Read more about Sippy Cup

Sippy Cup came to DPS from the shelter with her friends Pacifier and Blankie, and she has been pouring her whole heart into her foster family ever since. With soulful eyes and an impressive commitment to cuddling, this little lady believes affection should be served generously—with unlimited refills.

A Professional Snuggler

Sippy’s foster describes her as the most affectionate foster dog she’s had. Sippy seeks out people, loves interacting with them, and would happily spend a good portion of her day being held or tucked against someone she loves. When cuddling isn’t on the agenda, a cozy bed near your feet is an acceptable substitute.

She also believes praise is a communal resource. Call the resident dog, Remy? Sippy arrives. Tell Remy he’s a good dog? Sippy appears immediately to remind everyone that she, too, is an exceptionally good girl. Why risk missing an available compliment?

One evening, Sippy headed to the couch for the usual after-dinner snuggles, only to discover her foster was still sitting at the kitchen table. Her solution? Climb onto the occupied chair and curl into a little doughnut right behind her person. A slightly crowded seat is a small price to pay for togetherness.

A Little Play, a Lot of Lounging

Sippy has playful bursts of energy, but she’s also an accomplished nap enthusiast. Her mornings begin around 6:30–7:30 with a potty outing and a request for attention, followed by breakfast around 8:30–9. Then she settles into her bed under her foster’s desk, keeping her favorite human conveniently within reach.

A midday potty break, an afternoon snack and snuggle session, dinner around 5–6, and a short evening walk round out her day. She enjoys brief neighborhood outings, while new places bring out her enthusiastic sniffing side. Every interesting scent deserves an investigation—and possibly a tiny contribution of her own.

A practical tip from her foster: pack extra poop bags. Sippy likes to make the most of her bathroom walks, and one bag may be wildly optimistic.

Friends, Admirers, and Fellow Dogs

Sippy lives with another small dog and can share her home with a canine companion, although she certainly likes collecting the lion’s share of the attention. She has a confident streak and will let other dogs know when something isn’t to her liking. She could be happy as a solo dog or with a compatible canine friend.

During an introduction to a cat, Sippy offered a few curious air sniffs and then showed little interest. She generally loves people and enjoys children who approach her gently and affectionately. Calm introductions help her feel comfortable; she has shown some uncertainty toward approaching strangers in a dark, unfamiliar setting.

Learning the Ropes

Sippy is making progress with both housetraining and crate training. Regular outings and learning her signals—such as whining or heading toward the back door—have helped reduce accidents. She often needs a bathroom trip soon after meals, so a predictable routine will help her keep building good habits.

At bedtime, she tends to drift off on the couch or a dog bed before moving into her crate. She may protest initially, but generally settles within about 10–25 minutes once her bathroom needs are met. She occasionally alerts to unfamiliar sounds, especially at night, but her foster has not observed destructive chewing or digging.

Being apart from her people is still difficult for Sippy. She follows her foster from room to room, whines when she realizes she’s being left behind, and may wait where she last saw her person. A lick mat can help distract h

Pacifier: Professional Cuddler, Couch Supervisor & Side-Eye Specialist

Read more about Pacifier

Age: 2–3 years old
Weight: 20 lbs
Breed: Maltipoo
Coat: Nonshedding
Pacifier came to DPS from the shelter with his friends, and he’s ready to trade shelter life for a permanent spot beside his favorite person. This sweet Maltipoo has simple priorities: a comfortable couch, someone to cuddle, and a perch with a good view of the household. His contribution? Devoted companionship and some truly award-worthy skeptical side-eye.

A Little Shadow with a Big Heart

Pacifier likes his cuddles with a generous helping of physical contact. Beside you is good; touching you is better; slightly on top of you might be perfect. He’s curious about whatever his people are doing and will follow along or keep an attentive eye on their activities from his chosen lookout.

When he first arrived in foster care, Pacifier was a bit anxious and confused. Once he got to know the household, however, he settled in quickly and revealed his affectionate, easygoing personality. A little patience while he learns a new routine will help this loving boy feel at home.

King of the Couch

If your idea of a lovely afternoon involves relaxing together, Pacifier would like to submit his application to be your companion. He’s a lounger at heart, especially fond of finding the highest comfortable spot on the couch so he can supervise everything below.

His day starts around 7 a.m. with a trip outside, followed by breakfast. Then it’s time for the important business of lounging, observing, and collecting affection. Dinner is around 6 p.m., and he sleeps overnight in a crate in the family room.

Friends, Felines & Family

Pacifier has been very good with the cats in his foster home, mostly ignoring them with an occasional curious sniff. He loves the family’s teenagers and peacefully shares space with their large dog, although he hasn’t shown much interest in playing with her. His favorite social activity appears to be spending time with his humans.

Learning the Ropes

Pacifier walks fairly well on leash, though he sometimes pulls toward something he wants to investigate. His foster family hasn’t encountered other dogs on their walks, so his reactions to passing dogs are still unknown.

He’s making progress with housetraining but will need continued consistency and supervision.

His first night in foster care included plenty of barking when left alone, but he has made excellent progress. He now settles well in his crate overnight and when his family goes out, with just an occasional whine. Stressful transitions may temporarily make being alone harder for him, so a predictable routine will be helpful as he adjusts.

Pacifier hasn’t shown interest in chewing or digging. He occasionally barks when startled or joins in when the resident dog sounds the alarm, but he has become much more settled as he’s grown comfortable.

His Perfect Match

Pacifier would thrive with someone who enjoys a relaxed pace and plenty of affectionate togetherness. A quieter household, a cozy place to lounge, and people who appreciate a devoted little companion would suit him beautifully. He enjoys attention and companionship without needing a packed activity calendar.

If you’re looking for a loving, loyal couch companion who will keep you company—and occasionally question your decisions with one perfectly delivered sideways glance—Pacifier may be your boy.

Bixby: Little Legs, Big Zoomies, and a Love of Life!

Age: 2 years old
Weight: 10 lbs
Breed: Terrier mix

Read more about Bixby

Bixby is a little dog who finds big joy in the comforts of home. Rescued from a shelter, this scruffy fellow wasted no time discovering the good stuff: sunny lounging spots, entertaining toys, tasty meals, and a cozy bed with covers to burrow beneath. His enthusiasm is contagious, and his happy greetings make it very clear that seeing his favorite person is a highlight of his day.

