MEET DIXIE: 2 YEARS OLD, ALL NATURAL, AND A FULL-TIME PROFESSIONAL SNUGGLER! Looking for a gorgeous Doberman girl who will love you unconditionally, follow you everywhere, and occasionally question your judgment when you ask her to go outside in the rain? Well, meet Dixie! Dixie is a beautiful 2-year-old, all-natural Doberman sweetheart with a whole lot of love to give and a personality that will keep you smiling! Let's talk about what makes Dixie so special! Dixie is all about the cuddles, affection, and being as close to her humans as physically possible.

Personal space is simply not in her vocabulary. If you wanted a dog who respects boundaries, you might want to keep scrolling! Sensitive Doberman princess? Oh, 100%. Dixie has that classic Doberman sensitivity, especially when it comes to the WEATHER. Rain? Hard pass. Wet paws? Absolutely unacceptable. Being asked to go potty when water is literally FALLING FROM THE SKY? The audacity. Dixie would much rather be curled up somewhere warm and cozy, preferably under a blanket with her favorite human. And honestly, can we blame her? At just 2 years old, Dixie has so much life, love, and adventure ahead of her! She's looking for a family who will appreciate her sweet personality, embrace her Velcro Doberman tendencies, and understand that sometimes a princess simply does not wish to get her paws wet. If your dream dog is a beautiful, dog-friendly, affectionate Doberman who doubles as a personal space heater and professional cuddle companion, Dixie might just be your girl! 2. Delilah

Adult · Female · German Shepherd Dog / Terrier / Mixed · 15 mi from Brooklyn Park

Meet Delilah, a gentle, easygoing girl whose idea of a perfect day involves belly rubs, cozy couch time, and being surrounded by people who love her! This 4-year-old German Shepherd mix weighs 70 pounds and has a heart as big as her love for snuggling. Delilah is a true couch potato who would much rather relax with her favorite humans than go on a long hike or run a marathon. She enjoys leisurely walks, especially when there is plenty of time to sniff and explore and is happy with a couple of short walks each day.Delilah is wonderful with children of all ages and is calm, patient, and gentle when little ones come by to pet her.

Read more about Delilah

She also gets along with other dogs, especially those who are laid-back and respectful of her space. She enjoys playful outings with canine friends but prefers not to roughhouse, and rowdy, reactive, or overly enthusiastic dogs can make her feel nervous. She has also lived with cats in foster homes and reportedly ignores them, making her a potential fit for a home with feline friends. At home, Delilah is quiet, house-trained, and wonderfully content to spend an evening lounging on the couch with her people. She loves belly rubs, affection, and kibble, and she’s recently started discovering the fun of toys! She’s still learning how to play and beginning to get the hang of it. She may not climb into your lap, but she will happily rest her head or a paw against you to stay close. Just be prepared to share the couch, because Delilah is perfectly capable of claiming the whole thing!Delilah does have some separation anxiety and takes medication to help manage it. She may get into a little mischief while you're away, such as relocating your shoes, but she does not need to be glued to your side. She simply likes knowing someone is home and can eventually settle down for a nap when left alone. She is not crate-trained and is uncomfortable with being crated, so her future family should be prepared to accommodate her without relying on a crate. And one more thing about this princess: Delilah is not a fan of wet paws! A little drizzle may earn you a very judgmental look as she wonders why anyone would expect her to venture outside in such conditions. She will happily wait for better weather if given the choice.Delilah would love a home where she can enjoy plenty of companionship, gentle affection, and a relaxed daily routine. A family with multiple people would be especially nice, and another calm, compatible dog could be a bonus, though she doesn't need a canine companion to be happy. If you're looking for a sweet, low-key friend who will happily trade adventure-filled days for cozy evenings and endless belly rubs, Delilah might just be your girl!If you are interested in Delilah, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Adult (5 years) · Male · Great Dane / Mixed · 25 mi from Brooklyn Park

Meet River a 5 year old Dane X. River is a gentle giant with a heart as big as he is. This cat-loving Great Dane mix has white twinkle toes and a lover’s soul through and through.

River is on his way to us from Louisiana, where there are far too many dogs and very few humans who care. The dogs there are just trying to survive each day, with only the rescuers to look out for them. River has been waiting in rescue for his forever home for far too long, and he is exactly the kind of dog UDR strives to help.

Read more about River

When he arrives, River will be fostered in a home with other Danes, so he’ll have friends to enjoy and keep him company. He is crate and house trained, rock solid, and has truly been there, done that. He will be going through heartworm treatment once he is with us, but we don’t want him to wait any longer. We would love to find his happily ever after soon, even while he is in treatment. River has spent his life far to long waiting and we know moving him to our rescue was the right thing for him. Let's find him a forever home. He is so deserving!!!!

