1. Nya

Adult · Female · Shepherd / Mixed

Meet Nya, a 2.5-year-old sweetheart who is goofy, gentle, and happiest when she gets to be part of whatever her people are doing. She was found as a stray and landed at Dallas Animal Services before being given a second chance in foster care. Since then, Nya has shown just how adaptable and affectionate she is. She does well with kids and other dogs, though she tends to prefer hanging out with her humans or doing her own thing rather than constantly playing.

Read more about Nya

Nya has a great balance of energy and downtime. She enjoys daily walks, sniffing around the neighborhood, chasing balls, and working on training, but she is also perfectly happy to nap while you work and curl up on the couch afterward. She is potty trained, has done well loose in the home, and knows several commands including sit, stay, down, shake, and place.

At home, Nya is an affectionate shadow with a silly streak. She loves treats, squeaky toys, cuddling, and keeping watch out the window for anything worth reporting. She is also an adventurous explorer, so a securely fenced yard is important, and small critters like squirrels, rabbits, and cats are definitely tempting. If you are looking for a sweet, playful dog who can join you for adventures and then happily settle in for a lazy evening, Nya may be your perfect match.

All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. 4. Billie Jean

Young · Female · Bluetick Coonhound

Meet Billie Jean, a 1-year-old Blue Tick Coonhound mix who is playful, goofy, and always ready to be part of the action. She loves walks, treats, toys, and making the rounds to check in on all of her neighborhood friends. Billie does well with kids, cats, and other dogs, and especially enjoys having a playful canine buddy who can match her energy. She can be a little shy with new people or unfamiliar places, but once she warms up, she is incredibly sweet and affectionate.

Read more about Billie Jean

Billie is high-energy, treat-motivated, leash trained, and potty trained. She would happily walk the same two blocks all day if you let her, and she loves playing with other dogs. She does best with dogs who enjoy her lanky, enthusiastic play style and is very respectful when another animal gives her a correction. Billie would likely thrive in a home with another larger dog to help show her the ropes. She does have separation anxiety and can be quite vocal when left alone, so a home without shared walls would be ideal.

Billie came into care underweight and scared, and while she has made great progress, she will need a patient family willing to help her continue building confidence and security. She is also heartworm positive and has already completed the first half of treatment. Her future family will need to help her finish treatment with veterinary guidance, which is included in her adoption fee. If you are looking for a loyal shadow with velvet ears, a big personality, and a whole lot of love to give, Billie Jean may be your girl.

Meet Winky, a playful, loving 1-year-old girl with striking two-colored eyes, beautiful dappled markings, and a wonderfully silly personality.

Winky is a social butterfly who does well with dogs of all sizes, cats with a proper introduction, and children. She loves long walks, running, sniffing around the yard, playing chase, tug, and carrying around stuffed toys. She is potty trained, leash trained, treat motivated, and still working on keeping her excitement in check during play.

Read more about Winky

After the fun is over, Winky is more than happy to curl up on the couch with her people. She is equal parts cuddler and loyal shadow, and she has even been known to sleep so deeply that she rolls right off the couch!

Winky can be a little nervous in unfamiliar or overwhelming environments, so she'll do best with a family willing to give her time to settle in and build confidence. In return, you'll get a goofy, affectionate adventure buddy who is always ready to play, explore, and snuggle.

7. Wilson

Adult · Male · Yellow Labrador Retriever / Great Pyrenees / Mixed

Meet Wilson: a sweet soul looking for a little patience and a whole lot of love!

Wilson is an adult lab mix with a gentle heart. He's sharing his foster home with four other dogs and a 5-year-old boy, and he gets along wonderfully with everyone. His sweet, submissive nature makes him easy to root for, and even easier to love.

Wilson is still learning that a leash doesn't have to be scary. With support from his foster family and a trainer, he's working through that fear and building confidence. He's looking for a patient family who will continue that work, celebrate his progress, and let him learn at his own pace.

Read more about Wilson

A home with a securely fenced yard would be the best fit, giving Wilson room to enjoy being a dog while keeping everyday leash pressure low as he learns.

Wilson is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heart worm negative. All he's missing is a family to call his own.

If you have a little patience, a yard, and room in your heart for a sweet boy finding his courage, Wilson would love to meet you.

8. Petey

Senior · Male · Terrier

Meet Petey, a 5-year-old gentle giant who is happiest simply being close to his people. Petey is loving, affectionate, and incredibly easy to bond with. His love language is absolutely "your shadow," and if you are nearby, that is exactly where he wants to be. He is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and currently lives with two small dogs who he loves to play with. In his previous home, he also lived successfully with five cats, and he does well with kids too.

