1. Bandit

Young · Male · Carolina Dog / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 21 mi from Smyrna

Meet Bandit!

Bandit is a 1 year old, neutered Carolina dog and Labrador mix who was saved from euthanasia in a high kill TX shelter. He has been fostered for 3 months in Lebanon, TN. We are looking to rehome him in the next two to three weeks because our resident dogs do not get along with him despite our best efforts.

Read more about Bandit

He is eager to please, intelligent, playful, medium energy, affectionate and curious! He is good with people of all ages, including children 5 and older, and gets along well with dogs when he is properly introduced. We think Bandit would do well in a home with other dogs that match his playful energy. He would also do well in a home as a solo dog.

We do not recommend him for a home with cats given his prey drive towards small animals.

Bandit is house/potty trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. He currently knows "sit", "leave it" and “wait” and will patiently wait at doors and for his meals. He is very treat motivated and responds well to a clicker during his training. He has received some obedience training and continues to learn new skills each week.
Bandit loves to play fetch, loves squeaky and chew toys and playing chase with his foster siblings.

Bandit is 41 lbs, in perfect health, neutered, fully vetted, up to date on all vaccines and rabies, heartworm negative, microchipped and current on heartworm preventive.

Foster will provide Bandit’s food, all vet records and rabies certificate for his new adopter.

If Bandit sounds like the kind of companion you've been missing, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Be sure to include your city and state so we can learn a little about where this handsome fellow might be headed for his next chapter!

10. Brittany

Young · Female · Beagle (short coat) · 21 mi from Smyrna

This beautiful purebred Beagle girl called Brittany is our pride and joy to offer to a Beagle loving family. Her story is sad and one that will make you sad and mad all rolled in to one roller coaster of emotions. A young newly wed couple were driving from their home in Chattanooga, on their way to a honeymoon in Nashville, TN. Out of the corner of their eye while driving, they saw a truck pulled over and pushing this girl out onto the side of the road and then drive away. They owned two dogs of their own and it broke their heart to see such meanness. She was in a desperate situation. They pulled over and took her in to their car and then started making calls to shelters and rescues in the Nashville area where they were destined to arrive in a few hours.

Read more about Brittany

They got Critter Cavalry on the phone and we stepped up to take her in immediately and we would make sure she had a future family who would never do such a horrible thing as to abandon her. What we have found out with Brittany is that she is a happy and inviting girl who loves to play with other dogs and who loves to spoken to with kindness. She craves love which we are sure she got little of before. Her fav game is to chase a ball. She is young as in probably a year or 2 at the oldest and she weighs 26 pounds. She is being spayed 10/23 and has already started her shots and worming. She is picture perfect if you want a Beagle or small dog that is not tiny but resilient and fun and loving. We know she loves couches and dog company for playtime and hanging out. She’s housebroken and will definitely need a fenced yard to keep that Beagle nose safely within sight of your back door.

12. Professor Knox

Adult · Male · Doberman Pinscher (short coat) · 21 mi from Smyrna

Professor Knox.... my oh my what a beautiful soul this Doberman is!!! What you feel from Knox when you meet him is hope and an energy that he wants to learn and grow in to a phenomenal Doberman. Born on Christmas Day of 2025 this sweet puppy had all the hope in the world of a great life ahead. Somehow the stable future got sidetracked and he was not treated well in his first adoptive home. What happened next was a kind young couple heard of his plight and need for a new place and eagerly took him home without doing all the homework on the needs of a smart Doberman. They could not give him the big fenced yard and the time that a Doberman of his caliber needs. They have tried to be what he needs but they realize he needs so much more. With love they are asking Critter Cavalry Rescue to help them find his forever home soon but with much scrutiny. This 70 pound boy at just 10 months must not be placed in hands that are not capable and knowledgeable of the breed. Professor Knox is a sweet soul that has no aggression or fear. He is still so innocent in his time to learn and a sponge to be shaped and molded in to greatness. Professor Knox is a boy that needs more time out and about in the world so that he can be a great Ambassador for his breed. He loves cats and has his "own" cat in this second home that he is in now. He needs a dog to play with . The current dogs in his home are old and over the excitement of youth. Knox deserves a youthful playmate. He is housebroken, crate trained and knows how to manage a doggie door. Professor is a lover and not a fighter but if someone he does not know comes to the house and he greets them, he will stand between the visitor and his owner. Natural Doberman character. He is truly not leash savvy at all. He will need a new owner to train him on that and perhaps a harness will work best. He is not a chewer but he will gather things from around the house and put in his dog bed. This boy has the nature of a protector and a lover. A smart dog that is the best of his breed. He is still young and learning and we want a Doberman savvy family to adopt him and polish his nature talents to the fullest shine!!!!