If you adopt River, you will probably say you don’t understand why he wasn’t scooped up by another family. And you will be so thankful it was you. Interested in meeting River? www.uniteddobermanrescue.org

6. Milo

Adult (1 year 5 months) · Male · Poodle (Standard) (medium coat) · 11 mi from Brooklyn Park

Meet Milo!

Milo is the newest member of the Underdog family, and we’re excited to get to know this fun-loving, energetic boy! So far, we’ve discovered that Milo loves spending time with his humans, playing with his favorite toys, and keeping himself entertained by tossing his toys around and then fetching them. This clever boy knows how to have a good time!

Milo already knows some basic commands, including sit, paw/shake, come, and stay. He’s also 100% house-trained and will ring a bell to let you know when he needs to go outside. What a smart cookie!

Read more about Milo

Friendly doesn’t even begin to describe Milo! Whether you’re an old friend or someone he’s meeting for the very first time, Milo wants to say hello. He loves people and is always ready to make a new friend.

At around one year old, Milo is still a young pup with plenty to learn. He’ll benefit from continued obedience training, especially when it comes to leash manners and walking skills. He’s also working on some typical young-dog behaviors, such as counter surfing and barking when he gets excited or wants to express himself. With time, consistency, and positive reinforcement, Milo has so much potential to become an amazing companion.

This active boy loves going on long walks where he can sniff all the wonderful smells the world has to offer. Squirrels don’t seem to distract him too much, but bunnies definitely catch his attention! When it’s time to play, Milo is a big fan of fetch, balls, and durable chew toys.

Milo is looking for a person or family who can keep up with his energy, provide structure and training, and include him in an active lifestyle. He’ll thrive with someone who has the time and patience to help him grow into his best self while enjoying all the fun and adventures life has to offer.

In return, you’ll get a smart, playful, affectionate companion who will fill your days with laughter, love, and plenty of tail wags.

Could Milo be the missing piece in your family? ❤️

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

7. Scooby

Adult (5 years) · Male · Doberman Pinscher · 25 mi from Brooklyn Park

Scooby was saved with just HOURS LEFT after landing on the euthanasia list. This handsome boy was running out of time, but someone saw that his life was worth saving. Now, we get to show the world what an incredible dog he truly is. And honestly? Scooby might just be the whole package. This boy is potty trained, knows how to listen, follows directions, and is eager to learn. He’s treat-motivated and can pick up new commands in just 2–3 repetitions when treats are involved. He walks beautifully off leash with his person and enjoys getting out for adventures, including hikes. Scooby gets along with other dogs when given slow, proper introductions.

Read more about Scooby

He’s also living proof that a big dog doesn’t have to make a big fuss about everything. He ignores his foster’s chickens and remains calm around other animals, even when other dogs are barking. When something catches his attention on a hike, he’ll stop and observe until he’s satisfied there’s no threat rather than immediately reacting. Inside the home? He’s a dream. Scooby isn’t destructive, enjoys a good chew stick, and simply wants to be near his person. But here’s where this big guy will steal your heart… Scooby is a certified LOVE BUG. He wants to be petted on his nose and head all day, every day. He’s happiest just being close to his human, soaking up affection and reminding you that sometimes the best part of life is having a loyal companion by your side. Think about it. A dog who listens, learns quickly, enjoys adventures, can coexist peacefully with other animals, knows his manners, and wants nothing more than to love his people. This is the dog who was almost out of time. Scooby deserved more than the final hours he was given. He deserved a chance to be someone's best friend, hiking buddy, couch companion, and forever shadow. Now he needs someone to give him the one thing rescue cannot promise forever: a home of his own. Could that be you? If you're looking for a wonderful companion to welcome into your life, please consider Scooby. He has so much love to give, and his next chapter deserves to be filled with safety, adventures, affection, and the promise that he will never have to wonder if his time is running out again. Scooby is ready for his happily ever after. Let's make sure this boy's story ends with a family of his own. Adult (6 years 1 month) · Female · Bluetick Coonhound (short coat) · 4 mi from Brooklyn Park

Blair is a 6yr old female hound. We were told she is a purebred bluetick. She has lived with the same family since she was a puppy, but at no fault of her own, she is coming into rescue. Does well with all adults and children! Ignores cats. She is a very sweet dog. Enjoys being outside, but also loves cuddling and napping. She has never hunted. She has some of the longest ears we have ever seen! So velvety soft, how can you resist!!! She is very calm for being a hound. You can tell her "I love youuuuuuuuuuuu" and she will respond with a low, pitched howl back telling you she loves you too, so adorable!! Her foster mom has nothing but good to say about her!!!! She was a star when she visited resident's at the local nursing home for Halloween dressed as a big spider!

