1. Macy

2 Years · Female · Pit Bull Terrier · 20 mi from Milford

Hi! My name is Macy. I'm in the market for a new family, so I thought I would give you a rundown of what my daily schedule is. First, I like to take a quick 3 hour nap. Then, I take a quick 1 hour nap to recover from my previous nap. After that, I have a little snackie and then take ANOTHER nap .......just kidding, I hate naps! I love 3 things in life: food, exercise, and people! Sometimes I like people so much that I jump on them. My foster humans think it would be best if I went to a home with teenagers and above, at least until I can learn to contain my excitement! I am crate trained, housebroken and ready to go off onto my next adventure. Maybe that could be with you? If you're interested in being my new humans, please submit an application on our website!

2. Marley

Adult (5 years 7 months) · Female · Australian Shepherd / Golden Retriever / Mixed (medium coat) · 20 mi from Milford

Marley is a beautiful 5-year-old Golden Retriever/Australian Shepherd mix who is just the perfect size—not too big and not too small. She is housebroken, up to date on her vaccinations, and ready to find a family who will love her for exactly who she is. Marley is a special girl who needs a little time to feel comfortable around new people. She is wary of strangers and will bark when someone enters the home, so her ideal family will understand that she needs patience, consistency, and time to warm up. Once Marley bonds with her people, though, she is a loving and devoted companion. ❤️

Read more about Marley

Marley has lived with children most of her life and seems to absolutely love them. She would do best as the only pet in the home, with no other dogs or cats. Marley is a playful girl who LOVES her toys. One of her cutest talents is entertaining herself by tossing her toys around and playing catch all by herself! She rides wonderfully in the car and loves going for rides. And is not destructive when left home alone.

Because Marley can be vocal when strangers enter the home, an apartment would not be a good fit. She would do best in a home where her family can give her the space and time she needs to settle in and build trust. If you're looking for a loyal companion and are willing to let her come out of her shell at her own pace, Marley may be the girl you've been waiting for. ❤️

3. Archie

1 Year 11 Months · Male · Basset Hound / Rat Terrier / Mixed · 20 mi from Milford

Hello there! I know what you're thinking: you see my bowtie and think 'Wow, this dog is very important. He must have a very serious occupation.' And you would be right. As of today, I am no longer Archie the dog. I am now Archibald, Attorney at Paw. I specialize in representing other dogs when they are the victims of terrible crimes, like humans not sharing their snacks, or being forced to take a baths, or not getting pup cups regularly. I take my new job very seriously. I may be small at 28 pounds, but my sense of justice is mighty! Now onto my qualifications. Did I go to law school? No. Did I pass the bar exam? Also no.

Read more about Archie

Did I even go to obedience school? No again. But my foster pawrents say I'm smart and food motivated, so that's good enough I think. I'm good with adults and everyone loves me, so I'm sure I can use my charm and good looks to win anyone over - including judges and other lawyers. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with young kids, so I am looking for a courtroom that is adults and teenagers only! I also am good with other dogs, so I will relate well to my clients. I'm a young attorney at only 1 year old, but I am a very energetic pup and I feel like I can channel that energy into being the best lawyer ever! There's only one thing in the way of me being an attorney: I need somewhere to practice. My foster home said I could stay here until I found a new place, but I know I can't stay here forever. Maybe you have room in your heart and home for a dapper, energetic, ambitious little guy who loves bowties? 4. Shirley Temple

Puppy (4 months 28 days) · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier / American Staffordshire Terrier (short coat) · 23 mi from Milford

Meet Shirley Temple! This 5-month old incredibly social sweet treat came to us from local animal control after being found as a stray, and like everyone’s favorite mocktail, is sure to be a hit with her forever family!

Read more about Shirley Temple

Sweet Shirley is a star! Just a realllly good girl who has charmed every veterinary staff member she has encountered. They all say the same thing…”what a nice puppy!” Ms. Temple is an adorably pint-sized sweetheart. Her sweetness oozes from every cell of her being and she has been incredibly friendly with dogs, cats, and people in her foster home. This girl stands out and is a natural child entertainer with her bubbly personality and social nature. Our Shirley is not much for singing but will dance her way into your heart with her endearing quirks. If you dilly-dally outside, Shirley will sit down to patiently wait. Shirlz is happy to jump into the shower with her humans and loves to drink out of the bathtub faucet like a cat. A leaf dancing in the wind can mesmerize her for a good long while.

