1. Hank
Adult · Male · Hound / Mixed (short coat)

For all you hound lovers out there, Hank the hound has finished his heartworm treatment and is ready to find his forever home. Even for a hound lover, 1½-year-old, 45-pound Hank is special. He has the big, liquid, brown hound eyes, those long silky hound ears and, of course, the ever curious and adorable hound nose. But he is also so much more. Hank is housetrained, gentle and very affectionate, gets along with other dogs, cats, children of all ages and is easy on the leash, although he does get excited if he sees a deer, a skunk, another dog etc. He is not a barker unless the Amazon delivery person stops by to deliver a package.

As a young dog, he is surprisingly mellow and calm. Hank just loves to be around people, so if you want a loyal and adoring companion, and if you love hounds, Hank is the dog for you! After all, who can resist that face?

2. Oakley
Adult (2 years 5 months) · Female · Yellow Labrador Retriever / Golden Retriever / Mixed (medium coat)

This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions.
Read more about Oakley
Oakley is a soft-hearted girl whose happy tail and sweet smile are worth taking the time to earn. She may be a little shy when meeting someone new, but once she begins to feel safe, her affectionate personality starts to shine. Before long, you may find her happily wagging her tail just because you're sitting nearby and giving her a little attention. This lovely 2.5-year-old Lab mix weighs 46 pounds and has a moderate energy level. She enjoys leisurely walks, tasty treats, and one of her favorite pastimes, snuggling on the couch with her person. Oakley is housetrained, does well in her crate, and walks nicely on leash, making her an easy companion for daily routines. Oakley has done well with the other dogs and cat in her foster home. She has also been around chickens and a horse, which she simply ignores. New people and unfamiliar situations can make her timid and a little jumpy, so she will appreciate a calm, patient family that gives her time to settle in and build trust. She is still getting comfortable in her foster home, and there is likely even more of her sweet personality waiting to emerge. Oakley would love a quieter home where she can form a close bond with her people, enjoy daily walks and activities, and then curl up beside them for a relaxing evening. If you believe the best friendships are built with a little patience and a lot of love, Oakley may be the girl you've been waiting for. 3. Bree
Young (10 months) · Female · Dachshund / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions.
Read more about Bree
Bree wiggles her entire body the moment she sees her person, long ears bouncing up and down, and it is impossible not to smile. This 10-month-old Dachshund mix weighs 22 pounds and has the playful energy of a puppy. She loves squeaky toys, investigating new surroundings, and showering her favorite people with kisses on faces, ears, hands, and toes. When playtime winds down, there is nothing she likes better than curling up in a lap to watch TV, happy just to be near you. Bree is fully housetrained with no accidents so far, as long as she gets regular potty breaks in the morning, afternoon, and at bedtime. She is crate trained too, lying quietly inside, and she enjoys traveling in her crate and riding in the car. She does not know any commands yet, so she is a blank slate ready to learn. On walks she can go a good distance, stopping often to sniff everything along the way.
The big world outside can feel a little overwhelming to Bree. New noises, cars, people, and dogs make her nervous at first, and she may bark a little or try to keep her distance. The more she meets them, the braver she gets, and with time she warms up and her sweet personality shines through. She is a homebody at heart and perfectly content spending quiet time with her person.
Bree would be happiest with a family who will help her build confidence one new experience at a time, and who will enjoy having a loyal little lap buddy in return. With the right support, she is going to blossom into a wonderful, devoted companion. If you have the patience and heart to help a sweet girl find her courage, Bree would love to meet you. 4. Buddy II
Adult (2 years 4 months) · Male · Pointer / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat)

Buddy II is a courtesy listing, not in the AARF foster program, and we are posting online to help the owner find a home for them. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply.
Read more about Buddy II
Buddy is a big, goofy sweetheart who will chase a ball all day long and then happily offer you his whole heart. This two and a half year old Lab/Pointer mix weighs about 52 pounds and has a pair of adorable brown eyes that make it hard to resist. He is happy, enthusiastic, and full of energy, and once he bonds with his person, he is a total love who wants to play, cuddle, and be best friends. He might even enjoy agility or flyball, since he could chase a ball from sunrise to sunset. He is learning fetch and give, and he already knows sit and shake. Working on "no jump" is in progress, and he is eager to learn with treats in hand.
Buddy is housetrained and can go several hours between potty breaks. He seems to have been crate trained at some point, and he stays calm in his crate at home and in the car. He walks nicely on a leash around the yard. His previous owner spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital, so Buddy spent many hours at home on his own and got used to relaxing on the furniture. He will need a little patience if the new family has different house rules.
Buddy gets nervous around other dogs and would be happiest as the only pet. He has lots of enthusiasm for new people and is a big boy, so he would do best with teens, older kids, or active adults who can handle his exuberant greetings. Sadly, Buddy was a much-loved pet whose owner recently passed away.
If you have the heart to help this goofball with a loving home, Buddy would love to meet you. Reach out to A.A.R.F. by text at 931-260-8018 or visit https://www.aarf-tn.com to start the application process.