Adult (8 years) · Female · Labrador Retriever / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 4 mi from Brooklyn Park

Bella is approximately eight years old (maybe younger) and is likely a Labrador mix. She listens well, does amazing with a two year old son, (in the advocates home) and she is good with dogs. She does seem to leave cats alone. Bella is crate trained. If you can see the video it does look like Bella loves to play!

Bella lived her whole life outside in a kennel and a family friend would throw bags of dog food over and left them for her every couple weeks. The lady abandoned her with an elderly lady who couldn’t walk out to the kennel she was kept in. She is the sweetest thing ever, despite being neglected.

10. Walter Blackwell

Adult · Male · Rottweiler · 11 mi from Brooklyn Park

About MeMeet Walter, a dog with a heart as big as his love for snuggles. Walter is the perfect mix of playful and mellow—he’s always up for a walk or a romp outside, but just as happy to curl up on a pile of pillows and nap by your side.Walter is leash trained and potty trained. He’s respectful of items that are not toys—but he does love his chew toys! He’s a friendly guy who gets along well with other dogs (he would also do fine as a solo dog). He has not been around children and would probably do best with older, considerate kids. His future family should not have cats or smaller dogs. Walter loves people and bonds quickly, often becoming your loyal shadow around the house.Having spent some time in impound, Walter is still working through a bit of anxiety about being left alone.

16. Beijing

Young (4 months 6 days) · Male · Labrador Retriever / Rottweiler / Mixed (medium coat) · 4 mi from Brooklyn Park

Meet Beijing — the sweetest boy who wants to give you all of his kisses! Beijing is a 4-month old Rottweiler/Lab mix. He is very smart and has a lot of energy to share!

Beijing is an affectionate little guy who just wants to be close to his people. Whether inside or outside, he will be your loyal companion. He is always ready for ear massages and belly rubs. He is ready to be your snuggle buddy.

Read more about Beijing

He’s house trained, crate trained, and loves having space to run, play, and let out his abundant puppy energy! At this stage of puppyhood, he still needs a productive outlet for chewing, so the more chew toys and toys to keep his brain busy, the better! We have been working on walking with a leash, and he is a fast learner. With more practice, he will be a great walker. A fenced yard would be great for him to get all of his energy out! But once Beijing decides it is “bedtime,” he will go right into his kennel and sleep through the night!

On our walks, we haven’t introduced Beijing to other dogs yet. He has politely noticed them and would like to make friends. He might do well in a home with other dogs to play with, but with enough exercise and attention, he would be a good solo dog too.

Beijing has a lot of love to give his fur-ever family!

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:

Young (4 months 4 days) · Male · Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat) · 4 mi from Brooklyn Park

Meet Bali!

Look at that face! Bali is a sweet 4-month-old golden-red boy ready to find his forever home, and he’s already won over everyone he’s met.

Personality: Bali is a total love bug who adores every person and every dog he meets. Strangers are just friends he hasn’t cuddled yet! With his big, soulful eyes and a head tilt that will melt your heart, he’s hard to resist.

Size: At 23 pounds, Bali is a little chunk, and growing fast. He’s got that sturdy, solid puppy build, with a white bib and sweet floppy ears that haven’t quite decided whether to stand up yet.

Read more about Bali

Routines: He’s kennel trained and sleeps quietly through the night for 7-9 hours, so you can actually get some rest. Potty training is a work in progress, and he’s learning a little more every day. With consistency and plenty of praise, he’ll get there. Bali loves getting in the car & sits nicely in a bed in the backseat. He confidently jumps in & out of the car, and walks really well on-leash for his age! He is also starting to bell-train at the back door and will always go outside to potty when he is given the command. #2 is a little more difficult, but he has been nudging the bells or sits and waits by the back door. I think he will be really easy to fully potty train, as he is very intelligent.

Perfect for: Active families, singles, or couples who want a social, affectionate companion. Bali would do great with other dogs in the home, and he’s ready for puppy classes, long walks, and lots of couch snuggles (he’s already mastered the cozy blanket spot!).

If you’re looking for a cuddly, easygoing pup with a big heart and plenty of room to grow, Bali is waiting for you. Meet him!

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $625.00

18. Ambreta

Adult (1 year 6 months) · Female · Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) · 4 mi from Brooklyn Park

Ambreta is a gentle, affectionate gal who adores people and enjoys being part of whatever you’re doing. Born around April 2025, she’s great with other dogs, however she does like a minute to get to know them before the party starts. She also has a knack for knowing what the other dog needs. At her first training class she met a very timid pup. She came in soft, helped him build his confidence and within a short while they were playing like best friends.

Read more about Ambreta

Indoors, she’s a cuddlebug who's always ready to roll over for belly rubs. Outdoors, she shows off her signature move: stretching out flat like she’s flying and low crawling across the yard (self belly rub).