Her inky black coat is gorgeous (and matches everything!) and her wide and innocently bright eyes are meant for showing love. This kiddy cocktail would be the cherry on top for an active family looking for a great companion! Cheers!

Puppies are soooooo cute, and puppy breath is THE BEST! But puppies are a lot of work and take dedication, patience, love, training, and real commitment to turn them into amazing adults. And a reminder that while puppies are undeniably adorable, they also represent a long-term commitment. Medium sized dogs often live 12-16 years, and we’re looking for a family that’s excited to love, guide, and care for this puppy through every stage of life – from playful puppyhood to his senior years. A friendly reminder that our adoption requirements, including enrollment in an approved puppy training class prior to adoption, are posted on our website at: cropsandflopsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs/adoption-policies

Shirley Temple’s top 3 priorities:
1. A FUN family who is looking for a realllllllly good more mature and very social puppy!
2. A family willing to continue to work on house-training. Shirley has come SO FAR in her limited time with us and just needs some gentle consistency to cross the finish line!
3. A family who is looking for adventures for a young pup with energy to burn! This effervescent little lady loves to be part of the action.

5. Miss Foxy

Adult (2 years 11 months) · Female · Hound / American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 23 mi from Milford

Meet Miss Foxy! This 3-year old toffee-colored brindle beauty came to us from local animal control after being found as a stray, having recently had puppies. We are scratching our heads as to how this unapologetically awesome mama pup was wandering alone because she is freaking amazing! Mamas are known to be nurturers, and Miss Foxy is no exception. And while she was a perfect guest at animal control, she was starting to get antsy and was ready to leave kennel life behind.

Read more about Miss Foxy

Fast forward to now…we busted her out of the clink on Valentine’s Day, so she has been in our rescue at her foster home for months without a single inquiry and we can’t figure out why. She is uber dog-friendly (though says “no thanks” to cats), playful and communicative, incredibly loyal and loving, and gorgeous! Miss Foxy’s foster mom boards dogs in her home, so she has been exposed to dozens of canine friends, big and small in her time with us. She has been terrific with her frequently changing houseguests after a proper introduction, even sharing her toys and bones without incident. So, we can say with confidence…her dog friendliness is super solid! Foxy Brown is such a character, that even without another dog, can entertain herself for hours. She will throw her toys up in the air, then pounce on them. She loves to steal your seat if you get up to go to the bathroom. She lets you know when it is mealtime, or when she needs to go out, and has never had a single accident in the house. And she is THE BEST CO-PILOT we have ever met…patiently sitting and watching the world go by without even a peep. Seriously, you will constantly be checking to make sure she is still in the car.

Sweet Foxy was recently out on a walk, and her human had a medical event and collapsed. She woke up to Foxy standing over her with concern, even though there were bunnies and squirrels that were oh-so-interesting to her just moments before. She curls up like a cat by your head in bed and is a super affectionate dog who loves to be close. And Foxy is a foxy lady! She is absolutely stunning and pictures don’t do her justice! She has the softest amber eyes, and a velvety brindle coat that has undertones of caramel, toffee, and milk chocolate wrapped into one swirl of foxy goodness. With her lanky build, gangly legs, and unreal sense of smell, we assume this beauty is part hound. Plott hound? Treeing Tennesse Brindle? Your guess is as good as ours!

Foxy has been enjoying the safety and predictability of her foster home, and above all else, she loves to be part of the action. She loves, loves, loves raspberries and now is a constant pool of drool every time her human picks them. Though she will gladly accept blueberries, celery, or carrots, or, well, just about anything edible. She is quirky and goofy and fun-loving, and is eager to settle into her forever home, where she will make a welcome addition to a lucky adopter! Because of a lack of history, older or no kids would be best for this lovey dovey.

Miss Foxy’s top 3 priorities:
1. A family who wants a wonderful companion dog and is looking to add a valuable member of the family.
2. A family who is ready to show love and wants a pup to be part of their daily life, including car rides, walks, and sooo many snuggles.
3. A family ready to show Foxy that she will never be alone again!

