1. Stassi
Adult · Female · Terrier / Labrador Retriever / Mixed · 24 mi from Glen Burnie

Hi, I’m Stassi! Within ten minutes of walking into my foster home, I was already curled up snuggling—my foster mom says I’m by far the cuddliest dog she’s ever met! I’m a 3-year-old black and white Lab/Terrier mix, and at 35 pounds, I’m a great compact size for squeezing onto the couch right next to you.Back at the shelter, the staff always called me "the perfect dog" because I’m so easygoing. I love people, do great with kids, walk nicely on a leash, and I'm already housetrained. I’ve even gone out to busy adoption events and did great in public! I originally came into the shelter with another dog and really enjoy having dog friends around.

Whether the other dog wants to run around and play or just lounge on the floor, I’m happy to match their energy. I’m spayed, microchipped, and caught up on all my vaccines. If you want a total lovebug who will make your family very happy, come meet me!

2. Demi
Adult · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Mixed · 24 mi from Glen Burnie

Hi, I’m Demi! I’m a 3-year-old, 70-pound German Shepherd mix who just loves being right in the middle of things. I’m super friendly, great with kids, and an easy passenger in the car. I’ve even gone out to busy adoption events and did great with all the new people and activity! I am very food-motivated, so if you have treats in your hand, you have my full attention. That makes teaching me new things pretty easy! As far as other pets go, I’m not a fan of cats, and I don't like dogs that play super rough or get in my face. I’d be happiest in a cat-free home where I can be your one-and-only, or live alongside a calm, polite dog who respects my space. I’m spayed, microchipped, and fully caught up on my vaccines. If you’re looking for a sweet, social shepherd to take on drives and spoil with treats, come say hi!

3. Paisley
Puppy · Female · Shepherd / Great Pyrenees / Mixed · 24 mi from Glen Burnie

Hi, I’m Paisley! My sibling and I recently lost our home when our owner couldn't take care of us anymore, so now I’m on the lookout for a family of my own! My name is Paisley, and I’m an 8-month-old (as of October, 2026) Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix right around 35 pounds.Because I’m still a young girl, I have plenty of fun, goofy puppy spirit left in me, balanced out by a super sweet nature. I love kids, hop right into the car for rides without any fuss, and I’m already about halfway housetrained, so I just need a steady daily routine to help me cross the finish line! My foster mom says I've also been doing great with my crate training and am catching on really well to new things! Right now, she's teaching me "sit," "lay down," and "stay" (where I wait for her to say "free" before I get my treat!), and I'm even learning to wait in my crate until she says the word "release." When I meet new dogs, I tend to be a little shy and submissive for the first few minutes.

Once I know we’re friends, I take my cues from them and adjust right to their speed, whether I'm hanging out with a playful buddy or a total couch potato. On the vet side, everything is done: I’m spayed, microchipped, up to date on my shots, and tested negative for heartworm and tick diseases. I’d love to grow up with a family who has room for a gentle, affectionate pup—come meet me soon!

4. Dior
Adult · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier / American Bulldog / Mixed · 16 mi from Glen Burnie