Our handsome boy Reese is an Australian Aussie mix boy who is approximately a year and a half old, weighs 38 pounds, and is fully vetted—he is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Reese has a friendly, easygoing temperament and gets along wonderfully with everyone, including children of all ages, other dogs, and even the cats. He is definitely a rare Australian Shepherd who does not display the usual alpha temperament that most males of his breed do. He is a happy boy that delights in going for car rides and going for walks with his person. We do ask that his new forever home have a secured and fenced yard. It is best for his breed who loves to explore and be active. We think that he is ideal for a first time dog owner, families with children over 5 years of age and certainly singles who want an adventure buddy in life. 16. Jack

Adult · Male · Poodle (Standard) (medium coat) · 21 mi from Smyrna

Jack is a handsome 5 year-old, 60 lbs black Standard Poodle who is finally getting the opportunity to discover what it means to be part of a family. Originally his life started off being purchased as a puppy for one purpose — to be a breeding dog. He was never given the chance to live inside, curl up beside his people, learn the routines of a household or simply be someone's companion. He spent his years outside in a small pen and requured to father many puppies. He never got to experience the life that a dog like Jack deserves. Now that chapter is behind him, and we are so excited about what comes next.

Read more about Jack

Jack is incredibly loving, affectionate and smart. He has a wonderful temperament and truly enjoys people. There is a sweetness to him that makes it easy to imagine just how much he is going to blossom once he realizes that being someone's dog means so much more than simply being cared for. Although Jack has never lived inside, he is already showing us some very promising signs. He has been doing remarkably well with keeping his kennel clean, giving us a wonderful foundation as he learns house manners. And with the intelligence Standard Poodles are known for, we expect Jack to be a very willing student once he understands what is being asked of him. There will be plenty of new things for Jack to discover — household sounds, doors, furniture, routines and all the little parts of family life he has never experienced. He may need patience and guidance along the way, but he has everything we could hope for in a dog beginning this journey: intelligence, affection, a gentle nature and an enormous capacity to love. We can't help but think that Jack is going to be absolutely amazed by his new life with a family. A warm bed, a family to follow from room to room and someone who wants him beside them simply because they love him. The freedom to finally be a companion instead of a breeding dog. Jack has spent five years waiting for the opportunity to be someone's beloved family member. Now it's finally his turn. And we have a feeling this incredibly sweet, intelligent boy is going to be amazing at it. She’s much more of a backyard-zoomies girl than a long-walk girl—the busy outside world can sometimes be a little overwhelming for her, and she’s happiest running and playing somewhere familiar and secure.
Ghost would love to be your one-and-only pet and soak up all the attention for herself. Other dogs can make her uncomfortable, so a home where she doesn’t have to share her space with other animals will allow her to relax and be her happiest self.
She has lived with a toddler and newborn and absolutely adores her little humans. She has been incredibly loving and gentle with them. When meeting children she doesn’t know, she appreciates a calmer introduction rather than lots of excitement all at once, so a quieter home or one with older children would be a great fit. She also would do best as the only dog in the family and not sharing any spotlight with others. More than anything, Ghost wants her person. Give her a safe yard to run in, plenty of treats, a comfy place to cuddle, and someone to follow around all day, and she’ll give you an incredible amount of love in return. ❤️
Ghost is looking for someone who wants a loyal little shadow, professional cuddle buddy, backyard zoomie champion, and best friend all rolled into one. Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.

18. Ginny Lynn

Young · Female · Poodle (Standard) / Mixed (medium coat) · 21 mi from Smyrna

Meet Ginny Lynn — a sweet little girl who is still learning that being someone’s dog is a pretty wonderful thing. ❤️

Ginny Lynn is a 45 pound, one-year-old Poodle mix who, along with her 2 brothers, was abandoned when a tenant left them and her grey Poodle dad, behind at a cabin in the woods. They were actually all 4 left in crates and had to wait to be discovered and rescued many days later. They had known both indoor and outdoor life before that, but suddenly being left behind like that was a pretty confusing and scary experience for these pups.