A Little Play, a Little Lounge

Bixby’s daily schedule includes a couple of very important appointments with the zoomies. When the mood strikes, he grabs a toy, gives it an enthusiastic shake, tosses it into the air, and chases after it. He’s quite capable of providing his own entertainment—and yours.

Between these bursts of activity, he’s a champion lounger. The couch, a sunny patch of floor, his crate, and your bed all meet his standards for a comfortable resting place. He enjoys knowing where his person is without needing to follow every single step.

Bixby prefers affection on his own terms. He isn’t always comfortable being scooped up for a cuddle, but when you stretch out on the couch, he may climb onto your chest to say hello before settling beside you or near your feet. At bedtime, his softer side really shines: he loves burrowing under the covers and sleeping close.

A Day in Bixby’s World

Bixby typically starts his day around 8 a.m., although he’s happy to sleep in until his person is ready to get up. Breakfast is followed by a roughly 20-minute walk, then it’s time to relax and keep an eye on the household.

A short early-afternoon outing provides another potty break and a chance to explore. Dinner is around 6 p.m., followed by another brief walk. Add in some toy wrestling, a few zoomie laps, and an evening beside his person, and Bixby considers that a day well spent.

He’s comfortable using his crate and sometimes chooses to rest there on his own when he wants a quiet retreat. Overnight, his favorite arrangement has been sleeping in his foster’s bed, tucked beneath the blankets.

Home Alone and Household Skills

Bixby has become housetrained in his foster home after some initial accidents. Three daily walks have worked well for him, and his adopters should continue a consistent routine while he adjusts to a new environment.

He has also done well alone for four to five hours in his foster home, both with access to the home and during separate stays in his crate. His foster reports no destructive chewing or potty accidents during those absences. Although he was initially unsettled about being left, he became more comfortable after a few days.

Bixby has a low-shedding coat, with some loose hair that his foster finds manageable. He’s less enthusiastic about water and having his paws cleaned, so grooming and handling will need a patient, gradual approach that respects his comfort level.

Neighborhood Adventures

Bixby generally walks nicely on leash and enjoys getting out for neighborhood outings. He may react by barking at other dogs, particularly when they bark at him, and sometimes at men passing nearby. His adopter will need to maintain space from triggers and help him practice calmer responses with reward-based training.

He also has a distinctive post-potty routine: once he’s finished, he may suddenly dart away from the spot. A secure leash and attentive handling are essential, including while picking up after him.

His Perfect Match

Bixby is looking for a patient adopter who appreciates his playful spirit and can help him build confidence in new situations. At the shelter, he shared a room with several other dogs and also did well meeting

Blankie: Your Very Own Comfort Companion!

Age: 2–3 years old
Weight: 18 lbs
Breed: Maltipoo
Coat: Non-shedding

Read more about Blankie

Some dogs grow into their names. Blankie has already tucked himself into his! This gentle Maltipoo came to DPS from a shelter alongside his buddies Pacifier and Sippy Cup. All three had experienced neglect and arrived with terribly bedraggled coats, but beneath those tangles were wonderfully sweet spirits. From his very first day in foster care, Blankie has been friendly, affectionate, and ready to enjoy the comforts of a loving home.

Now he’s looking for a family to share his favorite things: leisurely walks, a good game of fetch, and a couch with plenty of blankets—and room for one more.

A Little Play, a Little Lounge

Blankie is a cuddler through and through. When you’re relaxing together, he finds a way to rest his head or a leg against you, just to keep a little connection. He’ll happily hop into your lap for affection, then nestle into a pile of blankets for a nap.

He’s also committed to distributing his love fairly. When his foster parents sit together on the couch, Blankie parks himself between them, snuggling with one before moving over to give the other a turn. Nobody gets left out of the Blankie love rotation!

Alongside his lounging talents, he has a playful side. He enjoys fetch and knows that bringing the ball right back is the secret to keeping the game going. His moderate energy makes for a lovely balance of activity and relaxation.

A Day in Blankie’s World

Blankie enjoys breakfast around 9 a.m. and dinner around 7 p.m., with a walk after each meal. Between outings, he likes keeping his foster company, stretching out on the couch, or finding a sunny spot around the house.

Evenings are for affection, a little play, and burrowing into his beloved blankets. At bedtime, he sleeps on his own dog bed in his foster parents’ bedroom, close to his favorite people.

His foster has used a crate for car travel, but hasn’t established an at-home crate routine.

Neighborhood Adventures

Blankie is a pleasant walking companion who generally matches his person’s pace and walks with minimal pulling. He enjoys investigating interesting smells and taking in the neighborhood.

Seeing another dog can make him forget his otherwise lovely leash manners: he may pull and bark in his eagerness to meet a potential friend. His adopters can help him practice calmer responses and polite greetings. He doesn’t bark at people on walks, though he will sometimes join in when the neighboring dog barks across the fence.

Blankie came into rescue with canine buddies and shows interest in other dogs outside, but he is currently the only pet in his foster home.

Household Skills and Little Lessons

Blankie is a responsive boy who picks up household expectations quickly. His foster reports that a few gentle reminders were enough to help him understand that the human bed was off-limits. He has also been remarkably cooperative with care, including taking his post-neuter medication.

His housetraining is progressing well. He still has an occasional accident, approximately every other day, so his adopters should continue regular potty opportunities, praise, and a consistent routine.

