1. Buster
Puppy (8 months) · Male · Dachshund / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 93 mi from Tucson

MEET BUSTER!!! Buster is still a very young puppy, close to a year old. He has puppy energy and puppy playfulness. As such, he will do best in a highly active home and with a family familiar with continuing regular puppy training skills. He is smart and learns quickly, he's already housebroken and crate trained, AND knows how to use the doggy door.
Buster loves other dogs and would REALLY MOST LIKE another super playful dog to play with! He's great with all people, and absolutely adores kids. A home with children would be ideal for him.
Read more about Buster
He is a good leash walker and a decent car rider! He's still learning basic obedience commands so he will need to have continuing puppy obedience.
Buster is goofy and funny and LOVES belly rubs. He is a great "people" dog, and is happiest cuddling with you on the couch.

3. Mira
Adult (1 year 1 month) · Female · Dachshund / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 85 mi from Tucson

DOLLY & MIRA — TWO LITTLE HEARTS WAITING TO FEEL SAFE
Some dogs know what it feels like to have a home, but they’ve never truly experienced what it means to be loved. Dolly and Mira are two of those little souls.
These beautiful sisters were part of a group of three puppies, but one of their sisters was given away. Dolly and Mira had an owner from the time they were puppies, yet they didn't receive the attention, time, socialization, and training they needed to grow into confident, secure dogs.
Read more about Mira
Born in September 2025, these little girls are still so young. They should be experiencing the world with confidence, learning new things, playing, and feeling safe in the arms of the people who love them. Instead, they're now learning that the world doesn't have to be so scary.
Dolly and Mira are in a new foster home, and right now, they're frightened and unsure of their surroundings. But slowly, little by little, they're beginning to relax. They're starting to realize that life can be different — that gentle hands, kind voices, patience, and love are possible. ❤️
They're learning the basics, including potty training and adjusting to crate training. They still have a lot to learn, and they'll need a family who understands that progress may take time. There may be setbacks, nervous moments, and days when they need extra reassurance.
But please don't overlook them because they're scared.
These girls aren't broken. They aren't bad dogs. They're simply learning things that should have been taught to them from the beginning. They need someone willing to see their potential rather than their fears.
Meet Dolly & Mira
❤️ Born September 2025
Chiweenies (Dachshund/Chihuahua mixes)
Learning potty training and crate training
Looking for a patient, loving family committed to helping them build confidence
We would love for these sisters to find a home together, if possible. After losing the third member of their little trio and going through so many changes, there is something special about the comfort they may find in one another. Separate homes may also be considered if the right families come along.
Dolly and Mira don't need someone to make them perfect overnight. They need someone who will celebrate the little victories — the first time they approach without fear, the first time they settle comfortably in their crate, and the first time they truly believe they're home.
Please be the person who shows them that they were always worth the time, the effort, and the love. ❤️
Ready to give Dolly or Mira the fresh start they deserve? Submit an adoption application at https://backthebluepetrescue.org/
Approved applicants can arrange a meet-and-greet, followed by a home check.
Please SHARE. Their forever family may be the one person willing to look past their fear and see the sweet little dogs they are becoming.

MEET Luna#15!!
Luna is a beautiful, sweet, loyal Husky who has spent her entire life devoted to her family. Now, through no fault of her own, she is looking for a loving forever home where she can enjoy her golden years feeling safe, settled, and deeply loved.
Read more about Luna
Luna was rescued from a backyard breeder in 2021 and has been a cherished member of her family ever since. She has experienced quite a few changes over the years, including multiple moves, living in an RV, a new baby, and a difficult divorce, yet she has continued to be an incredibly loving and loyal companion. Her family has worked hard with her, including completing PetSmart's beginner, intermediate, and advanced training classes.
Luna's personality
Luna is sweet, gentle, affectionate, playful, funny, and incredibly loyal. Despite being a Husky, she is surprisingly calm and relaxed inside the home. Her favorite things include sunbathing, going for walks, napping near her people, and simply being close to her family.
She is house-trained, crate-trained, leash-trained, and sleeps peacefully through the night. She is also not destructive and does not typically chew furniture or household items. She can comfortably stay home while her family is away and settles nicely once everyone leaves.
Luna loves other dogs and enjoys playing at the dog park. A calm, friendly canine companion could be wonderful for her, especially because Luna is also a big fan of relaxing and taking naps with her dog friends.
Luna does become anxious in doggy daycare and is not a good candidate for that environment due to a previous traumatic experience with another dog. She is happiest having a predictable routine and relaxing at home with her people.
Kids, cats & other animals
Luna can tolerate children but would ideally do best in a home without young children or with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to interact respectfully with a dog.
She does well with cats and knows how to play appropriately with them. However, Luna does have a prey drive, so she should not live with small or exotic animals.
Luna's ideal home
Luna is looking for someone who understands and appreciates Huskies and preferably has experience with Huskies or other large dogs. She needs a stable, loving home where her person will be committed to her for the rest of her life.
She does not need constant entertainment. A daily morning walk, regular opportunities to get out and explore, and plenty of time relaxing with her people have been a great routine for her.
Luna does have ongoing medical needs and requires a limited-ingredient diet and daily medication. More information about her medical care will be provided to serious potential adopters.
More than just a pet
Luna has been so much more than a dog to her family. For the past three years, she has served as a seizure-alert service dog and has alerted her person to multiple seizures. She has also helped her family through difficult moments, including assisting her owner's mother after she broke her wrist.
She and her family have truly been there for one another, and finding her the right home is incredibly important. Her family is heartbroken to say goodbye, but wants to make sure Luna has the stable, comfortable life she deserves rather than putting her in a shelter.
This will not be a quick or first-come, first-served adoption. Luna's family would like to meet potential adopters and have two or three meetings so everyone can get to know one another and make sure it is the right fit. A rehoming fee will apply.
Luna is currently in Phoenix, Arizona.
If you or someone you personally know and trust may be the perfect match for Luna, please send a message. Her family is happy to answer questions, provide additional photos and videos, and arrange a meet-and-greet.

