2. Archie

Young · Male · Terrier / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed · 17 mi from Raleigh

(DOB 10/14/2026) Archie is the little guy that is big on personality, spunk, and smiles! Always ready for a photo-op, Archie is a happy-go-lucky social butterfly who has never met a stranger. He’s full of energy, loves to play (especially with his favorite Lamb Chop toy!), and is happiest when he’s right alongside his people. He enjoys other dogs, follows his foster mom wherever she goes, and once he’s burned off his zoomies, he's all about couch snuggles and a well-deserved nap.Archie is already crate trained, walks nicely on a leash, and is mastering his house manners. He sleeps in his crate at night and stays there while his foster mom is away.

He may protest a little when it's crate time, but a cozy blanket and favorite toy help him settle quickly. He's a little chatty in the car, too and will let you know he's there the whole time. One thing worth knowing, Archie is quite the conversationalist, so apartment living probably isn't his style. Plus, he wants a yard with a fence to romp and run around in!Archie would love an active family ready for playtime, adventures, plenty of attention, and lots of affection. If you're looking for a cheerful little sidekick with a big smile, an even bigger personality, and plenty to say, Archie is ready to make himself right at home!As part of Archie’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. 3. Bandit

Young · Male · Cattle Dog / Mixed · 8 mi from Raleigh

Hi there, I'm Bandit! I’m a 1-year-old Cattle Dog mix on a mission to find my ultimate partner-in-crime. If your ideal day involves throwing a tennis ball, playing with a flirt pole, and giving out endless belly rubs, we are going to get along great!I am a high-energy guy who loves to stay busy. I’m already a pro at walking on a leash, I’ve mastered the "sit" command, and I’m currently working on expanding my trick vocabulary. I would do best with a family who understands I am a super smart guy who needs physical and mental stimulation. I'm fully house-trained and completely comfortable in my crate, so I promise to be a very good boy in the house.

Read more about Bandit

(Just make sure you keep me stocked up on hard chew bones—they're my favorite!).I do have a heart murmur, but honestly? It just means my love is extra special. It doesn't affect my energy or my love for life one bit. Here is my dream scenario: I want to be your one and only! I prefer to be the only pet in the house because I like my humans' attention focused entirely on me. I’m a little unsure about how I feel around tiny humans right now, so if you have kiddos, I'd love a home where they know how to give me a little space, read my body language, and practice respectful interactions while we build up our confidence together! Are you looking for a loyal, active, ball-obsessed best bud? Come meet me!

4. Charlie

Adult (7 years) · Male · Dachshund / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Raleigh

Charlie is a sweet little Dachshund mix who came from a breeder surrender, and he’s ready to discover just how wonderful life can be outside that world.

His idea of a perfect day? You, a cozy lap, and a good movie or book. He’s perfectly happy snuggling for hours, as long as he can be close to his favorite human. Honestly, personal space is not really his thing!

Read more about Charlie

Charlie is a quiet, well-mannered little gentleman. He’s non-destructive, sleeps peacefully all night in his crate (as long as it’s in the room with his people), and is an absolute star for grooming. Put his harness on the floor, and he’ll even step right into it like the polite little fellow he is!

He’s learning to explore the big world outside, but for now, he’d much rather keep his walks close to you. He gets along with other dogs with slow, proper introductions, and he has one very important weakness: CHEESE. The way to Charlie’s heart may very well be through the cheese drawer.

Charlie is looking for a loving home where he can be someone’s little shadow, cuddle buddy, and loyal companion. If you’ve been dreaming of a dog who will happily keep your lap warm and your heart full, Charlie might just be your perfect match!

5. Sammie

Adult (4 years) · Male · Dachshund / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (medium coat) · 20 mi from Raleigh

My story began in a place no dog should ever have to call home. I was one of more than 20 dogs rescued from a puppy mill in South Carolina, and when I arrived, I was in heartbreaking shape. The world is still a scary place for me. I’m learning that people can be kind, that gentle hands can bring comfort, and that life can be so much more than simply surviving. I may be shut down right now, but deep inside, there is a little dog who deserves to feel safe, loved, and cherished. Thanks to Pawfect Match, I finally have a chance to discover what it means to be a dog. My healing will take time, patience, and understanding, but dogs are remarkably resilient, and I’m proof that even the most wounded hearts can begin to heal.

