1. Izzy

Adult (2 years 11 months) · Female · German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) · 9 mi from Glen Burnie

Izzy is an endearing and joyful 3 year old shepherd who loves her people and is good with kids, other dogs and cats.

But, she needs a new home through no fault of her own. Her current family does not have the time to give her the attention, fun play time and exercise that every young shepherd needs.

She is smart and already knows SIT, STAY, OUT, COME, and CRATE. She loves fetch, ropes and nylon bones.

She is currently living with a 7 year old and an 11 month old, as well as a Frenchie and a cattle dog mix. She has lived with a cat and played nicely with it.

2. Arkansas

Adult · Male · Beagle · 24 mi from Glen Burnie

* Please note that we are no longer taking applications for Arkansas. *Hi, I’m Arkansas! At 7 years old and about 30 pounds, I am an easygoing Beagle boy who simply enjoys the quiet rhythms of everyday life.I genuinely love people and want nothing more than to be around my humans, and I'm so patient and wonderful with kids, too! I do great with other dogs, and I’m pretty indifferent toward cats—feline drama isn't really my style, so I just let them do their own thing.I'm also a good house guest - my foster mom says I am housetrained! If you appreciate leisurely walks where every blade of grass gets a thorough sniff (I LOVE walks!), followed by quiet companionship on a soft rug, we’re going to be fast friends.I’m neutered, microchipped, fully up to date on all my vaccines, and I have officially finished my full heartworm treatment and recovery! If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal hound with soulful eyes and a gentle presence, come say hi!

4. Junior

Adult · Male · American Pit Bull Terrier / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed · 16 mi from Glen Burnie

Meet Junior!

Junior is an adorable, 58 pound beefy Pittie/Bulldog mix who is ready for his forever home!

You’d never guess Junior is 8—he looks and acts much younger! He is playful, affectionate, and loves spending time with his people. He’s a great listener and has lots of youthful energy and personality.

Junior is housebroken, crate trained, and does well when left alone. He has boarded overnight and done well, and he is comfortable at the vet. His previous family reported that he had no issues with people handling his toys or bones.

Read more about Junior

Junior has experience with children and other large dogs and generally did well. He seems to especially enjoy female dogs. And an added bonus—he is good with cats!

Junior is an enthusiastic, playful boy who will benefit from a family willing to continue working on impulse control during play. He shows good manners in general! Because he can be a little exuberant during play, we think he would do best with older, dog-savvy children.

At 8, Junior may be a senior on paper, but he certainly hasn’t gotten the memo! He has the playful spirit of a much younger dog while being past the puppy stage.

If you’re looking for a handsome, affectionate, playful Pittie mix who is housebroken, crate trained, good with cats, and ready for his next adventure, Junior might be your guy.

My previous foster family gave me a glowing report card, calling me one of the most affectionate, cuddly dogs they’d ever met! I’m fully housebroken, get along wonderfully with kids, and love making friends with any dog I meet. I’m also super smart and eager to please: I already know "sit," "touch," and "shake," and I'm polishing up my leash walking every day.

6. Sadie

Young · Female · Labrador Retriever / Mountain Cur / Mixed · 18 mi from Glen Burnie

FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED FOR SADIE! Meet Sadie! This beautiful, energetic young lady from South Carolina is still very much a puppy at heart. She loves getting out to walk, sniff, explore, and generally see what the world has to offer—but she's also happy to stop for pets, cuddles, and a serious round of kisses. Check out her CUTE VIDEO! A few things we love about Sadie: She's a people dog. Sadie is sweet, affectionate, and loves attention. If there's a lap available, she's happy to climb into it. She's ready for adventure. Sadie has plenty of energy and loves getting out and about. She'll make a great companion for someone who enjoys walks, exploring, and keeping an active dog busy.

Read more about Sadie

She's ready to learn. Sadie knows “sit,” is working on “down,” and is very treat motivated—which makes training a lot more fun. She loves to play! Sadie enjoys playing with other dogs one-on-one. (check out her the photo of her with her bestie, Stripe!) When there are several dogs together, however, she can become uncomfortable and may react, so smaller social settings are a better fit for her. She has previously done well with cats and children. She's a good traveler. Sadie is calm in the car, making her ready to tag along on adventures near and far. Sadie is still working on her leash skills and would love a home with a yard where she can run and play. She's a sweet, energetic girl who is ready for her next adventure—and plenty of cuddles along the way! PAW adopts in Maryland, DC, northern VA, and southern PA.

7. Natacha

Young (3 years) · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Anatolian Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat) · 9 mi from Glen Burnie

Natacha is a 3 year old, sweet spirited Anatolian Shepherd mix.