Read more about Petey

Petey has a nice balance of playful energy and calm downtime. He enjoys gentle wrestling, chasing around the yard, going for walks, chewing on bones or toys, and joining in whenever another dog wants to play. Once the fun is over, he settles easily and is perfectly happy lounging on his mat as long as his family is nearby. He is inquisitive, loves a new adventure, and seems to feel most secure when he knows he is part of the action.

Petey's story has had some unexpected turns. He was once scheduled for euthanasia at Dallas Animal Services before being adopted, but when his previous owner later lost his housing and could no longer care for him, Petey once again found himself needing a safe place to land. Through it all, he has remained an incredibly gentle, loving dog who bonds easily with both people and other pets.

His ideal home would include plenty of companionship, room to play, regular walks, lots of snuggle time, and possibly another dog or two to share life with. If you are looking for a sweet, social dog who wants nothing more than to love his family and be included in everything, Petey may be your perfect match.

9. Fletcher

Adult · Male · Doberman Pinscher / Mixed

Meet Fletcher, a 3-year-old big goofy lovebug who is equal parts playful, loyal, and snuggly. Fletcher was found abandoned at Lake Cliff Park, where he walked right up to his finder and her Labradors, started playing, and then happily followed them home. He has been charming everyone ever since.

Read more about Fletcher

Fletcher is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and great with both dogs and kids. He loves people and wants to be wherever his family is. He is always up for a walk, a game of ball, or some backyard zoomies, but he also knows how to settle down and enjoy a good nap or cuddle session. His favorite things include treats, chew toys, antlers, and especially stuffed toys, which he loves to carry around and snuggle with.

His perfect day starts with a morning walk and breakfast, followed by some serious nap time. He is happy to head outside around lunch, enjoys a bigger afternoon walk, and then settles in for dinner and more snuggles before sleeping in his crate at night. Fletcher is not over-the-top high energy, but he definitely has a silly side and can get wonderfully goofy when playtime starts.

More than anything, Fletcher is just a genuinely sweet dog. He has done beautifully with every person and dog he has met and bonds closely with his people. If you are looking for a loyal companion who can make you laugh, join you on adventures, and then curl up beside you at the end of the day, Fletcher may be your guy.

10. Yuki

Puppy · Female · Hound / Mixed

Still a youngster, Yuki has a mix of basic skills she's tackled, and a few more she will learn with the support of a loving and dedicated family. She's been with both adults and kids, and she's adapted well to the routine of having to take care of business on a schedule.

Partly due to her young age, she gets excited while on walks and when around other dogs. She's getting better with a guiding hand on the other end of her leash who wants to help her become her best self. Yuki wants to be a wonderful companion for a family who enjoys daily walks, whether around her neighborhood or out in the big, beautiful world.

Read more about Yuki

Playtime also matters to her. Squeaky toys and bouncy balls are Yuki favorites and she'll even play by herself for a while. But when her people walk in the door, she's there to welcome them home. It's like she's already a member of the family.

14. Ophelia

Senior · Female · Pekingese / Mixed

Meet Ophelia: One-Eyed, Opinionated & Officially Retired

At 9 years young, Ophelia has entered her retirement era - and frankly, she thinks she's earned it.

This charming Pekingese mix is looking for a home where the schedule is flexible, the laps are plentiful, and no one expects her to participate in unnecessary nonsense. Ophelia enjoys relaxing, being adored, and sharing her opinions when she feels they are relevant. (Spoiler: she generally feels they are relevant.)

Read more about Ophelia

Ophelia is an independent woman who knows what she wants. She doesn't need constant attention, but when she decides it's time for affection, she makes an excellent lap dog. Her ideal family will understand that sometimes a lady just needs a little space to herself - and sometimes she needs your entire lap immediately.

Yes, Ophelia only has one eye, but don't worry: she can still spot foolishness from across the room. We think it simply adds to her distinguished, slightly mysterious charm.

Like many sophisticated ladies of a certain age, Ophelia takes a few daily medications to keep her feeling her best. She considers them part of her wellness routine and would appreciate a personal assistant willing to keep up with her regimen.

If your idea of the perfect companion is a low-key senior lady with a big personality, an independent streak, and excellent lap-dog potential, Ophelia may be ready to grace your home with her presence.

