjoys both people and dogs. She may still need a slower intro with a more boisterous dog but eventually really enjoys running and wrestling. Potty training was also a big learning curve for her but we have seen HUGE improvements in that category as well. She’s calm and quiet in her crate. When she’s a sleepy girl she’s a total noodle which is exceptionally cute with her growing body. We expect her to be medium to large with how quickly she’s already growing. Lily loves food to support all of her speedy growing. She currently lives with a dog savvy cat and is doing well existing and interacting.

20. Iris
Adult (4 years 1 month) · Female · Alaskan Malamute (medium coat) · 23 mi from Kent

Meet Iris — A Stunning, Spirited Alaskan Malamute Ready for a New Furever Home
Iris is a beautiful 4‑year‑old Alaskan Malamute with a friendly nature and a whole lot of personality. She’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply with her people and thrives when she’s included, engaged, and given plenty of activity.
One of Iris’s sweetest quirks is how much she loves her crate. When you tell her it’s bedtime, she trots right in without hesitation. She also enjoys her daily walks and is used to going about two miles a day. With her current large yard, she’s mastered the art of zoomies — and she’ll happily show off her speed and enthusiasm.
Read more about Iris
While Iris isn’t big on traditional dog toys, she does enjoy sneaking off with the cat’s toys instead. She knows basic cues like
Sit
,
Stay
, and
Wait
, and she’s eager to learn more with the right guidance.
Iris is a classic Malamute: smart, stubborn, vocal, and full of drive. She can become overstimulated when she sees other dogs and tends to get loud and excited. She also likes to be the center of attention and may nudge other dogs away to claim her people. Because of this, she has had conflicts with female dogs in the past and would do best in a home
without female dogs
. She may do well with a calm, compatible male dog.
She needs continued leash training and careful work around other animals to help her build confidence and better manners. With structure, patience, and consistency, she has great potential.
Her Ideal Home
Iris will thrive with adopters who:
Have no young children (due to her size and strength)
Can spend quality time with her each day
Enjoy outdoor activities and can help her burn off energy
Are committed to ongoing training
Prefer a home with no female dogs and possibly a well‑matched male dog
Her current family loves her dearly, but changes in their work schedules mean they can no longer give Iris the time, attention, and active lifestyle she deserves.
Why Iris Is Worth It
Iris is affectionate, loyal, and full of charm. She’s a dog who wants to be part of the family, who lights up when she’s included, and who will reward the right adopter with devotion and personality in spades. With structure, exercise, and continued training, she’ll blossom into an incredible companion.
If you’re looking for a gorgeous, spirited Malamute who’s ready for adventure and eager to bond, Iris may be the perfect match.

21. Keno
Adult (4 years 2 months) · Male · Alaskan Malamute / Siberian Husky / Mixed (medium coat) · 23 mi from Kent

Keno is a striking Malamute/Husky mix with a big heart and an even bigger need for the right person to guide him forward. Sadly, his owner has passed away and Keno had been living with family who could not keep him. Keno is now living at Malley Valley where he will be getting butt rubs and walks from our volunteers.
Read more about Keno
This boy has all the classic northern‑breed charm: he’s smart, energetic, outdoorsy, and full of personality. Although he’s been living mostly outside recently, Keno is housebroken and has a foundation of basic commands — sit, lay down, and even roll over. He walked beautifully on leash for his owner and shows that same potential with new handlers once he settles his excitement.
What is Keno Like
Dog‑friendly and social — Keno enjoys the company of friendly dogs of all sizes and reads canine body language well. He thrives around dogs who are calm and confident.
Smart and capable — He already knows sit, lay down, and roll over, and he walked beautifully on leash for his owner. With someone patient and consistent, he’ll pick up new skills quickly.
Housebroken — Even though he’s been living outdoors more recently, he remembers his manners indoors.
Energetic and fun‑loving — Keno has that classic northern‑breed enthusiasm and loves being active, exploring, and engaging with his people.
Independent but eager to bond — He may be a work in progress, but he genuinely wants to connect. Once he trusts you, he tries hard to listen and learn.
A respectful wanderer — He doesn’t dig or climb fences, but he does like to roam if given the chance, so secure fencing helps him stay safe while enjoying his space.
His Ideal Home
Keno will thrive with adopters who understand the Malamute/Husky mindset: independent, intelligent, and deeply loyal once bonded. His perfect match is a home with:
No young children
No small pets
A securely fenced yard
Owners experienced with high‑energy working breeds
Patience and commitment to training
Keno is a dog with incredible potential. Keno is searching for a new home where he can rebuild his sense of security and belonging.