6. Poodlie

Adult (5 years) · Female · Poodle (Miniature) / Poodle (Standard) / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Raleigh

Meet Poodlie.

She has lived through the horrors of a puppy mill, and now she is slowly, quietly discovering that the world can be a beautiful place after all.

Little by little, Poodlie is learning what it means to be a dog. She recently discovered one of life’s simple pleasures: sitting next to her human on the couch, watching TV. And she absolutely loves spending time outside, sitting beside her person, taking in the fresh air and quietly contemplating the world around her.

Poodlie isn’t asking for much. Just a safe place, a kind human, and the time she needs to figure out that life can be gentle.

She will need patience, understanding, and someone who celebrates the little victories. She may not be the dog who runs into your arms on day one, but watching her slowly come out of her shell will be a reward of its own.

7. Bruno

Young · Male · Chihuahua / Mixed · 17 mi from Raleigh

(DOB 10/09/2025) Bruno is smart, playful, energetic, and eager to please. He loves attention and happily soaks up pets. He’s already house and crate-trained, can live happily without a fenced yard, and could make a great condo/apartment companion. He’d love a person who works from home and has time for plenty of walks, adventures, and snuggle breaks. His leash manners are still a work in progress, though; he sometimes thinks the walk is a race and his human is just trying to keep up! With patience, practice, and routine, he can keep working toward becoming a more polite walking partner.Bruno has been fine around cats and has done well around a big dog, although he hasn’t had enough close dog interactions to know how he’ll do with every canine friend.

Read more about Bruno

He tends to prefer women, but patient men can win him over, too. He can be protective of his favorite human, so proper introductions and a family willing to help him feel secure are important. Young kids aren’t Bruno’s jam, so he’s looking for an adults only home where he can relax and be the center of his people’s world. He also has some strong feelings about his food and treats. He is of the mindset what’s his is his. So, his new family will need to manage thoughtfully and work on positive, reward-based guidance. With Bruno, you’ve got yourself a loyal, loving, four-legged shadow! He’s a professional snuggler, enthusiastic belly-rub enthusiast, lap dog extraordinaire, and full-time supervisor of whatever his favorite human happens to be doing. He’ll even let you know when it’s bedtime, then snooze quietly in his crate all night. Now that’s a furry family member with big love to share! Give this little, smiley guy a chance to choose you, and you just might discover that the best things really do come in small packages! As part of Bruno’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. 11. Stevie

Adult · Male · Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed · 8 mi from Raleigh

Meet Stevie! He may be a tiny 8-pound poodle mix, but he has a big personality and plenty of spunk! His limited vision doesn’t stop him from enjoying life. He loves being outside, exploring the yard, going for walks, and taking in all the interesting smells around him.Because Stevie is partially blind, he needs a little extra consideration when meeting people and moving through his surroundings. He can be startled if someone approaches him without warning, so simply talking to him as you come near lets him know you’re there and helps him feel safe. Slow introductions and a predictable routine are important as he gets to know his new surroundings and his people.Stevie is also quite the conversationalist! If the house gets too quiet for too long, you may hear him talking to you because he wants to know where his people are.

Read more about Stevie

He loves being near his humans and is happiest when he knows they’re close by. When you’re busy, though, Stevie is perfectly content to curl up for a nap in a sunny spot, beside you, in his cozy bed, or in his crate.Because of his partial blindness and his need for gentle, predictable interactions, Stevie would likely do best in a home without young children. Young children can move quickly and unpredictably, which may startle him and make it difficult for him to feel secure. The good news - Stevie is house trained and crate trained! Once he learns your routine and knows he can trust you, he settles into life beautifully. If you’re looking for a little dog with a big personality who will happily keep you company, Stevie just might be your guy.

12. Blossom

Puppy (3 months 13 days) · Female · Terrier / Dachshund / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Raleigh

These adorable, scruffy little babies were rescued by a Good Samaritan and brought into Pawfect Match.

They’re a little scared and timid right now, which is completely understandable for such tiny puppies who have had to grow up without the love and security they deserve.

