1. Harper
Puppy (4 months 10 days) · Female · Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Harper, Henry and Harley are 15-week-old puppies that are terrier mixes. Their current weights are about 10 lbs. and are expected to reach 15-20 lbs. in adulthood. These pups are still just babies that love to have fun running and playing with the other dogs in their foster home. They are high energy youngsters and would love to have a fenced yard and a playmate to use up some of that puppy energy. The puppies enjoy playing with the larger adult dogs in their foster home. They try to be playful with the foster family cat when they have an opportunity. These pups love to be lap dogs after they burn off their energy playing together. They are very smart and are doing great with their house-training, but they will still need more attention in a home of their own to complete their training. Overall, these puppies are adorable and very lovable dogs who love to play with someone and snuggle up in your arms. If you would like to adopt Henry, Harley, or Harper, please submit an application specifying which dog you are interested in. Additional photos available at

3. Stoney
Adult (2 years 11 months) · Male · Rat Terrier (short coat)

Found as a stray in Georgia, 3-year-old Stoney's past is a bit of a mystery, but one thing is for certain: he is a gentle, sweet soul who is ready to give and receive all the love in the world.
Read more about Stoney
Stoney doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. He adores human attention and wants nothing more than to feel safe and loved. Unlike many typical vocal terriers, Stoney is remarkably quiet! He rarely barks, only occasionally letting out a few woofs at something outside the fence. He gets along with dogs his own size (he weighs nearly 11 lbs.) but does not play with them other than an occasional short game of chase in the yard. Larger dogs make him feel a bit intimidated, so he does best with canine pals near his size. He has not been cat-tested yet.
Stoney's house-training is coming along well. He is still learning his routine and has the occasional accident—mainly first thing in the morning—so a patient adopter who can keep him on a steady schedule will help him cross the finish line. Coming from a stray life, household and outdoor sounds can be overwhelming for him. Loud appliances like vacuum cleaners or hair dryers or even quieter sounds like dinner cooking on the stove can send him cowering into a corner. However, the longer he resides in a home environment and realizes he's safe, the more his confidence is improving. At night, he sleeps quietly in his crate in his foster parent's bedroom, not making a peep until the humans are ready to rise and shine!
Stoney walks nicely on a leash, but if he encounters strange people, unfamiliar dogs, moving cars, or sudden noises, his instinct is to "freeze." Once the perceived danger passes, he resumes walking. He walks right along on quiet nature trails or open fields where he can sniff and explore without the hustle and bustle of traffic, humans, or other dogs.
Because Stoney is so sensitive to noises, he is looking for a gentle, predictable environment in a quiet suburban neighborhood or rural setting with a fenced area for him to feel secure. His ideal home is adult-only (or one with older, calm teenagers) with a parent or parents who are home much of the time to continue building his confidence. Fast-moving, noisy young children would be too overwhelming for him.
Stoney needs an adopter who understands that shy dogs take a little time to bloom. With patience, gentle encouragement, and a safe space, Stoney will prove to be the most loyal, loving companion you could ever ask for. Is Stoney the gentle buddy you've been searching for? See more photos of Stoney at www.imageevent.com/newrattitude/stoney , then apply to adopt him today!

5. Hannah
Puppy (3 months 28 days) · Female · Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Hannah is a four-month-old rat terrier mix, sibling to Hayden, Henry, Harley, and Harper. She currently weighs about 10 lbs. and is expected to reach 15-20 lbs. in adulthood.
Hannah is a full-on puppy in all the best ways: high energy, inquisitive, and always looking for her next adventure (or her next favorite chew toy!). Like many young pups, she can still be a little nervous when meeting new people for the first time. Once she knows she's safe, her sweet, affectionate side comes right out. After a fun round of puppy antics, she loves nothing more than curling up close for a long cuddle.
Hannah's wishlist for her forever family:
Read more about Hannah
A playmate: Hannah is accustomed to having a furry companion to play, wrestle, and snuggle with. Ideally, her forever home will have another friendly, playful dog to be her companion and teach her good doggy manners.
Big kids only: To prevent accidental drops or trips—and to manage normal puppy mouthiness/nipping—she needs a home without young children.
Training and routine: Hannah is not yet house-trained, but she is making great progress when taken out frequently. Plus, she's already a superstar at night and sleeps quietly in her crate all night long!
Hannah is ready to bring energy, warmth, and lots of puppy love to her new home! If you're looking for a new addition to your family and prepared to do a little bit of work for a huge return, apply to adopt today!

