MEET DUDLEY #2!!

Read more about Dudley

Dudley is a sweet, affectionate, and very playful boy with a lot of personality and energy. He loves attention, playing with his toys, being outside, going for walks, and especially playing with other dogs. He really loves having someone to play with. He can be pretty enthusiastic during playtime, so another playful dog who can match his energy would be a great match. He is good with adults and elementary aged children on a leash, but he has not been testing with children in a home. He is housetrained, uses a doggy door, and knows basic commands. He does fairly well on a leash, but he still pulls at times, especially when he's excited about going for a walk. He is a typical young Husky who is curious, energetic, and always looking for something to do.

Dudley has some separation anxiety, particularly when he is left alone crated. This is improving, and he has a prescription for trazodone to help when he needs to be crated for extended periods of time. He also has enamel hypoplasia which affects the enamel on his teeth. He received a dental treatment, including bonding, in August 2026. Dudley's current owner is unable to give him the exercise and attention he needs and is heartbroken to have to find him a new home. Dudley would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, plenty of exercise, attention, and companionship. A bonus would be a similarly energetic pet sibling too. Meet Dudley today!

2. Flaco

Adult (2 years) · Male · Belgian Shepherd Malinois (medium coat) · 85 mi from Tucson

Hi, I’m Flaco, and I’m looking for my forever home... again.

My name is Flaco, and I’m a handsome, approximately 2-year-old Belgian Malinois mix with a heart that’s every bit as big as my ears. Life hasn’t always gone exactly as planned for me, but I’m hoping my next chapter will be the one that lasts forever.

Read more about Flaco

Just over a year ago, my brother and I were found wandering the streets of Yuma as strays. Nobody came looking for us, and we weren’t sure what the future would hold. Thankfully, we were rescued by the wonderful people at Central Arizona Animal Rescue. They gave us safety, food, love, and a chance to find families of our own. Before long, both my brother and I were adopted, and it seemed like our happy ending had arrived.

Recently, though, I found myself back at the rescue.

My family welcomed a new baby, and as their lives became busier, they decided they no longer had enough time for me. While it was hard to lose my home, everyone at the rescue has reminded me that this isn't the end of my story. It’s simply a detour on the road to finding the family that’s truly meant for me.

If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I absolutely love people. Whether we're going for a walk, hanging out in the yard, watching television, or just relaxing together, I’m happiest when I’m near my humans. I’m not looking for anything extravagant. Honestly, I just want to be part of your life.

I also enjoy the company of other dogs. I get along well with little dogs and dogs my own size, and I love having canine friends to spend time with. If your home already has a dog looking for a buddy, there’s a good chance we could become best friends. As for cats, my rescue friends just haven’t had the opportunity to test me with them yet, so that remains a mystery.

I’m told I’m house-trained, which means I understand that outside is the place to take care of business. I also know some commands and have already learned some good manners. Like many young dogs, I would love continued training and guidance. The good news is that I’m smart and eager to learn.

Speaking of smart, let’s talk a little about my breed. Belgian Malinois are known for their intelligence, loyalty, athleticism, and strong bonds with their people. We are often chosen for police work, search-and-rescue, service work, and other demanding jobs because we love having a purpose and enjoy learning new things. While I certainly have that classic Malinois intelligence, I’m also an incredibly sweet and social guy who simply enjoys being around people and canine companions. I would thrive with an active family that can include me in daily adventures, give me exercise, and continue helping me be the very best dog I can be.

What I’m really searching for is someone who won’t see me as a temporary part of their life. I want a family that understands dogs are forever. A family that will celebrate the good times, help me through the challenges, and let me spend every day knowing I belong.

I’ve already been through being lost once. I’ve already experienced coming back to rescue through no fault of my own. Now I’m ready for the happy ending I’ve been dreaming about.

Could that happy ending be with you?

If you’re looking for a loyal companion, a smart and affectionate best friend, and a dog who is ready to shower you with love and gratitude, I’d love to meet you.

To schedule an appointment to meet me, please email Central Arizona Animal Rescue at mike@caaronline.org.

I’ll be waiting with a wagging tail, hopeful eyes, and my heart wide open for the family that finally says, “Flaco, you’re home.” ❤️

PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.

