5. Rebecca
Adult · Female · Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 12 mi from Mobile

✨ MEET REBECCA!!! ✨
‼️ FOR OVER 3 YEARS ‼️ our volunteers, dedicated street feeders, and Mobile County Animal Shelter worked endlessly to catch this sweet girl. Rebecca evaded trap after trap after trap!
During those years, we helped multiple litters of puppies in the area and even successfully trapped Rebecca’s sister and her litter about a year ago.
BUT 6 MONTHS AGO, EVERYTHING CHANGED!!! ❤️
Thanks to the amazing efforts of Animal Control…
REBECCA WAS FINALLY SECURED, SAFE, AND OFF THE STREETS!!!
And today, she is THRIVING in foster care!
Read more about Rebecca
How this girl survived years on the streets through freezing temperatures and snow, the extreme summer heat, traffic, vehicles, and everything else she encountered is beyond us. She is one tough girl! ❤️
Rebecca has now been fully vetted and spayed, and little by little, she is learning how to be a dog and discovering what the good life is all about.
ABOUT REBECCA:
Lab mix
Approximately 3–5 years old
Around 40 lbs.
Shy at first, but oh-so-sweet
Great with dogs of all sizes
Doesn’t mind a kennel
Uses a doggy door
Loves being comfy on the couch
Has SO much love to give!
Rebecca will need a patient, understanding family who will give her the time she needs to adjust to a new home, routine, and environment. After spending so much of her life surviving on the streets, learning to trust takes time — but this girl is absolutely worth it. ❤️
She deserves to finally know what it feels like to have a family of her very own.
This rescue was truly a GROUP EFFORT. It takes a village, and we have the BEST! We are incredibly thankful to every volunteer, street feeder, Animal Control officer, shelter employee, foster, and supporter who played a part in getting Rebecca to safety.
Now there is only ONE thing missing from her story…
❤️ HER FOREVER HOME! ❤️
If you can give Rebecca the patient, loving home she has waited YEARS for, please submit an adoption application!

6. Rudy
Puppy · Male · Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 12 mi from Mobile

✨ UPDATE!! MEET RUDY! ✨
How has this adorable little fuzzball not found his forever family yet?!
Rudy was found as a stray and taken in by one of our wonderful volunteers. Since entering foster care, this boy has absolutely THRIVED! We believe he is a Lab/Aussie mix, around 6-ish months old, and he is full of life, personality, and love! ❤️
Rudy doesn’t meet a stranger! He loves people, loves other animals, and is just an all-around happy little guy. He has the perfect combination of being active and playful while also knowing how to settle down and relax.
His foster has some pretty amazing things to say about him:
Read more about Rudy
Very loyal
Doing amazing with potty training
Kennel trained
Awesome recall
Knows sit AND shake
Eager to please and loves learning
Great with kids of all ages
Good with cats
Would LOVE having other dogs to play with
Active but laid-back at the same time
For such a young puppy, Rudy is already showing everyone just how smart and special he is! He wants to be involved, wants to learn, and most of all, he just wants a family of his own.
Rudy is UTD, neutered, and READY TO GO!
We truly think this boy could make an incredible family dog. Whether it’s playing outside, going on adventures, learning new tricks, wrestling with a canine sibling, or curling up with his people afterward, Rudy is ready for all of it!
Our adoptions are NOT first come, first served, and there is NO fee to apply! We work to find the best match for each individual animal.
While Rudy is doing wonderfully with potty training, we never state that any animal is fully house-trained. New environments, situations, families, and routines can lead to accidents—even with the most well-trained animals.
ADOPTION FEE: $195
The adoption fee includes a vet check, age-appropriate vaccinations (at least 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm testing if over 6 months old, rabies vaccination if at least 16 weeks old, and spay/neuter.
All puppies will be altered before adoption. All healthy and adoptable dogs over 8 weeks old and 2 lbs. will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this policy for healthy, adoptable puppies. We have researched pediatric spay/neuter extensively and discussed it in depth with multiple veterinarians. From a rescue standpoint, it is an essential part of our rescue efforts. Please do not request an extension on spay/neuter, as one will not be granted for a healthy puppy.
Puppies/dogs whose vetting is not yet complete may be reserved with an approved application and a non-refundable $50 deposit. Deposits may ONLY be submitted after Wags & Whiskers has contacted you regarding your approval and specifically requested the deposit.
The $50 deposit is applied toward the $195 adoption fee, leaving a $145 balance due at pickup.
❤️ Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue is an ALL-VOLUNTEER rescue. Please allow our volunteers time to respond to inquiries and applications. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

All dogs have a $195 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue stand point it must be done. Please do not ask for an extension on spay and neutering, it will NOT be granted on a healthy puppy!
Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $145 is due at pick up.

✨ UPDATE — MEET NANCY!! ✨
Imagine being dumped along a busy highway, confused and unsure of where to go. Sadly, that’s exactly what happened to sweet Nancy and her friend, Nic.
Thankfully, an amazing foster stepped up and gave these two deserving pups a safe place to land. Since coming into rescue, Nancy has shown us just how sweet, loving, and appreciative she truly is. ❤️
When Nancy arrived, she was suffering from flea dermatitis and mange, but with proper treatment, good food, and lots of TLC, she has healed beautifully! Now she’s healthy, happy, and ready to find the family who will never leave her behind again.

When Nic came into rescue, he was suffering from flea dermatitis and mange, but with proper treatment, care, and lots of love, he has healed beautifully! Just look at him now!

22. Raya
Adult · Female · Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 12 mi from Mobile

UPDATE!!✨
Raya is a 5 year old Labby mix with the sweetest personality! She was rescued off the street by her foster mom and spent a long time being afraid of her own shadow. She takes a while to come out of her shell, but once she does, you’ll see how sweet and loving this girl is! She doesn’t have much interest in toys and would rather be glued to her human’s side. She’s patient with kids and great with other dogs. She would do best in a home where she can get lots of attention and belly rubs! She is utd, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and spayed!

24. Milo
Puppy · Male · Husky / Mixed (medium coat) · 4 mi from Mobile

Milo is a 7-month-old husky mix with striking black-and-white markings. His mom is a full-blooded husky; Dad is a mystery, but look at that face! Milo is a smart, energetic boy who likes to stay busy and needs room to run. He'll also let you know when he's bored, because like a true husky, he talks.

Adopting a large dog in Mobile
Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.
Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
