3. Pebbles

Young (5 months 28 days) · Female · Boxer / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 35 mi from Pensacola

Meet Pebbles, a three-legged superstar with a heart full of love and a whole lot of life left to live! This 6-month-old Boxer/Pit mix has already overcome more than any puppy should have to, but you would never know it from her happy-go-lucky personality.

Read more about Pebbles

We believe Pebbles was hit by a car before she came into our care. She had a severe fracture near her elbow that couldn't be repaired, so amputation was necessary. She also had an old jaw fracture that has healed nicely on its own. Now that she's no longer dealing with a painful leg, Pebbles is feeling fantastic! She runs, plays, and gets around just fine with no mobility issues. Three legs certainly haven't slowed this girl down!

Pebbles is a smart cookie who already knows how to sit and is eager to keep learning. She loves other dogs and does well with cats and kids, too. She's kennel trained and leash trained, and she's the kind of girl who wants to stick close to her people rather than run off on her own. Wherever her favorite humans go, Pebbles wants to be part of the adventure!

Pebbles is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on prevention. Her adoption fee is $200.

This special girl has already shown just how resilient she is. Now she deserves a family who will see past her missing leg and recognize the wonderful, playful, loving puppy she is. If you're looking for a loyal companion who is ready to run, play, learn, and love, Pebbles is waiting to meet you!

If you are interested in adopting, please go to straylovefoundation.org and fill out an adoption application.

6. Raggedy Ann aka Annie

Puppy (4 years 4 months) · Female · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 68 mi from Pensacola

EMERGENCY INTAKE UPDATE!!!

Meet Raggedy Ann, aka “Annie.” ❤️

Annie saw our vet yesterday, and unfortunately, this sweet baby has a long road to recovery ahead of her.

She is suffering from hereditary demodectic mange, fungal and bacterial skin infections, and much of her little body is essentially one large, oozing scab. She is also emaciated and full of parasites.

And yet, through all of that pain and discomfort, Annie is one of the sweetest, most grateful girls.

Read more about Raggedy Ann aka Annie

She is only around 4 months old, which means she has likely spent most—if not all—of her very short life living in this terrible condition. Despite everything she has endured, she is so appreciative of every gentle touch, every meal, and every bit of love she receives. ❤️

Annie is now safely settled into foster care, where she is finally receiving the medical treatment, nutrition, comfort, and love she desperately needs. She has a long journey ahead, but we made her a promise:

It’s ALL up from here, sweet girl. You will never have to live like this again. ❤️

Her care will be extensive, and we desperately need help covering her medical expenses. If you’re able to donate—even a few dollars—every single contribution adds up and helps us continue saying YES to animals like Annie when they need us most.

8. Beau

Young (1 year) · Male · Hound (short coat) · 35 mi from Pensacola

Meet Beau-Beau is a lively, full‑blooded hound with a big personality packed into his 33-pound frame. At just one year old, he’s energetic, curious, and always ready for his next adventure. He’s house-trained, knows how to sit for treats, and enjoys playing fetch, even if he loses interest once he’s had his fun. He doesn’t have a favorite toy yet — he’s far more interested in exploring the world around him.
Beau walks well on a leash but tends to pull when he catches an exciting scent, which is no surprise for a young hound who’s always on the hunt. He loves to run like the wind, play with other dogs, and be part of an active environment. He’s kid-friendly and social, though his experience with cats is still unknown.
This busy boy would thrive with a family who appreciates the hound temperament — spirited, affectionate, and endlessly curious. Beau is ready to bring joy, energy, and plenty of love to a home that can keep up with his adventurous nature.

Puppy (4 years 4 months) · Male · Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 68 mi from Pensacola

✨ UPDATE!! MEET DAKOTA! ✨

Meet Dakota! This adorable little guy came to us from a local overcrowded shelter and has settled beautifully into foster care!

Dakota is a 3–4-month-old Terrier mix weighing just 4 lbs. Based on his current size, we believe he may be around 10–15 lbs. as an adult, but with mixed-breed puppies, adult size is always our best guess.

