1. Josie
Puppy · Female · Chihuahua / Pug (short coat)

Welcome Josie to CCPAL Rescue. Josie is a Chug (Chihuahua/Pug) puppy. She weighs 4 pounds and is 9 weeks old. She will be a small dog full grown. She should be 12 pounds or less. She is very sweet and has an adorable rounded head. She likes to be held, is good in a crate, goes on a wee pad and loves to play with toys. She was born at the Rescue. They took in a stray female and she was pregnant. This means the puppies get lots of attention and are very used to being in a loud and rowdy environment. Josie would be best in a home that the person doesn’t work all day every day. She needs to finish up her puppy training. Social pups make great adults and now is the time for her to spend time with her family and to go places and let people pet her. She is an AMAZING puppy. She would be fine with children. Due to her small size, we would like children to be 8 or older. She is getting her puppy vaccines and will have 3. She will then be ready for spay and adoption. She can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

3. Dior
Adult · Male · French Bulldog

Say hello to Dior, an almost 3-year-old French Bulldog with a big personality packed into 23 pounds of brindle perfection! This silly little guy loves being wherever his people are, following you from room to room, soaking up affection, and making sure you always know what he’s thinking with his signature Frenchie grumbles. He’s a total sweetheart who loves to be held and included in all the daily activities. He does have a preference for having his people around. He isn't a fan of being crated when everyone is home and would much rather be out enjoying their company. He may whine briefly in his crate when he's ready to be done or hears people moving around, but he settles down quickly.
Read more about Dior
He can also let out a few short, fairly mild barks when he hears cars, neighbors, or other noises. He isn't typically a prolonged barker when left alone.Dior would love a home where someone is around more often than not and where he can be part of the family. He would appreciate a family who enjoys a little playtime indoors and a couple of short, leisurely walks each day. Due to his current breathing limitations, walks should be kept short with plenty of breaks.Like many French Bulldogs, Dior needs a little extra attention when it comes to his skin. Regular medicated baths and skin moisturizers will be important to keep him comfortable, and he may need seasonal Apoquel if his dry skin isn't adequately controlled. He will also be on a contract for his nares (nostril) and soft palate surgery. His breathing currently limits his exercise, so his adopter should be prepared to continue being mindful of his activity and comfort.Dior is a goofy, affectionate, slightly grumbly little companion who just wants to be loved and included. He has so much personality, so much sweetness, and so much love to give. If you're looking for a loyal little shadow who will make you laugh, keep you company, and happily accept all the cuddles you have to offer, Dior might just be your guy!If you are interested in Dior, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

8. Eddie Munster
Young · Male · Wirehaired Fox Terrier

Meet Eddie Munster, a little dog with a big personality, an adorable underbite, and a heart that just needs a little time to feel safe! At 9 months old and 16 pounds, this tan Wirehaired Terrier is a sweet, playful little guy who loves snuggling with his people, playing with other dogs, and discovering all the fun things life has to offer.Eddie was quite nervous when he first arrived in foster care, but he's making progress every day. He enjoys toys, games of chase with other dogs, and exploring on walks. Crunchy fall leaves are a particular favorite, and he loves plowing through them! He's also a champion blanket snuggler.
Read more about Eddie Munster
Rather than lying on top of his blankets, he'll bunch them up and curl around them like he's spooning a friend.Eddie gets along well with other dogs and would enjoy a canine companion who likes to play without being too intense. He's also done well around his foster family's young granddaughters, but because he can be skittish, a home with children 13 and older is recommended. His experience with cats is limited, so that's still an unknown.Eddie does need a little extra patience and understanding when it comes to handling. When he was found, he was severely matted, including around his neck and face, and needed to be sedated and shaved to safely remove the mats. While we don't know exactly what he experienced before coming into rescue, he is now very uncomfortable with having a collar, harness, or leash put on or taken off. When he feels frightened or overwhelmed during this process, he may use his mouth to express his discomfort. His foster family is working with a trainer to help him feel more comfortable with handling, and he's making progress. He currently walks successfully using a slip lead, but his future family will need to be patient and committed to continuing his training with gentle, positive reinforcement. Building trust and helping Eddie feel safe will be an important part of his journey.Eddie is also still learning his potty-training skills and making progress, especially with frequent outdoor breaks. He settles into his crate fairly quickly once he's inside, although he isn't a fan of going in. He's an energetic pup who enjoys a good walk and plenty of playtime, and a securely fenced yard is required. Eddie is a talented escape artist who can dart through an open door in a flash, so careful management is important.Despite his rough start, Eddie is a very loving little dog who wants to cuddle, play, and be part of a family. He'll need an adopter who understands that building trust takes time and who is willing to help him continue gaining confidence at his own pace. The right patient, committed home will make all the difference for this special little guy!If you are interested in Eddie, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). 9. Agatha Christie
Young · Female · Pit Bull Terrier / Terrier / Mixed

