1. Dior
Adult · Male · French Bulldog · 21 mi from Lakeville

Say hello to Dior, an almost 3-year-old French Bulldog with a big personality packed into 23 pounds of brindle perfection! This silly little guy loves being wherever his people are, following you from room to room, soaking up affection, and making sure you always know what he’s thinking with his signature Frenchie grumbles. He’s a total sweetheart who loves to be held and included in all the daily activities. He does have a preference for having his people around. He isn't a fan of being crated when everyone is home and would much rather be out enjoying their company. He may whine briefly in his crate when he's ready to be done or hears people moving around, but he settles down quickly.
Read more about Dior
He can also let out a few short, fairly mild barks when he hears cars, neighbors, or other noises. He isn't typically a prolonged barker when left alone.Dior would love a home where someone is around more often than not and where he can be part of the family. He would appreciate a family who enjoys a little playtime indoors and a couple of short, leisurely walks each day. Due to his current breathing limitations, walks should be kept short with plenty of breaks.Like many French Bulldogs, Dior needs a little extra attention when it comes to his skin. Regular medicated baths and skin moisturizers will be important to keep him comfortable, and he may need seasonal Apoquel if his dry skin isn't adequately controlled. He will also be on a contract for his nares (nostril) and soft palate surgery. His breathing currently limits his exercise, so his adopter should be prepared to continue being mindful of his activity and comfort.Dior is a goofy, affectionate, slightly grumbly little companion who just wants to be loved and included. He has so much personality, so much sweetness, and so much love to give. If you're looking for a loyal little shadow who will make you laugh, keep you company, and happily accept all the cuddles you have to offer, Dior might just be your guy!If you are interested in Dior, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. 2. Delilah
Adult · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Terrier / Mixed · 21 mi from Lakeville

Meet Delilah, a gentle, easygoing girl whose idea of a perfect day involves belly rubs, cozy couch time, and being surrounded by people who love her! This 4-year-old German Shepherd mix weighs 70 pounds and has a heart as big as her love for snuggling. Delilah is a true couch potato who would much rather relax with her favorite humans than go on a long hike or run a marathon. She enjoys leisurely walks, especially when there is plenty of time to sniff and explore and is happy with a couple of short walks each day.Delilah is wonderful with children of all ages and is calm, patient, and gentle when little ones come by to pet her.
Read more about Delilah
She also gets along with other dogs, especially those who are laid-back and respectful of her space. She enjoys playful outings with canine friends but prefers not to roughhouse, and rowdy, reactive, or overly enthusiastic dogs can make her feel nervous. She has also lived with cats in foster homes and reportedly ignores them, making her a potential fit for a home with feline friends. At home, Delilah is quiet, house-trained, and wonderfully content to spend an evening lounging on the couch with her people. She loves belly rubs, affection, and kibble, and she’s recently started discovering the fun of toys! She’s still learning how to play and beginning to get the hang of it. She may not climb into your lap, but she will happily rest her head or a paw against you to stay close. Just be prepared to share the couch, because Delilah is perfectly capable of claiming the whole thing!Delilah does have some separation anxiety and takes medication to help manage it. She may get into a little mischief while you're away, such as relocating your shoes, but she does not need to be glued to your side. She simply likes knowing someone is home and can eventually settle down for a nap when left alone. She is not crate-trained and is uncomfortable with being crated, so her future family should be prepared to accommodate her without relying on a crate. And one more thing about this princess: Delilah is not a fan of wet paws! A little drizzle may earn you a very judgmental look as she wonders why anyone would expect her to venture outside in such conditions. She will happily wait for better weather if given the choice.Delilah would love a home where she can enjoy plenty of companionship, gentle affection, and a relaxed daily routine. A family with multiple people would be especially nice, and another calm, compatible dog could be a bonus, though she doesn't need a canine companion to be happy. If you're looking for a sweet, low-key friend who will happily trade adventure-filled days for cozy evenings and endless belly rubs, Delilah might just be your girl!If you are interested in Delilah, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. 3. Candi
Adult (3 years 10 months) · Female · Greyhound · 24 mi from Lakeville