This little guy is SO sweet, playful, and great with other dogs! He’s enjoying foster life, playing with his furry friends, and showing everyone what a happy little pup he is.

Dakota is UTD, neutered, and READY for his forever home!

Read more about Dakota

Our adoptions are NOT first come, first served, and there is NO fee to apply! We work to find the home that is the best match for each individual animal.

We never state that any animal is fully house-trained. New environments, situations, families, and routines can lead to accidents—even with the most well-trained animals. Puppies especially will need continued potty training, socialization, and guidance as they grow.

ADOPTION FEE: $195

The adoption fee includes a vet check, age-appropriate vaccinations (at least 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm testing if over 6 months old, rabies vaccination if at least 16 weeks old, and spay/neuter.

All puppies will be altered before adoption. As part of our rescue policy, all healthy and adoptable dogs over 8 weeks old and 2 lbs. will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption. We have researched pediatric spay/neuter extensively and discussed it in depth with multiple veterinarians. From a rescue standpoint, this is an essential part of our efforts to prevent unwanted litters.

There are no exceptions to this policy for healthy, adoptable puppies. Please do not request an extension on spay/neuter, as one will not be granted.

❤️ Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue is an ALL-VOLUNTEER rescue. Please allow our volunteers time to respond to inquiries and applications. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. We have researched and discussed in depth with multiple vets everything on pediatric spay and neuter and from a rescue standpoint it must be done. 15. Motley

Young (4 months 28 days) · Male · Hound / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 61 mi from Pensacola

Motley is a 5-month-old, 30-pound silly boy with a look all his own: white spots paired with brindle-striped legs make him one of a kind.

He's full of puppy fun, but a walk around the neighborhood, a play session with other dogs, or a game of tug of war is all it takes to wear him out, and then he's ready to settle in. He's a great fit for someone who wants a playful, happy pup without nonstop energy.

He's already house and crate trained. He gets along with other dogs and loves a good treat filled toy. Cats are still a mystery to him: he's equal parts scared and amazed by them, but has not shown aggression towards the ones in his foster home.

16. Scooter

Adult (2 years) · Male · Staffordshire Bull Terrier / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 35 mi from Pensacola

Meet Scooter!

Scooter is a 2-year-old Lab/Staffy mix with a big smile and an even bigger heart. This handsome boy is about as laid-back as they come and would absolutely love nothing more than a comfy couch to crash on and a family to love.

Scooter is constantly smiling and seems to genuinely love life and everyone he meets. He is an easygoing boy who doesn't require a ton of exercise, making him a wonderful companion for someone looking for a relaxed, low-key dog.

Read more about Scooter

Scooter has been neutered, vaccinated, and is on parasite prevention. He is currently being treated for heartworms, but that doesn't stop this happy boy from enjoying life and soaking up all the attention he can get.

All Scooter needs now is someone willing to give him a chance and show him what it means to have a family of his own. Will you be that person?

If you are interested in adopting, please go to straylovefoundation.org and fill out an adoption application.

Each of our rescues will be COMPLETELY vetted and/or updated, which includes a heartworm test, worming, spay/neutered, vaccines, and micro-chipping.

We do all in our power to assure our rescues are as healthy as possible and live a long happy life. There is always a chance that an animal we have rescued will have a genetic health issue (since they are rescues there is know way that we can know their family history) or one of our tests falls in that low percentage of false negative category or a they contract a rare disease that we have no way of knowing about or they contract under your care. We cannot guarantee 100% that your pet will live the 15 to 20 years we hope for but with all that we do for them,
the chances are incredibly strong that they will.

Transportation fees, when applicable, vary by distance/expense.

Home checks may be conducted.

We are asking for adoption donation of $198.
On most animals, a tax-deductible adoption donation of $198 is required upon approved adoption application. (This is a fraction of our vet expenses and you are always welcome to donate more.) HOWEVER, when we rescue a special breed, ridiculously adorable, or unusual color, we ask for a higher donation which helps towards our vet expenses.

If you can't adopt, donate or sponsor, if you can't donate, volunteer!

