3. Pedro

Adult (3 years) · Male · Boston Terrier (short coat) · 22 mi from Celina

Hi, I'm Pedro, and yes, the smile is real. I know, it's pretty adorable. I'm a 3-year-old Boston Terrier boy weighing in at a perfectly portable 30 pounds, and my favorite hobby is being wherever you are. Going to the kitchen? I'll supervise. Watching TV? I'll be your cuddle buddy. Taking a car ride? Call me your co-pilot. I love absolutely everyone I meet and make friends faster than you can say, "good boy." Dogs? Love them. Cats? Love them too. Kids? Yep, they're great! My foster cat sibling and foster doggy brother are some of my favorite pals, especially when it's time to play outside.Speaking of playtime, I love running around the yard, hanging out with my doggy friends, and showing off my excellent recall. But don't let that fool you into thinking I'm some wild party animal. I'm actually a pretty relaxed dude who believes life is all about balance: a little play, a little adventure, and a whole lot of snuggling. I've got all the important grown-up skills, too. I'm house trained, crate trained, leash trained, and even know how to use a doggy door. Basically, I'm the total package. My dream home? One where I'm loved, included in the fun, and maybe have a furry sibling or two to hang out with. In return, I'll provide companionship, cuddles, smiles, and expert-level shadowing services. So, what do you think? Ready to have the cutest sidekick you've ever met? I know I can't wait to meet my forever family. My adoption fee is $400.

4. Wilson

Adult · Male · Yellow Labrador Retriever / Great Pyrenees / Mixed · 22 mi from Celina

Meet Wilson: a sweet soul looking for a little patience and a whole lot of love!

Wilson is an adult lab mix with a gentle heart. He's sharing his foster home with four other dogs and a 5-year-old boy, and he gets along wonderfully with everyone. His sweet, submissive nature makes him easy to root for, and even easier to love.

Wilson is still learning that a leash doesn't have to be scary. With support from his foster family and a trainer, he's working through that fear and building confidence. He's looking for a patient family who will continue that work, celebrate his progress, and let him learn at his own pace.

Read more about Wilson

A home with a securely fenced yard would be the best fit, giving Wilson room to enjoy being a dog while keeping everyday leash pressure low as he learns.

Wilson is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heart worm negative. All he's missing is a family to call his own.

If you have a little patience, a yard, and room in your heart for a sweet boy finding his courage, Wilson would love to meet you.

All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. Read more about Phoenix

Phoenix is around 14 to 15 weeks old. He’s had two rounds of shots dewormed several times has been being kept in Foster as an indoor family pet where he’s also become crate trained and 90% housebroken.

Phoenix is really playful. He has an above average energy level - it’s normal for a puppy. It’s just seven or eight out of 10. Phoenix absolutely loves playing with his little brother and the big Foster dogs that he’s been staying with!

Phoenix is smart and eager to please; he’s just learning some commands and all about fetch and retrieve.

Phoenix is also a cuddler; he’s still young enough of a puppy where he runs around for 15 or 20 minutes then he’s wiped out for a few hours for a good nap and there’s nothing he loves more than hanging with his humans!

Beautiful Phoenix will be at DASH in Dallas this weekend. We are hoping to find the right family for him for this Halloween and daylight savings weekend!

6. Petey

Senior · Male · Terrier · 22 mi from Celina

Meet Petey, a 5-year-old gentle giant who is happiest simply being close to his people. Petey is loving, affectionate, and incredibly easy to bond with. His love language is absolutely "your shadow," and if you are nearby, that is exactly where he wants to be. He is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and currently lives with two small dogs who he loves to play with. In his previous home, he also lived successfully with five cats, and he does well with kids too.

Read more about Petey

Petey has a nice balance of playful energy and calm downtime. He enjoys gentle wrestling, chasing around the yard, going for walks, chewing on bones or toys, and joining in whenever another dog wants to play. Once the fun is over, he settles easily and is perfectly happy lounging on his mat as long as his family is nearby. He is inquisitive, loves a new adventure, and seems to feel most secure when he knows he is part of the action.

Petey's story has had some unexpected turns. He was once scheduled for euthanasia at Dallas Animal Services before being adopted, but when his previous owner later lost his housing and could no longer care for him, Petey once again found himself needing a safe place to land. Through it all, he has remained an incredibly gentle, loving dog who bonds easily with both people and other pets.

His ideal home would include plenty of companionship, room to play, regular walks, lots of snuggle time, and possibly another dog or two to share life with. If you are looking for a sweet, social dog who wants nothing more than to love his family and be included in everything, Petey may be your perfect match.