Calling anyone with a sweet tooth! True to my name, my foster family reports that I am a very sweet girl who loves her naps (I take my retirement very seriously). Slippery floors still make me nervous, and I am still a little unsure about walks (but I am still learning the ropes). Long walks/hikes are probably not for me- I would prefer to spend my days inside snoozing on a comfy dog bed or in my kennel. In fact, I will do my business outside very quickly so I can get back into bed! I am excitedly cautious about meeting new people, but my foster family reports that overall I seem to do well with people, other dogs, and can be redirected away from cats/small animals. Do you need a little "Candi" in your life?

4. Beretta
Adult (3 years 10 months) · Female · Greyhound · 24 mi from Lakeville

Beretta's the name, and loving people and walks is the game! My foster family reports that I am a very sweet and friendly girl. I am always super excited when I get a chance to meet new new people and new dogs. I enjoy going on a good walk where I can sniff all of the things. I would love to chase small furry animals on walks, so a home without cats or small animals would be best. I am still working on learning how to go up long flights of stairs and being left alone in my kennel, but I do enjoy relaxing in my kennel when people are home during the day. I just love people and want to be with them as much as possible! If you're looking for a velcro dog, I'm your girl!

5. Luli
Adult (3 years 1 month) · Female · Greyhound · 24 mi from Lakeville

Hi, I'm Luli! My foster family reports that I am a very sweet, quiet girl who enjoys a good backyard play session with my canine foster siblings. I tend to follow the humans around the house to keep an eye on them. I adore attention, and will make it easy for you to pet me by laying my head on you. I am a little hesitant with slippery floors and prefer to have a rug or carpet under my feet, but my foster family is working on this with me. I don't have a super high prey drive- I like to look at the small creatures, but not lunge. I currently live with two cats that I do very well with, and I enjoy resting in my kennel. My foster family reports that I do very well on leash and would love to go on long walks. Will you be my walking buddy?

6. Sally
4 Years 1 Month · Female · Boxer (long coat) · 23 mi from Lakeville

Read more about Sally
Hi! Hi! Hi! Did I say hi yet? My name is Sally, but sometimes my foster mom calls me Salligator, Salmonella. I’ll respond to pretty much anything, especially when you tell me I’m a pretty girl. My fur must be velcro, because I Absolutley am stuck to my humans side
24/7
. I get anxious when you’re not around, but I promise to behave when you’re gone! That leads me to the thing they call a kennel. Can we just say, no thank you?! I am working hard on kennel training but it’s very scary for me. You see, I just want to be near and beside my humans at all times. I’m also working hard on commands. I know sit, stay, and am so close to mastering heel. I live with a thing that meows, but I really don’t mind it! I’m interested in the cat, but I don’t chase. I’ve been waiting patiently to be near the cat, and we finally sat together a few days ago! I love sleeping on the bed with my person/people. Walking? I’m a pro. I don’t pull on the leash, and I don’t zig-zag too much. If I see another dog on a walk, I just look in its direction. Call me to come and keep walking and I will! Seeing other humans on walks doesn’t bother me either. I am just eager to share my love with everyone! My foster mom says I’m one of the quietest Boxers ever… except for my snoring! I also live with tiny human that has special needs, and I’m so gentle with her! Again, just being near my humans is where I want to be. My foster mom says I’m an ambassador for being America’s Sweetheart!

7. Simba
Adult (1 year) · Male · Boxer (short coat) · 23 mi from Lakeville

COMING SOON TO RESCUE: I was found as a stray. It's unclear how long I was on my own as I have a lot of defensive wounds at various stages of healing. Stay away from coyotes and don't turn your back! I'm hesitant at the moment around other dogs, but hopefully once I'm healed other animals won't feel so scary. I'm very sweet with my humans and love cuddling with the kids. I'm being crate trained and so far, it looks like I'm housetrained. I like to go for walks, even the kids can walk me. I'm fairly calm, but I'm sure once I heal, I'll be the bouncy , goofy pup I'm meant to be!

