Abby is a sweet senior Mastiff/Hound/Lab mix with a big personality, a lot to say, and more pep in her step than you might expect! This girl hasn’t let her age slow her down, and she’s always ready to make her presence known. If you appreciate a dog who isn’t afraid to speak her mind, Abby might be your kind of girl!

Could you be the person who gives Abby her happy ending? After a lifetime of knowing what it means to have a home, she’s ready to find that feeling again. ❤️

17. Bennie
Meet Bennie!
Professional Snuggler • Treat Enthusiast • Zoomie Champion
Name: Bennie (aka Benji, Bennie Boo, Bennie Boy)
Age: Approximately 3.5 months
Size: 13 pounds of puppy sweetness and still growing!
Activity Level: Moderate! I love a good nap, snuggle session, and occasional burst of puppy zoomies. Play hard, nap harder!
Favorite Activities: Snuggling, sunbathing, exploring, chasing kiddos, hunting for treats, and taking very important naps!
Read more about Bennie
Things I Know: I’m a smart little cookie, especially when food is involved! I’m learning to sit, wait patiently for meals, and go to the door when I need to potty. I’m making great progress with potty training and my kennel routine, with just a few puppy oopsies along the way!
Things I’m Learning: The world can be a little scary! I’m practicing leash walking, building confidence, and learning that loud noises, barking dogs, and even the wind aren’t so frightening. A little reassurance (and a treat!) goes a long way.
Kids: LOVE them! Running, chasing, playing, giving kisses, and snuggling are my specialties!
Dogs: I do well with dogs of all sizes! I currently live with two large senior dogs and know when to give them space. Loud barking can still startle me, though!
Cats: Unknown, but slow introductions would be best.
Car Rides: I’m a good passenger! New places can make me nervous, so I appreciate having my humans nearby.
Bennie is a sweet, silly, affectionate little guy who’s slowly coming out of his shell! He’s incredibly food motivated (he already knows where the treat pantry is), eager to learn, and happiest when he’s close to his people.
He’s a sensitive soul who seeks comfort when something startles him, but his confidence grows a little more every day!
His favorite thing? SNUGGLING! He loves tucking his head between your collarbone and jaw and falling asleep as close as possible. Talk about a heart-melter!
Bennie does well in his kennel during the day, sleeps soundly with his foster family at night, and continues to make great progress with potty training.
His perfect home? A loving, patient family ready to help him build confidence, continue training, and enjoy endless cuddles. Adopter needs to have a solid training plan.
If you’re looking for a sweet, playful, treat-loving little shadow with a heart of gold, Bennie Boo might just be your boy!

20. Walter Blackwell
About MeMeet Walter, a dog with a heart as big as his love for snuggles. Walter is the perfect mix of playful and mellow—he’s always up for a walk or a romp outside, but just as happy to curl up on a pile of pillows and nap by your side.Walter is leash trained and potty trained. He’s respectful of items that are not toys—but he does love his chew toys! He’s a friendly guy who gets along well with other dogs (he would also do fine as a solo dog). He has not been around children and would probably do best with older, considerate kids. His future family should not have cats or smaller dogs. Walter loves people and bonds quickly, often becoming your loyal shadow around the house.Having spent some time in impound, Walter is still working through a bit of anxiety about being left alone.

How to adopt from The Rescue Crew, Inc
Adoption applications must be completed, which include information regarding references and vet clinic information, DL #, names, etc. Reference checks are conducted and when necessary vetting information verified. Discussion about the animal interested in to best assure appropriate and proper placement is made, and educational information regarding how to manage a multi-dog/animal household, slow and proper introductions and the importance of a shut-down period to help the animal acclimate to new surroundings. A "meet and greet" with the animal is required and whenever possible all residents of the household should be present. Home checks may, but not always, be necessary. After adoption applications is approved a contract is required, where we also stipulate that if for any reason the adopter determines they no longer want or can care for the animal we require it be returned to us, with the exception of documented bite history or potentially dangerous or dangerous dog designations. Adoption fees vary, but are comparable to or less than other local rescues and typically are $300 or less for a canine and $150 for a feline.

Adopting a dog in Balsam Lake
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