Young · Female · Rottweiler · 96 mi from Tucson

Meet Charolette! We just rescued this pretty little girl from the euthanasia list at Maricopa County Animal Care & Control. She was very scared in the shelter and needed out immediately. Thankfully a foster stepped up and she is sleeping soundly tonight. We don't know a lot of Charolette, but as she decompresses from her shelter stay and we learn more, we will update her profile. She will be going to board and train soon and we cannot wait to watch her flourish as her confidence grows! Check back soon for updates! 5. Gino

Adult · Male · Rottweiler · 96 mi from Tucson

Meet Gino!Gino is a big, goofy boy weighing in at 112 pounds! He wants nothing more than to nuzzle his face into your lap to receive all the pets and love you can give. His temperament is sweet and docile, and he is a smart boy with just a fun dash of classic Rottie stubbornness. We rescued Gino off the county shelter's euthanasia list on 10/20/26. He was placed on the list because when he became overstimulated from excitement or petting, he would mount his handler. Knowing what a sweet soul he is, we were so excited when a proffessional trainer offered to foster and train him! She is working with Gino to curb this behavior and help him become the absolute best version of himself.

When we picked him up, he had a case of kennel cough, which is now almost fully resolved, as well as some nosebleeds. We have already taken him to our vet and are actively working toward getting him back into tip-top shape! 6. Zeke

Young · Male · Rottweiler · 96 mi from Tucson

Meet Zeke! Our Newest Rotten Rottie!Zeke is an absolutely stunning young male Rottweiler. He was found as a stray and brought to Maricopa County Animal Care & Control, where he ultimately ended up on the euthanasia list. While at the shelter, he was friendly with staff and caused no issues. Even the veterinary team was able to handle him easily. If you’ve ever owned a Rottweiler, you know the vet can be a challenging environment for them. The reason he was placed on the euthanasia list was due to dog reactivity reported in the shelter lobby, as well as his finder mentioning that he reacted to other people and dogs while on leash.

Read more about Zeke

This type of behavior is common to the breed and in high-stress shelter environments. With consistency and proper training, it can be managed or overcome. When I met Zeke, I didn't see any reactivity at all. I took him out of his kennel, walked him into a play yard, and navigated past other dogs. He even sat calmly outside his kennel while we readjusted his leash with other dogs barking just a few feet away, and he didn't react. He stayed focused on me and sat patiently. However, just because I didn't witness reactivity during our initial meeting doesn't mean it never occurs. Once we get to know Zeke better and observe him across different settings, we’ll have a clearer picture of what support and environment he needs to succeed.Regardless of why he was on the euthanasia list, after meeting Zeke and seeing what a wonderful dog he is, we knew we had to save him. We don't know his exact age, but he appears to be between 1 and 2 years old. So far what we have seen from Zeke is a smart, even-tempered, affectionate, and gentle boy.As we spend more time learning his personality, likes, and dislikes, we will update his profile. At this time, we do not know how he does with other dogs, small animals, or children, but we will try to test him in as many different environments as is safe and appropriate. In addition, Zeke will be heading to training with Amanda at Paw Creek Training next week! Amanda will determine how he does with other dogs, correct any behavioral concerns she finds, and teach him all his basic obedience. We can't wait to watch Zeke become the best version of himself! We truly believe Zeke is going to make an amazing companion, and we look forward to helping him build the life he has always deserved! If you are interested in meeting Zeke or any of our adoptable dogs, please visit our website at http://www.rottenrottie.com and complete our adoption questionnaire.Adoption Process:If you are interested in adopting one of our fun-loving, "not-so-rotten" Rotties, you will be asked to fill out our adoption application which allows us to get to know you better. MEET ZEUS #18!!

Read more about Zeus

Zeus is a medium-high energy boy who loves to plat fetch and tug-of-war. Then, he turns into a cuddle bug with his person. He does not show toy or food aggression. He is housetrained, crate trained and doggy door trained. He can be trusted alone at home (doesn't chew anything up). His only mischief is stealing food off the counter. Although he is crate trained, he does get anxious in it. He does well outside in his dog house or just chilling in the home. Zeus walks beautifully on a leash and is muzzle-trained for public. He bonds hard once you are his person--you will be his whole world. He is deeply loyal, protective, and affectionate with his people. He just needs slow introductions to build that trust.