8. Murphy
Adult (2 years 8 months) · Male · Cockapoo / Mixed (long coat) · 19 mi from Lakeville

Meet Murphy! Your New Best Friend and Professional Cuddle Buddy! ❤️
If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, playful companion who will always be by your side, Murphy might just be your guy!
Murphy is a happy, confident, loving boy who absolutely adores his people. Whether he's snoozing on a dog bed next to your desk while you work, carrying around his favorite toy, joining you for a walk, or snuggling up on the couch at the end of the day, Murphy's favorite place is wherever you are. He's a true little shadow who will happily keep you company and make sure you never feel lonely!
Read more about Murphy
Murphy is a fun combination of playful and laid-back. He enjoys toys, fetch, squeaky plushies, snuffle mats, and especially spending quality time with his humans. He's energetic and enjoys getting out for walks and playtime, but once he's had some exercise, he's more than happy to settle in and relax. He also loves exploring the world with his nose, so leisurely sniff-filled walks are right up his alley! A fenced-in yard would be a wonderful bonus.
He's fully potty trained, leash trained, and a smart boy who is eager to learn. He already knows "sit" and "shake" and is working on improving his recall. He's also friendly and confident when meeting new people and is always happy to accept attention from anyone willing to give it!
Murphy gets along well with other dogs, although he generally prefers playing with his human friends. He's also very cat-savvy! He hasn't been around children, so a proper introduction and assessment would be important. One thing to know is that Murphy can be protective of high-value treats like bones around other dogs, so he'll need his own space to enjoy those special goodies.
Murphy's biggest challenge is being away from his people. He struggles with separation anxiety and can bark persistently when left alone, even when other dogs are present. His ideal home would be with someone who works from home, is retired, or otherwise spends most of their time at home. He is working on building confidence with alone time, and he'll need a patient family willing to continue helping him with that. Car rides can also make him anxious, although he enjoys feeling the breeze when the weather is nice!
At the end of the day, Murphy isn't asking for much. He just wants a family to love, a cozy spot to nap, toys to play with, walks to sniff, and plenty of opportunities to be close to his favorite people.
If you're looking for a devoted companion who will be your shadow, your cuddle buddy, your walking partner, and your very best friend, Murphy is ready to meet you! ❤️
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. 15. Isle
Adult (1 year 5 months) · Male · Dachshund (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeville

Meet Isle!
Isle is a handsome one-year-old long-haired Dachshund who is ready to find his forever home! This sweet boy loves being with his people and is happiest when he can snuggle up in your lap and be part of whatever you’re doing. He’s also a big fan of going for walks and is a wonderful leash walker. When he’s not out exploring, you can usually find him happily chewing on a bone or playing with his favorite stuffed toys.
Read more about Isle
Like many Dachshunds, Isle has a voice and isn’t afraid to use it! He can be vocal when he hears unfamiliar sounds or notices people in his surroundings. He’s still working on his potty training, but he does well when kept on a consistent schedule.
Isle gets along well with other dogs and has done well with cats, too. While he hasn’t shown aggression toward children, he isn’t particularly fond of their high energy, so a home with older, calmer kids or adults may be the best fit for him.
A securely fenced yard is a must for Isle. If something startles him, he may take off running, so having a safe, enclosed space is important.
Isle is a total stage-five clinger who wants to be his person’s constant companion! ❤️ As he’s settling in and becoming more comfortable, he’s showing some separation anxiety and has become very attached to his foster. We think he would do best in a home where someone is home most of the time and is looking for a true companion to share their day with.
Isle also seems to bond closely with one person and takes a little time to warm up to other members of the household. We’ve also noticed that he seems wary of men. He isn’t showing aggression, but he can be very cautious, barking and running away when he feels unsure. Since we don’t have any men living in our home, we can’t say for certain how he would adjust to having a man in his everyday environment, so this is something his future family should be prepared to work on gently and patiently.
Isle is a sweet boy with so much love to give, but he does have some things he’ll need help working through. He’ll thrive with someone who understands that building confidence takes time, can provide reassurance without rushing him, and is willing to help him learn that being alone can be safe, too.
At the end of the day, Isle is a young Dachshund who simply wants to be close to his person. He’s looking for a family who will give him love, patience, consistency, and plenty of opportunities to snuggle. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who will happily join you for walks and then curl up in your lap afterward, Isle might just be your guy!

