Rocky is a beautiful 4-year-old Sheepdog mix weighing approximately 37 pounds. She is a young adult who lives well with other dogs and is ready for the stability, companionship, and love of a forever family.

At four years old, Rocky is at a wonderful stage of life. She's past the puppy years but still young enough to enjoy plenty of walks, playtime, outings, and adventures with her new family.

Rocky does well with other dogs and children, while her compatibility with cats is currently unknown.

As a Sheepdog mix, Rocky may share some of the characteristics commonly seen in herding breeds. These dogs are often intelligent, loyal, attentive, active, and closely connected to their people. They can enjoy having both physical activity and opportunities to use their minds.

Training, Adjustment & What to Expect

Even though Rocky is already an adult, moving into a new home means learning an entirely new environment, schedule, and set of expectations.

Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so her adopter should be prepared to continue working on leash manners, basic commands, recall, household boundaries, calm greetings, and house training as needed.

Because Sheepdog-type dogs can be intelligent and attentive, positive-reinforcement training can provide valuable mental stimulation while helping Rocky build a strong relationship with her new family.

Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care

Her future family should review her medical history with their veterinarian and continue routine wellness examinations, vaccinations and boosters as recommended, flea/tick/heartworm and parasite prevention, dental care, quality nutrition, healthy weight management, grooming and nail care, appropriate daily exercise, and veterinary treatment whenever necessary.

Regular grooming may be particularly important depending on Rocky's coat type. Her family should establish a brushing and grooming schedule appropriate for her individual coat.