He needs to be in an adult-only home with no other pets and a low-traffic household. When company comes over, he needs his own space to also build trust. His bite record is disclosed, and he needs an experienced owner who understands protective dogs and will keep his structure, boundaries, and muzzle use in public. There is a $50 rehoming fee. He is not a fit for a first-time dog owner or a busy household. However, he is truly a devoted companion in the right home. Meet Zeus today!

9. Porkchop

Young (7 months) · Male · Mastiff / Mixed (medium coat) · 85 mi from Tucson

“Hi, I’m Porkchop… and I’m Ready for My Real Forever Family.”

From the heart of Porkchop himself

Hi there. My name is Porkchop, and yes—I know it’s a funny name. Everyone laughs when they hear it, and honestly, I kind of like that. I’m an 8‑month‑old mastiff mix, which means I’m a big boy with an even bigger heart. I didn’t have the easiest start in life, but I’m hoping the next part of my story is the one where I finally find the family who sees me as perfect just the way I am.

Read more about Porkchop

I was rescued when I was about four months old, standing on the side of the road with my brother. Someone was giving away puppies like we were old furniture, and one of the volunteers from Central Arizona Animal Rescue saw us and knew we needed help. I had never been to a vet, never had any puppy shots, never had anyone making sure I was safe. But that changed fast. They scooped us up, brought us in, and gave us everything we needed—vaccinations, a microchip, and eventually I was neutered. For the first time, I felt like someone cared about me.

After a little while, I got adopted. I thought that was it—I thought I had found my forever home. But after a couple of months, they brought me back. They said I was “too big.” I didn’t understand. I didn’t do anything wrong. I just grew, the way puppies do. I tried to be good, but nobody taught me how. They didn’t work with me on leash manners, so yes… I pull when I walk. And sometimes I get excited and jump up because I want attention so badly. I’m not trying to be naughty—I just didn’t have anyone showing me the rules.

So here I am again, waiting. Hoping. I’m still the same sweet boy I was the day I left, just a little older and a lot more ready to learn. I need someone who will set boundaries, teach me gently, and help me understand how to be a polite, well‑mannered dog. I’m smart, I’m eager, and I really do want to make you proud. I just need a person who won’t give up on me.

My previous owners said I am house trained, which is a pretty great start. And I’m good with other dogs, too. I like having friends. I like being part of a group. I like feeling like I belong. I’m a big, strong puppy, but inside I’m just a soft, goofy boy who wants to be loved. I adore people. I lean in for pets, I wag my whole body, and I melt when someone scratches behind my ears. I’m happiest when I’m close to someone who cares.

If you’re looking for a dog who will grow into a loyal, loving companion… someone who will follow you around, keep you company, and make you laugh with his silly mastiff expressions… I might be your guy. I’m still learning, but I promise I’m worth the effort. I’ll give you everything I have—my trust, my affection, my big goofy smile—if you give me a chance.

If you’d like to meet me, the rescue says you can email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’ll be waiting, hoping the next person who comes to see me is the one who finally says, “Porkchop, you’re home.”

Love, Porkchop

11. Duchess

Adult · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Mixed · 16 mi from Tucson

Say hello to the sweetest Duchess! This beautiful 9-year-old Shepherd mix is looking for her forever home.

Duchess previously lived with a Husky, and I think having a canine companion could be a great fit for her. She’s currently living with a small, opinionated senior dog and is doing great.

Like many Shepherds, Duchess has some hip issues and takes a few medications to help keep her comfortable and moving well. As a foster, her medications and food are also covered. She doesn’t let her discomfort stop her from being a sweet, loving Shepherd.

Read more about Duchess

And one important thing to know about Duchess: she loves to howl sometimes. So apartment living probably isn’t going to be her thing, unless you and your neighbors really enjoy Shepherd concerts.

Duchess is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $275, with an additional $21 for PACC licensing.