16. Yurman
Adult (2 years 5 months) · Male · Shih Tzu / Bichon Frise / Mixed (medium coat) · 19 mi from Lakeville

Meet Galaxy Destroyer (Yurman)!
Galaxy Destroyer arrived feeling scared and unsure of people. During his first few days, he was so frightened that he even tried to escape the fenced yard. But with time, patience, and a little encouragement from his canine friends, this sweet boy has made wonderful progress!
Today, Galaxy Destroyer confidently heads outside with the other dogs and comes back into the house when called. He looks to his canine companions for reassurance and guidance, following their lead as he continues to learn that the world—and the people in it—can be safe and kind.
Read more about Yurman
Galaxy enjoys treats and will occasionally play with toys when he feels comfortable. Loud noises can startle him, so he’ll need a calm, understanding home where he can settle in at his own pace without being rushed or pressured.
His ideal home? A patient, loving family with a securely fenced yard and another friendly, well-adjusted dog to be his buddy. Having a confident canine companion will help Galaxy continue building trust and discovering the joys of being part of a family.
Galaxy Destroyer may need a little extra time to let his guard down, but underneath that initial shyness is a sweet boy with so much love to give. ❤️ With a safe environment, a doggy friend, and someone willing to believe in him, Galaxy has every opportunity to keep blossoming.
Could you be the person who helps Galaxy Destroyer discover that he’s finally home?

18. Archie
Puppy (5 months 24 days) · Male · Maltese (medium coat) · 19 mi from Lakeville

Meet Baby Archie!
“Are you ready for some puppy kisses?” — Love, Archie!
Archie is the sweetest little guy with a big heart and so much love to give! At home, he’s completely comfortable and loves prancing around the house, checking in on every room to make sure he doesn’t miss a thing. He’s a perfect mix of playful and cuddly, with little bursts of energy when he’s ready to play and a love for squeaky toys. Once he’s all tuckered out, he’s more than happy to curl up in your lap for a nice, long nap. ❤️
Read more about Archie
This little shadow loves his people and wants to be wherever they are, preferably 24/7! Whether you’re lounging on the couch, going for a walk, or just going about your day, Archie is happiest by your side. He does well out in the world, but cars, people, and other dogs can be distracting. He can also be a little shy when strangers get too close, so he appreciates having the opportunity to approach people on his own terms. Loud noises can startle him, too, so a patient and understanding family will help him feel safe and secure.
Archie is still working on becoming fully potty trained, but he’s making progress and has minimal accidents when kept on a consistent potty schedule. He also experiences separation anxiety, so he would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time or where he has another companion to help keep him company.
If you’re looking for a little best friend who will happily snuggle in your lap, join you on walks, entertain you with his playful antics, and shower you with puppy kisses, Archie might just be your perfect match! He has so much love to give and is ready to find his forever family.
I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready!
**Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work!

