Good with cats: No

Good with children: No

Personality & Needs

Activity Preference: Needs a couple walks a day., Low maintenance overall but needs quality outside time., Other: Doesn’t need much inside activity but will want to play a couple times a day

IQ: Smart

Read more about Nala

Favorite things: Loves belly rubs and getting physical affection, big fan of treats, enjoys cuddling, thrilled to have a good squeaky toy, likes chew toys/edible chews, happy just to lie on the floor with her people around

Good at: Going for car rides, Cuddling, Playing, Other: She’s a quick learner and does well with training

Ideal home: No children, Quiet environment, A fenced yard, Other: Lots of love

Training needs: Socialization with people, Socialization with dogs, Leash training, Needs obedience training, Other: Training depends on what her family needs/wants. She’s good around the house, and can stay alone in a room quietly if strangers come over. Is often good meeting people, but not always. Knows basic commands but has room to grow. Learning to be around other dogs would be a reach goal for her.

Food being fed: She’s had a few different kibbles w/ fish as protein. Vet has recommended single-protein foods with fewer ingredients. She has not had any digestive issues switching between different fish-based kibble brands.

Bio

Nala is a sweet little dumpling full of love who was slated for euthanasia at Trenton Animal Shelter before she was rescued. Now that she’s taken some time to decompress from the shelter, she’s ready to find a furever home where she can feel safe and put a difficult past behind her. Nala can take some time to trust new people, but once she bonds she’s as affectionate and as loyal as they come. She loves attention, and will gladly let you know when she needs some TLC, whether that’s by rolling over for belly rubs the moment you enter the room or sticking her big head in your lap and staring at you with her soulful eyes until you give her some scratches.

Once she’s settled in, Nala is happy to live a calm, quiet life. She likes a little excitement in her day, whether that’s playing with squeaky toys, chewing on a good stick, going for short walks, jumping in the car with you, or some occasional zoomies in the yard. But for most of her day she’s content just to lie down by your feet and know that she’s safe.

Nala has made a lot of progress improving her manners, and needs a home where she can continue to work on improving these skills. Fortunately, she’s a quick learner, very food-motivated, eager to please, and she even takes her treats very gently! She already knows sit, lie down, stay, come, touch, and paw, and she’s capable of learning much more.

Nala has had a lot of homes in her three years, and that’s left her with some separation anxiety. Once she’s bonded, she’ll follow her people from room to room like it’s her job, keeping an eye on you to make sure you’re safe. Fortunately, she clocks out in the evenings and will happily run straight to her crate when it’s time for bed. She’s gotten much better at being alone during the days, and if people are coming over and she needs to be out of the way she can stay by herself in another room with only the occa

Ideal home: A fenced yard

Training needs: Socialization with people, Socialization with dogs, Needs obedience training, Leash training

Health

Health issues: None

Medications/supplements: None

Food being fed: Fromm

Baby Girl is a total lovebug. She wants to be where you are but can also hang out in her crate alone. This girl was in an overcrowded shelter for over two months. ABR stepped in on the last day before she was put down because the shelter was out of space. She was so skinny and starved for attention but all that has changed now. She is gaining weight and loving her new home life.

Baby Girl plays well with toys and likes to play ball in the yard. She has a medium to high prey drive so a fenced yard is a must (we can’t have her sprinting off after a squirrel ). She is house trained but will get into things if left unsupervised (you would too if you had been a bag of bones not knowing when or if your next meal was coming). Fortunately, she is also crate trained so keeping her safe when we aren’t home is easy.

She would be great as an only dog but could also go with a laid back male.

Unfortunately, no one came looking for this handsome little guy. But Shamrock isn’t letting that keep him down! He has officially moved on to Plan B: find himself a forever family who thinks he’s pretty darn awesome. Now, we should probably mention that Shamrock can be a tiny bit unsure when something new comes his way. But honestly? This kid is a BRAVE little explorer! Give him a minute to investigate, sniff around, and decide that whatever looked scary two seconds ago is actually pretty interesting. And people? He LOVES them. He wants to be where the action is, see what everyone is doing, and soak up all the attention he can get. At just 5 months old, Shamrock is right in the middle of one of the most important learning stages of his life. He should be busy discovering the world, learning puppy manners, experiencing new things, and figuring out how amazing life can be, not spending his puppyhood behind kennel bars. This boy has SO much potential. He just needs someone willing to be his teacher, cheerleader, adventure buddy, and forever person. Shamrock may not have had the best luck so far… but maybe his luck is about to change! Will you be the one to change it? (9/13/26 Hope)

17. Sinbad Low Fee In PA

Adult · Male · Rhodesian Ridgeback / Mountain Cur / Mixed (short coat) · 29 mi from High Bridge

Sinbad is a handsome, approximately 9-year-old mix of Rhodesian Ridgeback and Mountain Cur, weighing about 75 pounds
Sinbad has spent his entire life on a horse farm surrounded by animals and family. He has lived with horses, cats, chickens, and another dog with whom he gets along well. He’s comfortable around horses, although he does enjoy trying to chase the chickens and cats if given the opportunity.

Read more about Sinbad Low Fee In PA

Sinbad loves being outside. Playing fetch and Frisbee are some of his favorite activities, and he always enjoys going for walks. As he’s gotten older, he’s become even more affectionate. A true definition of a lap dog, he loves hard. He absolutely loves attention from his people and will happily roll onto his back for belly rubs and cuddles. He especially enjoys relaxing in bed with the adults in the house and simply being close to his family.

Sinbad has grown up with four children and, for many years, showed incredible patience as they played with him, hugged him, and climbed all over him. As he’s entered his senior years, however, he prefers a quieter lifestyle and has less tolerance for the constant activity that comes with a busy household of young children.

One thing that’s important to know about Sinbad is that he has always displayed some resource-guarding tendencies with high-value items like his balls, toys, and bones. Once he’s finished playing fetch and takes his ball to settle down, he prefers to be left alone with it. Because of this, he would do best with owners who understand canine body language and are willing to simply give him his space when he has something he considers valuable.

His present family has grown over the years, and with children now ages 2, 4, 9, and 11, his home has become much busier than it was when Sinbad was younger. While he still craves attention and affection, he no longer enjoys the constant hustle and bustle. Now, he deserves a quieter home where he can be the center of someone’s world again.

Sinbad would thrive in an adult-only home or one with older, dog-savvy children who understand and respect his boundaries. He would make a wonderful companion for a single person, couple, or retired family looking for a loyal, loving dog to share their days with. He has so much love to give and simply wants a peaceful home where he can enjoy walks, snuggles, belly rubs, and all the attention he deserves. (posted 4/5/26, RH)

Adopting a dog in High Bridge

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