He hasn’t shown destructive chewing or digging in foster care
Building Confidence on His Own

Blankie enjoys companionship and is still learning to settle comfortably when his people leave. Sometimes he barks for approximately the first 30 minutes before curling up on the couch for a nap; other times, he skips the barking altogether. Short, positive practice sessions and a predictable departure routine will help him continue building confidence. His family should be comfo

Pumpernickel: One Tooth, Plenty of Personality
7-8 years old * 11 lbs * Shih Tzu mix
Pumpernickel has one tooth left, a very enthusiastic relationship with breakfast, and a whole new lease on life. When DPS rescued him from the shelter, his mouth was in terrible shape. Painful dental disease had this little gentleman feeling miserable, and we weren’t yet seeing the real dog underneath. One major dental later—with all but one tooth removed—Pumpernickel is feeling SO much better. There are even zoomies now! Apparently, beneath that serious expression was a fellow who still had a little pep waiting to be unlocked.
He’ll need soft food for life, which Pumpernickel considers a perfectly acceptable arrangement. If you’re serving meals, he’ll be attending.
A Gentleman of Leisure
Known as Nicky in his foster home, Pumpernickel is a quiet companion with a slightly stoic exterior and a soft spot for his person. He isn’t a lap dog, but he likes to settle beside you on the couch or near your feet. He’ll brush against your legs, happily accept a good butt scratch, and follow you from room to room to keep tabs on household proceedings. His affection is understated, but consistent: wherever you’ve landed, that’s probably where he’d like to be.
His interests include snoozing in a cozy bed, stretching out on the couch, and enjoying the sunshine on the deck. He’ll even hop onto a padded patio chair to secure a proper seat for his outdoor lounging. Toys? Not especially compelling. Dinner? Now you have his attention.
Breakfast Is a Priority
Pumpernickel wakes between 6 and 6:30 a.m. and needs a prompt trip outside. After a little backyard wandering, he comes back in with a clear agenda: BREAKFAST.
When his foster is home, he roams the first floor and enjoys access to the backyard through the open patio door. The rest of his day is a pleasant rotation of naps, sunshine, and keeping his person company. Around 4:30 p.m., he begins delivering meaningful looks to remind everyone that dinner is approaching. His evening includes dinner around 5–6 p.m. and a leisurely walk, followed by more relaxation before bedtime around 11 p.m. He sleeps in his own bed inside an x-pen and also stays there when his foster goes out.
Stop and Smell… Everything
Pumpernickel walks beautifully on leash, whether strolling solo or sharing a split leash with his foster’s resident dog. He enjoys an approximately 20-minute outing at a casual pace, with plenty of opportunities to investigate the neighborhood’s latest scents. He has shown little concern about dogs passing at a distance and will politely sit for his leash—and for a treat.
Backyard squirrels receive a somewhat less dignified reception. He may bark, track them along the fence, or give chase. Otherwise, he’s generally a quiet fellow, sometimes joining in when the resident dog starts barking. His foster hasn’t seen chewing or digging.
Peaceful Company Preferred
Nicky lives comfortably alongside a friendly, older female dog. They enjoy a peaceful coexistence, though her invitations to play can make him a little unsure. When a more exuberant canine visitor comes over, he sets boundaries without escalating the situation. He would likely enjoy being an only dog or sharing his home with a calm dog who respects his space. He may also be an option for a home with cats; it's likely that if they leave him alone, he will do the same.
He has been comfortable with the strangers he’s met so far. He has also done well on two car rides in a crate, with a little restlessness on longer trips.
House Manners
Pumpernickel is almost completely house-trained. Prior to his dental, he struggled with the doggy door; his foster suspects it hurt him to push

6. Fritos

Meet Fritos: Bet You Can’t Cuddle Just Once!

5 years old - 8 lbs. - Shih Tzu mix - Low shedding coat

A Little Snack with a Whole Lot of Love

Some dogs steal your socks. Fritos steals the five minutes you were supposed to spend getting ready for work. This sweet Shih Tzu mix is an expert at turning “I really need to get up” into “Okay, just one more cuddle.” His signature move? Lifting his head, gazing into your eyes, and settling right back onto your chest as though your calendar is merely a suggestion.

Read more about Fritos

At five years old, Fritos offers a wonderful balance of mellow companionship and playful enthusiasm. He bonds quickly, follows his person from room to room, and has a gentle way of asking for affection. Sometimes he’ll request a pet; sometimes he’ll hop into your lap and make himself comfortable. Once the cuddles begin, he’ll look at you with utter devotion before closing his eyes and soaking it all in.

Equal Parts Couch Companion and Adventure Buddy

Fritos is happy to match the mood of the household. Relaxing on the couch? He’s available for snuggle duty. Reaching for a toy? Suddenly, he’s ready for fetch or tug! He loves squeaky toys, especially his little lamb, and takes his tennis-ball enthusiasm quite seriously. Sturdier, dog-safe rubber balls are a better match for him than traditional tennis balls, which he can dismantle quickly.

Don’t let his love of lounging fool you: this little guy enjoys an adventure. He completed an eight-mile urban hike with friends and four other dogs, happily investigating the scenery before settling down beautifully for a picnic. He also travels wonderfully on trains, buses, BART, and in the car. His approach to public transportation is simple: ride quietly and see how many new friends might offer pets.

On walks, Fritos generally doesn’t pull, but he does believe every interesting tree deserves a thorough investigation. Attempt to rush his research, and you may discover that this easygoing fellow has some firm opinions about sniffing time.

A Social, Gentle Soul

Fritos has made lovely canine friendships in foster care. With his foster’s small resident dog, initial introductions grew into playing, licking, and snuggling together. He was gentle with her and clearly enjoyed her company. He also spent time with a six-year-old Goldendoodle and handled that introduction with the same mellow, friendly attitude.

He happily accepted pets from a child around six years old. A family with older children who can appreciate his affectionate nature could be a lovely fit.
His sweetness extends beyond seeking attention. When his foster wasn’t feeling well, Fritos stayed close with a paw resting on their lap. He’s an attentive little companion whose favorite place is beside someone he loves.

A Day in the Life of Fritos

Mornings begin with a little play and some very necessary bed cuddles, followed by a roughly 30-minute walk and breakfast. After another round of affection and a few treats, his foster heads to work while Fritos relaxes loose in the apartment.

When his person returns, he’s ready for a longer walk, followed by fetch or tug and some couch time. Dinner is around 5:30 p.m., with a final walk around 9:30 before bedtime. Naturally, the evening concludes with more cuddles.

Fritos prefers settling near his person to spending time in a crate. Although he scratched at the door briefly on his first day, he soon settled into the departure routine. With a few treats before his foster left, he did well at home without barking or damaging things. His joyful welcome-home yelps are brief, and then he’s ready to reconnect.