7. Fletcher

Adult · Male · Doberman Pinscher / Mixed · 22 mi from Celina

Meet Fletcher, a 3-year-old big goofy lovebug who is equal parts playful, loyal, and snuggly. Fletcher was found abandoned at Lake Cliff Park, where he walked right up to his finder and her Labradors, started playing, and then happily followed them home. He has been charming everyone ever since.

Read more about Fletcher

Fletcher is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and great with both dogs and kids. He loves people and wants to be wherever his family is. He is always up for a walk, a game of ball, or some backyard zoomies, but he also knows how to settle down and enjoy a good nap or cuddle session. His favorite things include treats, chew toys, antlers, and especially stuffed toys, which he loves to carry around and snuggle with.

His perfect day starts with a morning walk and breakfast, followed by some serious nap time. He is happy to head outside around lunch, enjoys a bigger afternoon walk, and then settles in for dinner and more snuggles before sleeping in his crate at night. Fletcher is not over-the-top high energy, but he definitely has a silly side and can get wonderfully goofy when playtime starts.

More than anything, Fletcher is just a genuinely sweet dog. He has done beautifully with every person and dog he has met and bonds closely with his people. If you are looking for a loyal companion who can make you laugh, join you on adventures, and then curl up beside you at the end of the day, Fletcher may be your guy.

Skylar is a loving and adorable Aussie blue heeler mix whose blue eyes will fill your heart and soul.
Skylar, 4 years old, was adopted18 months ago and her family adores her. She has a sweet loving nature and loves to be around her people.
However, her owner has a high risk pregnancy and have very limited activity and she and her husband are very worried that even after the pregnancy Skylar is going to continue to need the attention and affection she is used to.
Skylar has very balanced indoor and outdoor behavior. Indoors Skyler can be very chill; he will play with toys or watch a movie with you or lie around on the floor with a high value chewy toy.
Outdoors Skyler’s energy is also equitable; she’s as fun and outgoing as you want her to be. She is ALWAYS ready to play and go on walks. She can go on leisurely leash walks and/or be a jogging buddy. activities. With other dogs, hiking, swimming, and exploring Skylar‘s energy could be limitless but she will still come when called and behave well in outdoor group settings.
Skylar knows a few tricks and commands and she’s an eager learner and very food motivated so she’ll be a fun dog to train to do more tricks and obedience work.

Skylar has been very tolerant with our young kids and when she hasn't liked something they're doing she'll lick their faces or move away to get them to stop.

Skylar has always been friendly when we meet other dogs on walks and she did fantastic with our foster puppies.
It is with broken hearts we have decided it’s best to rehome Skylar so that she can regain the attention she’s used to having . Since we have had children in the past couple of years, it’s been a lot more challenging to take Skylar on the amount of walks that she deserves, so she may need a refresher course in leash training, but she will learn quickly be respectful and become a pleasure again to take on walks.

Cute, Cuddly COPPER!
Copper is an ADORABLE dog and a loving furry friend! Unfortunately, his owner was recently relocated to a station in Japan and, heartbreakingly, was unable to bring Copper along.
When Copper lived with his original owner, she worked from home and was able to spend lots of time with him throughout the day.

Read more about Copper

He is currently staying with her mother, who works long hours in the medical field and has an unpredictable schedule.
Without a consistent human presence, Copper has become increasingly anxious and insecure. We are hoping to find him a home where he can receive the time, attention, and companionship he deserves.
Wonderful With Other Dogs!
Copper is fantastic with canine companions! He grew up with a Shiba Inu and currently lives alongside a Border Collie and a Mountain Dog. He has a great history of living with other dogs, making him a wonderful candidate for a home with friendly canine siblings.
A 10/10 Out and About!
When it comes to getting out and about, Copper is a 10/10! His owner describes him as AMAZING in public places. He enjoys experiencing the world around him and is a wonderful companion for outings and adventures. His leash skills could use a little refresher, but that’s something his new family can work on with him.
The Best of Both Worlds!
Copper has the ideal energy level for an Aussie. He’s happy to chill when you want to relax and ready to play when you’re in the mood for fun!
He LOVES tennis balls and playing catch, but he also has a sweet, cuddly side. When it’s time to settle in at home, Copper is more than happy to snuggle up beside his favorite human.
Could You Be Copper’s Person?
Copper is an AMAZING boy who simply needs a patient, compassionate home where he can feel secure and loved again. He would thrive in a household where his people are home more consistently and he can enjoy the companionship of both humans and, ideally, other friendly dogs throughout the day.
His circumstances have changed through no fault of his own, and he deserves a fresh start with a family who understands how much love, companionship, and reassurance he needs.
If you’re looking for a fun-loving, dog-friendly Aussie with a playful spirit and a heart full of cuddles, Copper might just be your perfect match!