Courtesy post: Some dogs lose their home once. Dior has lost hers more than once, and somehow, she still has nothing but love to give.
Please take a minute to read Dior’s story. This beautiful girl deserves a happy ending, and we desperately want to help her find it.
Read more about Dior
At just 4 years old, Dior has already experienced more heartbreak than any dog should. She was surrendered by her original owner when she was only a year old, but eventually found what she thought would be her forever home with an elderly couple in their 80s who absolutely adored her. She became her dad’s constant companion. They were inseparable. She stayed by his side, walked gently beside him, and gave him the kind of unconditional love only a dog can give.
Sadly, both of her beloved humans have since passed away. Their neighbor, who is now caring for Dior, stepped in to make sure she wouldn't be left without somewhere to go. But despite their best efforts, Dior needs a new forever family of her own.
And here's the thing about Dior... she is SO easy to love.
She is a professional cuddler who loves nothing more than snuggling up with her person, preferably right in bed beside them. She has a serious obsession with tennis balls, enjoys her outdoor playtime, loves her toys, and knows her commands. She is affectionate, devoted, gentle, and happiest when she has someone to call her own.
Dior is looking for a home where she can be the one and only pet. She deserves a home where she doesn't have to compete for attention or navigate life alongside other animals. She has also shown focused curiosity toward cats, so a cat-free home is recommended.
Dior would do best in a quieter home with a predictable routine, where she can soak up all the love and attention. Her experience with children is limited, so any placement with kids would need careful consideration.
She is currently around 72 pounds and working toward a healthier weight.
We know her perfect person is out there. Someone who wants a loyal companion, a cuddle buddy, a tennis ball enthusiast, and a best friend who will adore them with her whole heart.
Dior has already had to say goodbye to the people she loved most. She deserves to stop wondering where she belongs. She deserves a home where she can unpack her bags, climb onto the couch, steal a spot in bed, and finally know that she's staying.
Let's make sure Dior's next chapter is her forever chapter.
Prince Frederick, Calvert County, Maryland. Her current caretaker is willing to travel for the right home.
Dior is spayed and up to date on vaccines.

She loves all toys and kongs, swimming and running outside.
Olive has been in foster care for well over a year in New York City with another dog but she would prefer being your one-and-only.
She
will thrive in a quieter urban, suburban or rural area, since busy city
streets with trucks and motorcycles can make her anxious.
Olive needs to find a stable, long-term home with an experienced family or person who can give her lots of attention, love, fun times and structure. She does great once she's used to an environment with consistency and care.
If you are looking for a devoted life-time companion to share life's joys and adventures, Olive would love to hear from you.

Young (2 years 11 months) · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Alaskan Malamute / Mixed (short coat) · 9 mi from Glen Burnie

Butters is an intelligent, and affectionate 3 year old dog who has received extensive obedience training, including off-leash commands. She knows numerous commands, is eager to engage, and has so much potential in the right environment.
Butters is incredibly loving and loyal once she trusts someone. She bonds very strongly with her people and loves being close to them. She also loves other dogs and would likely really enjoy having another compatible dog in the home. She will thrive with an experienced, patient owner, a predictable routine, and ideally a home with a yard.
Read more about Butters

Butters wants to be part of the family.
She
is fearful of new people and new things/environments. But once she is familiar, she calms down. If you are an active family or person who has experience with high energy, young dogs, and have the time and love to give Butters a quiet, stable home with lots of exercise, fun times, attention, and guidance, you will be rewarded with a devoted, life-time companion.

7. Izzy
Adult (2 years 11 months) · Female · German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) · 9 mi from Glen Burnie

Izzy is an endearing and joyful 3 year old shepherd who loves her people and is good with kids, other dogs and cats.
But, she needs a new home through no fault of her own. Her current family does not have the time to give her the attention, fun play time and exercise that every young shepherd needs.
She is smart and already knows SIT, STAY, OUT, COME, and CRATE. She loves fetch, ropes and nylon bones.
She is currently living with a 7 year old and an 11 month old, as well as a Frenchie and a cattle dog mix. She has lived with a cat and played nicely with it.
Read more about Izzy
Izzy is the whole package. She will thrive with a family or person who have lots of love and time to spend with her taking walks, being outside and share life’s joys and adventures. A home with a yard where she can run and play will be ideal. If you have room in your heart and home for this special girl, Izzy would love to hear from you.
In return, you will have a devoted and loving life-time companion and cherished family member.

8. Lavender
Adult · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed · 16 mi from Glen Burnie

Meet 2 year old 36 pound Lavender
Lavender came to the shelter as an emaciated stray, so not much is known about her history. But despite whatever she may have been through, she is the sweetest girl you could ever meet. She is dog friendly, kid friendly, crate trained and has yet to meet a stranger. She walks nicely on leash and really enjoys frequent sniff breaks. She may have some hearing difficulty, but what she may lack in hearing, she makes up for in food motivation! No one should have any problem teaching this gal the basics!
Could Lavender be the family member you've been looking for?