Good Habits and a Few Little Quirks

Fritos is housetrained in his foster home. He had some overnight accidents and marking during his first few days, but those resolved as he settled in with a consistent routine and brief use of a belly band. His adopters should give him the same patience and regular potty opportunities while he adjusts to a new home.

Jiggle: Tiny Girl, Big Dreams of Couch Ownership

Jiggle is a tiny girl with a big appreciation for life’s little luxuries: a comfy couch, a neighborhood stroll, and a person who knows just where to deliver the booty scratches. This 5–6 year old, 6.9 lb Chihuahua mix is ready to settle into her favorite role: somebody’s very loved little companion.

Read more about Jiggle

This petite mama has been through more than her fair share. Jiggle gave birth in a shelter and spent almost four weeks raising her babies in a kennel before DPS could rescue the family. After working so hard to care for her puppies, she deserves a home where someone can take care of her—and where the best seat on the couch has her name on it.

A Professional Pillow Percher

At her foster home, Jiggle has discovered that couch pillows make excellent observation decks. She loves to perch on top of one, supervising the household in comfort. She enjoys being near her people without needing to follow their every move, and once you’re in her circle, you’ll have a sweet, affectionate little friend.

When her foster dad comes home from work, she trots right over to collect her welcome-home pets and scratches. She's also content to perch herself on a lap and settle in for a good snuggle. Her wish list is wonderfully straightforward: good company, gentle affection, and somewhere soft to park her tiny self.

One Ear Up, Walking Shoes On

For all her lounging expertise, Jiggle is also an enthusiastic walking buddy. When she realizes an outing is coming, she sits up on her hind legs with her front paws in the air, one ear up and the other down. It’s quite a persuasive argument for grabbing the leash!

She walks nicely without pulling and happily joins her people for a good stroll, then returns home ready to resume her couch duties. She’s a lovely balance of “let’s go explore” and “shall we watch another episode?”

A Cozy Kind of Day

Jiggle starts her day around 7 a.m. with a potty trip, breakfast, and a walk. She isn’t particularly food motivated and sometimes prefers to finish breakfast later—apparently, a lady needn’t rush her dining experience.

The daytime hours offer plenty of opportunities for lounging and keeping her people company. Dinner is around 5:30–6 p.m., followed by another neighborhood walk and an evening watching TV with her foster family. After one last potty break, she settles into her crate for the night.

Little Lady, Lovely House Manners

Jiggle doesn’t chew or dig, can relax at home on her own, and can be left uncrated. She sleeps in her crate at night and has been a well-behaved little houseguest.

She is doing very well with housetraining and heads to the back door when she needs to go out. She can also use potty pads if needed. Her tummy can be sensitive, and now that she's not with her babies, her foster is working on figuring out a food that will keep her digestive system happy.
Friendship at Her Own Pace

Understandably, Jiggle can be nervous when meeting unfamiliar people or dogs. She may announce a visitor with a bark, but she warms up quickly once she gets the memo that you’re her people.

On her first day in foster care, she barked and snapped at the resident small dog. By the next day, she was mostly ignoring him, and now they coexist comfortably. She would likely love being someone’s one and only, though a friendly, low-key canine companion could also be a fit with patient introductions. She's not one who's going to play with or engage with other dogs, but can be in the same home or near them, as long as they respect her space.

A Peaceful Place to Call Her Own

Jiggle would thrive in a quiet home with adopters who give her a little time to settle in. Older, gentle childr

❤️ A FARMER IN THE DALE! MEET FARMER! ❤️

Meet Farmer, a handsome 2-year-old Corgi with a big personality and a heart just waiting for the right person to understand him! ❤️

Rescued by GreenDog Foundation from Palmdale Shelter, Farmer was labeled “Rescue Only” due to sensitivities around his neck and having a collar attached. However, Farmer is okay on a slip lead and will walk beautifully on one.

Since arriving in foster care, Farmer has been given something every dog deserves: time, patience, understanding, and space to decompress. And what a difference it’s made!

Read more about Farmer

Farmer has shown us that he can be a sweet, calm, easygoing companion who enjoys affection, pets, and belly rubs — on his terms. He’s also done well around his foster family’s child, who understands and respects a dog’s personal space.

A Little About Farmer:

●

2 years old | 34 lbs | Neutered male

●

Up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and flea prevention

●

House-trained and crate-trained

●

Appears to know basic commands

●

Calm, affectionate, and easygoing when he feels comfortable

❤️ Farmer’s Ideal Home

Farmer would thrive with an experienced, preferably Corgi-savvy owner who understands canine body language, respects boundaries, and allows trust to develop naturally.

A peaceful, predictable home without constant hustle and bustle would be ideal. An adult home or one with older, dog-savvy children would be best.

Farmer doesn’t need perfection. He needs understanding. With the right person, we believe this misunderstood little guy could be a wonderful, easygoing companion.

Mikki’s favorite activity is spending time with his people. He loves cuddling, happily follows his foster around the house, and has perfected a look that makes you think, “Well, surely I have time for a few more pets.” Spoiler alert: you do. According to Mikki, you definitely do.

Sweet with everyone he’s met, Mikki has been a lovely houseguest in both of his foster homes. He’s happy to relax in his pen when someone is nearby, and at bedtime he settles comfortably in his crate for the night. He enjoys companionship and would love a family that includes him in everyday life, with plenty of affection and cozy time together.

A Friendly Housemate

Mikki has shared his foster homes successfully with dogs of varying sizes. He gets along well with his canine housemates and walks nicely alongside his foster’s dog. He could enjoy a compatible dog companion in his forever home, though his greatest passion remains collecting love from his humans.

He doesn’t need an ambitious exercise schedule. Gentle daily outings, opportunities to sniff, and a sensible meal plan will help him work toward a healthier weight. His ideal fitness program comes with a generous cuddle break afterward.

A Coat Worth Caring For

Mikki has a non-shedding coat that will need regular grooming to keep him comfortable and looking his handsome best. He has also experienced itchy skin and suspected allergies. His skin has improved greatly on his current diet of Petaluma plant-based kibble with human-grade salmon. His adopters should be prepared to maintain a diet that agrees with him and work with their veterinarian on any ongoing skin needs.