6. Hayden
Puppy (4 months 1 day) · Female · Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Hayden is a four-month-old rat terrier mix, sibling to Hannah, Henry, Harley, and Harper. She currently weighs about 10 lbs. and is expected to reach 15-20 lbs in adulthood. This long-legged girl is a funny, high-energy puppy with legs made for leaping—and yes, she can jump very high!
Read more about Hayden
Hayden is a classic pup: mischievous, endlessly curious, and currently under the impression that the whole world was made for her to chew on. But what truly sets Hayden apart is her comedic timing. When she gets caught in puppy mischief, she immediately pops into a perfect, polite "sit" and hits you with the ultimate sweet "Who, me? I was just sitting here being an angel!" look. She can be a bit nervous when meeting new people at first, but once she warms up and burns off her zoomies, she turns into a total sweetheart who loves to cuddle.
Her foster mom has been working on her crate-training and house-training, but she is a baby so she still has a ways to go.
Hayden's wish list for her forever home:
- A friend to play with: Having a playful canine sibling is ideal to help teach her manners, burn off energy, and give her a cozy buddy to cuddle with.
- Patient humans who are around more often than not: She is not yet house trained, though she is doing very well when let out frequently on a consistent schedule. She needs potty breaks every few hours, so she would not be happy left alone 8+ hours a day.
- Big kids only: Due to her small size and typical puppy nipping habits, a home without young children is required to keep both Hayden and the kids safe from accidental drops or sharp puppy teeth.

7. Midgie
Young (3 years 5 months) · Female · Terrier / Boxer / Mixed (short coat)

Midgie needs an active family with lots of outdoor time; hiking, running, swimming, or playing soccer. She loves them all!
If you don’t like a dog that wants to be in your lap, wrap her ‘arms’ arms around you tightly, and give you kisses… then Midgie isn’t for you. If you want that kind of love from a dog, then please keep reading.
Read more about Midgie
Miss Midgie is a super loving and energetic girl. She’s a total “people dog” and is great with kids. It seems like she could get by in life with just two things… a person to hug and kiss, and her herding ball. This girl’s got energy, but is fine entertaining herself with her beloved herding ball for hours. She’s good with other dogs that are not aggressive – she’s up for making new friends, but wont back down if another dog is not so nice to her.
Midgie is GREAT on a leash (no work went into this on her foster family’s part – all her nature). Midgie’s perfect forever family is one that will take her for walks and have a fenced yard (or keep an close eye on her if she’s off leash in the yard) – her youthful curiosity and ability to jump higher than the bionic woman mean that she sometimes makes her own decision to go exploring if left unattended. Again – a higher fence, zip line, or dog run (along with her beloved herding ball) have worked wonders to keep her safe while we’ve fostered her.
This smart and loving girl wants to be at the top of your consideration list - in return, she’ll be your best friend for life!
Age: 3.6 years
Weight: 40lbs
Temperament: Gets along with older sturdy kids, submissive male dogs
Training: Housetrained, has basic training
"Wait", "Sit", "Gentle", "Crate", "This way", and "Pull it"
Vetting: Spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative

Young (1 year 5 months) · Female · Beagle / Corgi / Mixed (short coat)