MEET BUTTER!!!
Butter is a sweet, loving girl with ears as big as her personality! Her ears have changed about four times, but it looks like they may finally be staying upright, and they make her even more adorable. This playful little firecracker loves running around the yard and convincing her siblings to chase her while she tries her best not to get caught. Butter plays well with other dogs and has also done great with the two cats in her foster home. She has met many new people and happily welcomes their attention.
Read more about Butter
Butter is an adventurous eater who loves trying new foods, even plain spinach! She would make the perfect little kitchen taste-tester. She also enjoys car rides, especially when the destination is Starbucks for a pup cup! Butter has done an amazing job with both crate training and potty training and understands the commands for each. Like any puppy, she has plenty of energy and may occasionally try to chew something she shouldn’t, but she is learning and doing very well. MEET MILO #8!!
Read more about Milo
Milo is a very energetic boy who craves constant play time and attention. He's a bit high strung and tends to bark and whine if he hears something outside. He can be shy when it comes to affection. He just won't give it all of the time, but he won't refuse any hugs or kisses either. Milo is very social. Every time he sees someone new, he has to go and meet them. He will holler, bark, and pant, but it's not because he wants to attack. He just really wants to say Hello. And he loves other dogs, especially getting to play with them. He also loves doing tuggies with people. Although Milo loves to go for walks, he gets nervous when the leash comes out. You need to know the command to get him to stop, otherwise he will pull you down the stairs. He knows so many tricks, but he is not a fan of doing them unless he really wants the treat.
Milo has had a difficult medical history of late. He's had valley fever, recently broke his leg, and has something growing in his belly. These things have caused him some pain, and he has lashed out at times. His owner believes the right person can help him get better and live the rest of his years enjoying life. Meet Milo today!

20. Mani
Adult (3 years 2 months) · Male · Chinese Shar-Pei · 6 mi from Tucson

❤️ Meet Mani! The Labrador Who Took a Wrong Turn and Became a Shar-Pei!
We have a mystery on our hands. We’re pretty sure someone put a Labrador’s personality into a Shar-Pei body and sent us Mani. And honestly? We’re not complaining!
Mani is a 3-year-old professional people-lover who has never met a stranger. If you’ve met him, you’re his best friend. If you haven’t met him yet, just give him about 3 seconds. He’s already decided you’re family.
Read more about Mani
Kids? Fantastic! Other people? His favorite! Cats? Apparently, they’re just furry cuddle buddies. Personal boundaries aren’t really Mani’s strong suit. If you have a lap, a hand for petting, or a heartbeat, he’s interested.
This boy LOVES life. Bones, toys, snuggles, adventures, attention… Mani is basically a walking, wrinkly celebration of existence. He’s goofy, affectionate, endlessly happy, and always ready to participate in whatever you’re doing. He’s the kind of dog who thinks every car ride is an exciting vacation and every visitor is a long-lost relative.
But here’s the part we just don’t understand…
MANI HAS BEEN WAITING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME SINCE JULY!