While Mikki is comfortable with the dogs he knows at home, passing unfamiliar dogs on leash can bring out some big feelings, including growling and leash reactivity. He’ll benefit from patient, positive training and space from passing dogs as he practices calmer outings.

Mikki met a cat at the DPS Safehouse and was unfazed by her. He may be an option for a home with felines.

Mikki has already known what it means to be loved, and he’s ready to give that love right back. If you’re looking for a sweet companion who will follow you down the hallway, settle in for a cuddle, and gaze at you like you’re his whole world, Mikki would love to meet you.

Marina: Ready to Drop Anchor in Your Heart

After raising her four Boat puppies, it’s Marina’s turn to find a place to dock! This 1–2 year old, 25 lb Maltese mix came to DPS from the shelter with her babies. Now that her little crew is ready for their own adventures, this loving mama is discovering the joys of being someone’s baby herself.

Read more about Marina

Your Affectionate First Mate

Marina forms a close bond with her person and loves to keep them company around the house. Heading to another room? She’ll come along. Taking a seat? She may bring her sweet face right up to yours to request some affection. Getting down on the carpet for morning exercises? Congratulations—you’ve signed up for a workout with bonus kisses and a fluffy assistant climbing around you!

She loves pets, scratches, hugs, and especially being brushed. Her foster describes her coat as low-shedding, with just a few hairs appearing during brushing.
Although Marina enjoys being close, she doesn’t always need to be in your lap. Sometimes she cuddles up with her foster mom, and other times she chooses a nearby spot to stretch out and snooze. She’s a lovely mix of affectionate companion and relaxed lounging buddy.

Learning to Play Again

Marina has become happier and more playful as she’s settled into foster care. She’s learning that squeaky toys are pretty exciting and enjoys chasing plush toys as they slide across the wood floor. After breakfast, she sometimes celebrates the day with zoomies and a few enthusiastic laps around the yard.

Outside, she likes investigating the garden, checking under bushes for lizards, and keeping an eye on squirrels along the fence.
She’s also a girl who appreciates a good meal. Marina has learned to sit for food and treats, comes when called, and takes a keen interest in making sure no snack opportunity passes unnoticed.

A Sweet Routine

Marina wakes around 7:30 a.m. and is ready for breakfast promptly! She goes outside first, though she often prefers to finish eating before taking care of her potty business. Her day includes a morning walk of about half a mile, plenty of companionship and naps, dinner around 5 p.m., and another walk before bed.

Her favorite evening tradition is her dental chew. As soon as everyone heads upstairs, she starts looking for it. Afterward, she may stretch all four legs out on the carpet before settling into the comfy bed in her wire kennel. She sleeps through the night in her foster mom’s bedroom, with bedtime around 10 p.m.

Marina has had no potty accidents during the three weeks covered by her foster’s report. She consistently uses a particular area of the yard and currently prefers to potty there rather than on walks.

Helping Marina Navigate the World

Marina will need patient adopters who understand that her loving nature at home comes with some challenges outside it. She is reactive to dogs on walks, even at a distance, and may bark and pull when she sees them. Her adopters should be prepared to work with a qualified positive-reinforcement trainer and choose quieter walking routes while helping her build better coping skills. She has not had off-leash interactions with other dogs in her foster home, and a home where she can be the only pet would be the best starting point.
At intake, Marina was friendly with everyone she met, but on arrival in foster, she growled at her foster dad. With patient, consistent treat offerings, she became comfortable with him. It's possible she's more sensitive to men than women; her adopters will need to facilitate thoughtful intros with new people until they've gotten a better read on this.

Marina is practicing being comfortable during departures. Her foster has gradually worked up to l

12. Rocky

Adult · Male · Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (long coat) · 20 mi from San Jacinto

If you're looking for an easy pup, Rocky is your guy! Overall, he is quiet and mellow, happy to spend his days relaxing and cuddling with his person. However, he can be playful and active if you're feeling up for some fun. He loves being outside and has become very interested in chasing lizards or squirrels.

Read more about Rocky

Rocky gets along with every person he has met, but he isn't running up to everyone to make friends. He is mostly uninterested in new people and needs a little time to truly bond and open up. Because he can be shy, we think a home with young kids may be too much for him. He also would do best without hyper/dominant dogs. He gets along with our pups, but Rocky is submissive and he has been picked on in the past by bossy dogs so we want to make sure he can feel confident and secure in his next home.

Although it may seem like he doesn't care at first, once Rocky is in the right environment where he can feel comfortable, he is a sweet, cuddly boy and he even enjoys playing with a few of our other dogs.

Rocky is a 15 lb, 5 year old Yorkie mix (likely with Poodle or Schnauzer) and has very soft, fine hair that will need regular grooming. Our groomer said he behaved very well during his hair cut!

Rocky is already neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped so he can move in right away!

Lampshade is ready to brighten your home—and then find the most comfortable place in it to take a nap. This 2 year old, 18 lb Frenchie is a petite package of affection, happy greetings, and couch-cuddling expertise. Her usual speed is leisurely, but seeing her favorite person can briefly turn this little lounger into a one-dog welcome parade.

Read more about Lampshade

A bright little personality

Lampshade has been outgoing and affectionate since her very first day in foster care. No lengthy getting-to-know-you period here: she was ready to make friends, follow her person around, and settle in for snuggles. She loves being included in everyday life, whether that means accompanying you from room to room or keeping you company on the couch.

Her morning greetings and after-work reunions are particularly delightful. After spending much of the day perfecting her napping technique, she suddenly springs into a burst of joyful zoomies. Apparently, even a committed couch potato needs to celebrate when her favorite human appears. Once the festivities conclude, she’s happy to return to cuddling.

Walk, sniff, snooze, repeat

Lampshade’s current routine includes breakfast around 7 a.m. and dinner around 7 p.m., with a walk after each meal. She enjoys getting out into the neighborhood, where every interesting smell deserves consideration and every passerby might be a new friend.