5. Jewel
Adult (5 years 9 months) · Female · Siberian Husky / Australian Shepherd / Mixed (long coat)

Jewel is a courtesy listing, not in the AARF foster program, and we are posting online to help the owner find a home for her. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply.
Read more about Jewel
Jewel treats every day like an adventure and every car ride like the best news she has heard all week. This happy, high-energy 5.5-year-old, 60 lb Australian Shepherd and Husky mix has a big personality and an even bigger love for life. She is happiest outdoors, running, exploring, and being part of whatever her people are doing, whether that means a ride in the car, a spot in the truck bed, or a trip to the park. She also has a sweet, snuggly side, and nothing makes her happier than climbing up for cuddles after a good play session.
Jewel is a smart girl who learns quickly. She knows sit, wait, belly (rolling over for belly rubs), turn, and a few fun tricks like orbit and around, and she is eager to work for her favorite peanut butter training treats. She is housetrained and has her own room where she settles in nicely. She is enthusiastic on the leash because it usually means an adventure is coming.
Jewel has a high play drive and a very enthusiastic style, so she does best with people who understand her energy and can offer structure and supervision. She has done well with larger dogs and with older kids around ten and up who know how to interact with an excited dog. Her ideal home is one without small children or small animals, where her playful spirit can shine and everyone feels comfortable. Her family has a new baby and she is just not fitting in with the new addition. The right home for Jewel is active and adventurous, with someone who enjoys training, exercise, and including her in everything. With consistency and plenty of love, she has so much potential to be an amazing companion.
If you are ready for a loyal, joyful girl who wants to be wherever you are, Jewel would love to meet you. Reach out to A.A.R.F. by text at 931-260-8018 or visit https://www.aarf-tn.com to start the application process.

6. Lady
Adult · Female · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

See Courtesy Posting Disclaimer *
Hi, my name is Lady. I am a 3-year-old black Lab. I am in foster in Knoxville, Tennessee, from Texoma Dog Ranch Rescue in Texas. I was stressed out at the Dog Ranch being in kennels all the time and around a lot of loud dogs, so I was lucky enough to find a foster. I am a really sweet and smart girl.
I weigh 54 pounds, and I have been spayed and fully vetted, and even have a health certificate. I will come with 3 months heartworm preventative and 3 months flea and tick control. I know some basic commands, and I am house-trained and crate-trained. And I do not get on the furniture.
Read more about Lady
I do have a little bit of a fear of men but it doesn't take me long with some understanding to start to feel comfortable. I have been in my foster home for a little over a week, and I have really started coming out of my shell... oh, and by the way, I am dog-friendly, as my foster has two little dachshunds.
I would do well in just about any home, but preferably without younger kids, as I am quite large and might accidentally bump into one. I would absolutely love a home that was active and could take me on lots of walks and hikes, as I do really good on a leash and do not pull. I really hope I can find my forever home! If somebody will just give me a chance and let me get comfortable and get over my fears, I will do great. I promise I am a kind, gentle soul and will love you forever.
I would also love a fenced in yard to play in and run Zoomies. My foster has a privacy fence which is perfect, but I think as long as your fence is 5 feet or higher I will do fine and not try to escape, I promise. Is there anyone out there that will give me a chance? I was rescued from a shelter a day before I was supposed to be euthanized due to space, so I know I have a purpose for someone out there. For more information on me please email texomadogcoordinator@gmail.com. Also applications can be found at www.texomadogrescue.com
Thank you! [Posted 10/14/2026]