If you’re looking for a sweet, older girl who deserves a soft place to land, Duchess would love to meet you. If you’re interested in fostering this special girl, please fill out a foster application at www.tucsoncoldwetnoses.com

Adult (1 year 7 months) · Male · German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (medium coat) · 85 mi from Tucson

“Hi, I’m Crews… and I’ve been waiting for my person.”

From the heart of Crews himself

Hi there. My name is Crews, and if you’ve got a minute, I’d really like to tell you my story. I’m a German Shepherd mix, mostly shepherd through and through—smart, loyal, eager, and full of heart. I’m about a year and a half old, still young enough to be playful and goofy, but old enough to know that what I want most in the world is a person of my own.

Back in July, I was picked up as a stray. I didn’t know where I was supposed to go or who I belonged to. I kept hoping someone would come for me, someone who recognized me and called my name. But the days passed, then the weeks, and nobody ever showed up. I stayed at the pound all the way until September, watching other dogs leave with their families while I waited and wondered if anyone even remembered me.

Then something changed. One of the staff members there saw something in me—maybe my big shepherd eyes, maybe the way I pressed myself against the kennel door hoping for attention—and they reached out to Central Arizona Animal Rescue. They said I deserved a chance. And now I’m here, safe, cared for, and finally able to hope again.

I share my kennel with a female dog, and we get along just fine. I’m polite, friendly, and I don’t try to be the boss. But if I’m being honest… I’d rather be with people. I love people. I love attention. I love being close enough to lean into you and feel your hand on my head. Sometimes I get so excited that I forget my manners and try to jump up to get closer. I’m not trying to be rude—I just want to be loved. I’m learning, though. The humans here remind me that jumping isn’t polite unless I’m invited, and I’m getting better every day. I’m a shepherd, after all. We’re smart. We catch on quickly.

I’ve been neutered, I’m current on all my vaccinations, and I’ve been microchipped, so I’ll never be lost again. That part means a lot to me. After everything I’ve been through, knowing I’ll always be able to find my way home is a big comfort.

What I want now is simple: a family who sees me for who I am. I’m energetic, affectionate, and full of potential. I want someone who will help me finish learning my manners, someone who enjoys a dog who wants to be right by their side. I’d love walks, training sessions, car rides, yard time, or just hanging out while you do your thing. I don’t need perfection—I just need you.

If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you, who will try his hardest, who will grow into an incredible companion with just a little guidance, I think we might be a perfect match. I’ve waited a long time for someone to choose me. Maybe you’re the one I’ve been waiting for.

If you’d like to meet me, the rescue says you can email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’ll be here, tail wagging, hoping today is the day my forever person finally walks through the door.

Love, Crews

14. Taylon

Adult (2 years) · Male · Belgian Shepherd Malinois (medium coat) · 85 mi from Tucson

Meet Taylon: A Quiet Survivor Searching for a Patient Forever Home

Hello, my name is Taylon, and I'm a Belgian Malinois with a story that isn't easy to tell. I'm looking for a special person who understands that some dogs need a little extra time, a little extra patience, and a lot of understanding before they can fully trust again.

Like my brother Max, my life changed forever when our owner was unexpectedly deported. He wasn't able to tell anyone that my brother, our two sisters, and I were still living inside his trailer. We were left alone for more than a week without food or water, waiting for someone to come.

Read more about Taylon

Eventually, our owner was able to make a call and let someone know about us. When Animal Control finally arrived, it was too late for our two sisters. They didn't survive. Max and I were the only ones who made it out alive.

The experience left scars that aren't always easy to see.

When we were rescued and taken to safety, I was in terrible condition. I had spent so long fighting to survive that trusting people wasn't something that came naturally anymore. The world had shown me some hard lessons, and I became cautious about everyone around me.

Today, I'm healthy and safe, but I'm still learning that humans can be trusted.

I'm a bigger boy than my brother Max, and while he's become a fan of attention and belly rubs, I'm a little more reserved. I don't immediately seek out affection, and I'm not the kind of dog who wants constant petting from everyone I meet. In fact, I'm still figuring out how to be comfortable with physical affection at all. That's why I need someone who will allow me to move at my own pace and won't expect me to become a cuddly best friend overnight.