Blossom is very nervous and scared with all of the transitions she has had recently. She will take patience, time, and someone with expereince who will slowly introduce her to new things and socialize her appropriately. As we see more of her personality shine we will update here!

Foster Update

Read more about Blossom

Blossom is slowly coming out of her shell. She is liking to play with toys and the other dogs in her foster home although she still doesn't willingly come to humans yet. She will need safe areas to roam (penned/gated) until she becomes comfortable enough with her adopter as she is a flight risk and can hide in small spaces. She will be held and snuggle for short spurts once picked up, and does fairly well in the car for short rides. She is doing well with potty pad training and has been outside in a penned in area to potty as well.

She does love to shred soft items like toys and shoe laces if left alone too long so a crate/safe space when left alone is also recommended. <3

(DOB 9/02/2021) This adorable little sweetheart may be a little shy when you first meet him, but give him a little time to get to know you and—watch out! His playful, silly, affectionate personality comes shining through. He is crazy about other dogs and desperately wants to play! A young, playful canine companion is a must for this boy—not only will he have a built-in best friend, but having another dog around will help boost his confidence. He’s great with kids, too, and once he knows his people, he loves being part of the family. This is one high-octane little guy! He needs a securely fenced yard where he can run, zoom, wrestle with his canine buddy, and burn off some of that puppy energy.

Read more about Milkshake

And when he’s not busy playing, he LOVES heading out for a walk with his human. Adventure? 15. Penny Lane

Adult · Female · Dachshund / Mixed · 8 mi from Raleigh

Meet Penny: Professional Cuddler, Side-Eye Specialist & Wheelchair Queen Penny is a 4-year-old Dachshund mix with a big personality packed into one adorable little body. Penny has IVDD and is paralyzed in her back legs, but please don’t tell her she’s supposed to let that slow her down - she certainly didn’t get the memo.Penny maneuvers around the house incredibly well on her own and has a wheelchair that she LOVES for walks and adventures. She also rides beautifully in the car, making her the perfect little copilot for someone who wants a sidekick to tag along. When Penny first meets someone, she can be a little nervous and needs a moment to decide whether you’re worthy of joining her inner circle.

Read more about Penny Lane

Fortunately, the application process is pretty quick. Once she warms up, Penny is an affectionate little Stage 5 Clinger who wants nothing more than to be close to her people. Couch? She’s there. Bed? Obviously. Going to another room for 30 seconds? Penny would like to know why she wasn’t consulted.Because Penny loves her humans so much, her ideal home would be one where someone is around fairly often. She tolerates a crate when necessary, but if Penny were writing this profile herself, she would like it formally documented that she does not recommend crates and feels there are much better places to spend her time - preferably wherever you are. Other dogs? Yes! Penny does well with other dogs when given slow, structured introductions that allow her to feel safe and comfortable. Cats? Also yes. Penny currently lives with a household cat and mostly ignores him. He believes he runs the house, and Penny has apparently decided it isn’t worth the paperwork to challenge him.Because of her paralysis, Penny does not have control over when she urinates or has a bowel movement. She needs her bladder expressed, but she is very easy to express, and she and her foster family have her routine down to a science. Once you learn her schedule and care routine, it simply becomes part of the day. What Penny needs may look a little different from the average dog, but what she wants is incredibly simple: Her people nearby A comfy place to snuggle Walks in her wheels Car rides and adventures Patience while she gets to know you Someone who will love her exactly as she isPenny doesn’t know that she’s a “special needs dog.” She knows that she can get where she wants to go, that her wheelchair means ADVENTURE, and that humans were clearly invented for cuddling. If you’ve been looking for a loyal little shadow with a whole lot of personality, Penny might just be your girl.

16. Dolly

Senior (7 years 11 months) · Female · Shih Tzu / Mixed (long coat) · 25 mi from Raleigh

Meet Dolly ❤️

Dolly is a tiny Shih-Tzu girl who has already been through far more than she ever should have. She came to Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue as a stray from Guilford County, flea-infested and missing much of her beautiful fur. Despite the neglect she endured, Dolly is still a sweet little girl who deserves nothing but love, patience, and kindness from here on out.