9. Arkansas
Adult · Male · Beagle · 24 mi from Glen Burnie

* Please note that we are no longer taking applications for Arkansas. *Hi, I’m Arkansas! At 7 years old and about 30 pounds, I am an easygoing Beagle boy who simply enjoys the quiet rhythms of everyday life.I genuinely love people and want nothing more than to be around my humans, and I'm so patient and wonderful with kids, too! I do great with other dogs, and I’m pretty indifferent toward cats—feline drama isn't really my style, so I just let them do their own thing.I'm also a good house guest - my foster mom says I am housetrained! If you appreciate leisurely walks where every blade of grass gets a thorough sniff (I LOVE walks!), followed by quiet companionship on a soft rug, we’re going to be fast friends.I’m neutered, microchipped, fully up to date on all my vaccines, and I have officially finished my full heartworm treatment and recovery! If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal hound with soulful eyes and a gentle presence, come say hi!

10. Arbie
Puppy (1 month 5 days) · Male · Siberian Husky / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (long coat) · 5 mi from Glen Burnie

Meet the Olivettes - Arbie
Read more about Arbie
Born on September 19, the Olivettes are a very special group of puppies with an incredible beginning. Their mom, Olive, came to us pregnant and out of time in a shelter. We got her to safety and gave her a soft, quiet place to deliver her babies — her first chance at real security. These pups were born into safety, love, and stability, and we intend to make sure their futures reflect that same promise. The Olivettes will be ready for adoption on November 15, and we’d like to have adopters confirmed for all of them. They are healthy, social, vocal, and full of Husky energy — everything you’d expect from a litter raised with confidence and care
Adoption Requirements
To ensure these pups continue to thrive, we have specific requirements for their adoptive homes:
Pick-Up Only: Adopters must plan to pick up their puppy from Virginia Beach, VA or Severn, MD (foster home or rescue). We will not transport puppies at this age.
Socialization Needs: These pups must have another dog in the home. The three puppies remaining require ongoing socialization. We will not place them in a home where there are only senior dogs — that’s not fair to your senior dog.
Spay/Neuter Requirement: All puppies must be spayed/neutered by 6 months old. There are no exceptions to this; licensing requires it.
We provide a spay/neuter appointment with our vet in Maryland.
Out-of-state adopters may use their own vet, but we cover costs only up to what our vet charges. Any difference is the adopter’s responsibility.
Activity Level: These are active, high-energy dogs who will need an active lifestyle.
Prior experience with working breeds is required, and they are not suited to sedentary homes.
Supervision Needs: At adoption age, they can only be left unsupervised for 2-hour intervals. If you work full days outside the home, these pups are not an appropriate match.
Cats: We have no way of knowing if they will be cat-friendly. If you have cats, you must have a safe, solid separation plan in case prey drive develops. We will ask you about this — we do not want to see a dog returned for normal Husky instincts.
Noise Considerations: This is a vocal litter. Please be mindful of your neighbors if you live in a multi-family dwelling.
Fenced Yard Priority: We will be prioritizing homes with fenced yards for safety and appropriate exercise.

13. Clementine
Young · Female · Spaniel / Mixed · 24 mi from Glen Burnie

When I first showed up here, I was painfully skinny, scared of my own shadow, and entirely unsure of what this world had to offer. But with consistent meals, a safe bed, and gentle humans, I didn’t just step out of my shell—I blasted right out of it! Now? Oh, hey, I’m Clementine: a bouncy, affectionate 50-pound Spaniel/Pointer mix who is head-over-heels in love with life! Romping with my buddy Milo in the yard is my favorite sport, and I genuinely believe humans—especially kids—are the greatest invention on the planet. (I haven’t met a cat yet, so they're still a mystery to me.)Because everything out in the world is brand-new and thrilling, I tend to pull on walks like a sled dog.