Meet Agatha Christie, the adorable pocket pittie with a big personality and an even bigger love for cuddles! At almost 8 months old and 22 pounds, this sweet gray-and-white girl is short, stocky, and full of puppy charm. Her two favorite things are playing with her people and soaking up affection. If there's a lap available, Aggie is happy to claim it!Agatha loves toys, playing with other dogs, and getting attention from just about everyone. She's been wonderful with her foster family's 3- and 7-year-old granddaughters, enjoying cuddles and games of tug-of-war. She also gets along well with other dogs, although her wrestling style can be pretty enthusiastic! A canine companion who enjoys a good play session would be a bonus.
Read more about Agatha Christie
Cats are an unknown, although her foster family suspects she'd be curious and playful. At home, Agatha has a medium-low energy level, with a daily walk and some playtime keeping her happy. She's still working on leash manners and potty training, but she's making progress! She keeps her crate clean and dry overnight and settles in nicely once she's inside, although she may need a little encouragement at bedtime.Agatha has a few adorable quirks, too. If she's in her puppy pen and feels like she's missing out on something, she'll climb up and rest her front paws on top, peeking over the edge with the most pitiful, longing expression. And with her short legs, broad chest, and muscular build, her little crouching walk has been compared to something straight out of The Nightmare Before Christmas!Agatha is being treated for a skin infection that is clearing up nicely, and her small patches of missing fur are expected to grow back. She is scheduled to be spayed on November 7.This little pocket pittie is an absolute sweetheart who wants nothing more than to be part of the fun, stay close to her people, and receive all the cuddles she can get. If you're looking for a playful, affectionate pup with a whole lot of personality, Agatha Christie might just be your leading lady!If you are interested in Agatha, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. 13. Tatiana
Adult (2 years 6 months) · Female · Black Labrador Retriever (short coat)

Tatiana showed up as a stray on a rural Mower County property towards the end of October 2026, and she came to MCHS on 10/26/2026 after the finders held her for a few days. Efforts were made to see if anyone recognized her as the stray hold went on, and she was never owner claimed, so she became available for adoption. She looks to be a purebred black lab and we think she's 2 to 3 years old. She has the typical boisterous and exuberant personality of a lab. She will be vet checked and spayed on November 11th and her fee is $150.
Read more about Tatiana
Tatiana will need some basic training and regular exercise. She's a pretty strong gal. Labs are a lot of fun and can be pretty rambunctious until they reach a more mature age (like 5, 6, 7, etc...). Tatiana is fun loving and happy. We do think she'd do okay with a male dog of similar size and with older kids.
NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.
We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South.
We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.

14. Toby easy going lowrider
Adult (5 years) · Male · Basset Hound / Beagle / Mixed (short coat)

Watch Toby easy going lowrider's video
Toby is a basset/beagle mix. He is around 5yrs old. He had a rough start in life, coming from an abusive situation we were told. For this reason, he can be leery of men, will growl when first meeting them, but hasn't bitten anyone. He needs someone who understands his past and goes slow and doesn't push his limits/scare him. Would do best with older children if they are in home, so they too can understand his situation/past. He is settling into his foster home and got neutered and vetted. So far he has shown to love car rides, likes to let his long ears and jowls flap in the wind (: He has meet and played with other foster dogs, males/females that are medium to large in size and has been playful and respectful of them. He also meet some foster kittens and didn't know what to think of their craziness. When they hissed at him, he did howl at them and scare them, but he seems like he would get along just fine with cats once he learns some boundaries with them. He does pull on a leash, do best with harness, his hound nose leads the way. He loves, loves, loves treats! He has been doing well with male in the home, taking treats and getting butt scratches from his foster mom's husband. He really has been a great dog per his foster mom and when everyone met him at vet clinic they were just swooning over him and his cuteness!!!

15. Sprout
Puppy (1 month 23 days) · Female · Hound / Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Sprout (female) is 1 of 9 puppies born at the shelter on September 8th to mother dog Lenore, who appears to be a hound mix. We do not know the father's identity, but we're wondering if the puppies could be mixed with lab or golden retriever, just going by the appearances of some of them. We do expect these puppies to be fairly large dogs at maturity. Sprout will be ready for a new home around the middle of November, after she has had her 2nd of 3 distemper/parvo vaccinations. Her basic vet work will be scheduled with her adopter and must be done WITH one of our vet partners. This includes her 3rd distemper/parvo vaccination, and, when she is old enough, her rabies shot and spay surgery. All of this is covered by us under the adoption fee of $150.
Read more about Sprout
Puppies require a whole lot of time, patience, and training. They are looking for secure, committed homes, ready to keep them for the entirety of their lives. It's not always an easy journey. Sprout and her siblings should do well with other dogs, and they are all young enough to learn to interact appropriately with cats. Very young children might not be suitable as the pups develop manners and learn not to nip and chew. They need homes in which they won't be alone for long hours.