Read more about Ginny Lynn

So, it’s no surprise that Ginny can be a little sensitive when everything around her is new. She may not be the one who marches through the door on day one like she owns the place. She’s more of a “let me look around, figure this out and make sure everything is okay” kind of girl.

And honestly, once she decides everything really is okay, she is pretty amazing and sweet.

She has been living in a house now and is doing well. She is discovering the joys of being comfortable, having a soft place to curl up and getting to spend his days around people. She’s learning that a house isn’t something to be unsure of—it’s where the good stuff happens.

Ginny Lynn is smart, loving and eager to learn. She just needs someone who understands that confidence doesn't always happen overnight. Give her a little patience, a predictable routine and some kindness, and you’ll get to watch this sweet girl come out of her shell.

Once she settles in, expect a happy little companion who wants to be part of things. She has a gentle nature and a sweetness about her that makes you want to reassure her that she has finally landed somewhere good.

And maybe that's what Ginny needs most—not anything fancy, not a perfect home, just a person who will let her take a breath, get comfortable and realize that this time, she's not being left behind.

This girl deserves to know what it feels like to be somebody's dog. To have a favorite bed. A favorite person. A routine. A home. And most importantly, to know that when her person walks out the door, they're coming back.

We think Ginny is going to be awfully easy to love. ❤️. If you are interested in giving this girl The Good Life.... Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at CCRTennessee@gmail.com asap. Tell us what city and state you live in when you are inquiring about her.

19. Ruger

Young · Male · Poodle (Standard) / Mixed (medium coat) · 21 mi from Smyrna

Ruger — A Sweet Boy Discovering How Wonderful Home Can Be

Ruger is a 40 pound, one-year-old Poodle mix whose life didn’t get the easiest start. He was abandoned along with his brothers and their dad when a tenant left them behind at a cabin in the woods. Like his brothers, Ruger spent his early life outside with very little experience of the world beyond what he knew.

Read more about Ruger

Because of that, adopters should expect Ruger to be a little shy and sensitive at first. Moving into a new home, meeting new people and learning a whole new routine is a big change for a boy who hasn’t always had the chance to experience the world in a safe and secure way. He may need a little time to settle in and figure out that this new life really is his.

But once Ruger gets comfortable, you get to see what a truly sweet boy he is. ❤️ He has been living in a house now and is doing wonderfully. He has discovered some of the very best things about being an indoor dog—especially finding a soft place to curl up and getting comfy on the bed!

Ruger is a loving, happy and smart little guy who is eager to learn and be part of his family. He may be sensitive, but underneath that initial shyness is a sweet boy who wants to trust, wants to please and wants to be loved.

He doesn't need someone to expect him to walk into a new home and immediately act like he has lived there forever. He just needs someone who will give him a little patience while he adjusts, reassure him that he is safe, and let his personality come out at his own pace.

Once Ruger settles in, expect a happy, affectionate, smart little companion who is ready to enjoy all the things he should have had from the beginning—soft beds, loving people, a safe home and a family of his own.

Ruger has already come so far. Now he just needs someone willing to give him the time and love to take that final step into his forever home. ❤️

She does pull a little on the leash because she gets excited about all the wonderful things there are to see and smell, but she loves going for walks and is eager to explore. With some consistent training and a confident handler, we think she will learn those leash manners in no time. And Maple is definitely not looking for a life spent sitting on the couch all day! This girl has energy and she wants to use it. She loves hiking, running with her person, going for long walks, and simply being outside enjoying the world. A securely fenced yard is required because she loves having the freedom to safely run and explore off leash. She would be wonderful for someone who hikes, runs, walks regularly, or simply wants a dog who is excited to join them in an active lifestyle. 22. Bailey Girl

Adult · Female · Australian Shepherd / Mixed · 21 mi from Smyrna

Meet Bailey Girl— All She Needs Is a Chance ❤️ Bailey Girl is a beautiful 27-pound female 18 month old Mini Aussie mix with a story that will break your heart—but the little dog she is becoming will put it right back together.