The people caring for me have seen how far I've come. They've watched me learn to relax, accept treats, enjoy routines, and slowly open up to the humans who have earned my trust. Every day I take another small step forward.

One thing I do know is that I love feeling safe.

Like Max, I haven't been tested with small dogs or cats, so we can't say for certain how I would react to them. Any introductions would need to be handled carefully and responsibly.

What I really need is someone who understands dogs like me. Someone who sees beyond my hesitation and understands that my caution isn't stubbornness or aggression. It's simply the result of surviving circumstances no dog should ever have to endure.

I may never be the dog that rushes up to strangers demanding attention. I may never be the life of the party. But for the person willing to invest the time and patience, I have something much more meaningful to offer: genuine trust that has been earned, not given away freely.

The day I choose you as my person will be a day you'll never forget.

I'm current on all of my vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. Physically, I'm ready for my forever home. Emotionally, I'm ready for someone who will continue helping me build confidence and discover what it truly means to be loved.

If you believe that every dog deserves a second chance, and if you have the patience to let a survivor blossom in his own time, I would love the opportunity to meet you.

Some dogs are easy from day one.

Dogs like me are worth the journey.

To schedule an appointment to meet Taylon, please email:
mike@caaronline.org

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I've survived heartbreak, loss, and uncertainty. Now I'm hoping to find the one thing I've never truly had:

A forever home.

Love,
Taylon

15. Max

Adult (2 years) · Male · Belgian Shepherd Malinois (medium coat) · 85 mi from Tucson

Meet Max: A Survivor Looking for His Forever Home

Hello, my name is Max, and I'm a handsome male Belgian Malinois looking for a second chance at the life every dog deserves. I may not come with a perfect past, but I come with a big heart, a resilient spirit, and a lot of love to give the right person.

My story didn't start out easy.

Read more about Max

I once lived in a trailer with my owner, my brother Taylon, and our two sisters. One day, our owner was unexpectedly picked up and deported. He wasn't given the opportunity to tell anyone that we were still inside the trailer. For more than a week, we were left alone without food or water, waiting for help that didn't come soon enough.

Eventually, our owner was able to make a phone call and let someone know about us. Animal Control was finally notified and came to rescue us. But by the time they arrived, our two sisters had already passed away. Only Taylon and I survived.

It's something no dog should ever have to go through.

When I was taken to the pound, I was in rough shape physically and emotionally. I had learned that the world could be scary, and I wasn't sure who I could trust. I became very suspicious of people, especially strangers. The humans caring for me now understood that healing takes time, patience, and kindness. They never gave up on me, and little by little I've started to learn that not every hand reaches out to hurt or abandon.

Today, I'm doing so much better.

Once I get to know you, I'm a sweet and affectionate guy. I absolutely love a good butt scratch and tummy rub from the people I trust. If you're looking for a dog who appreciates the simple things in life, you'll fit right in with me. Want to know the quickest way to become my friend? Bring a hot dog! I am a huge fan and will happily tell you all about it with my wagging tail.

I've also been sharing my kennel with a female German Shepherd, and we get along great. Having a canine companion around has helped me build confidence and reminds me that life can still be good. Because of my history, we aren't sure how I would do with small dogs or cats, so any introductions to other pets would need to be handled carefully and thoughtfully.

I've found that I tend to be more comfortable around men than women, although I continue to make progress every day. What I really need is someone who understands that trust is earned and that some of us survivors need a little extra time before we fully open our hearts.

The good news is that I'm ready for my next chapter. I'm current on all my vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. All the important vet work has been done. Now the only thing missing is a family of my own.

I dream about having a safe place to call home. A place where I never have to wonder where my next meal is coming from. A place where I can relax, enjoy belly rubs, chase toys, eat the occasional hot dog, and spend my days with someone who sees not just where I've been, but where I'm going.

I am not looking for pity. I am looking for a partner, a best friend, and a forever family.

If you think you might be that person, I would love the chance to meet you.

To schedule an appointment to meet Max, please email:
mike@caaronline.org

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I've survived the worst life had to throw at me. Now I'm hoping for the best.