12. Remi

Senior · Female · Terrier · 22 mi from Celina

Meet Remi, a 9-year-old sweetheart who somehow manages to be calm, goofy, gentle, and full of joy all at once. Her foster family describes her as truly "the sweetest dog," and it is easy to see why. Remi loves being around her people, meeting new friends, lounging nearby while you go about your day, and soaking up the sunshine. When she comes back inside nice and warm from sunbathing, her foster family lovingly calls her their "baked potato."

Read more about Remi

Remi is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and rides well in the car. She does wonderfully with kids, including toddlers, and is gentle, polite, and never pushy. She also does well with other dogs, especially calm dogs her size or smaller, and after a little time to warm up, she is happy to play and share toys. Cats are still an unknown. Indoors, Remi is quiet and easygoing. She rarely barks, settles into household routines easily, and is perfectly happy napping in whatever room her people are in. At night, she likes sleeping nearby on her big fluffy dog bed, complete with the occasional snore and little dream "woofs."

Don't let her age fool you, because Remi is still active, healthy, and always up for a walk, some yard time, or a new adventure. She is also a major treat fan and performs an adorable little "dinner dance" when mealtime rolls around.

Remi's story almost ended far too soon when she landed on the euthanasia list at Dallas Animal Services. Her foster family saw her profile, said "absolutely not," and brought her home. Since then, she has shown them just how special she is. Loving, joyful, goofy, polite, and endlessly sweet, Remi is the kind of dog whose smile and helicopter tail can brighten an entire room.

Her foster family jokes that she does not have a "you're in trouble" full name. Instead, she has a "you are being ridiculously precious" name: "Remitha Marie". If you are looking for a gentle companion who wants to be your shadow, soak up the sun, and love your family with her whole heart, Remi may be exactly who you have been waiting for.

13. Layla

Senior · Female · Terrier · 22 mi from Celina

Meet Layla, an 11-year-old sweetheart who has been through more change than any senior dog should have to face, yet somehow remains gentle, loving, and completely open to everyone she meets. After her owner passed away, Layla and her two brothers were surrendered to a shelter. Her brothers were adopted, leaving Layla behind until a volunteer met her, fell in love, and made sure she had a safe place to land with Dallas Pets Alive.

Read more about Layla

Layla is truly an easygoing girl. She is potty trained, walks beautifully on leash, loves car rides, and enjoys a leisurely stroll of about a mile before settling in for one of her many naps. She is wonderful with people, has done great with children and dogs of all sizes, and even calmly walks away when another dog is less than friendly. Her previous notes recommend a home without cats. Layla may also be experiencing some hearing loss, but she takes it all in stride. She does not enjoy being crated, though she does wonderfully free roaming or relaxing in a bedroom while her people are away.

More than anything, Layla wants to be close to her people. She is a professional shadow with a velvet-soft coat, a gentle spirit, and just enough playful energy left for toys and the occasional burst of silliness between naps. After losing her person, her home, and her canine brothers, Layla deserves to spend the rest of her golden years knowing she is home for good.

Buddy is your boy!

Buddy is a handsome, purebred Shih Tzu with striking black-and-white markings, an adorable little face, and a personality that's larger than life!

Read more about Buddy

This happy little fellow enjoys the finer things in life, especially food! Buddy is a little on the chunky side and certainly doesn't believe in missing a meal! One of his most adorable habits is sitting up on his back legs and having an entire conversation with you. He's quite the little comedian and knows exactly how to charm his audience, especially when treats are involved!

Behind all that personality is an incredibly loving little boy who adores affection, snuggles, and simply being close to his people. Buddy has so much love to give and is ready to share it with someone special.

Buddy's Story

Buddy's world changed when his beloved owner passed away. Thankfully, a caring family member stepped in to provide a loving home for Buddy and his sister, Baby, during a very difficult time.

Unfortunately, when their caregiver faced eviction and could no longer keep them, the heartbreaking decision was made to ask for help finding them safe, loving homes.

That's when Legacy Humane Society stepped in to give Buddy and Baby the opportunity for a wonderful new beginning.

Despite all the changes in his life, Buddy has remained a happy, loving, affectionate little gentleman. He has so much personality and an incredible ability to make everyone around him smile.

Now, at 8 years young, Buddy is hoping to find a forever family who will cherish him, spoil him with love, and give him the security of knowing he will never have to worry about losing his home again.

A Great Little Houseguest! Buddy is both house-trained and crate-trained. Even better, he is trustworthy when left alone and does not need to be crated while his family is away.