Having a patient teammate to teach me polite leash manners will be key! I'm all set physically: spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and officially done with my treatment for an old tick bite. If a resilient, joyful adventure buddy sounds like your match, I'd love to say hello!

14. Junior
Adult · Male · American Pit Bull Terrier / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed · 16 mi from Glen Burnie

Meet Junior!
Junior is an adorable, 58 pound beefy Pittie/Bulldog mix who is ready for his forever home!
You’d never guess Junior is 8—he looks and acts much younger! He is playful, affectionate, and loves spending time with his people. He’s a great listener and has lots of youthful energy and personality.
Junior is housebroken, crate trained, and does well when left alone. He has boarded overnight and done well, and he is comfortable at the vet. His previous family reported that he had no issues with people handling his toys or bones.
Read more about Junior
Junior has experience with children and other large dogs and generally did well. He seems to especially enjoy female dogs. And an added bonus—he is good with cats!
Junior is an enthusiastic, playful boy who will benefit from a family willing to continue working on impulse control during play. He shows good manners in general! Because he can be a little exuberant during play, we think he would do best with older, dog-savvy children.
At 8, Junior may be a senior on paper, but he certainly hasn’t gotten the memo! He has the playful spirit of a much younger dog while being past the puppy stage.
If you’re looking for a handsome, affectionate, playful Pittie mix who is housebroken, crate trained, good with cats, and ready for his next adventure, Junior might be your guy.

16. Sadie
Young · Female · Labrador Retriever / Mountain Cur / Mixed · 18 mi from Glen Burnie

FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED FOR SADIE! Meet Sadie! This beautiful, energetic young lady from South Carolina is still very much a puppy at heart. She loves getting out to walk, sniff, explore, and generally see what the world has to offer—but she's also happy to stop for pets, cuddles, and a serious round of kisses. Check out her CUTE VIDEO! A few things we love about Sadie: She's a people dog. Sadie is sweet, affectionate, and loves attention. If there's a lap available, she's happy to climb into it. She's ready for adventure. Sadie has plenty of energy and loves getting out and about. She'll make a great companion for someone who enjoys walks, exploring, and keeping an active dog busy.
Read more about Sadie
She's ready to learn. Sadie knows “sit,” is working on “down,” and is very treat motivated—which makes training a lot more fun. She loves to play! Sadie enjoys playing with other dogs one-on-one. (check out her the photo of her with her bestie, Stripe!) When there are several dogs together, however, she can become uncomfortable and may react, so smaller social settings are a better fit for her. She has previously done well with cats and children. She's a good traveler. Sadie is calm in the car, making her ready to tag along on adventures near and far. Sadie is still working on her leash skills and would love a home with a yard where she can run and play. She's a sweet, energetic girl who is ready for her next adventure—and plenty of cuddles along the way! PAW adopts in Maryland, DC, northern VA, and southern PA.

17. Lupo
Young (8 months) · Male · Siberian Husky / Chow Chow / Mixed (medium coat) · 5 mi from Glen Burnie

Meet Lupo
Lupo is an 8 month-old Husky mix who came to H-E-A-R-T from a local cruelty case, rescued alongside his mom, Jetta, and two of his siblings.
With the help of his foster family — especially his foster Husky siblings — Lupo is doing incredibly well. He’s learning that houses aren't so scary, people can be trusted, and being part of a family is actually pretty great.
Lupo is a high-energy, vocal young guy who loves other dogs, toys, tug-of-war and, perhaps more than anything else, WATER. Pools, swimming, splashing — if there’s water involved, Lupo would like to participate.
At home, Lupo is:
Mostly housebroken
High-energy and vocal
Read more about Lupo
Good with other young, playful dogs
Good on leash, although he can still pull
Still learning bite inhibition and appropriate puppy play
Wary of strangers and sudden movements... But is making daily progress
Lupo is still very much a puppy. He can be mouthy when playing and is an enthusiastic chewer, so continued redirection, crate training, and plenty of appropriate chew toys will help him mature. Because of his energy and play style, he’s best suited for families with children 10+.
Lupo must have another energetic, tolerant dog — he gains confidence from canine companions and has made huge progress with his foster siblings. He needs an active family committed to regular walks, exercise, and patient introductions to new people. A fenced yard isn’t required as long as his family provides consistent leash walks and leashed potty breaks.
And if Lupo could add one special request? A pool or a place to swim. Water is his absolute joy.
Lupo started life learning reasons to be cautious. Now he needs a family — and a canine best friend — who will keep showing him all the reasons he doesn't have to be.
Lupo is being fostered in Virginia and is adoptable from NJ - NC.