19. Nokomis
Puppy (5 months 16 days) · Male · Maltese (medium coat) · 19 mi from Lakeville

Meet Nokomis — A Sweet Little Puppy Looking for His Forever Home!
Are you ready to add a little sweetness, silliness, and puppy love to your life? Meet Nokomis! This adorable little guy is looking for a loving forever home where he can grow, learn, and become the very best version of himself. ❤️
Read more about Nokomis
Nokomis is a happy, playful puppy who is full of personality! He has that special puppy charm that makes him so easy to fall in love with. He enjoys playing, exploring, and, of course, treats! If there’s food involved, you can bet Nokomis will be interested. His love of treats may also come in handy as he continues learning new things and building his confidence.
While Nokomis has a fun and playful side, he can be a little cautious when meeting new people. He may need some extra time to feel comfortable around someone new, so a patient and understanding family will be important for him. Rather than rushing him, allowing him to approach at his own pace and rewarding his brave moments will help him learn that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. Once he feels more comfortable, his sweet personality has so much room to shine!
Like many puppies, Nokomis is still learning all about the big world around him. Leash training is a work in progress, and right now, he sometimes freezes when he’s on the leash. He will need someone willing to work with him patiently, offering plenty of encouragement, gentle guidance, and tasty treats along the way. With time, consistency, and positive reinforcement, he can continue building confidence and learning that the leash can be part of fun adventures, exercise, and those important potty breaks.
Nokomis is also working on crate training. He can be vocal in his crate and may take a while to settle down, so his future family should be prepared to help him learn that his crate is a safe, comfortable place to relax. Patience, consistency, and a gentle approach will be important as he adjusts to his new surroundings and routine.
Please remember that Nokomis is still a puppy! He is learning, growing, and figuring out what is expected of him. He won't have everything mastered overnight, but with a family willing to invest time, love, and positive training, he has the opportunity to make wonderful progress. ❤️
✨ What makes Nokomis special? He's sweet, cute, and full of personality. He's happy and playful, with plenty of puppy fun to share. He loves treats and food, making them great tools for training. He has a softer, more cautious side that deserves patience and understanding. He's a work in progress who needs someone willing to help him learn and grow.
Nokomis is looking for more than just a place to live. He needs a family who will see his potential, celebrate his little victories, and stand by him as he gains confidence in new situations. Someone who understands that the best relationships take time and that watching a puppy blossom into a confident, loving companion can be one of life's sweetest rewards.
Imagine all the happy moments ahead: watching him discover his favorite toys, celebrating when he learns something new, enjoying playful puppy antics, and building a bond that grows stronger every day. With the right person by his side, Nokomis has so many wonderful experiences waiting for him!
If you have a loving heart, a little patience, and a willingness to help a young pup navigate the world, Nokomis may be the perfect addition to your family.
Nokomis is ready to start the next chapter of his life. Could that chapter be with you? ❤️
If you are looking for a best fr

21. Maverick
Adult · Male · Chihuahua / Dachshund (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeville

Welcome Maverick to CCPAL Foster Program. Maverick is a 4-year-old Chiweenie. He weighs about 19 pounds. He is good on a leash, good in a car. He is potty trained and very loyal to his person. He knows “go for a walk”, “stop”, “leave it”, “It’s the neighbor” and a few other commands. He is in a home and the owner is having some very big financial issues and need to find Maverick a new home. Maverick has some allergies to food and the food that he can is a Duck and Potato kibble. He has some allergies to grass. He has taken Apoquel successfully to handle the allergies. He warms up slowly and is very loyal and bonded once he has bonded. He would be great for a senior couple or single wanting a companion. A nice yard for him to get exercise in would be nice or someone that could have the time to take him on a couple of walks would be great. He isn’t the social butterfly that some dogs are so a matching owner would be the best fit. He would be a great dog to alert you to someone at the door or something being off in the environment. He is good on walks and would help a senior be more active. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He could go with children but we would like them to be teens. I think a quieter home would be best for this boy. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