7. Gidget
Adult (1 year) · Female · Chihuahua / Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions.
Read more about Gidget
Gidget is a gentle little sweetheart who is learning that the world can be a wonderful place and that people can be trusted. With her long legs, soft, upright ears, and delicate features, she looks a bit like a tiny fox or baby doe. She may not rush into your arms just yet, but when she chooses to sit beside you or rest her head in your lap, it feels like a special gift. At about 14 months old and 16 pounds, Gidget is a Chihuahua / Terrier mix with a moderate energy level. She enjoys peaceful walks, a little playtime indoors, and finding a sunny spot to soak up some warmth. She also likes her Kong, puzzle toys, and tossing a tennis ball around. She is food motivated and clever, making her a fun little student for a family ready to help her learn. Gidget does well with a consistent potty schedule and has been trusted to roam the house without chewing or making a mess. Her crate is her cozy retreat, and she often chooses to go there on her own. She walks nicely on leash and frequently looks to her person for guidance. New experiences can make her nervous, especially large dogs and some men, so she will need patient introductions and a calm approach. When frightened, she may try to pull away, making secure equipment and a fenced yard or leashed outings especially important. Gidget currently lives happily with the resident cat. She would likely be best in a quieter home with people who enjoy daily walks and understand that building trust takes time. She has so much potential, and the family who gives her patience and encouragement will get to watch her confidence blossom. If you have a peaceful home and a little extra love to help Gidget discover how wonderful life can be, reach out to A.A.R.F. by text at 931-260-8018 or visit https://www.aarf-tn.com to start the application process.

8. Cammie
Senior (16 years) · Male · Schnauzer / Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed

CAMMIE is a courtesy listing, not in the AARF foster program, and we are posting online to help the owner find a home for them. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply.
Cammie is a devoted little companion with a heart full of love and a serious talent for snuggling. At 16 years old and about 14.5 pounds, this sweet boy has an easygoing personality and is happy to spend much of the day relaxing, but he can still be ready for a little play when the mood strikes.
Read more about Cammie
Cammie loves being close to his person and will happily follow you around to make sure he knows what you're up to. His tiny cropped tail wiggles at impressive speed when he's happy, and he loves curling up under your arm or nestling against your neck. Toss him a toy and he may bring it right back for a little game of tug.
Cammie has learned an impressive collection of hand signals, including sit, down, back and heel, and understands that raised hands mean the treats are gone. He is mostly housetrained, although he may occasionally have an accident if left too long. He is also a quiet companion who generally only barks when he hears something he knows is unusual. He loves car rides and prefers riding in the back seat.
Cammie is a people lover who has done well around dogs, cats, farm animals and children who are gentle with him. He is a little hard of hearing, but a clap or other visual cue gets his attention. At his age, he does have some medical needs, including dental care that should be discussed with his veterinarian.
Cammie would love a calm home with people who appreciate the joys of an older dog and want a loyal little shadow by their side. If this affectionate senior sounds like your kind of companion, contact A.A.R.F. at 931-260-8018 to learn more about Cammie and arrange a meeting.

9. Gunner
Young (8 months) · Male · Mountain Cur / Mixed (short coat)

This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions.
Read more about Gunner
Gunner believes with his whole heart that the best place in the world is wherever you happen to be. This gentle Mountain Cur mix is about 7.5 months old and weighs 45 pounds, carrying a low-medium energy level with a big, loving heart. He lives for being petted and loved on, and honestly, that would be his whole world if he could get it. He enjoys playing with his foster puppy sibling and lazily chasing a ball, and he is still a little uncoordinated during fetch, which only adds to his charm. He is quiet by nature and sleeps soundly through the night. Gunner is fully housetrained with no accidents in his foster home, and he did well riding in a crate in the car. He is learning to sit for meals and is working on putting his feet up on a retaining wall to get pets instead of jumping, since his enthusiasm for affection sometimes gets the better of him. He is also making great progress on leash walking, and is now confidently walking around the fields near his foster home.
He does well with other dogs and has shown curiosity toward the goats, though his intentions there are still a bit of a mystery. Gunner is not a good fit around chickens as he has shown stalking behavior toward them. Gunner would thrive in a home where he gets to be involved in everyday family life and stay close to his people, he truly is a velcro dog at heart. A fenced yard is strongly recommended to keep him safe and happy. If you are looking for an affectionate, gentle dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Gunner would love to meet you. Adult · Male · Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Bart and Spot are brother and sister, just under a year old as of late August, 2026. They were rescued from the road and have been fully vaccinated, had Bravecta in late June, and are on Interceptor Plus for heartworm prevention. They have been spayed and neutered as well.
They are medium-sized, possible Lab mixes, but smaller, and are at their full adult size at about 30 pounds each. They are mostly housetrained, but still have occasional accidents, mainly because they don't get taken out often enough.
Bart and Spot have a wonderful, sweet disposition with me and love human contact.
Read more about Bart
They love each other and play well, but they can be adopted separately. I have not personally tested them with toddlers or cats, but they should be fine with other friendly dogs.
They have had someconflict with the older dog in the home, but it began because of one of them, being the puppies that they are, tried to steal his chew, and subsequent separation from him has created more tensions. Until that point they had all gotten along for a couple of weeks with no issues.
These sweet young dogs very much need to find forever homes soon and will be loving companions for one or more lucky families. Please text or email 865-803-8164 / terryross369@att.net. Calls are screened, so be sure to text first. [Posted 9/3/2026]

