Moose was seized in a cruelty case; we do not know the story, but he has been the best boy since getting with us. He had about given up, but once he knew he was safe and cared for, he really excelled; he even gets the zoomies; he is so happy. Moose gets along with the other dogs in his foster home, all sizes and ages, but is especially fond of the smaller dogs. He does not live with cats but was fine with the ones he has been exposed to.Moose loves attention and meeting new friends. He likes to go for rides and is great on a leash, sowith a little help getting in a vehicle, he would be a great travel companion.

Moose was a senior when we got him and had not been neutered, so while he is house- and crate-trained, he needs to go out when he asks, or he can not wait long. He is very good about letting his foster mom know when he has to go out.Moose is a typical, laid-back Great Dane, gentle giant, and total love bug. He would be a greataddition to any kind of home, and if you would love to give a senior boy a great forever homeMoose could be the boy for you.He is fully vetted - neutered, current with vaccines, microchipped, and has been treated forheartworms. 2. Sydney
Young · Female · English Bulldog / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed

Sydney is a total love bug, happy, outgoing, and just wants to be with her human(s) as much as possible. She is still a young girl with lots of puppy attitude, so she is fairly high-energy and determined to learn as much as she can about how to be a very good girl. She lives with lots of other dogs and gets along with most everyone, any age or size. She has been very good around cats although she does not live with them.Sydney is house- and crate-trained, although she must go out on a regular basis; she will use a potty pad if she has to be alone for a long period. Even though she is a counter surfer, she does not destroy her finds; she likes to lie on whatever she can pull down.

She is good on a leash and loves to go for rides; she loves meeting new friends, so she would be a great go-everywhere girl.We really could not decide what breeds made up this beautiful girl; the shelter we pulled her from said she was an English Bulldog mix, and that much is probably true. As to the rest, we would love to know. She had to have her tail amputated; most of it was ingrown, and the rest was blocking her ability to potty. She was heartworm positive and has been treated for that also. She is now fully vetted - spayed, current with vaccines, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.
3. Pepper
Adult · Female · American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed

I'm Pepper. My rescuers say I am the sweetest dog. They say I must have been on my own for a while, starved for attention, but now I am a big love sponge.I love learning new things and staying close to my peoples and my rescue family. For the first day or so, I would not let them out of my sight, but now I hang out with the other kids when they are busy, and I am ready if something needs my attention. I am a pretty good judge of that, if I do say so myself.Still learning to be a family dog, but I am liking what I'm experiencing so far. I think my favorite new thing is snuggling close to my person. Next would be wrestling with my brother Wolfie.Want a dog that can melt your heart with her soulful eyes? Then I am your girl.

5. Leroy
Young · Male · Anatolian Shepherd

Leroy is a big, handsome Anatolian Shepherd and Great Pyrenees mix who was born November 24, 2025. He weighs about 85 pounds and has a beautiful long coat of brown, tan, black, and white.Leroy was just a puppy when his rescue angel found him sitting in the middle of the road waiting for someone to save him. He was the only puppy in his foster home, but that didn't stop him from quickly befriending all the adult dogs. Leroy still thinks he runs the place. He loves to play with dogs of every size and is surprisingly gentle with the little ones, even though he is now a big boy who can easily keep up with the larger dogs.Leroy is happiest at home with his people and his dog friends.

He appears to be house trained and has done very well in his foster home.Leroy is not a fan of leashes or car rides, so he is looking for a family that wants a stay-at-home companion rather than a frequent travel partner. 6. Prince
Adult · Male · Collie / Shepherd / Mixed

This handsome boy needs a very special person in his life, as he struggles to trust many humans. Prince might like someone immediately, but it is rare. He is an outgoing and fun dog once he chooses to trust someone; otherwise, he makes it clear that he prefers to be left alone. 7. Princess
Senior · Female · Shepherd / Mixed