Read more about Bailey Girl

Bailey Girl was abandoned during extremely hot weather when someone placed her inside a school playground with no way to get out. Tragically, she wasn’t discovered until the following Monday when the school reopened. Someone had reportedly witnessed her being left there but did not notify anyone. We may never understand why she was abandoned that way, but we do know one thing: her story does not have to end where it began.
Today, Bailey Girl is safe in a loving foster home, and she is doing beautifully. ❤️ It took her only a couple of days to begin trusting her foster, and now she has become her little shadow. She does well with other dogs and cats, walks on a leash, and can even be left loose in the home with the other dogs while her foster is at work.
Bailey Girl is still working on becoming completely house trained, but she is extremely intelligent and continues to learn. She enjoys having a yard where she can run and as her confidence and trust have grown, she happily comes back to her foster when called.
Because Bailey Girl can be somewhat fearful of children, we believe she would be happiest in a home without children, where she can feel secure and develop a strong bond with her person or family.
Bailey may need a little more patience in the beginning than some dogs. You have to earn her trust—but once you do, something very special happens. She begins to understand that she is safe. She follows you. She looks to you for reassurance. And before long, you realize you haven’t just gained a dog—you’ve gained a devoted little sidekick.
A word of advice please. Bailey Girl needs someone who won’t expect everything from her on the first day. She needs love, patience, kindness, and time. Give her the opportunity to understand that you aren’t going anywhere, and she will give that love and devotion right back to you. ❤️ Bailey may very well become the dog you talk about for the rest of your life. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you would like to make her a part of your world and life.
She has already experienced what it feels like to be left behind.
Now it’s time for this beauty to discover what it feels like to be chosen—and never abandoned again. ❤️

23. Puppy Poppy

Young · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Mixed · 21 mi from Smyrna

Meet your new adventure girl and professional couch cuddler!

Read more about Puppy Poppy

This beautiful black German Shepherd mix girl is a young 8 month old pup who is 43 pounds now with a destiny of about 55 pounds when a fully developed adult beauty. She is a happy, playful, energetic, affectionate, and full of personality Shepherd girl who absolutely LOVES playing fetch and would happily keep the game going as long as you’re willing to throw the ball. She’s an active girl who would thrive with someone who enjoys walks, adventures, playtime, and keeping her both physically and mentally busy.
She has been working with a professional dog trainer for approximately 4–5 months and has made great progress with consistent training and structure. She’ll do best with an owner who is willing to continue that consistency, give her plenty of exercise, and keep reinforcing everything she’s learned. You must be dedicated to keep up this good work and structure for such an intelligent young girl.
She also loves cats — possibly a little too much! She’s very interested in her feline friends and loves trying to play with them, so any cats in her future home should be comfortable and confident around an enthusiastic canine roommate.
Once she’s gotten all that energy out, though, she’s more than happy to switch gears. She LOVES climbing onto the couch for cuddles and settling in for a long nap with her person.

She’s looking for an active, committed home that will give her the exercise, consistency, playtime, and affection she thrives on. In return, you’ll get an enthusiastic fetch partner, adventure buddy, and one seriously dedicated couch-snuggler. ❤️ Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in making this girl a part of your future dog fun and perhaps a running partner. 25. Puppy Richie

Young · Male · Border Collie / Mixed · 21 mi from Smyrna

Richie " Sambora " is what this Border Collie mix puppy should be called because he is so handsome and extra charming. Born around April 1st, 5 months ago from 9/1, his mom was a 40 pound girl with 4 puppies who were all left outside in the harsh heat while their owner went on vacation. No food, no water was left behind. Soon Animal Control was there to take the sweet dogs in to the shelter for relief and care. Richie is 25 pounds and a very special boy. He has very special eye coloring that gives him two different colored eyes that make him absolutely unforgettable. This boy Richie has already figured out that those beautiful eyes have a way of melting hearts. Look out ladies, this handsome boy knows exactly how to turn on the charm and if he played guitar like Sambora does with Bon Jovi, he would be dangerous. But underneath those gorgeous eyes is a sweet puppy who is learning that humans can be trusted and that life can be pretty wonderful. He is almost housebroken, crate training is successful and he is good with all other dogs and cats as well. We expect him to the same weight range as his momma, 40 pounds. He is happy and curious and playful. Working on his leash skills and he has had a great deal of guidance from his foster persons that have helped him the past few weeks. If you would like to adopt this happy young pup please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com Mention where you live. 26. Chiffon

Young · Female · Norwegian Elkhound / Anatolian Shepherd / Mixed · 21 mi from Smyrna

