1. Josie

Puppy · Female · Chihuahua / Pug (short coat)

Welcome Josie to CCPAL Rescue. Josie is a Chug (Chihuahua/Pug) puppy. She weighs 4 pounds and is 9 weeks old. She will be a small dog full grown. She should be 12 pounds or less. She is very sweet and has an adorable rounded head. She likes to be held, is good in a crate, goes on a wee pad and loves to play with toys. She was born at the Rescue. They took in a stray female and she was pregnant. This means the puppies get lots of attention and are very used to being in a loud and rowdy environment. Josie would be best in a home that the person doesn’t work all day every day. She needs to finish up her puppy training. Social pups make great adults and now is the time for her to spend time with her family and to go places and let people pet her. She is an AMAZING puppy. She would be fine with children. Due to her small size, we would like children to be 8 or older. She is getting her puppy vaccines and will have 3. She will then be ready for spay and adoption. She can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

He looks like Bonnie but he is a little taller and has down ears. He has a little longer legs and body. He is good in a crate, likes to be held. He is learning the wee pad and gets toys and treats from our adopters. He will get grooming and nail trims at the rescue so he will be fine with that. He would be a great dog for a lover of this breed. A smaller yard would be fine. He would be fine in a doggy daycare as he is very social. He was found as a stray. He is getting neutered and all his vaccinations at the Rescue. He is ready for his forever home. He would be best in a home with someone that doesn’t work all day everyday as he will need to finish up his puppy training. He would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. May is a very loving girl and just wants to jump up and give kisses. We're working diligently on not jumping. She's very smart and seems to have potty training down and has not had an accident inside while I've had her. That being said, I do have a doggie door so she can let herself out, but I'm confident she will learn quickly to ask to go out, especially if she as an older dog to show her the ropes. She likes her crate, and will put herself in the crate to nap. I have it in my bedroom and she has not cried at night at all. She sleeps 8 hours without incident. Leash training is a work in progress, but with continued training she will catch on fast.

Foster Profile: Rascal was understandably a little unsure when she arrived to DGS. She needed an extensive dental procedure to extract 4 teeth that had become unviable due to an old fractured jaw. Our vet believes she had blunt force trauma to the jaw but she has taken it all in stride, offering nothing but affection to everyone she's met. She's social, not dominant, and playful with other dogs. She loves to play with Philo who came from the same property. She has taken fantastically to crate training and has no observed resource guarding tendencies. We will share more info about her as we continue to get to know her.

25. Harper

Young (4 months 13 days) · Female · Chihuahua / Mixed

Meet Harper! This 4 month old chihuahua mix is such a fun and affectionate girl. She
loves to play tug of war with her foster mom, but also plays really well with toys on her own. She’s really snuggly too. She has been exploring the outside world from the comfort of her puppy stroller as she isn't fully vaccinated yet - s
he is very curious about everything, but busy streets still seem a little bit overwhelming. She takes a minute to warm up to new people, but once she knows you, she is your absolute best friend.

Harper has received her first round of puppy vaccines and dewormer, is microchipped, and will be spayed as part of her adoption agreement when she is around 6 months. Her adoption fee is $525.

26. Hootie

Adult (7 years) · Male · Corgi / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Hootie!

Sweet Hootie is around 7 years old and about 30 lbs. He is a little on the plump side and could lose a few pounds but we don't judge... We're not sure of his breed mix but he has a Corgi look to him. Super cute!

Hootie is a very sweet boy. He loves other dogs, is great with kids and good with cats. An allrounder! He walks nicely on a leash and does well in the car. His only fault is that he is a velcro dog - he likes to follow you around the house so be prepared for some prying eyes when you're in the bathroom.

Hootie will be vaccinated, neutered and chipped. His adoption fee is $450

27. Chance

Adult (3 years) · Male · Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Chance

Chance is a 3-year-old, 65-pound pitbull mix who's part cow, part puppy, and entirely goofy.

He was found as a stray and ended up in an overcrowded California shelter. He's found a soft place to land in his foster home in Snohomish, WA, where he's living with two other dogs. He's also being exposed to farm animals, and the many smells and sounds that life out of the shelter has to offer.

Read more about Chance

This guy is pure joy! He's confident, loves people and other dogs, and he greets every day like it's the best one yet. He's a puppy in a grown-up body, with medium energy, plenty of silliness, a stunning black-and-white coat, and soulful eyes that will melt you on the spot.

Chance is crate trained and sleeps through the night without a peep. He's working on his house manners and on keeping his excitement in check, but he's smart, eager to please, and a quick, willing learner.

Because of his size and enthusiasm, a home without young children would be the best fit, ideally one that will include him in adventures, daily enrichment, consistency, and training. We don't yet know how he feels about cats.

Chance is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption fee is $450

Sid is a playful, affectionate pup with lots of love to give! He is around one year old and around 17 lbs. He gets along well with other dogs and people, and he’s quick to form bonds with new humans. Adopting a dog in Island County

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
