All we need is someone willing to open their heart and home to this deserving girl, provide the TLC she needs, and give her a safe, loving place to recover.Meatball has spent enough of her short life being let down. We want the rest of her story to be filled with full bellies, soft beds, endless love, and a family who will never give up on her. She’s only a year old. She has her whole life ahead of her, and we desperately want that life to be a good one. ❤️We also want to take a moment to remind everyone just how important community support is. It is because of YOUR donations and continued support that we are able to pull dogs like Meatball who have medical needs that many already overwhelmed facilities simply don’t have the resources to take on. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us give animals like her a chance they might not have had otherwise. We truly could not do what we do without you, and Meatball is a perfect example of the lives your generosity helps us save. ❤️Puppies 6 months and under are typically $200 and dogs from 7 months to 6 years are typically $100.00. 10. Belle
Puppy · Female · Staffordshire Bull Terrier (short coat) · 5 mi from Knoxville

Hi, I'm Belle! I was born on May 25th, one of six puppies in my litter. I don't remember much from those early days, except that nobody was really watching out for us. My brothers and sisters and I kept wandering into the road — it was scary, and dangerous, and we didn't know any better. Some kind neighborhood kids started keeping an eye on us, making sure we stayed safe. And then one day, a neighbor with a good heart took all of us in. I don't know where I'd be without that kindness. Now let me tell you who I am, because I think I'm pretty special, in my own little way. Not only am I a pretty little girl with speckles on my feet and chest, I'm a watcher.
Read more about Belle
I like to sit somewhere with a good view and take it all in — the birds, the wind in the grass, whatever's happening down the street. Nothing gets past me. I have a feeling I'd make a wonderful watchdog someday, keeping a careful eye over the people and things I love most. But don't let my quiet, watchful side fool you — the second there's a chance to play, I am pure joy on four legs. Playful, outgoing, sweet all the way through.I adore my toys more than almost anything. Give me something to carry around, chew on, or toss in the air, and I am the happiest girl alive. And when playtime's over? I want nothing more than to curl up close and soak in all the attention and cuddles you'll give me. I love deeply, and I love easily, and I've got so much of it saved up just waiting for the right person. My dream — my whole dream — is a home with a fenced-in yard where I can watch over my little corner of the world, play until I'm worn out, and then collapse into someone's lap for all the love and attention I could ever want.I don't want to wait much longer for that dream to come true. I've already watched some of my brothers and sisters find their families, and every time, my heart gets a little more hopeful and a little more impatient. Please — if you have room for a watchful, playful, endlessly loving girl like me, I need you to find me soon.I promise I'll be worth the wait, and worth every bit of the love you give me.Love,Belle Fenced in yard is required.***When puppies and kittens are adopted before being fixed, they MUST be adopted in East Tennessee. If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format.Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home pets are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative.

11. Buddy
Young · Male · Staffordshire Bull Terrier (short coat) · 5 mi from Knoxville

URGENT: Buddy Needs a Foster Home RIGHT NOW
URGENT: Buddy Needs a Foster Home RIGHT NOW or Forever Home
Hi. I'm Buddy.
I have something to tell you, and I need you to really hear it, because my story has a brand-new chapter.
But first, let me tell you how it started. I did something unforgivable. Something so bad that the people who were supposed to love me forever decided I wasn't worth keeping anymore.
I grew up.
That's it. That was my crime. I was born back in early 2023 and adopted as a wide-eyed puppy who thought he'd finally found his people, his forever family. And for a while, I believed it.
Read more about Buddy
But puppies don't stay puppies, and somewhere along the way, I stopped being cute and convenient and started being... unwanted.
I want you to know the truth, because I think somebody should. My nails grew long because nobody took me anywhere to have them trimmed. My meals weren't good ones, or regular ones. Most of my life happened inside a crate, a crate that didn't even have a bottom to it. I didn't do anything to deserve that. No dog does. I promise you, with everything in me, that I did nothing wrong except get a little bigger and a little older.
But guess what? Somebody finally showed up for me.
For the first time in a long time, I've got someone in my corner. I'm out of that crate and away from the home that forgot about me. And then, oh, then came the best part. I got the full spa treatment: brushed, bathed, and beautified from nose to tail. I'm not trying to brag, but... man, am I handsome! Wait until you see me. I hold my head a little higher now.
And here's the thing: through all of it, I never stopped being me. I'm still the sweetest, most loving boy you'll ever meet. I love everyone I meet. I've got an eternal good nature in me, the kind that doesn't quit no matter what. Even on the hard days, I was a happy boy. Now that life is getting better, just imagine how much happiness I've got to give.
Here's what I still dream about: a yard with a fence, just so I can run, really run, the way dogs are supposed to. Somebody to scratch behind my ears and mean it. A soft place to sleep that's all mine. Attention. Cuddles. A home where I'm allowed to just be a good dog, because that's all I've ever tried to be.I've waited my whole life for my turn. I think it's finally my time to shine.
Will you be my forever family? Will you show me what real love looks like, for keeps this time? Because I promise you: the second you do, I'll show you right back, without hesitation, without holding anything back. That's just who I am.I'm ready. Are you?
Love,Buddy
I've started being brought up on my vetting.

