1. Aiden
BIO
Hello! My name is Aiden. I am currently being treated for heartworm. My heartworm treatment will be completed, and I can go home with my family the middle of December 2026. I am housetrained. I am not crate trained. I have been fine when left unsupervised. When meeting strangers I go right up to them without barking and enjoy getting pet. I have been friendly to everyone I meet.I have met other dogs; however, I prefer female dogs about the same size as me. I really love to play with the female dog here at my foster home. I have not met any cats, so I do not know how I feel about them. I don’t really care about toys. I like going for car rides. I walk well on a leash with no reactivity. I know a few commands, but maybe you could teach me more. I love being brushed. Look how handsome I am.I would like to find a home with someone active. Someone who likes hiking and going on adventures. We could go to some obedience classes where I could learn lots of things. I can be an only dog. It would be nice to find a friend and have some play dates to help keep up my social skills since I do enjoy running around and playing. Do you know anyone with a female dog who would like to play with me?

Read more about Maeve
She's already made wonderful progress with her potty training in just a week!Maeve would thrive with an active person or family who can provide plenty of exercise, playtime, and mental stimulation. She would especially love a playful canine companion with a similar energy level, as she may be a bit overwhelming for smaller or senior dogs. Maeve also prefers having company and doesn't enjoy being left alone, so a home where someone is around often would be ideal.Maeve was surrendered when her previous elderly owner experienced health issues. She's ready for a fresh start with a family who can keep up with her playful spirit, give her lots of love, and include her in all of life's adventures. Moose was released from a puppy mill and he is amazing! His personality couldn’t be better. He is approximately 100 pounds, but looks smaller than that. He loves being petted, butt scratched, ears massaged—he is relishing all the attention he is getting from his foster family. He is very good (and patient) with his 3 and 5 yr old house humans. He is good with other dogs from 7# to 140#. You just can’t ask for better. He crates well at night or if you are leaving the house. He is picking up housebreaking quickly. He is available for adoption. Don’t wait—he will be adopted quickly!
Moose is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations and neutered. This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. 22. Dolly
BIO
Hello! My name is Dolly. I will be ready for adoption December 2026, when my heartworm treatment is complete. I am house trained and crate trained. Since I am still so young it is best to keep me on a schedule and crate me when you cannot supervise me. When visitors come to the house, I am calm and well behaved. I do not bark at them. I am slow to warm up to strangers, but I am sweet and affectionate with my family. I have met dogs of different sizes and ages. I have done very well with them. I like to play and run around with other dogs that are my size. I saw a cat and I did not like it. I like playing with stuffed dog toys and chew toys. I like bringing them into my crate along with anything else I find. I know how to play fetch and tug. I walk well on a leash. I am not reactive. I am learning commands. I behave well at the vets and the groomer said I was a good girl. I like staying clean anyway.I would thrive in a household with a lot of love and attention; a schedule suits me best. A resident canine companion about my size to play and run around with. An appropriate fence height is an absolute must; I am very athletic. I would like lots of walks, playtime outside and fun activities. Maybe some training classes, nose work or agility. If you’re looking for a very happy, affectionate girl, here I am.

BIO
Hello! My name is Grady. I am housetrained and crate trained. I should be crated when you cannot supervise me, although I will take a nap with my buddy or chew on my chew toys. I will bark when strangers come to the house. When you tell me quiet, I stop and will approach them if they wait and give me a chance. I have met dogs of different sizes and ages. I have done very well with them. I like to play and run around with other dogs once we become friends. I met a cat once and I didn’t really like it. I do have a strong prey drive. I like playing with chew toys and playing tug. Rope toys are my favorite. I like going for car rides. I’ve done a lot of traveling with my buddy and we were very good. I walk well on a leash with no reactivity. I’ve learned several commands. I behave well for grooming and at the vet’s office.I would like to find a home with a patient family that will give me a chance to adjust and trust them. I don’t like loud or fast, sudden movements. A home with a confident resident canine companion with a fenced yard would be great. We could go for walks and on adventures. Someone who will continue to teach me in a fun and positive way so I become the best boy I can be.

Adopting a dog with children in Skokie
Bring the whole family to meet the dog before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the dog behaves around children your kids' ages.
Teach children to let the dog come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the dog alone while it's eating or sleeping. Give the dog a bed or crate of their own to retreat to, and always supervise young children with a new dog.
Relaxed adult dogs are often a better match for young children than puppies, which jump up, nip and chew while they learn.