Ophelia isn't looking for someone to change her. She's looking for someone who appreciates the masterpiece she already is.

15. Mighty Max

Adult · Male · Labrador Retriever

Hello world, my name is Mighty Max, and I am ready to find my forever family! I am a quintessential Lab with a heart of gold, a tail that never stops wagging, and a deep appreciation for a good game of fetch.

I am fully house-trained, crate-trained, and working hard on my best manners. Whether we're going for a morning walk, playing fetch, or just snoozing next to you while you work, I am happiest right by your side. I get along great with other dogs and love meeting new human friends!

Read more about Mighty Max

At just 2 years old, I am a big, strong, energetic guy with plenty of youthful Lab enthusiasm! A fenced backyard where I can run and play would be ideal, but it isn't a requirement. I could also be a great fit for an active family who has a plan to make sure I get plenty of exercise, playtime, and opportunities to burn off my energy.

Because I am a big guy who can still be pretty bouncy and enthusiastic, I would likely do best with older kids who are comfortable around a large, playful dog. I have lots of love to give, I just don't always realize quite how big I am!

If you're looking for a loyal, loving shadow who will play hard, nap by your side, and greet you with pure joy every single time you walk through the door, look no further. Mighty Max might just be your guy!

16. Remi

Senior · Female · Terrier

Meet Remi, a 9-year-old sweetheart who somehow manages to be calm, goofy, gentle, and full of joy all at once. Her foster family describes her as truly "the sweetest dog," and it is easy to see why. Remi loves being around her people, meeting new friends, lounging nearby while you go about your day, and soaking up the sunshine. When she comes back inside nice and warm from sunbathing, her foster family lovingly calls her their "baked potato."

Read more about Remi

Remi is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and rides well in the car. She does wonderfully with kids, including toddlers, and is gentle, polite, and never pushy. She also does well with other dogs, especially calm dogs her size or smaller, and after a little time to warm up, she is happy to play and share toys. Cats are still an unknown. Indoors, Remi is quiet and easygoing. She rarely barks, settles into household routines easily, and is perfectly happy napping in whatever room her people are in. At night, she likes sleeping nearby on her big fluffy dog bed, complete with the occasional snore and little dream "woofs."

Don't let her age fool you, because Remi is still active, healthy, and always up for a walk, some yard time, or a new adventure. She is also a major treat fan and performs an adorable little "dinner dance" when mealtime rolls around.

Remi's story almost ended far too soon when she landed on the euthanasia list at Dallas Animal Services. Her foster family saw her profile, said "absolutely not," and brought her home. Since then, she has shown them just how special she is. Loving, joyful, goofy, polite, and endlessly sweet, Remi is the kind of dog whose smile and helicopter tail can brighten an entire room.

Her foster family jokes that she does not have a "you're in trouble" full name. Instead, she has a "you are being ridiculously precious" name: "Remitha Marie". If you are looking for a gentle companion who wants to be your shadow, soak up the sun, and love your family with her whole heart, Remi may be exactly who you have been waiting for.

17. Layla

Senior · Female · Terrier

Meet Layla, an 11-year-old sweetheart who has been through more change than any senior dog should have to face, yet somehow remains gentle, loving, and completely open to everyone she meets. After her owner passed away, Layla and her two brothers were surrendered to a shelter. Her brothers were adopted, leaving Layla behind until a volunteer met her, fell in love, and made sure she had a safe place to land with Dallas Pets Alive.

Read more about Layla

Layla is truly an easygoing girl. She is potty trained, walks beautifully on leash, loves car rides, and enjoys a leisurely stroll of about a mile before settling in for one of her many naps. She is wonderful with people, has done great with children and dogs of all sizes, and even calmly walks away when another dog is less than friendly. Her previous notes recommend a home without cats. Layla may also be experiencing some hearing loss, but she takes it all in stride. She does not enjoy being crated, though she does wonderfully free roaming or relaxing in a bedroom while her people are away.

More than anything, Layla wants to be close to her people. She is a professional shadow with a velvet-soft coat, a gentle spirit, and just enough playful energy left for toys and the occasional burst of silliness between naps. After losing her person, her home, and her canine brothers, Layla deserves to spend the rest of her golden years knowing she is home for good.

19. Liberty

Young · Female · Shepherd / Mixed

Take a moment before you jump right in - that's Liberty's approach to new situations. She likes to stand back and watch other dogs and cats before she jumps into the mix. When she does, she fits into the group and finds her place in the playtime activities.