22. Pooh Bear
Young · Female · Labrador Retriever / Terrier / Mixed · 21 mi from Lakeville

If you’re looking for a best friend who wants to be involved in absolutely everything you do, Winnie might just be your girl! Pooh Bear, affectionately called Winnie, is a 1-year-old, 45-pound Lab mix with a BIG personality and an even bigger heart. She is goofy, playful, incredibly affectionate, and truly just loves being loved.Winnie’s favorite place in the world is wherever her people are. She is an expert snuggler, professional morning kiss giver, and would happily spend an entire evening curled up beside you on the couch. She loves being part of whatever her humans are doing and will happily follow you around the house just to make sure she doesn’t miss anything.
Read more about Pooh Bear
And when she wakes up in the morning, she is especially excited to see her people and is more than happy to cover them in kisses! But don’t let her cuddly side fool you. This girl LOVES to play! Give her a stick, a stuffy, a bully stick, or a doggy friend and she is ready for a good time. Winnie loves romping around with her foster family’s resident dog, playing outside, going for walks, and proudly carrying around whatever treasure she finds in the yard. She even loves a good game of chase, especially when she has a stick she absolutely refuses to give you!Winnie does great with other dogs and would love having a playful canine buddy. She can be a little enthusiastic when meeting new friends, and personal space is still a work in progress, so her jumping and excitement may be a lot for some dogs at first. Once everyone settles in, though, she absolutely loves having a friend to play with. She has also been working hard on her house training and is doing great! With a consistent routine, accidents have become very few and far between, although she may still have an occasional overnight accident as she continues to learn. Winnie sleeps wonderfully in her crate overnight and settles right in for bedtime. Her biggest work in progress is being home alone. Winnie has separation anxiety and can bark continuously when her people leave, so she would thrive in a home where someone is around often, such as a work-from-home household. She would also do best with someone who has the time and patience to continue helping her learn that being alone is okay. Because of her barking when left alone, apartment or shared-wall living would probably not be the best fit for her.And cats? Winnie actually LOVES a good kitty snuggle and has lived with a cat. She has been known to cuddle up with and even groom her feline friends. However, she can occasionally become reactive or possessive of a comfy spot when she’s settled in, so a cat-free home may be the easiest fit. A home with cats could potentially work with humans who are comfortable managing those moments and continuing to help Winnie learn about sharing her space.More than anything, Winnie is a ridiculously sweet, people-oriented girl who loves her humans with her whole heart. She’ll make you laugh, follow you around the house, convince you to chase her for the stick she absolutely refuses to give you, cover you in morning kisses, and then curl up beside you like she hasn’t seen you in three years.Winnie is a young pup who is still learning, but she has SO much love to give. She wants to be included, loved, and part of the family. In return, she promises cuddles, goofy games, playful adventures, endless kisses, and a whole lot of love. Whoever gets to call Winnie theirs is getting one seriously special girl.If you are interested in Pooh Bear, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. 23. Shelby
Adult (6 years 1 month) · Female · Maltese (medium coat) · 19 mi from Lakeville

Meet Shelby! A Tiny Maltese with a Big Personality!
Hi, I’m Shelby! I’m a tiny Maltese with a whole lot of love, a playful spirit, and a personality that makes me seem much younger than I am!
I’m a very friendly little girl who loves being around my people and making friends with other dogs. I’m currently living with three little dogs in my foster home (Maltese and Poms), and I get along great with them! I’d love a home where I can have plenty of companionship, cuddles, and playtime.
Read more about Shelby
One of my favorite things in the whole world is my stuffed squeaky toys! You’ll often find me happily trotting around with one in my mouth, showing off my favorite treasure. When I’m not busy playing, I’m more than happy to snuggle up on the couch with my favorite humans.
I’m a pretty easygoing girl overall, and I do well spending the night loose in my foster home. I’m not a big fan of kennels, though, and I can be vocal when crated or left alone for a while. I may need a little patience and understanding as I settle into my forever home.
Because I’m so tiny, I’ll need a family that keeps my safety in mind. I can squeeze through surprisingly small openings in chain-link fencing, so I’ll need close supervision whenever I’m outside. I’d also do best with other small, gentle dogs rather than large, active dogs who might accidentally hurt me during playtime.
I have so much love to give and a fun, youthful spirit that will keep you smiling! Whether we’re playing with squeaky toys, hanging out with other little dogs, or cuddling on the couch, I’m happiest when I’m with my people.
Could you be my forever family? If you’re looking for a tiny, friendly, playful companion who’s ready to fill your home with love, I might just be your girl! ❤️