Love,
Max

16. Alexander

Adult · Male · Rottweiler · 96 mi from Tucson

Purebred male 5 year old rottweiler. Meet Alexander. He is a purebred handsome boy who is about 5 years old. Like most Rottweilers, he does not trust all humans until they prove they are worthy. It's best to go slow and play hard to get with him. It's best that there are no children in his home. Once he trusts you, he is incredibly sweet, loves attention and wants nothing other then to hang out with his peeps. His original owner passed away and his owners wife was struggling to take care of him. He didn't get along with the other dog that lived in his home, and they sometimes had bad fights.

Read more about Alexander

He would do well as an only dog. We have rehomed Alex once and he was returned. The new owner brought in a new girl friend who got too comfortable with Alex too fast. He did end up biting her, and Alex was returned. He went and lived with our trainer for over a month. She tested him, and saw zero aggression from him. It's important to note that before he bit the girlfriend Alex lived with his new owner for 6 months and he never saw any aggression from him. Alex remained with him for 6 weeks after the bite, and during that time saw no aggression from him. Since we were not there when the bite happened and the previous owner did not witness it, we have very little information as to what could have triggered it. We believe that that girlfriend just went too fast with him and it scared him. He has been professionally trained and does very well when it comes to following commands. He is happy to show off his skills. If you are interested in adopting Alexander, please go to www.rottenrottie.com and fill out an adoption application. Our Adoption Process... If you are interested in adopting one of our fun loving not so rotten rotties, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire that will allows us to get to know you better and to make sure the dog you are looking at is a good fit for your family and lifestyle. You can access our questionnaire by going to our website, www.rottenrottie.com click on the forms tab, and fill out the questionnaire and submit it online. After we review your answers, if we feel that the dog that you are interested in, is not a good fit for you and your family, we may recommend a different rottweiler companion. After we determine which Rottweiler(s) is the best for you, we will set up a time so that you can meet him or her at their house, where they will feel most comfortable and act as they normally do. We will require a home check to make sure the dog is going to a good home. An adoption contract will be signed to finalize the adoption and we do ask for a rehoming fee of $500 for most adults, $350 for most of our seniors 6 years and above for any rottweiler mix of any age (except puppies) . Our fees for puppies fluctuate depending on how much we had to invest into them or their litter, and weather they are purebred or a mix. These funds are necessary so that our organization may continue to rehome rottweilers. ALL of our dogs are sterilized, fully vaccinated and microchipped, heartworm tested negative and come with a collar and a leash. We have also addressed any injury or illness that they had when they came to us, or received in foster care. These problems will be disclosed to the adopter prior to adoption.please be advised that in almost all cases we will not adopt our dogs to folks who live in different states. On rare occasion, if we feel that it is a PERFECT for both you and the dog, we sometimes will break that rule for our neighbors who live in Las Vegas. If you live in Vegas and would like us to consider you, please fill out an application.

MEET Luna#15!!

Luna is a beautiful, sweet, loyal Husky who has spent her entire life devoted to her family. Now, through no fault of her own, she is looking for a loving forever home where she can enjoy her golden years feeling safe, settled, and deeply loved.

Read more about Luna

Luna was rescued from a backyard breeder in 2021 and has been a cherished member of her family ever since. She has experienced quite a few changes over the years, including multiple moves, living in an RV, a new baby, and a difficult divorce, yet she has continued to be an incredibly loving and loyal companion. Her family has worked hard with her, including completing PetSmart's beginner, intermediate, and advanced training classes.

Luna's personality

Luna is sweet, gentle, affectionate, playful, funny, and incredibly loyal. Despite being a Husky, she is surprisingly calm and relaxed inside the home. Her favorite things include sunbathing, going for walks, napping near her people, and simply being close to her family.

She is house-trained, crate-trained, leash-trained, and sleeps peacefully through the night. She is also not destructive and does not typically chew furniture or household items. She can comfortably stay home while her family is away and settles nicely once everyone leaves.

Luna loves other dogs and enjoys playing at the dog park. A calm, friendly canine companion could be wonderful for her, especially because Luna is also a big fan of relaxing and taking naps with her dog friends.

Luna does become anxious in doggy daycare and is not a good candidate for that environment due to a previous traumatic experience with another dog. She is happiest having a predictable routine and relaxing at home with her people.