Hi, I’m Princess... I was seized from Collin County as an animal cruelty case with demodex mange that was so bad I had no fur. I’d been thrown out in the back yard and just left until I was skin and bones. My fur has grown back in thanks to my angels and All Heart Veterinary Clinic and Hillcrest. I’m a shepherd mix, weigh about 30 pounds and my approximate date of birth is 2/17/15. I’m timid when I meet new people. I have great house manners and play well with others although the best fit for me would probably be in a home as an only dog. I do bark for attention and am a little neurotic so I’m going to need a special person to love me and work with me.
Read more about Princess
My world has been scary but I know now there are good people out there. I’m still very young, have a long life ahead of me and I especially have a lot of love to give! Will you be my next angel? Princess is up to date on all vaccines, microchipped, spayed and on heart worm and flea/tick preventatives. The first step in our adoption process for this sweet, timid little girl is to submit your application which is available online at hillcrestanimalrescue.org. Once you are there, click on ADOPT and scroll down to our Application.
8. Racine
Adult · Female · German Shepherd Dog / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed

Racine had her DNA tested, and the results revealed that she is 60 percent American Staffordshire Terrier, 22 percent German Shepherd, 15 percent American Pit Bull Terrier, and 3 percent Bulldog. This would explain her high energy level and intensity. She is very intelligent and would love the job of protecting your family and doing whatever you ask of her.She came into rescue when her previous family decided to euthanize her when she was nine months old instead of training. After getting her as a puppy, they did nothing to help her learn to be a good family member. Luckily, the vet they took her to realized she was not the problem and had a lot of potential.
Read more about Racine
We sent her to training, and now she is ready to be part of a family where she can fully devote herself.Racine is good on a leash, loves going for rides, and has the energy to keep up with any activity her humans might enjoy. She gets along with other dogs and would do great having fur friends to play with. She is too much for cats and probably small dogs, although she does live with small dogs in her foster home, she is not unattended around them. She would do best in a home without small children for the same reason, just too high of an energy level, and theywould ramp each other up.She is house and crate trained, although she has a stay-at-home family, so she goes outside several times a day, and someone is always available to let her out. Racine is fully vetted, current on vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and on flea and tick, as well as heartworm, prevention.

9. Rosie
Adult · Female · Shepherd / Belgian Shepherd Malinois / Mixed

Meet Rosie!Rosie is a beautiful black mixed-breed girl with a distinctive white blaze on her chest and a heart full of love waiting to be shared. She and her brother Sam were rescued from a convenience store in Frisco about three years ago. Sam has since found his forever home, and now it is time for Rosie to find hers.At first, Rosie can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once she warms up, her sweet and loyal nature shines through. She has blossomed in our care, transforming from a quiet observer into a loving companion who now seeks out head rubs and enjoys being close to her person.

Rosie will even nudge her way through the other dogs to get the affection she has come to love!Rosie is alert and makes an excellent little 'doorbell' - she will let you know if someone knocks or if there is a strange noise outside. She is also athletic and, once bonded, would likely love to go anywhere her person goes. At about 40 pounds, she is a great medium size for adventures or snuggles on the couch. We believe Rosie may have mostly Belgian Shepherd Malinois in her, but whatever her mix, she is 100% devoted companion material. If you are looking for a loyal, loving friend who will bloom with patience and affection, Rosie could be the perfect match.

10. Ruby Monday
Senior · Female · American Bulldog / Mixed

Ruby Monday is a total love bug who was unfortunately dumped at a high-kill shelter when her previous family moved without her. She lives with many other dogs in her foster home and gets along well with everyone, except when someone gets into an altercation. She thinks she is supposed to end all spats, so we never leave her with the other dogs unattended. For this reason, she would do better in a home as an only furkid or with an experienced owner.Ruby loves humans of all sizes and ages. She is a cuddlebug who loves to go for car rides and walks. It is hard to believe she's a senior with her energy and happy, outgoing nature.

It would be wonderful for any senior who wants a dog to spend retirement with them, and still give anyone who might want to cause trouble a reason to think twice because of her size and bark. She is fully vetted, current with her vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and on flea and tick, as well as heartworm, prevention. Ruby is available for permanent foster care if you live within a reasonable distance of our veterinary clinic. If you are hoping for a companion but are on a limited budget and feel you can not afford to take care of a dog, we would love to help you give Ruby a wonderful forever home.