She likes to lie in the sun, roll in the grass, and relax on her own bed. She is an intelligent mild manner dog who is easy to teach new tricks. As with many shepherds Natacha does well with routine and exercise. She does require extra encouragement in new places until she gets used to them. She is very loving and can sense human emotions. She is friendly and shy when meeting new people. She would be a very loyal and great companion to someone special.

She is smart and already has some training. She knows SIT, WAIT, UP, EAT, BED, OUTSIDE, INSIDE, NO BEGGING and NO.

Read more about Natacha

Natacha has done well with a 7 year old special needs child, however, she is not adjusting to a newborn.

She has not lived with other dogs. She will sometimes bark at the neighbor's dogs as they all greet each other for a few minutes. She stares at other dogs when she comes across them on walks or at a park.

Natacha was fine temporarily with an older indoor cat that passed away.

She plays with sticks and balls.

Currently, Natacha is living in a very busy home but would do better in a calm and quiet household with older children or no children.

Natacha will thrive in a home with an active family or person who have lots of love and time to give her, playing and being together. In return, you will have a devoted life-time companion to share life’s joys and adventures.

8. Thanos

Young (4 years) · Male · German Shepherd Dog (short coat) · 9 mi from Glen Burnie

Thanos is a 4 year old, energetic, affectionate and devoted shepherd who is looking for a new home with an active family or person. A home where he is the only dog, or where this is another mellow large breed dog is ideal.

He loves taking walks, playing in water and hiking. He is indoor/outdoor so just a small yard with a high fence is great. He loves fetch and carries his ball everywhere.

Read more about Thanos

Currently, Thanos is living with a GSD/Corso who has gotten dominant and aggressive with him, and there was a bite incident. Thanos’ family want the best for him, and despite efforts working with a trainer, he is extremely stressed in the environment, so the dogs must be separated.

Thanos has some training and knows SIT, STAY, RELEASE, COME, LIE DOWN, CRATE and OUTSIDE.

Thanos is great with kids and is loving and protective around them. He lives with children aged 13 and up.

He has lived with another large breed and a small yorkie mix.

Thanos is a quintessential GSD who will thrive with someone who understands the breed and appreciates their energy, intelligence and devotion.

Thanos is in California, but transportation will be provided to his new home.

9. Ziggy

Adult · Male · American Staffordshire Terrier / American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed · 16 mi from Glen Burnie

Courtesy Post...owner is moving back in with parents and cannot bring him so cat-friendly Ziggy is looking for a new home

Meet Ziggy!
Ziggy is a handsome 50-pound Boxer/Pit Bull mix who will be 4 in September.

From his early days in a loving foster home to the family who adopted him as a young dog, Ziggy has always been a cherished companion. After spending the last three years with his adopter, he now finds himself looking for a new home due to changes in his owner’s circumstances—not because of anything Ziggy has done.

Read more about Ziggy

This affectionate boy loves being close to his people and can usually be found relaxing on his favorite spot—the couch! In fact, Ziggy considers the couch his bed and happily sleeps there day and night.

Ziggy is a smart dog who knows sit, stay, place, shake, and down and responds very well to positive reinforcement training. He is both house-trained and crate-trained, making him an easy addition to a new household. He enjoys spending time with his people, learning new things, and earning treats for a job well done.

One of Ziggy’s biggest strengths is his experience living in a home. He has lived with two adult female cats throughout his entire adult life and has done well with them. He currently lives in a single-family home with a backyard, but his owner believes he could adapt well to apartment living provided he receives regular exercise and daily walks.

With other dogs, Ziggy tends to do best with calm, mature canine companions. He has shown that he can coexist successfully with older, laid-back dogs and may benefit from thoughtful introductions and continued positive experiences with other dogs.

Ziggy is up to date on vaccinations, receives monthly NexGard Plus, and eats Fromm dog food. He loves treats of all kinds and enjoys chewing on appropriate bones. Plush toys don’t stand much of a chance with Ziggy, so he prefers durable rubber toys that can keep up with his enthusiasm.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who enjoys both adventure and relaxation, Ziggy may be your perfect match. He is ready to bring his loving personality, good manners, and expert-level couch-snuggling skills to a new forever home.

Please contact (571) 655-1877 if you can help Ziggy.

Bringing a dog home to your cat

Tell the rescue about your cat: their age and how they react to dogs. A dog who has lived calmly with one cat may still want to chase a cat that runs.

Introduce them slowly. Keep them apart for the first few days and swap bedding so they get used to each other's scent, then let them meet with the dog on a leash, rewarding calm behavior.

Make sure the cat can always get somewhere the dog can't reach, like a high shelf or a room behind a baby gate, and keep the litter box and cat food out of the dog's way.