Liberty - also known as Libby - enjoys being outside, especially in a yard where she is safe to run around and play. She could use a little more practice on her leash, too. She hasn't needed a crate yet in her foster home and she takes direction well. Okay, maybe she gets a tiny bit distracted, but she is still a puppy and learning fast.

20. Bambi

Adult · Female · Terrier

Meet Bambi - Your New Best Friend!

Bambi is a 4-year-old sweetheart looking for the loving home she deserves. She came to the shelter weighing just 20 pounds, and while we may never know her whole story, we know this girl deserves a future filled with kindness, comfort, and love.

Bambi is incredibly sweet, loves to cuddle, and is happiest when she gets to spend time with her people. She enjoys chew sticks, tasty treats, and plenty of playtime! She's an active girl who would make a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys walks, adventures, and keeping life fun.

Read more about Bambi

Bambi currently lives with four cats and desperately wants to play with them! Since not every cat appreciates her enthusiasm, she may do best in a cat-free home or with confident, dog-savvy cats. Because she gets excited and jumps, a home without small children would likely be the best fit.

Bambi has so much love to give and is ready for someone to show her just how wonderful life can be. Could you be the person who gives this sweet girl her happily ever after?

22. Dobby

Puppy · Female · Terrier / Mixed

Dobby was spotted running around White Rock Lake with her brother, When her now foster approached, Dobby ran right up to say hello, happily accepted being picked up and immediately rolled over for belly rubs. That sweet, trusting personality has been shining ever since!

At just 4 months old, Dobby has already mastered the art of being someone's shadow. If you're sitting on the couch, she's climbing into your lap. Watching TV? She'd prefer to be curled up on your chest. Working at your desk? She'll happily squeeze onto your chair! She's a professional cuddler with a playful side, enjoying zoomies around the house, toys and plenty of puppy naps.

Read more about Dobby

Don't let her small size and sweet personality fool you, though! Dobby has a little feisty streak and isn't afraid to stand her ground when her bigger brother tries to steal her toys. She's great with kids and is slowly building confidence around other dogs, often rolling onto her back or lying beside them as she gets comfortable. She's also crate trained, doing well on a leash and making great progress with potty training. She even sleeps through the night!

Dobby would love a home where she can enjoy daily walks, plenty of playtime and, most importantly, lots of affection. She's happiest when she's close to her people and would make a wonderful companion for someone excited to help a loving, playful puppy continue to grow.

29. Eva

Adult · Female · Chihuahua

EVA is as sweet as they come. It's obvious that in her previous eight years of life, she was deeply loved. If you let her, she would happily stay in your lap all day long. The moment you stand up, she's right by your side, wondering where "we" are going next. I've tried sneaking off the couch while she's napping nearby, but she catches me every single time!

Read more about Eva

Don't let EVA's age give you the wrong impression of her. Since settling in with her foster family, she has become a full speed 8-year-old puppy! She loves playing with her three siblings, running around after her human, and going on walks although she tends to walk behind her foster mom, which makes things a little awkward. She's still learning that walk time is also potty time as well. We're making progress every day. EVA warms up to other dogs quickly. She can be a little snippy at first, but within a 1-2 days, she is comfortable. Shortly after that, she's ready to be best friends and play all day long. If there are multiple dogs in the home, she'll be quick to remind you that there are never enough hands for all the pets she deserves!

She loves the sound of the treat bag opening, but she doesn't seem nearly as excited about the treats themselves. I'm still on the hunt for the special treat that will truly win her over.
She is always wanting to go out the door with you and rides very well in the car. She is also a good girl to take shopping with you and stays properly in the cart. She loves the attention she gets from everyone though.

More than anything, EVA wants to be close to her people and soak up all the love she can get. She's a devoted, affectionate, sweet-natured 5lb companion with a big heart, and she's ready to play, get lots of love, and stick by your side through thick and thin.

31. Dalton

Adult · Male · Pit Bull Terrier

Dalton is a bouncy, playful, and silly boy who doesn't let the fact that he is blind stop the pure JOY with which he meets every day!

Dalton is a moderate energy, leash, and potty trained pupper who loves nothing more than a walk or a sniff around the yard and a big SPLOOT in the sun. He loves his indestructible chew toys and loves to devour bully sticks!

He is friendly to strangers providing they give him a little space to come to them and the limited interactions he has had with other dogs have all been positive.

He is a total love bug who will follow you around and more often than not head butt your shins if he isn't quite sure where you are or if he feels your attention might be elsewhere. He loves to roll in the grass or sit in your lap for all the scritches.