Norma Jean: Tennis-Ball-Loving Mix Seeking Foster or Forever Home
Meet Norma Jean, a playful, sweet 1.5-year-old who will happily chase a tennis ball for as long as you'll throw it! At just 28 pounds, she's a compact bundle of energy who knows how to switch off: give her some exercise and she'll happily chill out while you work.
See Video of Cute Lil' Norma Jean Exploring
The Basics:
1.5 years old, 28 lbs, possibly a Beagle/Corgi mix
Housebroken and crate-trained
Great at the vet and loves meeting people outside
Very intelligent and responds well to training
Read more about Norma Jean
Her Personality:
Norma Jean is an affectionate girl who loves her people of all ages. She’s also a devoted, watchful companion who takes her role at home seriously. She's protective of her home and when strangers arrive, she can be cautious about welcoming them inside and bark. She’s been working with a trainer to learn that, as a little dog, she doesn’t have to be the big boss, and she’s making great progress. She does great when meeting people outside. Her new family will need to keep up that training.
With Other Dogs:
Norma Jean enjoys being around other dogs. She likes to meet dogs and take a short walk outside before being thrown in the backyard with them. She has a confident personality and knows her boundaries, so she’s best matched with playful, easygoing dogs whose personalities complement hers—or dogs who are happy to give her space. She responds well to cues from other dogs and has lived with dogs ranging in size from 8-80 pounds. Like many dogs, she prefers to eat separately so she can eat at her own pace. She has shown no resource guarding with humans.
Her Ideal Home:
A home with teens and adults, where everyone can be mindful of doors and entrances
A calm, consistent family committed to continuing her training
Daily exercise, playtime, and plenty of tennis-ball adventures!
Norma Jean needs a foster or adopter as soon as possible. She has so much love and personality to share. She’s looking for a foster or forever home where she can continue her training, enjoy her favorite activities, and be loved for the amazing dog she is.

Interested adopters are asked to apply at https://doggieharmony.org/forms and allow a home visit, so we can make sure each pet is a great match. Please ask the pet’s current caretaker directly about their return process, and request an adoption contract. While we can’t offer immediate intake for dogs that need to be returned, we’re always happy to help a family rehome a pet while they continue to care for it. 9. Joe
Young (8 months) · Male · Cane Corso Mastiff / Mixed (short coat)

Joe just showed up at a family's home and stayed. After attempts to find the owner failed, it was clear he was dumped.
He’s very sweet and easy going but still a very strong dominant type dog. We would prefer someone with experience with this breed but will consider if they’ll sign up for training. Amazingly smart and dedicated dogs as long as well socialized and time is spent with them.
We're saying only older, sturdy kids because he is so large and strong.

10. Fred
2 Years · Male · Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed

Fred is one of those dogs that looks into your eyes and just gets you. When we took him from the shelter, he knew he couldn't go back. He is sweet, not overly hyper, and thinks of himself as more of a human than a dog. While he lives at a doggy daycare, he would be happiest in a home that he got to be the number one guy in the group ;) If you are interested, please apply at https://savecares.com/adoption-application/

12. Nathan
Adult (4 years) · Male · Rat Terrier / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat)

Say hello to Nathan! He's a 4-year-old rat terrier/Dachshund mix who found himself wandering alone in rural Virginia. Some kind animal control folks picked him up and he ended up with New Rattitude. Nathan is being fostered in a boarding, daycare, and training facility (with access to a room just for the little dogs).
When given his space, Nathan is a comical, friendly, happy boy. He will throw balls for himself, even sometimes picking them up in his front legs to toss. He enjoys chew bones and can entertain himself for long periods of time.
Read more about Nathan
He's cute as a button too, with a rat terrier head and Dachshund body. He's named after the hotdogs since he looks like a little sausage. At 17 lbs,, Nathan is capable and scrappy. He walks on a leash and enjoys running in the fenced yards. He learned the dog door quickly, and since getting neutered, has not had accidents in the house. We recommend treating Nathan like a puppy when you first get him home and take him out frequently.
Nathan needs his space, and isn't thrilled when other dogs try to take his things. Nathan is not a good fit for a home with larger dogs as he is grumpy about his space, food, and toys, and will start things he cannot finish with bigger dogs. Nathan can be a little snippy with people and his toys as well. He has learned "Give" and "Leave it" while in his foster home, and will do so when a grown up tells him. However, small children are probably not going to enjoy time with him. If they try to take Nathan's things, he will show them the error of their ways.
If you are looking for a cute, smart, funny dog and don't have lots of other animals or kids in your home, Nathan just might be your guy!