Hollyhock and her siblings should do well with other dogs, and they are all young enough to learn to interact appropriately with cats. Very young children might not be suitable as the pups develop manners and learn not to nip and chew. They need homes in which they won't be alone for long hours.

18. Acacia
Puppy (1 month 23 days) · Female · Hound / Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Acacia (female) is 1 of 9 puppies born at the shelter on September 8th to mother dog Lenore, who appears to be a hound mix. We do not know the father's identity, but we're wondering if the puppies could be mixed with lab or golden retriever, just going by the appearances of some of them. We do expect these puppies to be fairly large dogs at maturity. Acacia will be ready for a new home around the middle of November, after she has had her 2nd of 3 distemper/parvo vaccinations. Her basic vet work will be scheduled with her adopter and must be done WITH one of our vet partners. This includes her 3rd distemper/parvo vaccination, and, when she is old enough, her rabies shot and spay surgery. All of this is covered by us under the adoption fee of $150.

24. Lenore
Adult (2 years 6 months) · Female · Hound / Husky / Mixed (short coat)

Lenore came to the shelter on 8/14/2026 after being found loose in a rural area. We realized pretty quickly after her arrival that she was not alone, and she gave birth to 9 puppies on 9/8/2026. Once her mothering duties were completed and the pups were ready, they all quickly received numerous applications. Lenore is approximately 2 to 3 years old and appears to be a hound mix, possibly coonhound, foxhound, or maybe even beagle. She does have one blue eye so there could be some husky or Australian shepherd in there. She will be fully vetted, including her spay, on Nov. 13th and her fee is $150.
Read more about Lenore
Lenore is finally done being a mom and now this truly special dog is waiting to find a new family. She loves people and wants nothing more than to hang with them. She has done a great job wrangling and raising her 9 babies. She is well mannered and happy-go-lucky. She might need a bit of basic obedience training but does pretty well with leash walking. We do think she would be okay with a nice male dog. Kids should be fine, too. We don't know about cats.

25. Claudette
Adult (2 years) · Female · Pit Bull Terrier (short coat)

Claudette arrived at MCHS on 10/23/2026 from the city pound, and she has quite the story. Two weeks before she came to us, she was found tied to the fence next to the dumpster between our shelter and the city pound. As we expected, no one claimed her from the pound, so after her stray hold was completed, we took her in for her fresh start. She is a pit bull type dog who seems to be around 2 years old, if not a smidge younger. She has been vet checked, spayed, and microchipped, and her fee is $150.
Read more about Claudette
Claudette is a happy and active gal who will need a bit of basic training and regular exercise. She has a pretty delightful personality. We're thinking she would do fine with kids, but supervision is always necessary as she is strong and very bouncy. She potentially could do well with a respectful male dog, but she doesn't seem to be fan of other females, which is not unusual. No smaller animals would probably be best.

26. Franklin
Young · Male · Black Labrador Retriever

Meet Franklin! This handsome 1-year-old Lab mix weighs about 60 pounds and is a sweet, playful guy with lots of energy and an enthusiasm for life. Franklin loves toys, especially his Kong, tug-of-war, Benebones, and long-lasting chews. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and even puts himself to bed in his crate when he is ready to settle down!Franklin is a smart, active boy who needs an adopter committed to providing plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, structure, and consistent boundaries. He loves to run and is treadmill-trained. Nose-work games are another great way to help him use his brain and burn off energy.

Franklin is still working on impulse control and manners, so he will benefit from someone who can provide consistent guidance, routine, and positive reinforcement to help him become the best version of himself.Franklin loves having a canine companion! A confident, balanced, even-tempered resident dog would be a wonderful addition to his new home, as he enjoys having a playmate who can also help him learn to relax. He even prefers his crate to be next to his dog friend. However, a resident dog is preferred rather than required, and Franklin may do well as the only dog with the right support and structure. His compatibility with cats is unknown.Franklin's biggest challenge is being alone. He has separation anxiety and takes medication to help manage it. When left alone, he may bark incessantly, particularly if he does not have something appropriate to chew. He needs an adopter who understands separation anxiety and is prepared to continue working with him on it. A home without shared walls is required because of his barking when left alone.Franklin is a big, boisterous boy who can be a little too enthusiastic, so he needs a home with no children under 13. With the right match, consistent guidance, plenty of activity, and a canine buddy, Franklin has so much potential to grow into a wonderful companion. If you are looking for an active dog to join you on adventures and are ready to help him work through his challenges, Franklin may be your guy!If you are interested in Franklin, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450.