She doesn’t pull strongly on leash, but she does appreciate time to investigate her surroundings. Her ideal walking partner will enjoy a relaxed outing with plenty of sniffing stops. She is friendly toward people and dogs she meets along the way and also enjoys greeting children.

At home, she has a gated dining-room area that serves as her comfortable home base during the workday and overnight. When her foster is home, Lampshade happily trades her solo lounging for together time.

An affectionate girl with a good off switch

Lampshade enjoys companionship, but she has also done well when left alone for up to seven hours in her foster home. She may offer a brief grumble about your departure before settling down, and she mostly spends the time napping. Her foster has not observed ongoing distress during these absences.

She has also been a considerate houseguest, with no observed destructive chewing or digging and very little vocalizing. Between her quiet habits, manageable size, and enthusiasm for lounging, she could be a lovely companion for someone seeking a relaxed dog with a playful little spark.

A few things she’s still learning

Lampshade goes potty outside on walks and also uses potty pads in her gated area. She will need patient help establishing a consistent bathroom routine in her new home before she can be considered reliably housetrained for outdoor-only potty breaks. Her crate training and experience with a doggy door are unknown.

Lampshade has not lived with another dog. She attended a doggy playgroup and played well with bigger dogs, though her play style was a bit much for smaller dogs.
Let there be Lampshade

Lampshade’s wish list is wonderfully straightforward: affectionate people, daily sniff-filled strolls, a comfortable place to snooze, and someone who appreciates an enthusiastic reunion. In return, she offers sweet companionship, excellent couch company, and the occasional zoomie performance in your honor.

If your home could use a little more light—and a little Frenchie curled up beside you—Lampshade is ready to meet you.

Stellaluna: A Little Moonbeam Looking for Her Person

Read more about Stellaluna

Stellaluna is a 2–3 year old, 9 lb Chinese Crested mix rescued from the shelter. This little lady has two favorite destinations: her familiar neighborhood sniffing spots and the couch beside someone she loves. With her very low-shedding coat, affectionate heart, and impressive commitment to lounging, she’s ready to bring a little moonlight into the right home.

A Friendship Worth Waiting For

Stellaluna likes to take a little time getting to know her people. When she first arrived in foster care, she was a bit reserved, but with patience and a predictable routine, she began showing her sweeter, snugglier side.

Once you’re in her circle, you’ll have a devoted little companion who enjoys following you around the house, sitting beside you, and accepting invitations to cuddle. Watching her grow comfortable enough to seek out affection has been one of the most rewarding parts of fostering her.

Professional Lounger, Dedicated Sniff Inspector

Indoors, Stellaluna is a calm companion who doesn’t need a constant entertainment committee. She’s happy to snooze, supervise from the couch, and make room in her busy resting schedule for attention.

Mention a walk, however, and she’s ready to clock in. She loves exploring and has very specific sniffing stops along her usual routes. Yes, she checked that spot yesterday. No, that does not mean today’s inspection can be skipped.

Her Daily Orbit

Stellaluna currently starts her day around 6:30–6:45 a.m. with a walk, followed by breakfast and a morning nap. Afternoon and early evening walks break up her lounging, with dinner around 6 p.m. and a final potty outing around 8 p.m.

She sleeps on the living room couch. A crate proved distressing for her, so her fosters use gates or an x-pen to create a comfortable living room area with couch access when they’re away. She is still working on housetraining and will need regular bathroom breaks and a consistent routine.

Helping Her Confidence Grow

Stellaluna has made progress with settling when left alone. Initially, she cried or barked and waited near the door; she now more often settles on the couch. Her adopters should be prepared to continue building her comfort with gradual, positive practice.

Outside, other dogs can feel overwhelming, and she may show some reactivity. Quieter walking routes, plenty of distance, and patient reward-based training will help her work on this. Off-leash she has done well with other dogs, and even met a cat and was neutral about her.

Her Ideal Landing Spot

Stellaluna would thrive in a calm, predictable household with patient adopters who appreciate a tenderhearted little dog. For someone who enjoys daily walks, cozy evenings, and the quiet joy of earning a shy dog’s trust, Stellaluna has so much to offer. Give her time to find her footing, and this little moonbeam may soon have a favorite place in the universe: right beside you.

Meet Po: A Gentle Soul with a Lot of Love to Show

Read more about Po

Po is a 1 year old, 42 lb Lab mix who was adopted from DPS as a puppy and returned when his owner could no longer care for him. This handsome boy is finding his footing in his foster home—and winning hearts with his quiet company, lovely manners, and those sweet moments when he rests his head in his foster’s lap.

A Little Patience, a Beautiful Friendship

Po takes a little time to get comfortable in a new place. When he first arrived, he was quiet and unsure, even passing on meals while happily accepting treats. Over the next several days, his appetite returned and his affectionate side began to emerge.

He enjoys gentle rubs and is starting to seek out attention on his own. He isn’t ready to jump straight into full cuddle sessions, but walking over to place his head in your lap? That’s Po’s way of saying, “I think we’re going to be friends.” Give him time to settle in, and you’ll get to watch that trust grow.

Excellent Company, Minimal Commentary

If you’re looking for a companion who appreciates simply sharing your space, Po has that covered. He likes resting near his foster in the office or keeping him company while he gardens. He’s young enough to enjoy playtime without being constantly on the go, and his foster describes him as gentle, well behaved, and very easy to care for.

Po is also remarkably quiet. So far, his foster has heard him bark just once, in response to a neighbor’s dog through the fence.
Walks, Meals, and a Cozy Crate

Po’s day starts around 6:30 a.m. with a walk followed by breakfast. He enjoys an evening walk and dinner, then a short outing around 10 p.m. before bedtime. He walks nicely on leash and currently prefers to do his potty business on walks rather than in the backyard, so regular outings are an important part of his routine.
His foster reports that he is fully housetrained and crate trained. Point him toward his crate, and he walks right in! He sleeps there overnight and settles calmly during his foster’s outings of about two hours, with no barking or fussing reported.