24. Lulu
Adult (7 years 2 months) · Female · Maltese (medium coat) · 19 mi from Lakeville

Meet Lulu the Maltese — Looking for Her Forever Home! ❤️
Sweet Lulu is still learning about the comforts of home and discovering what it means to feel safe and loved. She’s a curious little girl who enjoys exploring her surroundings and being held by her trusted humans.
Lulu loves having a furry friend! She follows her foster sister around and seems to take comfort in having another dog nearby. She enjoys picking up little toys, especially soft or rubber ones, even if she hasn’t quite figured out how to play with them yet.
Read more about Lulu
Lulu is still building her confidence and will need a patient, understanding family willing to let her settle in at her own pace. The world can be a scary place for this little girl, and she is very fearful of new things. She is not leash-trained yet and is a flight risk, so her safety will need to be a top priority while she learns to trust her new surroundings.
Lulu is looking for a home that offers:
A patient, loving family who will give her time to blossom.
A friendly companion dog to help her feel safe and secure.
A safe, secure environment with extra precautions to prevent escapes.
Gentle encouragement as she learns about leash walking and the big world around her.
Plenty of love, cuddles, and understanding. ❤️
Lulu may need a little extra time to feel comfortable, but with patience, consistency, and a canine friend by her side, she deserves the chance to discover just how wonderful life can be.
✨ Could you be the safe haven this precious little Maltese girl has been waiting for?

25. Little Big Foot Special Needs
Puppy (3 months 26 days) · Male · Boxer · 23 mi from Lakeville

COMING SOON:
I'm just a tiny baby! I was born without a right hip joint and only a partial left hip joint. So far, it doesn't affect my movements. Only time will tell if this will be a problem for me or not. I'm just too teeny to know right now. Some dogs fare quite well and I like to think that'll be me! I'll need a family who is up for regular vet visits and physical therapy to keep the muscles around my joints strong. In return, I promise to be the best boy who will give you all the puppy snuggles and kisses your heart desires.

27. Cuyon
Adult (5 years 1 month) · Male · Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeville

Hi, my name is Cuyon!
I’m a very cuddly boy at home, and I’ll happily seek you out and invade your personal space whenever I get the chance. I’m also your typical Chihuahua, which means I take my job as the neighborhood watch very seriously. If I think someone might be thinking about coming close to the house, I’ll make sure you know about it!
Read more about Cuyon
Outside the home, I love getting out and sniffing all the new things around the neighborhood. I’m a confident boy on walks and am always happy to check things out. I’m also a big fan of treats—any and all treats, please! Squeaky toys are another favorite, although I may guard them a little (I’m getting better!). But honestly, cuddles will win me over every time.
I’m an independent Southern boy with a strong codependence on my people when it’s time to relax. My name is Cuyon for “foolish” or “silly,” and it fits me pretty well. Don’t worry—we’ll help you learn how to pronounce it correctly!
I’m an expert wiggler when I’m excited, and I have a very strong opinion about food. If there’s something delicious in your hand and I’m not getting it, you’re definitely going to hear about it. One of my greatest accomplishments is my play bow, and seeing it for the first time is truly a gift—and an invitation that should absolutely be accepted!
Toys can be a little complicated, though. I need some time to trust you with the important responsibility of throwing my toy or giving it back to me. Luckily, I’ll be bringing my favorite gorilla toy along with me.
I do take some time to warm up. I want to know that you aren’t going to force a friendship before I decide you’re worthy of my attention. Once I make that decision, though, I can really go all in! I’m not a fan of manicures or pedicures, but I’m learning that being held like a baby might come with some pretty great perks.
I would do best with older kids who understand personal space and can respect my boundaries. I’m great with other dogs, respectfully curious about cats, and I’m pretty good at letting you know when I’ve had enough attention. Think of my little grumbles as my way of saying, “Thank you, that’s quite enough affection for now.”
If you’re ready to be judged from across the room, challenged to meet my cuddle standards, and entertained by one very silly Southern boy, then I might just be the guy for you.
Come meet me, and bring the treats. I’ll bring the wiggles, the cuddles, and my favorite gorilla.