Chiffon is incredibly loving and remarkably smart. She has so much potential just waiting to be discovered. At almost one year old, she is at such a wonderful point in her life: young enough to learn, adapt, and grow, but old enough that her personality is beginning to shine through. She is just about finished growing and is on the larger side of medium.
The right family could really help Chiffon blossom. She doesn't need someone looking for a perfectly finished dog. She needs someone who will see what she can become and enjoy being part of that journey. With consistency, guidance, patience, and love, there is so much you could teach this girl—and so much she could give back.
We can picture Chiffon learning the rhythm of family life, going for walks with her people, discovering new places, soaking up attention, and eventually wondering how she ever lived without a family of her own. Her intelligence and genetics give her an incredible foundation, but the love and guidance of the right person could help turn that potential into something truly wonderful.
Chiffon has already been given a good start. Now she needs someone willing to take the next step with her.
Someone who will invest in her. Someone who will give her that one-on-one connection she hasn't yet experienced. Someone who will enjoy watching her learn, grow, and become the amazing companion we believe she is meant to be.
And in return, you may get something pretty extraordinary—a smart, loving, loyal dog who has all the makings of an incredible family member.

27. Artsy Marcy

Adult · Female · Border Collie / Mixed · 21 mi from Smyrna

Meet Artsy Marcy – A Survivor with a Brilliant Mind and an Even Bigger Heart

Read more about Artsy Marcy

Artsy Marcy is a beautiful Border Collie mix, around 2 years old and weighing 55–60 pounds. Her life began with unimaginable hardship, yet she has never let her past define her. It is believed that Marcy and her siblings were abandoned in a remote rural area of Tennessee. While trying to survive on their own, tragedy struck when they were hit by a train. Her sister did not survive, and Marcy was left with a severely dislocated hip. Thanks to a compassionate foster who refused to give up on her, Marcy received the surgery and care she desperately needed. Today she has only a slight limp—a small reminder of just how far she has come.

Marcy is everything you would expect from a Border Collie mix: incredibly intelligent, observant, athletic, and eager to be part of whatever her people are doing. She loves hiking, exploring, and would thrive in an active home where she can exercise both her body and her mind. She has a natural herding instinct and enjoys having a job or purpose.

She is wonderful with people and genuinely enjoys human companionship. While she may be a little shy during first introductions, she warms up quickly and forms strong, loyal bonds. Once she trusts you, she is affectionate, devoted, and eager to please.

Marcy has lived around cats, but she does have a prey drive, so any home with cats should be experienced and committed to proper introductions and management. She also does well with some dogs but can be selective about her canine companions. Like many intelligent, confident working breeds, she appreciates respectful introductions and clear leadership. She would do best with an adopter who understands Border Collie personalities and will provide consistent structure, training, and outlets for her energy.

Marcy isn't looking to be just another dog lying quietly in the corner. She is looking for someone who will appreciate her intelligence, celebrate her spirit, and give her the freedom to be the amazing Border Collie mix she was born to be.

Against all odds, this remarkable girl survived when she easily could have been another forgotten statistic. Now she deserves the happy ending she has fought so hard for.

If you'd like to learn more about Artsy Marcy or speak with the foster mom who saved her life, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.

Meet Knox! If you've ever wished for a dog who thinks you're the greatest person in the world, Knox has been practicing for this role his entire life. This handsome 3-year-old Aussiedoodle weighs about 80 pounds at the moment, but don't let the extra fluff fool you—he's already working on a healthier lifestyle after spending his early years enjoying a little too much people food. His former owner adored him and spoiled him with table scraps, so now Knox is discovering that dog food, daily walks, and playtime are the recipe for feeling his best. Knox's world changed forever when his beloved mom unexpectedly passed away this spring.

Read more about Knox

Since then, he's been missing what he treasures most: having someone to love. If you're looking for a loyal sidekick, Knox checks all the boxes. He's house-trained, walks nicely on a leash, loves children, and has a gentle, affectionate personality that makes everyone feel like they're his favorite person. Whether you're heading out for a walk, spending time in the backyard, or loading up the car for a weekend adventure, Knox will happily be right by your side. He's looking for a family that enjoys being active and will help him continue his fitness journey. A fenced yard for games of fetch, daily walks, and plenty of quality time together would be his dream come true. While Knox hasn't officially met cats, he politely ignores the neighborhood cats he sees during walks, so we think he has the makings of a respectful housemate with proper introductions. Neutered, heartworm negative, and ready to begin again, Knox isn't just looking for another home—he's looking for his next best friend. Maybe that's you. Grown dogs need less supervision than puppies and often know the basics, like sitting and walking on a leash, which suits people who work or have young children.