Friends and Family

Po previously lived with a cat. In his current foster home, he was excited to meet and play with his foster’s 10 year old grandson. In his prior home, he went to the dog park and played nicely with other dogs.
A Young Dog Learning the House Rules

Po has mostly been an easy houseguest, though one pair of slippers and a patch of vegetable garden did receive some unsolicited attention. Appropriate chew toys, supervision, and guidance will help this young boy learn what’s available for chewing—and which gardening projects belong to the humans.

His Next Chapter

Po is looking for a family who will give him a gentle welcome and let him build confidence at his own pace. Walks, a predictable routine, a comfortable place nearby, and patient affection are a wonderful starting point.

His foster says he would consider adopting Po himself if his upcoming schedule allowed it. That’s quite an endorsement for a dog whose greatest talent may be quietly making himself part of your heart.

Pastrami: A Little Shy, a Little Goofy, and Best Served with a Sidekick

Read more about Pastrami

Meet Pastrami, a 1 year old, 15-pound Maltipoo rescued from the shelter. This handsome boy has a non-shedding coat that will need regular grooming, a delightful happy dance, and a firm belief that life is better with a dog friend beside you. He’s still gathering his courage around people, but give him a canine companion and you’ll get a glimpse of the playful, silly pup waiting beneath that cautious exterior.

Pastrami’s recipe for happiness? A patient family, a friendly resident dog, and shoes stored somewhere he cannot reach.

Trust Is Built One Treat at a Time

When Pastrami first arrived in his foster home, everyday movements and household sounds felt overwhelming. Someone walking past him or picking up a pot could send him scurrying for a safe corner. His foster family gave him time and space, and their resident dog, Ollie, helped show him that this new place might be pretty wonderful.

Over the past few weeks, Pastrami has made meaningful progress. Taking a treat from a hand, allowing someone to sit nearby, and choosing to stay close are all little victories worth celebrating. As his confidence grows, so does his personality—and there is quite a character in there.

He isn’t ready to be a human lap dog just yet, but he has found his own way to express affection. When his foster family comes home, he greets them with an adorable bouncy dance. His feet may be celebrating before the rest of him feels brave enough to come closer, and that makes those greetings especially sweet.

His Favorite Sandwich Comes with Another Dog

Pastrami absolutely adores Ollie, his foster’s 22-pound doodle. He follows Ollie’s lead, initiates games of chase and playful wrestling, and happily curls up beside him when they’re both ready to rest. His foster family suspects Ollie currently outranks them on Pastrami’s list of favorite beings. They have accepted their supporting roles.

That fondness extends to dogs he sees on walks. Pastrami perks up with friendly interest and may pause to see whether a potential pal is coming over to say hello. If a greeting doesn’t happen, he’s happy to continue his walk.

A friendly, confident resident dog is strongly recommended for Pastrami’s forever home. Canine company brings out his relaxed, playful side and has also helped him feel comfortable when his people leave the house.

Play Hard, Nap Nearby

Pastrami has a lovely balance of puppy playfulness and lounging skills. With a willing dog buddy, he’s ready for another round of fun. Once everyone is tired, he switches into recharge mode.

His day begins around 6:30 a.m., with breakfast at approximately 7 a.m. and a walk afterward. During the day, he hangs out in the living room, often choosing his dog bed beside his foster’s work area. There are treats, potty outings, and opportunities to spend time with his favorite furry friend.

Dinner arrives around 6:30 p.m., followed by his second walk. When time allows, a detour to the park adds a little extra exploration. At bedtime, Pastrami generally heads into his crate once he understands it’s time to settle, and he sleeps soundly through the night.

A Lovely Little Walking Companion

Pastrami walks very well on leash. He hasn’t shown leash reactivity or barked at people or dogs during his outings. He enjoys seeing other dogs, though a person approaching him can still make him nervous.

His adopter should be comfortable letting him observe people without expecting him to accept attention from everyone he meets. Quiet encouragement and room to make his own choices will help him continue building confidence.

Tarot: We See a Lot of Snuggles in Your Future

Tarot has had enough plot twists for one little Chiweenie. At just 1–2 years old, she tested positive for heartworm and began a long journey through treatment and recovery. Now she’s finally cleared for exercise and ready to start her next chapter: discovering how much fun life can be with a family of her own.

Read more about Tarot

If Tarot could read your future, it would involve an incredibly soft little dog tucked into your lap, a suspiciously warm lump beneath your blankets, and dinner served promptly. Especially that last part. This girl believes in destiny, but she also believes in a schedule.

The Cuddle Card: Always Face Up

Tarot’s greatest talent is snuggling. Once she feels comfortable with you, she’s an affectionate little companion who loves curling up close and keeping you company. Her foster’s video meetings often feature a surprise guest appearance: Tarot climbing into a lap, delivering a few face kisses, and making sure everyone knows who deserves top billing. Once introductions are complete, she settles in for a lap nap.

She follows her person around the house and, at bedtime, happily burrows beneath the covers. Add in her wonderfully silly expressions and occasional little smile, and you have a dog who can make an ordinary evening feel pretty special.

Tarot may announce her uncertainty when meeting someone new, but she has warmed up fairly quickly in the foster homes where she’s stayed. Treats help enormously. Even her foster’s boyfriend, whom she adores, gets a vocal welcome before she remembers that his lap is one of her favorite places.

A Day in Tarot’s World

Tarot usually wakes when her person does, although an unusually early alarm may earn you a “please proceed without me.” After her first potty outing, breakfast arrives around 7:30–8 a.m., followed by a little playtime and a cozy couch nap.

Between snoozes, she enjoys food puzzles and an appropriate chew to keep her busy. A lunchtime walk offers a chance to stretch her legs and investigate the neighborhood. By approximately 4:45 p.m., Tarot begins issuing dinner reminders. These start as grumbles and may escalate if management fails to respond.

Her foster describes her as an “energetic couch potato,” which fits beautifully: she loves lounging, but there’s also a lively, playful girl in there. After so much time spent keeping quiet during treatment, she’s ready to gradually enjoy more walks, play, and exploration.

Learning That the World Is on Her Side

Tarot is a sensitive girl who feels safest with familiar people and predictable surroundings. Unfamiliar people and dogs can worry her, and she may bark or growl to express that uncertainty, particularly on leash. Sometimes she approaches someone with interest and then decides she needs a little more space.