28. Walter
Adult (5 years 1 month) · Male · American Bulldog (short coat) · 19 mi from Lakeville

Meet Walter! ❤️
Hi, my name is Walter, and I’m a big sweetheart who is learning that the world can be a pretty wonderful place when you have people you can trust. I’ve been slowly coming out of my shell in my foster home, and while I can be cautious and shy at first, I’m making progress every day. I may need a little time to feel comfortable in a new environment, but once I know I’m safe, my loving and affectionate personality really starts to shine.
Read more about Walter
One of my favorite things in the whole world is getting attention from my people. I absolutely LOVE being pet, and belly scratches are pretty much the way to my heart! I also have a funny habit of making myself into a lap dog. I may be a big guy, but that certainly doesn’t stop me from wanting to climb up next to you and cuddle. If you’re looking for a companion who will happily snuggle up with you and soak up all the love you’re willing to give, I might just be your guy.
I also really enjoy having canine friends. I love other dogs and can be playful with them. I currently live with two small dogs in my foster home, and I’ve been very respectful of their size and space. Having another confident, friendly dog around may even help me continue to build my confidence. I’m also okay with cats, although I sometimes forget that they aren’t supposed to be a fun game of chase! Because of that, any cats in my future home would need proper supervision and introductions.
I’m becoming more interested in toys, too! I’m still discovering what toys are all about, but large plush toys have definitely caught my attention. I’m sure with time, patience, and encouragement, I’ll continue to discover more things that I enjoy.
I’m also starting to enjoy going on walks. There is still some work to do in the leash-training department, though! I’m an extremely strong boy, and when I see another dog, I can get VERY excited and want to pull toward them. My foster family is helping me work on my leash manners, and I’ll need someone who is patient, consistent, and willing to continue that training with me. I already know some basic commands, including sit, go potty, outside, and kennel, so I’m definitely capable of learning and continuing to improve.
One thing that is especially important for me is having access to a secure, fenced yard every day. I absolutely love the freedom of being able to safely explore and enjoy a fenced-in space, and it’s something I would really benefit from having in my forever home. A fenced yard will also give me a great opportunity to get exercise, sniff around, play, and simply enjoy being a dog without the pressure of a leash.
I can be sensitive to overwhelming commotion, and busy or chaotic environments can be scary for me. I would do best with a family who understands that I may need some time to adjust and decompress when I first arrive. A calm, patient home where I can settle in at my own pace would help me feel secure and allow my true personality to come out. I don’t need someone to rush me—I just need someone willing to give me the time and reassurance I deserve.
I’m still healing physically, too. I’m currently finishing antibiotics after having an abscess that has cleared up. I have some scars around my neck, as well as a few scabs that are continuing to heal. My elbows also have some rough spots and scabs that should continue to improve with time and proper care.
Despite everything I’ve been through, I’m an incredibly loving boy. I’m learning to trust, learning to play, learning to enjoy walks, and learning that I can relax and be loved. I have so much potential, and I’m already showing what a wonderful companion I can be.
I’m looking for a forever family who will be patient with me, give me time to adjust, continue helping me with my leash skills, and appreciate all the love and cuddles I have to offer. In return, I’ll give you a whole lot of affection, companionship, and probably more than a few attempts to convince you that I absolutely belong in your lap!

Senior Golden Girl here! I'm hanging out here at Shady Pines and though they're nice to me, I would like to get out of here and into a home with some roommates. I don't mind other dogs or cats. My retirement home can have kids but I prefer older, respectful kids because my eyesight and hearing aren't what they used to be. I'm great on a leash and enjoy strolls through the neighborhood. I'm very sweet and love pets. Want to be my Golden Girl?

Bringing a dog home to your cat
Tell the rescue about your cat: their age and how they react to dogs. A dog who has lived calmly with one cat may still want to chase a cat that runs.
Introduce them slowly. Keep them apart for the first few days and swap bedding so they get used to each other's scent, then let them meet with the dog on a leash, rewarding calm behavior.
Make sure the cat can always get somewhere the dog can't reach, like a high shelf or a room behind a baby gate, and keep the litter box and cat food out of the dog's way.