18. Jetta
Adult (2 years 2 months) · Female · Siberian Husky / Chow Chow / Mixed (medium coat) · 5 mi from Glen Burnie

Meet Jetta!
Independent, people-focused, and ready for a fresh start.
Jetta came to H-E-A-R-T after being part of a severe local neglect case. She and five other dogs were surrendered to animal control, closing the door on a life none of them deserved. For Jetta, what comes next is a chance to experience something very different — a home where she is safe, included, and genuinely part of the family.
Jetta enjoys being with her people and would do best with a family that wants her involved in their everyday life.
Jetta’s Dream Home
Jetta is looking for:
A family that will make her part of everyday life
Plenty of human companionship
Read more about Jetta
A home where she won’t routinely be left alone for long periods
Patience and consistency while she settles in and learns her new routine
Regular walks, exercise, and enrichment
A secure six-foot Husky-proof fence or a commitment to leash walking
A home where she can be the only dog or share her space with a calm, respectful canine companion
Jetta is non-destructive (although can be curious if you leave things on the counter), crate trained, housebroken, and mostly quiet for a Husky. She's a good eater and doesn't seem to be picky. For a Husky she walks well on a leash.
Jetta has already lived through a chapter no dog should have to experience. What comes next should look very different:
security, consistency, companionship, and a family willing to give her the time she needs to understand that this time, she’s home.
Jetta is located in Maryland.

19. Scarlett
Adult (1 day) · Female · German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) · 9 mi from Glen Burnie

Scarlett is an endearing, intelligent and affectionate 6-year-old shepherd. Her favorite thing beside being with her family is to be outside, or at least watch the squirrels/birds outside in the trees. She is great with older children and other dogs.
She is a wonderful dog; her family loves her very much and wants a better life for her where she can thrive. Currently, she is home alone with 2 other dogs in a small apartment for about nine hours a day and not getting the freedom or attention she deserves.
Read more about Scarlett
She is smart and already knows SIT, STAY, DOWN, COME, LEAVE IT, OFF and other commands. She is trained on an E collar, specifically for off leash work but she
walks nicely on a leash with a gentle lead, a.k.a. Halty.
Scarlett is food driven, which is great for training. She has been to a board and train.
She has lived with children (7 and 9 years old) for several years. She acts the same around children as she does with adults. She is sweet and tolerant, but also enjoys her
space and will go lay down in her bed if she has had enough stimulation.
She has lived with a slightly older male German Shepherd and she is the beta to him. They coexist well, but are not bonded. She has also been to dog daycare and boarding and interacted with a lots of dogs!
Scarlett’s ideal home is one where at least one person is home a decent amount, where she is an only dog (because she’s a little bit of a diva and likes her attention), and where there are older kids, or no kids. A townhome, or a home with a yard would be ideal. She likes car rides and exploring, and would do best in a suburban atmosphere.
She loves having bones or treats.
If you are a family or person with a lot of love to give and looking for a dog that will provide companionship, gratitude, and a steady, loving presence that makes a house feel like home, Scarlett may be your girl. She’s looking for a kind adopter who will give her the attention, love and care she deserves in her next chapter.

Meet Juno
Juno is a 2-year-old female Husky who came to H-E-A-R-T after being found as a stray and put in a Georgia shelter. When overcrowding put her at risk of euthanasia, Juno got her second chance and made her way to H-E-A-R-T’s sanctuary in North Carolina.