A Wonderful Walking Buddy! Buddy walks nicely on a leash and enjoys getting outside for short walks, fresh air, and a little adventure.

Your Favorite Copilot! Buddy loves car rides and especially enjoys riding shotgun! He's always happy to accompany his favorite person on an outing.

Unfortunately, due to an unexpected eviction, she is unable to take them to her new home.

Wanting only the very best for Baby and Buddy, she reached out to Legacy Humane Society for help finding them the loving forever home they deserve.

Imagine having twice the love, twice the snuggles, and twice the entertainment from these two adorable little companions!

A Little More About Baby

Baby is approximately 15 pounds, spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and heartworm negative. She has also just received a full dental cleaning, so this precious little princess is all caught up on her veterinary care and ready to begin her next chapter with a loving forever family!

Baby is good with other dogs and older, respectful children. She is house-trained and crate-trained and can be trusted to have free roam of the house.

Like other Shih Tzus, Baby is a low-shedding breed but requires regular professional grooming and daily brushing to keep her beautiful coat healthy and comfortable.

At eight years young, Baby still has plenty of love, laughter, and wonderful memories to share. She's looking for a family who will treasure her, spoil her with affection, and give her the security of knowing she's finally home for good.

Could you be the happy ending Baby and Buddy have been waiting for?

If you have room in your heart and home for this precious little girl, and hopefully her beloved brother, Buddy, too, please consider opening your heart to them. They've already lost so much, and they deserve a future filled with love, comfort, and happiness.

17. Josie

Adult (3 years 1 month) · Female · French Bulldog · 22 mi from Celina

Josie here, reporting for duty... and by duty, I mean collecting cuddles, chasing tennis balls, and making sure everyone knows I'm the sweetest little Frenchie around! I'm a 3-year-old French Bulldog weighing in at a perfect 25 pounds of squishy, adorable goodness. I absolutely love people and thrive on attention. If you're looking for a little shadow with a big heart, look no further. I came into my foster home like I already owned the place, confidently making myself comfortable and charming everyone I met. I've got good manners, too! I'm housetrained, know how to use a dog door, and I'm crate trained. I can show off my smarts by sitting on command and shaking with both my left and right paws. Pretty impressive, right? I also ride great in the car, so I'm always ready for adventures or errands by your side. When it comes to friends, I'm easygoing and gentle. I get along wonderfully with dogs of all ages and sizes, and I enjoy meeting new people. Whether you're a senior looking for a devoted companion or a family wanting a loving pup to complete your home, I'm happy to spread my affection around. My energy level is on the lower side, but don't mistake that for boring. I still love to play, especially if there's a ball involved! Balls are my absolute favorite toys. Now, I do have one very important quirk my future family needs to know about. You see, I have an unfortunate talent for finding socks and swallowing them whole. Socks, small toys, and other little items left on the floor are simply too tempting for me. Because of this, I need a home with adults or older children who can be diligent about keeping things picked up. Trust me, we'll all be happier if the socks stay in the hamper where they belong! My dream home is one filled with love, attention, belly rubs, and people who want a loyal little companion by their side. If you're looking for a gentle, cuddly Frenchie who will happily ride shotgun, snuggle on the couch, and steal your heart (but hopefully not your socks), I think we might be the perfect match. My adoption fee is $700.

Meet Enzo!
❤️

Enzo is a 2-year-old, big-hearted, goofy, and incredibly sweet boy who brings laughter and love wherever he goes!

With an energy level of
8/10
, Enzo is always ready for an adventure, a game of chase, or some good old-fashioned fun. He especially loves high-energy dogs who enjoy running, playing, and roughhousing. His favorite companions are often Whippets and other playful pups who can keep up with his energetic spirit.

Enzo is part yoga master, part little fox, part seal—and maybe even half cat! He loves curling himself into a tiny ball, performing surprise barrel rolls, giving gentle little love nibbles, and sleeping with his back feet in the air. His silly quirks will keep you smiling, while his affectionate nature will quickly steal your heart.

Enzo is smart, eager to learn, and already knows several commands. He’s also a wonderful travel companion and does beautifully on car rides—even those lasting 10 hours!

Enzo is looking for a loving home with someone who understands and appreciates his energy. He’ll thrive with plenty of exercise, playtime, companionship, and mental stimulation. He can experience separation anxiety, especially when he hasn’t had an outlet for his energy, so he needs a family willing to support him with patience, structure, and understanding.

