Babushka is Looking For: Hi! The six of us – Bumbleberry, Booparella, Bonbon, Bixie, Barktholomew, and Babushka – are a pretty adorable bunch and have loved our time together in the puppy pile, but we're ready to split up and find our very own homes. Exciting, right?! We're each looking for a family to call our own, where we can explore the world by the side of our humans, burn off all our puppy energy with fun romps, make new pup pals, and head to dog school to show off how smart we are! In exchange, we promise endless love, puppy kisses, and loyalty for all our days. We can't wait to meet you, forever families! We'll show you our best smiles (unless we're in the middle of a puppy nap, then you might just get our sleepy faces!).
What My Foster Says About Me: Coming coon!
Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.

Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered. As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than 3/18/2027. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.

Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog

We think Lacie would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.
Lolie is Looking For: Hi! Me and my littermates - Lacie, Lorenzo and Louie, have loved our time in the puppy pile, but we are ready to split up to get our own homes. I'm looking for one where I get to explore the world by the side of my humans, burn all my young-dog energy in romps, make new pup pals - and go to dog school so I can show how super smart I am! In exchange I promise love and loyalty for all my days.
What My Foster Says About Me: Coming soon!

As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than 03/10/27.

YODA NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Yoda Best Guess for Breed: Terrier/shepherd mix

Best Guess for Age: 6 months as of October 2026 SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 26 pounds as of October 2026 - still has a little growing to do.

Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: DC area foster

Special adoption considerations: In certain home settings--where the environment might be loud or more intense--this dog would do better with another dog in the home to give him confidence.

Read more about Yoda

Yoda is Looking For: My forever family! I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. But most of all I want to know I'm safe and loved, where I belong. I have so many kisses and so much love and loyalty to give in return. What do you say? Do I get to go home with you?
What My Foster Says About Me: Yoda is doing great and has started to show some playfulness with his toys! His coat is SO soft and his ears are adorably floppy. Yoda loves hanging out and napping in his crate and slept through the night in there. On our walk he stopped to sniff everything, and then would quickly stop and go back to get another sniff in. I can already tell he's super smart and curious!
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog .

Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure they can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.

Sasha is Looking For: Me and my siblings Stan, Scotty, and Sawyer loved our time in the puppy pile, but we are each ready to pack our bags and find our very own forever home! When I'm a little older, I can't wait to explore my new neighborhood on lots of walks, and I'd really like to make a bunch of doggie friends along the way. Oh, and I should probably take a puppy obedience class or two so I can show you how smart I am. What do you say? Do you have room in your heart for me?

Estimated Age: About 6 months old (as of 10/27/26)

Best Guess for Breed: Terrier Mix

Weight: About 11-12 lbs (as of 10/27/26)

Lives with and loves: All people (including kids!) and other dogs

Housebroken? She’s working on it!

Read more about Dobby

Story: Dobby was found alone in a crate in a D.C. alley on a chilly morning without food, water, or a blanket. She’s being cared for by neighbors and has had her initial vaccines and vet checkup. She has likely spent her entire life confined to the crate and without appropriate nutrition which has resulted in some growth abnormalities in her legs that make walking a little difficult, though she’s getting stronger everyday. She has the sweetest, most affectionate disposition and has demonstrated remarkable resilience and curiosity now that she’s outside of the crate. She lives with two other small dogs and gets along well with them, though she doesn’t have enough strength for more physical play yet. She would thrive in a home with minimal stairs, maximal cuddles, and lots of love.

Adopting a puppy in Germantown

Puppies usually go to their new homes from about eight weeks old, once they're weaned and have had their first vaccinations. Most rescues spay or neuter them before adoption, or include it in the fee.

Ask the rescue how big the puppy is expected to grow and which breeds they think are in the mix, so you can plan for the dog they'll become.

Puppies need a lot of your time: house-training, a few minutes of training every day, several small meals, and someone home often enough to let them out. A puppy class is a good way to start.
