Meet Chip!

Read more about Chip LOCAL MEET ME

Chip is a sweet playful puppy with a gentle and sensitive nature. He’s the kind of dog that looks to his humans for reassurance especially as he continues to experience many things for the first time. Chip may take a minute to warm up to other dogs and often looks to his humans to make sure everything is ok. Once he feels comfortable, he makes friends and loves to play - he’s quickly blossoming in his RI foster home with playful and welcoming pups. Chip has been around children and done very well. Chip even helped to find a missing kitty for his previous foster mom.

Being an Aussie mix, Chip has the smarts to show for it. This young guy knows ‘sit’ and ‘down’ already and is eager to learn new tricks. Foster mom thinks he may even have a future in agility once he settles a bit into forever home life.

Chip's ideal adopter would be a confident dog owner that’s able to provide structure and reassurance to young Chip as he continues to explore the world. Continued positive social interactions with dogs and people would greatly help Chip to become a confident dog.

Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments. Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well. Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Hi! I’m HoneyBelle, a puppy with a heart full of love! I adore playing with other dogs and have a blast with kids too. Cats? They’re cool in my book! I’m super smart and friendly, always ready for a game or a gentle cuddle. My favorite thing is just going with the flow, whether it’s a quiet day indoors or an exciting adventure outside. I am working really hard on house training and am almost there with just a little more practice. I am good in the crate and am having fun learning to walk on the leash. You know what would be really fun, you and I sign up for some dog training classes together. I hear group training classes are a great way to reinforce important skills, learn some new tricks, and get some quality socialization time with other furry friends.

Looking for a loyal friend who fits right into your family and brings joy every day? I’m your pup! Let’s make wonderful memories together!

Paisley was heartworm positive but she has been treated successfully and now she's ready to travel and find a family of her own. Paisley is crate trained, leash trained and appears to be potty trained. She loves puppies and gets along with other dogs. But if the other dog is too pushy she will put them in their place with a "leave me be" snarl. Paisley can be timid at first but warms up quickly and LOVES people and attention. She has been cat tested and is friendly.

Meet Darling!

Read more about Darling

Darling truly lives up to her name. She came to us from our friends @bostonanimalcontrol after being found as a severely emaciated stray. When she first arrived, it was clear she had been through so much—she was broken, frightened, and badly mistreated. She couldn’t make eye contact, walk down the stairs, or even wag her tail. But within just one day, her foster family began to see something beautiful happening: a little light starting to come back
.
. And now? Darling is SO HAPPY. Her whole body wiggles with excitement, she gives endless kisses, and she’s discovering that the world can actually be a wonderful place.

She’s still learning how to “dog” but she gains confidence every day. She loves to frolic, prance, play, and explore, but she also settles beautifully and is perfectly content curled up in her person’s lap while they work or read. She’s a true cuddle bug who wants to be wherever her people are—and yes, she absolutely needs to sleep in your bed.

Darling is learning about toys and has recently discovered tug, chasing balls, and the joys of chewing on a good pig ear. She walks nicely on leash and she would LOVE a fenced yard where she can zoom and prance to her heart’s content. She’s also been good with cats!

She is still working hard on house training, so her new family will need to continue helping her learn. Most importantly, Darling needs someone who understands her journey and will continue showing her that she is safe, loved, and never needs to be afraid again.

And perhaps the best thing about Darling? After everything she’s been through, she chose love. She wakes up every morning ready to wiggle her entire body, shower her person with kisses, and celebrate another day of being safe. Her foster says her morning routine brings endless joy—and we can absolutely see why.

Darling is ready for a family who will give her a safe home, a yard to frolic in, a bed to sleep in, and a whole lot of love. This sweet girl has so much happiness left to discover.

26. Pip

Young · Male · Labrador Retriever / Mixed · 34 mi from Taunton

Pip is a lab mix weighing 44lbs at around 10 months old, he is an extremely loving and gentle, affectionate boy once he has had a little time to get comfortable with you, and loves to play with all kinds of toys! He is typically more on the mellow, laidback side, and loves to relax on the couch. He would probably do best in a quieter home or with someone that will be patient with him as he can be slightly nervous and timid at times especially when meeting new people or dogs. He may let out a few barks, but after a few moments pass and he realizes you’re there to be friends he is wagging his tail and giving kisses in no time.

Read more about Pip

Pip is potty trained and crate trained. He likes to use his crate as a safe spot, and eats his meals in his crate as well as sleeps throughout the night in there. He does well with a slow introduction to other dogs and is fine with cats, and typically keeps to himself around them, but at times he will get the zoomies and playfully chase my other dogs around the yard. He has not yet been around children younger than 12 years old, but did well with my 12 and 13 year old siblings. He also does well on walks and in the car, and absolutely loves to play in any type of water!

Bringing a dog home to your cat

Tell the rescue about your cat: their age and how they react to dogs. A dog who has lived calmly with one cat may still want to chase a cat that runs.

Introduce them slowly. Keep them apart for the first few days and swap bedding so they get used to each other's scent, then let them meet with the dog on a leash, rewarding calm behavior.

Make sure the cat can always get somewhere the dog can't reach, like a high shelf or a room behind a baby gate, and keep the litter box and cat food out of the dog's way.