13. Toefoo
Adult (3 years 11 months) · Female · Rat Terrier (short coat)

Meet Toefoo! She's a 4-year-old purebred rat terrier who found herself in New Rattitude's care after she decided the other dog in her home was not welcome. Toefoo came to us VERY obese. While in her foster home, she has had controlled meals and lots of outside time with exercise. She has already lost several pounds and feels so much better for it. She is now 22 lbs., but is hoping to get to under 20 lbs.
Read more about Toefoo
Toefoo gets along fine with the dogs in her foster home, and there are a lot of them. She is being fostered at a boarding, daycare, and training facility and every day brings a new group of friends. She is crate-trained, and has her meals in her crate. She sleeps in her crate overnight, but would be fine sleeping with you, or in a dog bed once she is adopted.
Toefoo is house-trained and has mastered the dog door quickly. She goes in and out throughout the day to do her business. When she first got to her foster home she was not leash trained. With persistence and patience she has learned that the leash is not a bad thing and that she gets to go with her people if she has it on.
We don't think Toefoo was out in the world much before coming to her foster home. If you want her to take long walks and visit places with you, you will need to give her time to learn about being out and about. She gets spooked and will try to run away, but once she knows you've got her back, she settles down.
Toefoo is very affectionate with the people she knows and is super happy to see you. She's got a full-body wag and big smile. Could she be your newest family member? More images of Toefoo are available in her album: https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/toefoo

18. Poppy
Adult (2 years) · Female · Rat Terrier (short coat)

Hello, my name is Poppy. I weigh around 18 lbs., and my foster family thinks I am only 1-2 years old! When I first got to my foster home, I was afraid of many things and very shy, but I am learning that life is not so scary. My foster family has many words to describe me: goofy, playful, enthusiastic, loving, snuggly, and very sweet. And did I mention I'm house-trained? I also sleep quietly in my crate at night, although I would love sleeping in bed with my humans just as much.
Read more about Poppy
I am still not comfortable walking on a leash, and I startle at loud noises, so my forever home will need a fenced yard so I can show off my house-training. I would also love another confident younger dog to help me continue learning to be my best self. I am learning to keep all four paws on the ground when I get excited, which means I probably shouldn't go to a family with small children – I might knock them over with my long legs.
My foster family is so proud of me for the progress I have made, and I am looking forward to a forever family who can be patient with my training! In the meantime, I am perfectly Poppy. You can see more of my photos at this link:

25. Fireheart Desperately needs Foster/Adopter
Young (2 years) · Female · American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

We really need a foster for Fireheart. She is a posting for a good Samaritan who found her coming to their yard. And now Fireheart feels safe enough to keep coming but the family rents, they do not have a fence and are not able to take her inside. They also do not have the funds to spay her or anywhere safe for her to recover. We can help with funding, we just don't have fosters available.
This is what the rescuer says about her,

Doggie Harmony is a pet placement and matchmaking service that works with community members who are already housing a pet. Every match keeps a pet out of Georgia’s overcrowded shelters, where more than 30,000 dogs and cats are euthanized each year.

What she needs: Penelope is an anxious girl, and she takes daily anxiety medication. If someone approaches or tries to catch her too quickly, she may bark or nip out of fear. Let her come to you, and she will. She does not do well crated (she’ll cry for hours) but doesn’t need to be. She does best with someone home much of the day who can give her plenty of attention.
Other pets: She’s best as the only dog, or with a carefully matched, easygoing companion. She does well with confident cats but may chase a fearful one.
Best fit: a patient adult or retiree, a calm and consistent home, older respectful kids at most.
Penelope has been through several homes, and her current foster isn’t a long-term option. She needs her forever person soon.