Kids, cats & other animals

Luna can tolerate children but would ideally do best in a home without young children or with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to interact respectfully with a dog.

She does well with cats and knows how to play appropriately with them. However, Luna does have a prey drive, so she should not live with small or exotic animals.

Luna's ideal home

Luna is looking for someone who understands and appreciates Huskies and preferably has experience with Huskies or other large dogs. She needs a stable, loving home where her person will be committed to her for the rest of her life.

She does not need constant entertainment. A daily morning walk, regular opportunities to get out and explore, and plenty of time relaxing with her people have been a great routine for her.

Luna does have ongoing medical needs and requires a limited-ingredient diet and daily medication. More information about her medical care will be provided to serious potential adopters.

More than just a pet

Luna has been so much more than a dog to her family. For the past three years, she has served as a seizure-alert service dog and has alerted her person to multiple seizures. She has also helped her family through difficult moments, including assisting her owner's mother after she broke her wrist.

She and her family have truly been there for one another, and finding her the right home is incredibly important. Her family is heartbroken to say goodbye, but wants to make sure Luna has the stable, comfortable life she deserves rather than putting her in a shelter.

This will not be a quick or first-come, first-served adoption. Luna's family would like to meet potential adopters and have two or three meetings so everyone can get to know one another and make sure it is the right fit. A rehoming fee will apply.

Luna is currently in Phoenix, Arizona.

If you or someone you personally know and trust may be the perfect match for Luna, please send a message. Her family is happy to answer questions, provide additional photos and videos, and arrange a meet-and-greet.

Puppy (8 months) · Female · Pit Bull Terrier / Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat) · 93 mi from Tucson

MEET MINA!!!

Mina is a sweet and loving 8-month-old puppy with so much affection to give! She loves sharing kisses, cuddling with her people, and following them around the house. When she gets especially excited to see someone, she may become a little jumpy, but she is still young and learning polite greetings.

Read more about Mina

Mina loves playing with other dogs and would likely enjoy having a canine companion in her new home. She enjoys toys, but soccer balls are her favorite! She will also fetch smaller toy balls and surprise you with random bursts of adorable zoomies. Mina appears to enjoy water, especially sprinklers and the hose, and may even discover that she likes swimming someday.

Mina spent much of her early life confined to a crate, so being crated is understandably difficult for her. She is now discovering how wonderful it is to explore, exercise, play, and simply enjoy being a puppy. Her future family should be prepared to patiently help her build confidence and create positive associations with being safely left alone. Mina deserves a loving home with the time, patience, and energy to help her continue learning and growing. In return, she will bring her family endless affection, joyful playtime, and plenty of puppy kisses!

MEET MAC — A EXTRA LARGE ROTTIE/DOBERMAN/MASTIFF MIXOn Monday, August 23, 2026, we officially welcomed a gigantic Rottweiler/Doberman mix named Mac into the rescue.Mac’s story actually starts with a neighbor in Kingman. The neighbor remembers when Mac first moved in next door. He was just a little puppy then, visible through the chain-link fence that separated their yards. For more than two years, he watched Mac live outside — through the coldest nights and the hottest Arizona days. Then one day, Mac’s family moved away. And they left Mac behind. They never came back. His neighbor couldn’t just watch him go hungry, so he started feeding Mac and giving him water over the fence.