21. Minnie
Adult · Female · American Staffordshire Terrier / American Bulldog / Mixed · 16 mi from Glen Burnie

Meet Minnie – The Sweetest Little Meatball Looking for Her Happy Ending ❤️
If love came wrapped in a 100-pound American Bully with wiggly hips, floppy jowls, two different colored eyes, and a toy in her mouth... you'd have Minnie.
At around 3 years old, Minnie has already experienced more than any dog should. She and her sister were kept as junkyard dogs, and after a fight where Minnie was the one injured, she ended up in the shelter while her sister stayed behind. Despite that heartbreaking start, Minnie has never lost her ability to trust and love.
Read more about Minnie
Her current family rescued her from the Prince George's County shelter, helped her recover from kennel cough, and patiently showed her what it means to be safe, cherished, and part of a family. Watching her transform into the happy, goofy girl she is today has been incredible.
Minnie is the definition of a cuddle bug. She follows her people from room to room, adores sleeping in bed, loves giving morning kisses, and believes personal space is highly overrated. She'll happily spend the afternoon sunbathing on the deck, then surprise everyone with joyful evening zoomies before settling in with her favorite toy.
Speaking of toys... Minnie has "her spots" around the house. She carefully picks out a collection of favorites from the toy bin and carries them wherever she's decided to lounge. You can always tell where she's been by the adorable trail of half-shredded toys she leaves behind.
And when her people come home? Get ready for full-body wiggles. She proudly greets everyone by carrying one of her treasured toys, showing it off like she's bringing you the greatest gift in the world.
Minnie is house-trained, loves car rides, enjoys playing in the hose or kiddie pool, knows several commands, loves brushing her teeth, and is happiest simply being near the people she loves. She also does well with larger dogs after proper introductions and has lived peacefully with other dogs, often taking cues from them.
Because of her past, Minnie isn't a fan of being crated or confined, and loud, chaotic homes can make her anxious. She would thrive in a quieter home with a fenced yard, someone home much of the day, and ideally another medium or large dog to be her buddy.
Minnie cannot live with cats or other small animals. After a tragic incident involving the family's cat, her owners made the heartbreaking decision that the safest and kindest choice is to find her a cat-free home. They are committed to making sure she never has to return to the shelter and are determined to find the loving forever family she deserves.
Her family says it best: Minnie deserves all the soft beds, toys, treats, kindness, and unconditional love that life can offer. She's affectionate, loyal, goofy, gentle with her people, and ready to spend the rest of her life making someone smile every single day.
If you're looking for a best friend who will greet you with happy wiggles, share your bed, ride shotgun on adventures, and love you with her whole heart, Minnie may just be the missing piece of your family.
Located in Calvert County, Maryland

22. Indi
Adult · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier / Husky / Mixed · 16 mi from Glen Burnie

Courtesy post: Sometimes the hardest goodbyes aren't just for people.
When Indi lost her canine best friend, she lost a piece of her heart. At the veterinary office, she arrived as her usual happy, social self, eager to greet everyone she met. But the moment her companion passed away, something changed. She became quiet. Calm. She seemed to understand exactly what had happened. It was one of those moments that reminds you just how deeply dogs love and how profoundly they grieve.
Now, Indi is looking for a new beginning.
Read more about Indi
This beautiful Pit Bull/Husky mix (breed mix believed) has the most striking mismatched eyes you'll ever see, but it's her heart that will truly capture you. She's playful, incredibly intelligent, and fiercely loyal to the people she loves.
Fetch is her absolute favorite game, and she'll happily chase a ball until she's convinced you've had enough. But once playtime is over, she's just as content relaxing beside you, soaking up your company. She even "talks" to her people, offers her paw for treats, and always wants to be included in whatever you're doing. She's the kind of dog who isn't just part of the family—she becomes your best friend.
Indi adores people. Adults, children, and strangers quickly become friends, and she loves riding in the car, making her an excellent companion for adventures or everyday errands.
She weighs 75 pounds, is fully house trained, crate trained, and does well staying home during a normal workday. Like many enthusiastic dogs, she's still polishing a few manners—she gets excited enough to jump up to say hello and could use some continued work on leash walking—but she's eager to learn and responds well to positive reinforcement.
Indi would love a fenced yard where she can stretch her legs and chase her favorite ball. She must be in a home without cats. While she has lived successfully with other dogs in the past, careful introductions are always recommended.
She is not currently spayed. She was reported to be up to date on vaccinations when she came into care, though veterinary records are unavailable, so her new family should plan to establish care with their veterinarian for an exam and any needed vaccines.
Most of all, Indi deserves to smile again.
She deserves a family who will help mend her broken heart, celebrate her goofy personality, and remind her that even after loss, life can still be full of joy, adventures, and unconditional love.
Could you be the fresh start she's been waiting for?