She responds well to encouragement, treats, and a cheerful “good girl.” Her foster has found that praising and rewarding her before she becomes overwhelmed can sometimes help her stay focused and comfortable. She knows “sit” and understands “go lie down” with a pointing gesture, though she also has a wonderfully opinionated streak about which requests deserve her participation.

Tarot will benefit from a patient adopter who can build her confidence through gentle, reward-based training and introductions at a comfortable distance and pace. She has spent a long time with her activities restricted; now she has the opportunity to learn about the world one manageable outing at a time.

Walks, Sniffaris, and Future Adventures

In quieter settings, Tarot can be a lovely walking companion. With regular outings and a harness, she generally walks close to her person, with occasional burst

Read more about Orangina

Orangina: A Little Sweetness, Slowly Revealed
Age: 1–2 years | Weight: 10 lbs | Breed: Terrier mix
Orangina isn’t quite ready to pop the cork on her bubbly side—but the first little fizz is there. A morning tail wag. A quiet toy party in her pen. A shy kiss on the hand that offers her a treat. For this little shelter girl, those small moments are big milestones, and watching her discover that life can be safe and kind is a special kind of joy.
At 1–2 years old and just 10 pounds, Orangina is a reserved Terrier mix looking for a gentle home where she can build confidence at her own pace. Her personality is unfolding slowly, with glimpses of sweetness and playfulness that make every step forward worth celebrating.
A Private Showing of Her Playful Side
When Orangina first arrived in her foster home, she was so nervous that she didn’t want to leave her crate. Her foster introduced an exercise pen, which has become another comfortable home base. Having a familiar place to retreat helps her relax—and relaxed Orangina has toys to attend to.
For now, her best play sessions happen when the house is quiet and she thinks nobody is watching. She enjoys entertaining herself with her toys, then curling up for a nap with her nose tucked into her bed to keep it warm. She takes cozy very seriously.
As her trust grows, she’s beginning to greet her foster family with tail wags, especially in the morning. Treat time has also brought a few sweet, brief kisses on their hands. She’s still getting comfortable with people, but those little gestures offer a lovely peek at the dog underneath the shyness.
Her Daily Recipe for Comfort
Orangina does well with a predictable routine. She wakes around 6:30 a.m. and heads to the backyard for a potty break, then settles in her crate while her foster family tackles morning chores. Breakfast arrives around 7:45 a.m.: moistened kibble with a fresh-food topper.
After breakfast and a nap, she spends about 15–20 minutes in the backyard, taking care of business and practicing walking on leash. Then it’s back to her pen for toys and another snooze, with additional yard breaks between naps.
Dinner is at 5 p.m., followed by a final potty trip around 8:30 p.m. Orangina sleeps quietly in her crate through the night. She also rests comfortably in her crate when her foster leaves home, with no separation anxiety observed.
Small Dog, Excellent Housekeeping
Orangina has had no potty accidents in her foster home and is fully housetrained there. She’s comfortable in her crate, and her foster hasn’t heard her bark so far. She hasn’t shown digging behavior, either.
She enjoys chewing her toys, though she has chewed a leash and collar in the past, so adopters should supervise her equipment and keep appropriate chew toys available. Her coat sheds regularly.
Her current lifestyle is mellow: some quiet play, some backyard exploring, and plenty of comfortable resting. As she becomes more secure, her adopters will get to discover more of her interests alongside her.
Learning That the World Is Friendly
Leash walking is still a work in progress. Orangina practices in the backyard, where she tends to follow closely behind her foster. She sometimes resists the leash and needs gentle guidance and encouragement. She hasn’t ventured out for neighborhood walks yet, so her new family should be ready to build on these small practice sessions gradually.
She has shared space with two small resident dogs and has also been comfortable around gentle larger dogs, but she isn’t looking for a wrestling partner or an enthusiastic welcoming committee. She generally keeps to herself and backs away when approached. If another dog gets too close, she may snap to ask for space. Calm dogs who can leave her room to settle could be suitable companions, with slow, supervised introducti

22. Kirby

Young (1 year 2 months) · Male · American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) · 21 mi from San Jacinto

Kirby is a 14 month old young gentleman who is simply an all around incredible pup.

He is polite, obedient and super smart.

This good boy really loves his doggie friends and would LOVE to join a stable pack or even just have another K9 companion.

He is the kind of dog that you can trust in just about any situation.

We have no idea why such a good boy found himself without a home, but we can certainly attest to the fact that it’s their loss. As the old saying goes, “one man’s trash, is another man’s treasure. “

24. Marley

Adult (2 years) · Female · Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) · 25 mi from San Jacinto

Meet Marley!

Marley is a young, lovable girl with the perfect combination of playful, affectionate, gentle—and just the right amount of goofy!

Marley originally came from the Irvine Animal Care Center and was adopted into a home without another dog. Unfortunately, she struggled there. Marley became anxious and distressed when left alone because she truly needs the security and companionship of another dog. When her adopter decided she could no longer keep her, Green Dog Foundation stepped in and welcomed Marley into our rescue.

Read more about Marley

Now in foster care with other dogs, Marley is happy, playful, and thriving. She loves people and enjoys playing with dogs of all shapes and sizes. She is completely potty trained, leash trained, obedient, even-tempered, and eager to please. Marley loves toys, car rides, and social outings—but she is equally happy snuggling beside you and being a professional couch potato.

Because we now understand what Marley needs to feel safe and content, she must be adopted into a home with another friendly dog. For Marley, canine companionship is not simply a preference—it is an important part of helping her succeed in her forever home.

If you’re searching for a sweet, playful companion who will make you laugh, join you on adventures, and curl up beside you afterward, Marley may be your girl. She isn’t just looking for a family—she’s looking for a built-in best friend, too!
❤️

Marley’s adoption fee is $450.

Why adopt an adult dog in San Jacinto

An adult dog's personality is fully formed, so the rescue can tell you how they are with people, other pets and busy households. Many have lived in foster homes and are already house-trained.

Grown dogs need less supervision than puppies and often know the basics, like sitting and walking on a leash, which suits people who work or have young children.