Being blind, he does thrive on structure and patience and would do best in a home with a yard where he could familarize himself with his surroundings and safely enjoy outdoor time.

He does require daily eyedrops for glaucoma treatment but he is reasonably cooperative when getting them. He really loves Kraft cheese slices, so he can be bribed!

37. Harriet

Adult · Female · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed

Harriet's foster wasn't planning to bring her home but after spending the day with her at QuakeCon, she couldn't stop thinking about her. Even in the middle of a busy convention, Harriet was friendly, relaxed and completely unfazed by all the activity around her. When her foster learned that Harriet's adoption application from the event hadn't worked out, she knew she had to foster her herself.

Read more about Harriet

At home, Harriet is a peaceful companion and goofy sidekick. She starts her mornings with a big stretch and some couch cuddles, then happily settles in to observe the household or relax in her beloved crate. When her people come home, she celebrates with happy dances, bouncy circles and a little wrestling before climbing onto the couch for some serious snuggling. She loves bones, stuffed toys she can dismantle and anything involving peanut butter.

Harriet is potty and crate trained, good with other dogs and working on her leash skills and basic commands. She enjoys her walks, gets excited when she spots a potential dog friend and is very food motivated, which makes training especially fun. She's also full of little quirks that make her hard not to love: goofy wide eyes, a huge smile, a graceful newborn-deer prance and a habit of sitting with her front paws perfectly crossed like a proper lady. She's remarkably quiet and loves ending her day curled up in a pile of blankets.

If you're looking for a sweet, bubbly companion who can make you laugh, cuddle up on the couch and then happily enjoy some downtime of her own, Harriet would love to meet you!

38. Greta

Senior · Female · Terrier

Greta's a grand ol' gal who enjoys a calm day today, tomorrow, and for years to come. This ten-year-old lady enjoys dogs, cats, and kids who are equally relaxed. She'll play with her ball in the yard, which will be followed by a fabulous nap.

In her history, Greta developed a taste for food - any food, every food - and is notorious for sneaking into cabinets and cans to get her paws on some. She's good in her crate and it's a smart place to keep Greta out of her mischievous ways when she's home alone. Softer foods may be best for her senior teeth.

Read more about Greta

Greta's vision is limited so being close to her family keeps her calm and feeling safe. Her bright smile every morning brightens her home as much as the rising sun. During her sunset years, having a cozy, calm, and caring home will bring her as much joy as she'll bring you.

39. Janet

Senior · Female · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed

At 12 years young, Janet has perfected the art of the good life: slow sniffy walks, cozy beds, and staying as close to her favorite human as physically possible.

Janet is a calm, gentle senior girl who loves everyone she meets. She's good with dogs, pretty much ignores cats, and is great with kids. She's potty trained, crate trained, walks beautifully on leash, and has absolutely no interest in making life complicated. Toys? Eh. A cheeseburger? Maybe. Curling up in bed with you and following you from room to room? Now we're talking.

Read more about Janet

Janet was once sitting in a shelter with no interest and at the top of the euthanasia list. Thankfully, her foster saw that sweet face and knew she still had so much life and love left to give. She arrived nervous and unsure, but watching her learn to trust again has been pretty special. Now she sleeps in her foster's bed, curls up in their lap, and happily follows them everywhere.

Janet doesn't need much from her forever home. Give her a comfy place to sleep, a leisurely sniff walk, plenty of cuddles, and a human to call her own. She'll take care of the rest by being your sweetest little shadow.

Adult · Female · Husky / Mixed

Meet Indy, a two-year-old sweetheart who is equal parts playful, affectionate, and incredibly smart. She is food motivated and learns fast, picking up sit, down, and roll over in a single hour. She walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, is crate trained and potty trained, and has done great with other dogs. She is also very tolerant of handling and has shown no reaction to having her paws, ears, chest, mouth, or tail touched.

Read more about Indy

Indy has plenty of athletic energy and would thrive with someone who enjoys an active dog. She loves to run, jump, chase, and play, and she has some serious hops, so an agility-loving home could be a lot of fun for her. She does use her mouth during play, but has not bitten down, and she can get pretty enthusiastic when playing with other dogs. Once playtime is over, though, she is all about her people. She loves belly rubs, couch cuddles, and will happily nudge her head under your hand if she decides she is overdue for affection.

More than anything, Indy wants to bond closely with her person. She is curious, resilient, and very people-focused, and she settles nicely into a home routine.