6. BamBam

Senior (10 years 2 months) · Male · Bulldog · 23 mi from Milford

Yabba Dabba Doo…Meet Bam Bam! This 10-years young itty-bitty (yet beefy!) bulldog came to us from local animal control after being picked up as a stray and he could seriously be a prehistoric couch potato! We are in love! His #1 priority? He needs his next stop to be his last stop after being failed by humans time and time (and time and time and time and time) again. This amazing dog has had over 6 homes in the last 2 years through no fault of his own. We’ll repeat that…through no fault of his own. Yikes! A huge thank you to animal control for all the sleuthing with his microchip to find out as much as possible about this little bean. We are shaking our heads about the lack of responsibility and empathy in our society, but…onwards and upwards for this brave and resilient lovebug! We promised him…the best is yet to come and there is absolutely NO reason so many irresponsible humans should have given him away. He is spectacular!

Read more about BamBam

The name Bam Bam is ironic for such a little and docile guy. He is a petite bulldog at 40 lbs in a compact body. He takes the stairs one at a time (and allows for the executive service of being carried if he doesn’t feel like climbing). He is SOOOOO squishy with soft and floppy neck skin and a nub for a tail! And we love his tan freckles! He allows everything…baths, nail trims, ear cleanings, teeth brushings, cleaning his folds. He may have selective hearing due to his breed, but when he hears the treat jar open, he instantly drops into a “sit” with a pathetic look of expectation. This makes us think he had a loving owner most of his life and was part of a family as a valuable and loved member and that makes us happy. He loves a schedule, his naps, couch snuggles, and (obviously) treats! He is quiet and easy-going but is a total character! He tap dances for food and hot rods in the dirt every time he pees. And now he just needs a forever home and a Bedrock all his own. Have a resident Dino or Baby Puss at home? Bam Bam has been great with all creatures and is living with multiple cats and dogs in his foster home. Bam Bam is just looking for a Barney and Betty all his own. Someone to love him forever and ever after all he has been through. Due to his age and lack of history, older or no kids would be best for this amazing little Rubble.

Adopters will need to understand the breed and what owning a bulldog entails. The extreme features that make Bam Bam ridiculously handsome require some extra attention. Adorable wrinkles require some additional cleaning and care. That squishy and ginormous face can mean breathing difficulty with exercise or quickly overheating in the sun. And his stocky frame means he could sink like a bowling ball in water.
Bam Bam’s top 3 priorities:
1. A family will never give up on him! Seriously, 6+ homes in the last 2 years through no fault of his own is madness and he desperately needs his next stop to be his last stop!
2. A loving family who will give this sweet senior a soft place to land.
3. A family who is aware of the potential medical costs associated with bulldogs of any type and is willing to care for Bam Bam for all of his days.

14. Kemba

5 Years 9 Months · Female · Rottweiler / Mixed · 23 mi from Milford

Kemba was placed by the rescue in 2020. The adopters have requested our help in rehoming her.

Kemba really is a great dog with so much love to give. She's incredibly affectionate and loves being around people. Whether it's playing fetch, going for walks, or just curling up next to you on the couch, she's happiest when she's spending time with someone. One of the things we've always loved about her is how easily she adjusts to whatever we're doing. She can play ball for hours if you're up for it, but she's just as happy lounging on the couch all afternoon. She sleeps well at night, usually on the living room couch.

Read more about Kemba

She's always been great with kids, from little ones to teenagers, and gets along really well with other animals. She doesn't have any issues with resource guarding, but she definitely likes being the center of attention! If another animal is getting some love, she'll sometimes try to get your attention back on her.

Fall is in the air, and Felix is ready to be your ultimate pumpkin-spice sidekick! This handsome 3-year-old Rottie made the road trip up from Georgia and is fully prepared to leap into your pile of leaves (and your heart). His foster parent reports that he is a certified "good boy" and an absolute doll who just wants to cuddle. [1]

Felix is already fully house-trained and a total pro in his crate. Now, let’s talk about his true passion: snacks. Felix is insanely food-motivated. He will do absolutely anything for a treat—which means you can easily train him to do tricks, or just use biscuits to negotiate his help pulling you down the street (he's a strong boy who likes to work those leash muscles!).{C}

Friends and Family:

When it comes to other dogs, Felix is a total lady's man! He absolutely loves his canine girlfriends and prefers his four-legged companions to be female. He has also met some human kids and was wonderful and gentle with them. However, if your home includes a feline friend, Felix is going to have to pass. He thinks cats are a little too exciting, so a cat-free castle is a must.

Adopting a dog in Milford

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