23. Bertie
Senior (7 years 8 months) · Female · Hound / Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 23 mi from Kent

Animal Information:
Bertie is a 7.5-year-old, 60lb hound mix who was adopted from Seattle Humane as a puppy. She is being surrendered because she needs more routine, attention, and activity than her owner can provide due to work demands.
Read more about Bertie
Her owner lives alone on Whidbey Island and works in Seattle 2-3 days a week. Most of the time Bertie cannot come along, so she spends many hours home alone. Her owner's job is also requiring more frequent travel, and there is a possibility of an overseas move within the next year. Bertie would do best in a home where she has more companionship, a consistent routine, and plenty of opportunities for exercise and interaction.
Bertie is a sweet, affectionate dog who loves being with her person. She enjoys walks, relaxing at home, and simply being close to the people she loves. She is happiest when she can be part of her family's daily life.
She is house-trained, crate-trained, and friendly with people. She does best with slow, proper introductions to other dogs and may be happiest as the only dog in the home.
Bertie completed an e-collar board-and-train program with Double Down Dog Training several years ago. While that training has not been consistently maintained, she has a good foundation and is working on polishing those skills again.
Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian. 25. Sandy
Young (11 months) · Female · Shepherd / Husky / Mixed (medium coat) · 16 mi from Kent

Meet Sandy!
This wonderful Shepherd mix girl is so gentle and kind. She has such a sweet temperament. She did not come from great beginnings and was quite shut down when she arrived with us but she is now blossoming!
Read more about Sandy
Sandy loves playing outside in the yard, going for walks, snoozing by your side, getting brushed and loved on. Her foster mom is working hard with her to teach her the things she was never exposed to. At only 11 months Sandy is smart and learning quickly. We would love to see Sandy with a family experienced with larger dogs and the room to have her run around. A secure fenced yard is a must. Sandy's training will need to be continued - just basic things that she is already getting the hang of. We have a trainer on our staff who can assist!
She had surgery to correct her lower eyelashes from growing into her eyes and her eyes are now bright and sparkly (and more comfortable for her too).
Sandy is the best and we all adore her. We think you will too! Come and meet her :)
Sandy is spayed, vaccinated and chipped. Her adoption fee is $450

26. Wilson
Senior (9 years 3 months) · Male · Collie / Cattle Dog / Mixed (short coat) · 16 mi from Kent

Meet Wilson!
Wilson is looking for someone to grow old with.
He is a 9 year-old herding mix ( Border Collie, Cattle Dog, McNab, and a little mystery mixed in), and after spending his entire life with a family who was home with him nearly all the time, he's now searching for a new beginning.
He's the kind of dog who doesn't ask for much. A soft bed. A few treats. A predictable routine. Most of all, someone to simply be with.
Read more about Wilson
Wilson is housebroken, rides great in the car, and once he trusts you, he's an incredibly sweet, affectionate companion. He'll quietly follow you from room to room, happy just knowing you're nearby. He's not demanding—he just loves being with his people.
He can be shy with strangers and needs a little time to warm up, but kindness and patience are rewarded with unwavering loyalty. He'd be happiest as your one and only, though he may do well with calm, respectful dogs. (Cats are unknown.)
Wilson could stand to lose a few pounds, so he'd love a family who will enjoy leisurely walks and help him get back into shape. And if you happen to have treats... he'll gladly show you the tricks he knows.
Senior dogs have so much love left to give. Wilson isn't looking for perfection—just someone willing to give him the chance to feel safe, loved, and home again.
If you think Wilson might be the companion you've been looking for, please send us a message. And if you can't adopt, sharing his post could help him find the family he deserves.

We can't wait to meet him!