MEET MAGGIE!!!
Read more about Maggie
Maggie is a fun-loving, intelligent pup with a larger-than-life personality and an endless passion for playtime. If there's a ball nearby, Maggie is ready for action! She loves keeping her people entertained and would happily spend her day chasing toys, solving puzzles, and engaging in interactive games. This smart girl learns quickly and enjoys using her brain as much as her energy. Her problem-solving skills are impressive, and she's even figured out how to escape standard wire kennels. Because of her clever and determined nature, Maggie does best with a secure, indestructible kennel and plenty of opportunities for mental enrichment. Puzzle toys, treat games, and interactive activities are some of her favorites. When playtime is over, Maggie transforms into a world-class cuddle bug. She loves being close to her people, whether she's curling up beside you, sneaking in as the little spoon at bedtime, or melting into your lap. Her affectionate nature makes her an exceptional companion. Maggie also enjoys playing with other social dogs and thrives in active environments where she can make friends and burn off energy. While she does well with other dogs and loves playing with others, she does best eating her meals separated from others. Like many herding breeds, she can sometimes become overly enthusiastic, but with proper training, guidance, and continued socialization, she channels that energy beautifully. If you're looking for a smart, active, affectionate dog who will keep you laughing, thinking, and snuggling, Maggie may be the perfect match for your family.

MEET SOKKA #2!!
Read more about Sokka
Meet Sokka, a handsome 5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog weighing about 45 pounds who is ready to find an active home of his own! This intelligent, affectionate boy is leash trained, crate trained, rides beautifully in the car, and loves nothing more than a good game of fetch. Tennis balls don't stand a chance, stuffed toys quickly lose their squeakers, and you'll often find Sokka patiently waiting by the toy cabinet, hoping it's time to play. When playtime is over, he transforms into a total cuddle bug who loves butt scratches, resting his head in your lap, and staying close to his favorite people—he truly is the definition of a velcro dog. Sokka is highly intelligent, knows his basic commands along with cues like "place," "quiet," and "backup," and is eager to learn, although he occasionally shows the classic independent streak that Australian Cattle Dogs are known for. He enjoys adventures, car rides, and is very food motivated, making training fun and rewarding. Sokka gets along well with cats and has successfully lived with a friendly female dog as well as a younger 70-pound male Heeler, though he can be more selective with some male dogs and generally prefers doing his own thing rather than playing with other dogs. He does best with calm introductions and dogs that respect his space. Sokka is a loving, loyal, playful companion who thrives with his people and deserves a home where he can relax, be himself, and enjoy the active life he loves. Complete an application and meet Sokka!

28. Cosmo
Puppy (8 months) · Female · Boxer / Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 93 mi from Tucson

MEET COSMO!!!
Read more about Cosmo
Cosmo is the sweetest, happiest little bundle of wiggles you'll ever meet! This playful pup loves people and is always ready to join in on the fun. She is great with kids and incredibly interactive. She's often the life of the party, turning playtime with her foster siblings into full-blown puppy parties. When she's not busy entertaining her friends, Cosmo can usually be found happily chewing on her favorite toys, soaking up belly rubs, or curling up for cozy lap snuggles. She has a loving, affectionate personality and is always ready to share her joy with the people she loves. Cosmo does have a strong personality when it comes to other female dogs. Because of this, her adopters will need to be thoughtful about dog introductions and interactions, and she may do best as the only female dog in the home or with carefully selected canine companions. This is an important part of getting to know Cosmo, but it doesn't take away from what a wonderful, affectionate, and fun-loving dog she is with her people. One thing you'll never have to worry about is Cosmo's appetite! She absolutely loves mealtime and, the moment breakfast is finished, she's convinced she's ready for seconds... and thirds. Her enthusiasm for food is matched only by her enthusiasm for life. If you're looking for a social, playful, and incredibly affectionate companion who will keep you smiling every day, Cosmo may be the perfect addition to your family. With the right home and thoughtful management around other dogs, this lovable girl has so much happiness and affection to give.

MEET CRICKET #4!!
Read more about Cricket
Cricket is a driven, loving boy who truly thrives on connection with his people. He's incredibly sweet, eager to please, very affectionate, and incredibly silly. He loves to cuddle and be lazy just as much as he loves to work. Cricket is smart, enjoys learning new things, and has completed a full four week board and train. He behaves well in public settings, is non-reactive, and is generally friendly with people, occasionally benefiting from a slightly longer introduction but that is rare. He does well with other dogs and absolutely loves to play and can be a rough and tumble kind of player, so he would pair best with a dog who enjoys that same energy or a calm dog he can coexist with. Cricket does have some resource guarding tendencies with high value items, such as special treats or bone and around thresholds like gates and doors. With clear structure and consistent boundaries in the home, he does very well and would thrive with a confident, structured owner who understands leadership and is willing to maintain the rules he has been taught. Overall, Cricket is a wonderful dog with so much heart and potential and in the right home, he will be an incredibly loyal, fun, and devoted companion.

Bringing a dog home to your cat
Tell the rescue about your cat: their age and how they react to dogs. A dog who has lived calmly with one cat may still want to chase a cat that runs.
Introduce them slowly. Keep them apart for the first few days and swap bedding so they get used to each other's scent, then let them meet with the dog on a leash, rewarding calm behavior.
Make sure the cat can always get somewhere the dog can't reach, like a high shelf or a room behind a baby gate, and keep the litter box and cat food out of the dog's way.