Tax deductible donations can be made via PayPal using our email address: info@straylovefoundation.org. Or you can click on the donate button on our

17. Darla

Adult · Female · Terrier / Mixed · 61 mi from Pensacola

Darla is two years old and an absolute darling with a sweet, gentle personality. She loves to play, but she’s also perfectly content curling up on the couch for a long, cozy nap.

Darla is a little sad right now. She was found dumped on a dirt road and doesn’t understand why she was abandoned or why her family left her behind. Darla gets along well with other dogs and would love a patient, loving home where she can feel safe, build her confidence, and discover just how wonderful life can be.

19. Mollie Mae

Adult · Female · Catahoula Leopard Dog / Mixed (short coat) · 68 mi from Pensacola

✨ UPDATE!! MEET MOLLIE! ✨

Now that her babies have all moved on, it’s finally Momma Mollie’s turn to be someone’s baby! ❤️

Mollie was found as a stray and went on to give birth to 7 beautiful babies. She was an amazing momma, and today her last puppy left the nest. Now this special girl is ready to begin the next chapter of her life!

Mollie is a gorgeous blue merle Catahoula mix, approximately 3–5 years old and 35–40ish lbs. When she first arrived, this poor girl was absolutely terrified. Despite how scared she was, she remained incredibly sweet and never showed any aggression.

And what a difference 8 weeks has made! ❤️

Read more about Mollie Mae

Mollie is absolutely thriving in her foster home! She loves exploring the farm, playing with her foster siblings, and then settling in for some cuddles on the couch. She is great with dogs of all sizes AND cats. She doesn’t mind children, but we feel an older, calmer household would likely be the best fit for her personality.

Mollie uses a doggy door and keeps a clean kennel. Most importantly, she has learned that people can be kind and that life can be GOOD.

Her perfect family will understand that she may need a little patience, love, and reassurance while adjusting to a new environment. Give this girl a little time to feel safe, and we truly believe you’ll get a lifetime of love in return.

Mollie is UTD, heartworm tested, spayed, and READY FOR ADOPTION!

She has already overcome so much. She raised her babies, watched them leave for their new adventures, and now it’s Momma’s turn. Please help us find the family who will show Mollie just how wonderful the “real and good” life can be. ❤️

Our adoptions are NOT first come, first served, and there is NO fee to apply. We work to find the best match for each individual animal.

We also never state that any animal is fully house-trained. New environments, situations, families, and routines can lead to accidents—even with the most well-trained animals.

✨ MEET REBECCA!!! ✨

‼️ FOR OVER 3 YEARS ‼️ our volunteers, dedicated street feeders, and Mobile County Animal Shelter worked endlessly to catch this sweet girl. Rebecca evaded trap after trap after trap!

During those years, we helped multiple litters of puppies in the area and even successfully trapped Rebecca’s sister and her litter about a year ago.

BUT 6 MONTHS AGO, EVERYTHING CHANGED!!! ❤️

Thanks to the amazing efforts of Animal Control…

REBECCA WAS FINALLY SECURED, SAFE, AND OFF THE STREETS!!!

And today, she is THRIVING in foster care!

Read more about Rebecca

How this girl survived years on the streets through freezing temperatures and snow, the extreme summer heat, traffic, vehicles, and everything else she encountered is beyond us. She is one tough girl! ❤️

Rebecca has now been fully vetted and spayed, and little by little, she is learning how to be a dog and discovering what the good life is all about.

ABOUT REBECCA:
Lab mix
Approximately 3–5 years old
Around 40 lbs.
Shy at first, but oh-so-sweet
Great with dogs of all sizes
Doesn’t mind a kennel
Uses a doggy door
Loves being comfy on the couch
Has SO much love to give!

Rebecca will need a patient, understanding family who will give her the time she needs to adjust to a new home, routine, and environment. After spending so much of her life surviving on the streets, learning to trust takes time — but this girl is absolutely worth it. ❤️

She deserves to finally know what it feels like to have a family of her very own.

This rescue was truly a GROUP EFFORT. It takes a village, and we have the BEST! We are incredibly thankful to every volunteer, street feeder, Animal Control officer, shelter employee, foster, and supporter who played a part in getting Rebecca to safety.