28. Fontina
Adult (2 years 11 months) · Female · Rat Terrier / Boston Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

This quiet, gentle, mild-mannered girl is Fontina, a 3-year-old, 19 lb. sweetheart. Fontina is at ease meeting new people and new dogs, but she is apprehensive about new environments and sudden, unexpected noises, preferring to keep her distance a bit before determining that there is no danger. She very much likes going for walks and is confident on leash, but otherwise has just moderate energy, enjoying frequent naps in safe locations -- like under a bed or in the foot-well of a desk. She will closely follow "her" people around the house, often quite close at foot, but she isn't otherwise clingy or demanding. She gets most animated when you sit on a sofa and invite her up... then she is all about cuddling, presenting her belly for rubs, and playing a bit of "hand" with her mouth -- but if you don't want to play "hand," she is extremely responsive to a simple verbal "uh-uh".
Read more about Fontina
Fontina is reliably house-trained (she will go right to the door when you say "Let's go outside" and then promptly do her business), assuming she is given adequate outdoor opportunity. She doesn't like being in a crate (possibly because it signifies a car ride, and she does sometimes get car sick) but when she is required to be in a crate, she accepts it quietly and calmly. Based on physical characteristics and temperament, we believe that Fontina is a rat terrier/Boston Terrier mix. Check out more pictures and details about her at

29. Bella
Young (1 year) · Female · Dachshund / Beagle / Mixed (short coat)

Bella is incredibly sweet with her humans, is a couch potato, although she does have short burst of funny playing. She loves nothing more than to snuggle. She is funny and loving.
She would prefer a home without other dogs, she has some reactivity to dogs she doesn't know and has been a little spicy with her foster pack. It's a case of "Little Man" syndrome.
Age: 1 year
Weight: 20 lbs
Temperament: Gets along with adults, older respectful kids
Training: Housetrained, crate-trained
Vetting: Spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention

30. Daisy
Adult (5 years) · Female · Rat Terrier / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat)

Pretty Daisy is a 5-year-old, 10 lb. Chihuahua/rat terrier mix who was rescued from a Georgia shelter after her owner passed away. She's a tiny, delicate, 100% good girl with a sweet nature, a growing sense of adventure, and some very definite opinions about how life should be lived.
Read more about Daisy
At home, Daisy loves being close to her foster mom and foster brother, burrowing under blankets for naps, finding a sunny spot to lounge in, and enjoying what she believes should be an endless supply of food and treats. She also has a playful side and loves soft, fluffy toys that she can fling around, chase, and play fetch with. Daisy is house-trained as long as she's given regular opportunities to go outside.
Daisy has become much more excited about walks and outings as she's settled into foster life. She loves exploring and sniffing everything along the way—the flowers, the grass, that particularly interesting spot on the sidewalk. She's also always happy to stop for pets from people and say hello to furry friends along the way. Any potential adopters should know: this is Daisy's world, and we are just living in it!
Daisy would love a canine companion close to her size and temperament. Because she's such a little, delicate dog and has shown some mild resource guarding with her foster brother, she'd do best in an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy children. Her dream household would include someone who is home much of the day or, even better, is happy to let Daisy tag along wherever they go.
Basically, Daisy is looking for a warm lap, cozy blankets, toys and snacks, a little fur buddy, and someone who lets her be the queen of the castle.

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please fill out an adoption application. After filling out the application, please save or print and scan it and email to: adopt@caninecellmates.org. As soon as we have received your application, a member of our Adoption Coordination team will be in touch with you. Next, we would like for you to attend one of our meet n' greets to meet your potential new pup face to face (dates and times will be announced on our Events page). Lastly, we will conduct a home visit and introduction to your family (both human and non-human). Additionally, all of our dogs require an adoption fee. The dogs in the Canine CellMates program are all selected from Fulton County Animal Control, a high-kill facility, which is now under the management of Lifeline Animal Project. Each dog chosen for the program undergoes extensive temperament testing to determine their suitability for the program. Under the supervision of volunteer professional trainers and assistants, the dogs and their handlers spend eight weeks learning basic obedience. Equally important, the dogs are socialized around a variety of people and other dogs during this period. Canine CellMates’ dogs are available for adoption immediately and will be able to go to their forever homes after graduation. Canine CellMates will carefully screen all adoption applications to ensure the right match between dog and person. Like all dogs adopted from FCAS, the Canine CellMates graduates are fully va

Adopting a dog in Clayton County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