Foster Profile: Some dogs you just know have all the makings of a fantastic companion. This boy is one of those! He absolutely loves to play -- fetch, tug, you name it. If you're not free for a game, he'll play by himself tossing his toys into the air! He is gentle and engaging with kids (as young as 4) and not particularly mouthy. He is learning crate training and house training and will be a quick study for obedience training because he's so eager to please. He already walks well on a leash. He does great with the pack of four dogs (male, female and a puppy) in his foster home but he's excitable on leash so will need training for public access. His foster home had a lot of animals, so he hasn’t had much experience yet with walks or outings, but he’s done great living with small dogs. Flint is a playful, sweet puppy looking for a family to bond with and help teach him the ropes so he can grow into a well-mannered gentleman. He has the typical rambunctiousness of a Doberman puppy, but is smart and eager to please.

Flint is super sweet, he’s very energetic and LOVES to play. His favorite toys are anything he can chase and catch! He is highly food motivated, making training sessions easy and fun, though he will need someone patient to keep training fun and exciting for him. 29. Zeus
Adult (3 years 7 months) · Male · Alaskan Malamute / Siberian Husky / Mixed · 23 mi from Kent

Meet Zeus — A Big‑Hearted Boy Looking for His Next Great Adventure
Some dogs leave pawprints on your heart the moment you meet them — Zeus is one of those dogs.
This handsome Malamute/Husky mix didn’t end up looking for a new home because of anything he did. His owner, who adored him deeply, faced an unexpected change in living circumstances and made the heartbreaking decision to let him go so he could continue living the active, joyful life he deserves. She describes him as a “total lovebug,” and it’s clear she wants nothing more than for him to find a family who will cherish him just as much as she has.
Read more about Zeus
A Daily Life Filled With Fun, Activity, and Connection
Zeus is used to living life to the fullest. His days were spent:
Going on energizing morning runs
Playing in the backyard
Practicing training exercises (with a little Mal/Husky-style attitude sprinkled in)
He thrives with people who enjoy being outdoors, staying active, and including him in their daily adventures. If you’re looking for a companion who will happily join you on hikes, runs, or weekend outings, Zeus is your guy.
A Social Butterfly With a Gentle Heart
One of Zeus’s most endearing traits is how much he loves meeting people. He’ll walk right up, nuzzle into you, and politely ask for pets with those big, expressive eyes. He’s affectionate, loyal, and eager to bond with his humans.
With other dogs, Zeus loves some female dogs and will often roll onto his back to show submission — a sweet, goofy gesture that fits his personality perfectly. However, with male dogs Zeus likes to be the alpha. We recommend he not be in a home with other male dogs and carefully introduced to female dogs to see if they will get along.
A Dog With Quirks That Make Him Even More Lovable
Zeus has a few adorable quirks that make him unforgettable:
He loves cat toys — not to destroy, but to care for. He treats them like his babies and carries them around gently.
He’s a tug-of-war champion — when it comes to playtime, that’s his game of choice.
He knows tons of commands — sit, lay, speak, paw, recall, up, down, drop it, and stay.
He also knows how to negotiate — Zeus is smart enough to understand commands, but he’s also a Malamute/Husky… which means he sometimes prefers to perform them only when a treat sweetens the deal.
His intelligence, combined with his playful stubbornness, makes him both entertaining and rewarding to train.
What Zeus Is Looking For
Zeus will thrive with a family who:
Enjoys an active lifestyle
Wants a dog who’s affectionate, social, and deeply loyal
Can continue his training and keep his mind engaged
Appreciates a dog with personality, humor, and heart
Has the time and space to give him the life he’s used to
He’s not just looking for a home — he’s looking for a partnership, a family, and a place where he can be his joyful, loving self.
Zeus Is Ready to Start His Next Chapter
If you’ve been dreaming of a dog who will run with you in the morning, cuddle with you in the evening, and make you laugh every single day, Zeus might be the perfect match. He’s a big-hearted Mal/Husky with endless love to give, and he’s ready to share it with someone who will treasure him just as much as his former owner did.
Zeus isn’t just a dog — he’s a companion, a character, and a loyal friend waiting for his next adventure.

Adopting a large dog in Kent
Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.
Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