23. Thanos
Young (4 years) · Male · German Shepherd Dog (short coat) · 9 mi from Glen Burnie

Thanos is a 4 year old, energetic, affectionate and devoted shepherd who is looking for a new home with an active family or person. A home where he is the only dog, or where this is another mellow large breed dog is ideal.
He loves taking walks, playing in water and hiking. He is indoor/outdoor so just a small yard with a high fence is great. He loves fetch and carries his ball everywhere.
Read more about Thanos
Currently, Thanos is living with a GSD/Corso who has gotten dominant and aggressive with him, and there was a bite incident. Thanos’ family want the best for him, and despite efforts working with a trainer, he is extremely stressed in the environment, so the dogs must be separated.
Thanos has some training and knows SIT, STAY, RELEASE, COME, LIE DOWN, CRATE and OUTSIDE.
Thanos is great with kids and is loving and protective around them. He lives with children aged 13 and up.
He has lived with another large breed and a small yorkie mix.
Thanos is a quintessential GSD who will thrive with someone who understands the breed and appreciates their energy, intelligence and devotion.
Thanos is in California, but transportation will be provided to his new home.

25. Athena & Iris
Adult (3 years 2 months) · Female · Siberian Husky (long coat) · 5 mi from Glen Burnie

Athena and Iris came to us from Frederick County Animal Control after being surrendered as part of a trio of under‑socialized Huskies. Shelter staff initially believed the girls didn’t get along, but once they were safely out and able to decompress, their true relationship became clear. Athena, estimated around 3 years old, and Iris, just a year, are deeply bonded — likely a mother–daughter pair who relied on each other through instability. What began as two misunderstood dogs has revealed itself to be a sweet, protective duo who have only grown closer in foster care. Their dynamic fits perfectly — Athena leads with calm confidence, and Iris follows with trust and devotion.
Read more about Athena & Iris
They enjoy the company of other dogs and will happily play, but always with each other close by. If another dog tries to pick on one, the other steps in without hesitation. Their bond is deep, protective, and incredibly sweet to witness. We'd like to find them a home together.
Athena
Calm, steady, and self‑assured
The emotional anchor of the pair
Helps Iris navigate new experiences
Gentle, sweet, and quietly affectionate
Iris
Young, silly, and still learning about the world
A bit reserved in unfamiliar environments
Gains confidence from Athena’s presence
Sweet‑natured and eager to trust once she feels safe
Because of Iris’s limited exposure and Athena’s grounding influence, the girls will thrive in a
semi‑quiet home
with someone patient and understanding. They don’t need constant activity — just a stable environment, kind guidance, and the chance to continue blossoming together.
Athena and Iris are truly special. They’ve chosen each other, and now they’re ready to choose their person/family.

Adopting a dog with children in Glen Burnie
Bring the whole family to meet the dog before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the dog behaves around children your kids' ages.
Teach children to let the dog come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the dog alone while it's eating or sleeping. Give the dog a bed or crate of their own to retreat to, and always supervise young children with a new dog.
Relaxed adult dogs are often a better match for young children than puppies, which jump up, nip and chew while they learn.