Trip loves all humans he meets and would be a great addition to any home looking for a playful, outgoing dog. 15. Amos
Adult · Male · Husky

Amos got to us after he had to go from the animal shelter to the vet clinic for an amputation. We don’t know why his front left leg was so damaged. We do know that the night of his surgery he managed to rip out all of his stitches and laid his head on the vet tech’s shoulder while getting wrapped for repair surgery the next morning. He is not quite a typical Husky as he’s very laid back. He doesn’t use his voice near as often as most Huskies although he does have a little growl in his conversational voice which isn’t nearly as off-putting as it might sound.Amos has great house manners, does fine on a leash, and would be a perfect go-everywhere boy for his family.

He’s fine with cats and seems to ignore the livestock kids at his foster home.He is very engaged with his humans and loves to be as close when he doesn’t want to spend time watching the world go by from his perch on the porch. 16. Archer
Adult · Male · Pointer / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed

Archer came to our rescue after being picked up as a stray. He doesn’t know his front ankles aren’t ‘normal’ as he gets around just fine. This condition is Angular Limb Disorder and attempting surgeries to resolve could make his situation worse. While he wouldn’t be a great running companion he still loves going for walks and short jogs. Long or strenuous walks could make him sore, so his family would want to avoid that as he would go if asked. This handsome boy is a happy, outgoing, gentle soul. He loves humans of all sizes and ages. Being with his humans and getting attention is his very favorite thing.

He lives with lots of other dogs and is fine with everyone unless they are nasty to him; he won’t be bullied by anyone. He is good around the cats in his foster home who are very dog savvy. Archer has excellent house manners and is crate trained. He is engaged with his humans and treat motivated so would do well with training. He already has great recall and will sit for treats. He loves going for rides and would be a great go-everywhere dog. Archer is fully vetted – current vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

18. Cash
Adult · Male · German Shepherd Dog

Cash came to the rescue when the shelter sent him to have his fractured leg amputated at our vet clinic. He had been shot, and we have no idea of the other abuse he had suffered, but he is initially afraid of new men (fine once he learns they mean him no harm). While he is not an aggressive boy, he acts as if he could tear into someone, which can be off-putting. He is fine with women, loving, outgoing, and cuddly, especially with his foster mom. We are helping him work onhis fear, which can/will be resolved with patience and TLC.Cash lives with lots of other dogs and gets along with everyone, large and small.

He tends to have the calming influence of a Lab on a household. He should not be put into a household with another alpha male dog. He is protective of his family and home and would be great for a family looking for a dog for safety reasons. Dougie will make a fantastic dog for any family. He is housetrained and fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and is on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. His vet records will be turned over to his adoptive parent(s). This poor guy has been through so much, yet he still retains the devotion and desire to please that his breed is known for.He is so enthusiastic about finally having humans who are kind and loving towards him, and a chance for a great doggie life. We are working on helping him rein in his excitement a bit and stop jumping up on humans. Once he learns this, he will excel around children and the elderly, as he genuinely loves everyone. This handsome guy is happy and outgoing, walks well on a leash, and loves going for a ride, so would love to be your go everywhere possible boy.Dozer has other dogs in his foster home, but he lacks social skills with dogs, so he should be the only dog in his forever home or have an experienced owner to help him continue developing these skills.

24. Orphan Annie
Adult · Female · Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler

We call her Orphan Annie since we found her abandoned on a hiking trail. Sort of amazing now that we have gotten to know her and that she stayed in one place long enough to be rescued.Annie is probably a Stubby Tail Cattle Dog, very much an Australian Cattle Dog with an emphasis on being active and engaged. Annie is typical of the herding breed, meant to nip at others to direct where to go. For this reason, she would not be good in a home with young children and is the kind of girl who needs a job.Annie loves being active and into everything. She usually has two speeds, sleeping, and full blast; unless she is one-on-one with her human when she is totally engaged.