27. Delilah
Adult · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Terrier / Mixed

Meet Delilah, a gentle, easygoing girl whose idea of a perfect day involves belly rubs, cozy couch time, and being surrounded by people who love her! This 4-year-old German Shepherd mix weighs 70 pounds and has a heart as big as her love for snuggling. Delilah is a true couch potato who would much rather relax with her favorite humans than go on a long hike or run a marathon. She enjoys leisurely walks, especially when there is plenty of time to sniff and explore and is happy with a couple of short walks each day.Delilah is wonderful with children of all ages and is calm, patient, and gentle when little ones come by to pet her.
Read more about Delilah
She also gets along with other dogs, especially those who are laid-back and respectful of her space. She enjoys playful outings with canine friends but prefers not to roughhouse, and rowdy, reactive, or overly enthusiastic dogs can make her feel nervous. She has also lived with cats in foster homes and reportedly ignores them, making her a potential fit for a home with feline friends. At home, Delilah is quiet, house-trained, and wonderfully content to spend an evening lounging on the couch with her people. She loves belly rubs, affection, and kibble, and she’s recently started discovering the fun of toys! She’s still learning how to play and beginning to get the hang of it. She may not climb into your lap, but she will happily rest her head or a paw against you to stay close. Just be prepared to share the couch, because Delilah is perfectly capable of claiming the whole thing!Delilah does have some separation anxiety and takes medication to help manage it. She may get into a little mischief while you're away, such as relocating your shoes, but she does not need to be glued to your side. She simply likes knowing someone is home and can eventually settle down for a nap when left alone. She is not crate-trained and is uncomfortable with being crated, so her future family should be prepared to accommodate her without relying on a crate. And one more thing about this princess: Delilah is not a fan of wet paws! A little drizzle may earn you a very judgmental look as she wonders why anyone would expect her to venture outside in such conditions. She will happily wait for better weather if given the choice.Delilah would love a home where she can enjoy plenty of companionship, gentle affection, and a relaxed daily routine. A family with multiple people would be especially nice, and another calm, compatible dog could be a bonus, though she doesn't need a canine companion to be happy. If you're looking for a sweet, low-key friend who will happily trade adventure-filled days for cozy evenings and endless belly rubs, Delilah might just be your girl!If you are interested in Delilah, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. 28. Ralph
Adult (1 year 3 months) · Male · Shepherd / Cattle Dog / Mixed (short coat)

Ralph came to the shelter as an owner surrender on 10/22/2026. His owners had to move into a rental that did not allow pets. Ralph is a big boy who weighs around 70 pounds and only turned a year old in July. He has the coloring of a red heeler (cattle dog) but otherwise reminds us of shepherd breeds, like German or Anatolian. There are probably some other breeds in there, too. He is tentatively scheduled to be vet checked and neutered on November 13th, and his fee is $150.

Ralph is a very sensitive, loving dog. He needs a home that is able to provide him with the exercise he needs. He has had some basic training and is intelligent and ready for more. Ralph has done well with kids and has been okay with other dogs. He has never been around cats. He would be a great companion for someone who is active and looking for a true partner.

29. Spy
2 Years 11 Months · Male · Unknown breed

My foster family reports that I am very mindful, very demure. I love to play with toys but I am very gentle about it. I've learned very quickly how to ask how to go outside/inside and I am working on mastering stairs (reports are that I am a very fast learner and am picking up how to do stairs quickly). I am good in my kennel as well. Some of my favorite things are car rides, a fun romp in the yard, and laying blissfully in a sunbeam. I am respectful of the resident cats (they actually scare me a little bit) and I don't have a super high prey drive. I thoroughly enjoy a good walk and have even jogged a bit with my foster family, who reports I am excellent on leash (I do request plenty of sniff stops on my adventures). I think I "spy" my future family- could that be you?
30. Candi
Adult (3 years 10 months) · Female · Greyhound

Calling anyone with a sweet tooth! True to my name, my foster family reports that I am a very sweet girl who loves her naps (I take my retirement very seriously). Slippery floors still make me nervous, and I am still a little unsure about walks (but I am still learning the ropes). Long walks/hikes are probably not for me- I would prefer to spend my days inside snoozing on a comfy dog bed or in my kennel. In fact, I will do my business outside very quickly so I can get back into bed! I am excitedly cautious about meeting new people, but my foster family reports that overall I seem to do well with people, other dogs, and can be redirected away from cats/small animals. Do you need a little "Candi" in your life?

Adopting a dog in Rice County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