Now there is only ONE thing missing from her story…

25. Daisy

Adult · Female · Beagle / Mixed (short coat) · 68 mi from Pensacola

UPDATE!!✨

I spent my life being neglected… but somehow, I never stopped believing people could be good.

“Hello, my name is Daisy.

I’m a calm, gentle girl who is approximately 5 years old. I was abandoned in a rural area of West Mobile, where I was found emaciated, starving and desperately in need of someone to care.

Thankfully, my foster parents found me, brought me home, filled my belly, gave me a bath and showed me kindness. Since then, I’ve slowly started letting my little personality shine through. ❤️

Read more about Daisy

I’m still a quiet, sweet girl who absolutely loves attention. The second I hear my foster parents’ voices, my tail starts wagging. It doesn’t take much to make me happy—I’m just grateful to finally know what it feels like to be cared for.

I’m also your classic Beagle! If I catch the scent of a squirrel or rabbit trail, that Beagle nose immediately goes to work!

I do well with my foster siblings, a Frenchie and a Jack Russell, and I don’t mind cats either. My foster family has children who can sometimes be loud and energetic, and that doesn’t bother me.

More than anything, I’m looking for someone calm, patient and kind.

My foster family believes I probably spent most, if not all, of my life living outside and being neglected. I don’t know why that was the life I was given, but despite everything I’ve been through, I still trust. I still love. And I still want a family of my own.

I’m ready to learn what it means to be someone’s beloved dog instead of the dog who was forgotten.

I don’t need anything fancy. I just need someone willing to show me the compassion, love and companionship I should have had all along.

❤️ Will you be the person who finally gives me my chance? ❤️”

PLEASE SHARE DAISY! Somewhere out there is the family she has been waiting her whole life to find.

Levi is now 14 weeks old and around 12 lbs. He is a spunky, playful little guy who loves HARD! ❤️ He’s full of puppy personality, fun, and affection and is ready to find a family to call his own!

Levi is up to date on age-appropriate vetting, altered, and READY for his forever home!

✨ IMPORTANT ADOPTION INFORMATION ✨

Our adoptions are NOT first come, first served, and there is NO fee to apply. Our goal is always to find the best possible match for each animal.

We never state that any animal is fully house-trained.

ADOPTION FEE: $195

The adoption fee includes:
• Vet check
• Age-appropriate vaccinations (at least 2 sets for puppies)
• Dewormer
• Heartworm test if over 6 months old
• Rabies vaccine if at least 16 weeks old
• Spay/neuter

All puppies will be altered before adoption. All healthy, adoptable dogs over 8 weeks old and 2 pounds will be altered before leaving our rescue. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Pediatric spay/neuter is an important part of our rescue efforts. We have researched and discussed this policy extensively with multiple veterinarians, and it is a policy we will continue to follow. Please do not request an extension for spay/neuter, as one will not be granted for a healthy puppy.

❤️ PLEASE REMEMBER:
Wags and Whiskers is an ALL-VOLUNTEER rescue. Our volunteers have jobs, families, personal pets, fosters, and many animals depending on them. Please allow us time to respond to inquiries and applications. We truly appreciate your patience and support!

Applicant applies to adopt. Volunteers does a vet check to make sure all current or previous animals are UTD on shots, HW prevention and spayed or neutered. We also ask the vet/vet tech if s/he believes the applicant should have a boxer. Then we do a property check to make sure the applicant owns his/her home or that the landlord is OK with the applicant having a boxer. If there is a HOA or COA then we make sure that Boxers are OK. Then we call the applicant for a phone interview. If the phone interview goes well then we do a home interview. If that goes well the applicant is approved to adopt one of boxers and everyone will go meet the dog(s) they're interested in adopting. Once they find the right match they sign a contract and pay the adoption fee. The adoption fees range in price depending upon the age of the dog. The adoption fee is decided by the Board of Directors if the boxer is under a year old(it largely depends on the vetting costs). A year to 6 years is $250, and dogs over seven have a $175 adoption fee. If we ever get boxer mixes, those dogs have a $150 adoption fee.

Adopting a dog in Pensacola

Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.

Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.

Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