Read more about Dolly

Dolly is estimated to be about 8 years old. She is currently receiving the veterinary care she desperately needed when she arrived. One of our biggest concerns is that Dolly appears to be blind, so she will need a patient and understanding family who can help her feel safe and secure as she learns to navigate her new world.

But being blind doesn't mean Dolly doesn't have plenty of love to give. ❤️ She is a precious little soul who deserves to spend the rest of her life knowing what it feels like to be safe, cherished, and truly loved.

Because of her age and possible vision impairment, Dolly would do best in a quiet, calm home with someone who understands that senior and special-needs dogs may need a little extra time and patience. We are looking for someone who will see past her physical challenges and recognize the wonderful little dog underneath.

Dolly didn't choose to be neglected or abandoned. She didn't ask to arrive at rescue in poor condition. But she now has a chance at the happy ending she deserves.

Could you be Dolly's forever family? ❤️

Dolly is available for adoption through Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue. If you can't adopt but would like to help Dolly and the other medically needy senior dogs in our care, donations are always greatly appreciated.

Adoption applications: https://rainbowbridgerescue.org/applications/

Help support Dolly's medical care:

26. Gg

Adult (5 years 6 months) · Female · Poodle (Miniature) (short coat) · 20 mi from Raleigh

GG was rescued from a puppy mill, they've spent their life without the love and comfort every dog deserves.

GG has been through more than any dog ever should. Years of living confined with very little human interaction left her unsure of people and the world around her. It's remarkable to see how far she has some, but with this girl, patience is key. She will be worth it!

GG will need a patient, understanding family willing to let her move at her own pace. Building trust with her will take time, but every small step is a huge.

Read more about Gg

She truly blossoms around other dogs, who give her confidence and help show her that people can be trusted. For that reason, she would do best in a home with a confident canine companion. We also believe she will thrive in a quiet, adults-only home where she can continue to gain confidence without added stress.

27. Elvis

Senior (8 years) · Male · Chihuahua (short coat) · 25 mi from Raleigh

Meet Elvis… a tiny senior with a big personality who needs your help ❤️

Everyone, say hello to Elvis — an adorable little 11-year-old Chihuahua who has recently come into the care of Rainbow Bridge Hospice Rescue. While he may be tiny, this little guy has been through a lot and is counting on us to help him get the care he deserves.

Elvis is looking for a special home that understands his needs. He does not do well with children, but he does enjoy the company of small dogs after a proper introduction. Like many senior dogs we take in, Elvis has some medical needs that we now have to address.

Read more about Elvis

Our sweet boy is up to date with his shots and neutered, and he is also dealing with a luxating patella, a condition affecting his knee that can cause discomfort and mobility issues. He also recently had a dental. As always, we are committed to making sure Elvis gets the veterinary care he needs so he can have comfort, stability, and hopefully find the perfect forever home.

He is available for adoption, and the adoption fee is $300; we do not transport dogs. Must be located in the Raleigh and surrounding area.

28. Mr Pepper

Senior (10 years 1 month) · Male · Terrier / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 20 mi from Raleigh

Meet Mr. Pepper — a scruffy little gentleman with a big personality and an even bigger heart.

At 10 years young, Mr. Pepper still has plenty of adventures ahead of him. He's the definition of "small but mighty": smart, confident, and always ready to keep an eye on what’s happening around him. While he may be entering his senior years, don't tell him that—he's still got plenty of pep in his step.

Read more about Mr Pepper

Mr. Pepper gets along wonderfully with other dogs and does well with respectful children who understand that every distinguished gentleman appreciates a little personal space. He's incredibly intelligent, quick to learn, and happiest when he's spending time with his favorite humans.

His dislikes are simple: vacuums. In Mr. Pepper's opinion, they are loud, suspicious, and entirely unnecessary.

If you're looking for a loyal companion, a cozy couch buddy, and a tiny best friend with a wise old soul, Mr. Pepper may be your perfect match. He has so much love left to give and is ready to spend his golden years making someone's life brighter.

Small dogs suit apartments and smaller homes, are easy to take along, and many live well into their teens.

They still need daily walks, play and training. Small dogs can be fragile, so ask the rescue how they are with young children, who can easily drop or step on them.