Read more about Mac

For the next couple of months, that’s how Mac survived. Then one day, Animal Control arrived to remove him.Imagine being Mac. Strange people suddenly enter the only yard you’ve known, chasing you with a snare. When they finally got the cold steel loop around his neck and began restraining him, Mac panicked and fought desperately to get away. That reaction landed him on the euthanasia list. But his neighbor knew the dog on that list wasn’t the Mac he knew.He went to the shelter and asked if he could take Mac himself. At first, they told him no — Mac was considered too dangerous. So he showed them pictures of this supposedly “dangerous” dog kissing him through the fence. They changed their minds. He brought Mac home with the intention of finding him a good home, but every time someone showed interest, something didn’t feel right. He worried that some people wanted this enormous, intimidating-looking dog for all the wrong reasons. So he kept saying no.Unfortunately, his own dog didn’t like Mac and would attack him — and amazingly, Mac wouldn’t even fight back. After a couple of months, he called Rotten Rottie Rescue for help.We didn’t have room at the Ranch, so I called Amanda at Paw Creek Dog Training and asked if she could take him. She could — but we had to wait a couple of weeks for a spot to open.Monday was finally Mac’s day. His neighbor drove him all the way down from Kingman on Sunday, and Paul Davis drove him to Amanda Monday morning. And today, Amanda sent me our first official Mac PupDate:“Mac the Knife is doing really, really well! I worked him for the first time today — prong and e-collar right off the bat because he is TOO DAMN BIG. He was either trained before, or he is one of the easiest dogs to train, which is pretty common with Dobies.I was very careful the first couple of days mainly because of his size. If he was going to do anything, there wasn’t a whole lot I was going to be able to do. Thank God he is super, super sweet! Now, he WILL eat a kitty. And he is a giant, so he is going to need someone who wants to build a relationship with him. I would hate for anyone to get hurt in any way by him.”So there you have it.The enormous, “dangerous” dog who almost lost his life because he panicked when strangers tried to snare him turns out to be a super sweet, ridiculously trainable giant. Mac still has some work ahead of him, and his future home is going to need to understand that a dog this large and powerful requires structure, leadership and a real relationship with his person. One of the benefits of having Amanda train our dogs is that she will support the dog's future family with free training lessons so that you can continue to make Mac the best version of himself. You can take Mac to her place for as many free lessons as you would like, and she is always available by text or a phone call for any advice that you need. And definitely NO CATS. But Mac is alive today because one neighbor cared enough to feed a forgotten dog, fought for him when the shelter thought he was dangerous, protected him from people he didn’t trust, drove him hundreds of miles to us, and refused to give up until Mac was safe.Sometimes it really does take just one person to change a dog’s entire life.Welcome to Rotten Rottie Rescue, Mac. Puppy · Male · Rottweiler · 96 mi from Tucson

Meet Willy Willy is an adorable young Rottweiler who came to us from MCACC, and this sweet boy is ready to find his forever family! After rescuing Willie from the shelter, he went right into a foster home where we learned that Willy had all the typical puppy behaviors. He enjoyed being a little naughty, chewing on things he shouldn't, and had a bit of separation anxiety. Willy Approximately 6–10 months old Approximately 67 lbs and growing Dog friendly One-eyed and still ridiculously handsome Looking for his forever homeCould Willy be the missing piece of your family? Our Adoption Process... If you are interested in adopting one of our fun loving not so rotten rotties, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire that will allows us to get to know you better and to make sure the dog you are looking at is a good fit for your family and lifestyle. You can access our questionnaire by going to our website, www.rottenrottie.com click on the forms tab, fill out the questionnaire and submit it online. These problems will be disclosed to the adopter prior to adoption. Please be advised that in almost all cases we will not adopt our dogs to folks who live in different states. On rare occasion, if we feel that it is a PERFECT for both you and the dog, we sometimes will break that rule for our neighbors who live in Las Vegas. If you live in Vegas and would like us to consider you, please fill out an application.

MEET MOMMA DOG!!

Read more about Momma Dog

Momma Dog is an amazing, approximately 4-year-old girl who has been loved as part of a family for the past three years. She was originally rescued from MCACC while pregnant and went on to raise eight puppies in her foster home; two of her puppies and Momma herself ultimately became part of the family. She is now looking for a new home due to a significant change in her family’s living situation. Momma is extremely intelligent, eager to please, and learns quickly. She knows several commands, is crate trained, does well in the car, and enjoys toys and playtime. She is affectionate, gentle, even-tempered, and loves people, although she can be timid and shy at first. Once comfortable, her sweet and goofy personality shines through. Momma does best as the only pet in the home, as she is not comfortable with cats or other dogs. Her history with children is unknown, so a home with older children or adults may be the best fit. Momma is a wonderful companion who has so much love to give and is ready for a family who will give her the stability and affection she deserves. Complete an application and meet Momma!

Adopting a large dog in Tucson

Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.

Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