BUDDY is a courtesy listing, not in the AARF foster program, and we are posting online to help the owner find a home for them. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply.
Read more about Buddy
Introducing Buddy! Buddy is around 1 yr old and weighs around 60lbs. He is the kind of dog who will remind you every day that love comes first. Still young at heart, Buddy is a smart, active shepherd, collie, and hound mix who loves having a job to do. Whether he's keeping an eye on the yard, exploring a trail, or riding along in the truck, he's happiest when he's with his people. Before he's ready for a meal, he's looking for a few pets and some attention from his favorite people, and that sweet habit says so much about who he is. He already knows "sit," walks nicely on a leash, and appears to be housetrained. He has also done well with the senior dog in his current home and has formed a deep bond with the family who rescued him. Buddy has plenty of energy and would love a home where he can run, play, and continue learning through positive training. A fenced yard or a home with room to explore would suit him well, and he seems like a great match for someone who enjoys hiking or country living. He has shown a strong instinct to chase cats and passing motorcycles, so a home without cats and with a secure place to play would help him succeed. Storms can be scary for him, and he appreciates reassurance when the weather turns rough. After being found as a stray, Buddy has blossomed into a loyal, affectionate companion with a goofy side that keeps everyone smiling. He's ready to trade his temporary porch for a forever one where he can be part of the family, inside the home and close to the people he loves. Buddy is neutered, up to date on vaccines and has been treated for fleas. Contact us for more information on adopting Buddy.

13. Harley
Adult · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Harley needs a fresh start. ❤️
This isn't because Harley isn't a good dog. It's because life changed.
Her family no longer has a yard, and the stress of sharing space with a senior dog battling cancer has become too much for everyone. Harley deserves a home where she can simply be Harley.
She's a 4-year-old, spayed Pit Bull who absolutely adores people—especially kids. She's the kind of dog who wants to be touching you at all times, whether she's snuggled under a blanket on the couch or giving her goofy little "love nibbles" while she's covering you in kisses.
Harley is potty trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and is up to date on vaccines.
Read more about Harley
She does have allergies that are well managed with Cytopoint injections and a lamb-based diet. She loves healthy treats, tennis balls (for as long as they survive ), and she firmly believes rain is optional.
Harley needs to be the only pet. She has so much love to give—she just wants a family she doesn't have to share.
If you can offer Harley the home she deserves, or would like more information, please send us a message. And as always, sharing this post could be what helps her find her person.
Email charice.johnson@gmail.com or call/text 865-315-2989 if you can help Harley start her new life. [Posted 7/16/2026]

Brandy is a wonderful pup at 40lbs, Mountain Cur mix, at about 5-6 years old. She has a sweet, affectionate nature and a calm, laid-back personality that makes her an easy companion to have around. She loves people of all ages, including children, and enjoys being part of the family. She has done well with other dogs overall, but because she can be protective of food and treats around them, she would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home. That way, she can relax, feel secure, and soak up all the love and attention she deserves. This sweet girl would make an amazing companion for someone looking to give an adult dog another chance. 15. Trixie
Senior · Female · Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Trixie says Hi! Trixie is always happy to meet someone new, greeting everyone with a hearty tail wag. She is an approximately 10-year-old All-American mix. We don't really know, and she's not telling, but we do know she weighs around 27 pounds and is a great dog in the house with impeccable house manners. She is fully housetrained, doesn't bother a thing in the house, and is a very, very easy keeper. Trixie would do best in a low-key home where she can snooze in the sun and maybe go for a short walk. She will be your little shadow, as she will want to be in the same room with you most of the time.
Read more about Trixie
Trixie has learned a lot of new things since coming into rescue, such as a doggie door, walking well on a leash, learning to share with her foster siblings. Trixie is an all-around really nice girl who will make someone a great companion. She has a lot of love to give and would love to find her special person. If Trixie sounds like the gal for you, please see the adoption page and fill out an application.

Adopting a dog in Cumberland County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