Enzo generally does well with other dogs and enjoys doggy daycare and dog parks. He does best with larger, energetic dogs who enjoy rough play, though he also has experience with smaller, calmer dogs. On walks, he may become leash-reactive if another dog lunges at him, and he needs a thoughtful handler who can help him navigate those encounters. He typically prefers to avoid conflict and will walk away when possible, but he has shown aggression toward dogs that bully or challenge him.

Enzo has so much love, laughter, and adventure to give. He’s ready to find his forever family!
❤️

Could you be the person Enzo has been waiting for?

Senior · Female · Terrier · 22 mi from Celina

Greta's a grand ol' gal who enjoys a calm day today, tomorrow, and for years to come. This ten-year-old lady enjoys dogs, cats, and kids who are equally relaxed. She'll play with her ball in the yard, which will be followed by a fabulous nap.

In her history, Greta developed a taste for food - any food, every food - and is notorious for sneaking into cabinets and cans to get her paws on some. She's good in her crate and it's a smart place to keep Greta out of her mischievous ways when she's home alone. Softer foods may be best for her senior teeth.

Greta's vision is limited so being close to her family keeps her calm and feeling safe. Her bright smile every morning brightens her home as much as the rising sun. During her sunset years, having a cozy, calm, and caring home will bring her as much joy as she'll bring you.

25. Janet

Senior · Female · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed · 22 mi from Celina

At 12 years young, Janet has perfected the art of the good life: slow sniffy walks, cozy beds, and staying as close to her favorite human as physically possible.

Janet is a calm, gentle senior girl who loves everyone she meets. She's good with dogs, pretty much ignores cats, and is great with kids. She's potty trained, crate trained, walks beautifully on leash, and has absolutely no interest in making life complicated. Toys? Eh. A cheeseburger? Maybe. Curling up in bed with you and following you from room to room? Now we're talking.

Janet was once sitting in a shelter with no interest and at the top of the euthanasia list. Thankfully, her foster saw that sweet face and knew she still had so much life and love left to give. She arrived nervous and unsure, but watching her learn to trust again has been pretty special. Now she sleeps in her foster's bed, curls up in their lap, and happily follows them everywhere.

Janet doesn't need much from her forever home. Give her a comfy place to sleep, a leisurely sniff walk, plenty of cuddles, and a human to call her own. She'll take care of the rest by being your sweetest little shadow.

Adult · Female · Husky / Mixed · 22 mi from Celina

Meet Indy, a two-year-old sweetheart who is equal parts playful, affectionate, and incredibly smart. She is food motivated and learns fast, picking up sit, down, and roll over in a single hour. She walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, is crate trained and potty trained, and has done great with other dogs. She is also very tolerant of handling and has shown no reaction to having her paws, ears, chest, mouth, or tail touched.

Read more about Indy

Indy has plenty of athletic energy and would thrive with someone who enjoys an active dog. She loves to run, jump, chase, and play, and she has some serious hops, so an agility-loving home could be a lot of fun for her. She does use her mouth during play, but has not bitten down, and she can get pretty enthusiastic when playing with other dogs. Once playtime is over, though, she is all about her people. She loves belly rubs, couch cuddles, and will happily nudge her head under your hand if she decides she is overdue for affection.

More than anything, Indy wants to bond closely with her person. She is curious, resilient, and very people-focused, and she settles nicely into a home routine. If you are looking for a smart, loving, athletic dog who can keep up with adventures and then curl up beside you at the end of the day, Indy may be your girl.

If you sit down, I will gently drape myself over you like a warm, living weighted blanket. It’s my calling. Toys? I’m intrigued, but also confused. I stare at them like they’re trying to tell me a secret. Food, however, now that I understand. I’m very food motivated and have perfected the art of the “sweetest boy” eyes to earn an extra nibble. I’m still working on my training including house training but making progress. I’m leash trained and very gentle. I get along well with other dogs, though bigger dogs make me nervous because I was picked on before. I’m happiest with kind, friendly pups or just hanging out with my humans. Car rides aren’t my favorite, but lounging in the yard? That’s my happy place. I love feeling the breeze, sniffing the world, and just being a peaceful little potato. I’m the sweetest boy-soft‑hearted, snuggly, quiet, and loyal. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who wants nothing more than to love you, follow you, and nap near you, I’m your guy. My adoption fee is $450..

Adopting a dog with children in Celina

Bring the whole family to meet the dog before you adopt, and ask the rescue how the dog behaves around children your kids' ages.

Teach children to let the dog come to them, to stroke gently, and to leave the dog alone while it's eating or sleeping. Give the dog a bed or crate of their own to retreat to, and always supervise young children with a new dog.

Relaxed adult dogs are often a better match for young children than puppies, which jump up, nip and chew while they learn.