18. Harley
Young · Female · Staffordshire Bull Terrier (short coat) · 5 mi from Knoxville

Hi, I'm Harley.
I'm 4 years old, and I never thought I'd be the one looking for a new family. But here I am, and I'm hoping you'll take a moment to get to know me.
Just a little while ago, my whole world was two acres to run and play on. I had space to be a dog — to explore, to zoom around, to just be free. But things changed. My family had to move into a two-bedroom apartment, and suddenly there was no more room to run. It was hard on all of us, especially my best friend, who's older now and doesn't have the patience he used to. I understand. He deserves peace and quiet in his golden years, and I deserve a home where I can be my playful self without stressing him out.
Read more about Harley
It's nobody's fault. It's just what happens when a young pup and an old soul try to share a space that's become too small..
I've been loved since I was a tiny puppy — I know how to be someone's whole heart, because I already was. I LOVE people, especially kids. I'm a total cuddler and a snuggler. I love to sleep with my people. I walk nicely on a leash, I light up for car rides, and there's nothing I love more than a good hike with someone by my side.
A fenced in yard where I could run and play, even just a little bit, I would be the happiest girl in the world.! I think what I want most, more than anything, is just to belong somewhere again — somewhere I can run and play without anyone getting tired of me. I would be thrilled to be your one and only so that I can hog all of your attention.
I should be honest about everything, because I want my next family to really know me. My skin can be sensitive — grass, bugs, the changing seasons, all of it can set me off, and I can't have chicken. I've found that lamb-based food helps me feel my best, and right now I eat Pure Balance Lamb, Pea & Rice. I get a Cytopoint allergy shot every 4 to 8 weeks. Every once in a while, my skin or ears might flare up.
I'm spayed and fully up to date on my shots. I want to be somebody's whole world again. I know I can be given a chance.
I'm not asking for two acres. I'm just asking for a family who wants me the way I want them — completely, and with my whole heart. I don't have much time. If you can help, please reach out today. If that could be you, please reach out. I'd love the chance to show you how much love I have to give.
If that could be you, please reach out. I'd love the chance to show you how much love I have to give.
Love,Harley

19. Harley
Adult · Female · American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 19 mi from Knoxville

See Courtesy Posting Disclaimer *
Harley needs a fresh start. ❤️
This isn't because Harley isn't a good dog. It's because life changed.
Her family no longer has a yard, and the stress of sharing space with a senior dog battling cancer has become too much for everyone. Harley deserves a home where she can simply be Harley.
She's a 4-year-old, spayed Pit Bull who absolutely adores people—especially kids. She's the kind of dog who wants to be touching you at all times, whether she's snuggled under a blanket on the couch or giving her goofy little "love nibbles" while she's covering you in kisses.
Harley is potty trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash, and is up to date on vaccines.
Read more about Harley
She does have allergies that are well managed with Cytopoint injections and a lamb-based diet. She loves healthy treats, tennis balls (for as long as they survive ), and she firmly believes rain is optional.
Harley needs to be the only pet. She has so much love to give—she just wants a family she doesn't have to share.
If you can offer Harley the home she deserves, or would like more information, please send us a message. And as always, sharing this post could be what helps her find her person.
Email charice.johnson@gmail.com or call/text 865-315-2989 if you can help Harley start her new life. [Posted 7/16/2026]

Adopting a dog with children in Knoxville
Bring the whole family to meet the dog before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the dog behaves around children your kids' ages.
Teach children to let the dog come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the dog alone while it's eating or sleeping. Give the dog a bed or crate of their own to retreat to, and always supervise young children with a new dog.
Relaxed adult dogs are often a better match for young children than puppies, which jump up, nip and chew while they learn.

What kind of dog is best with kids?
A calm, patient dog that the rescue has seen around children. Adult dogs are often easier than puppies with young kids, since their personalities are known and they play less roughly.