Ambreta is always up for a road trip, she rides well in the back seat. She occasionally pokes her head forward to say hi, but doesn't try to claim the front seat. She loves walks (because her person is there). She does want to explore everything, but she is progressing well with her leash skills. She has had no accidents. She is not a huge fan of her kennel, mainly because we are not in there with her. However, she is progressing every day. She now goes in it when we bring her to it and only protests for a minute or so the injustice of having to be away from us. (it is getting less and less as she is realizing she won't just be left in there forever)

She is excited to find a family who will love her just as much as she’ll love them.

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $585.00

19. Brandy

Adult (5 years 7 months) · Female · Doberman Pinscher · 25 mi from Brooklyn Park

Meet Brandy, a stunning 5-year-old, CAT friendly, AKC red Doberman beauty who is every bit as sweet as she is beautiful!

Brandy has spent nearly her entire life devoted to one person. Since she was just 10 weeks old, she lived with her elderly human as his companion, and in true Doberman fashion, she took that job very seriously. Unfortunately, her owner recently had to move into assisted living, and his family made the difficult decision to find Brandy a new home where she can receive all the love, attention, and companionship she deserves.

Read more about Brandy

Brandy is a typical Dobe when it comes to her home and her person. She bonds closely with her human and will absolutely let strangers know she is there when they enter her territory. Once she knows you, though, you'll quickly see the sweet girl behind that beautiful red exterior.

Brandy has done well with the other dogs in her home. Any introductions to dogs or other pets should be done slowly, correctly, and with plenty of time for everyone to become comfortable.

Brandy has spent the last five years being someone's loyal companion, and now she's looking for someone who will be hers. She deserves a home that understands the devotion, intelligence, and protective nature that comes with loving a Doberman—and, most importantly, a family ready to make her part of their world again.

This red beauty has so much love and loyalty left to give. Could Brandy be your girl?

22. Klaus

Adult (2 years 10 months) · Male · Doberman Pinscher · 25 mi from Brooklyn Park

Meet Klaus! Handsome doesn't begin to cover it. This sweet, approximately 3½-year-old neutered Doberman is a gentle soul with a heart as big as his ears are perky, and he's ready to find the family he's been dreaming about.

Klaus loves people of all ages, and he's a total pro with kids. He even has a 4-year-old human buddy who thinks he hung the moon. He's equally smooth with other dogs, getting along with both boys and girls, though he'd really love a female canine companion to share the couch with. Fair warning: Klaus is not a fan of cats, so his forever home needs to be cat-free.

Read more about Klaus

Klaus is a smart cookie, too. He knows his basic commands and has an excellent recall, so when you call, he comes running (probably with a goofy grin). He's never possessive of his food or toys, and he is affectionate to the core, the kind of dog who will happily lean into you for one more cuddle.

He's up to date on his vaccinations and is currently being treated for allergies. Like any good student, Klaus has one subject he's still working on: leash walking. With a little patience, structure, and continued training, he'll be strutting down the sidewalk like a champ.

Klaus has so much love to give. All he needs is a family who will offer patience, guidance, and most of all, a permanent place to call home. Could that be you?

This handsome bully mix is around 3 years old, weighs 68 pounds, and has mastered the art of being both a goofy best friend and a devoted companion.Rupert is completely house-trained, crate-trained, and an all-around gentleman in the home. He happily trots into his crate for a treat, settles quietly, and has never had an accident in his foster home. He knows several commands, including sit, shake, down, and wait, and walks very well on a leash. He loves to train, especially if there is cheese involved.

Read more about Rupert

While Rupert can be a little cautious when meeting new people, he doesn't take long to warm up. Offer him a hot dog or toss a ball his way, and you'll likely have a friend for life. Once you've earned his trust, Rupert's affectionate, loyal nature shines through. He loves being close to his people and would make an incredible companion for someone who appreciates the devoted personality that guardian dogs are known for.Speaking of balls, BALL. IS. LIFE. Rupert's favorite hobby, favorite toy, and favorite pastime all involve a ball. Whether he's playing fetch, showing off his catching skills, or simply lounging in the yard chewing on his latest prized possession, Rupert is at his happiest when a ball is nearby. Future adopters should be prepared to maintain a healthy "ball budget" for this enthusiastic collector! Rupert also enjoys squeaking soft toys with his nose and carrying them around the house like they're his babies.Rupert has a medium energy level and is easy to satisfy with a daily walk, some fetch, and mental enrichment. After that, he's perfectly content relaxing beside his humans. He isn't vocal, doesn't struggle with separation anxiety, and has been wonderfully patient as he continues settling into foster care.Rupert's ideal home will likely be adults only and with someone who understands the unique qualities of guardian breeds. He would thrive with a single person or a couple who appreciates his loyal nature and is committed to providing the structure, boundaries, and consistency that help him feel confident and successful. Rupert is a smart, obedient dog who does best when he has clear expectations and a trusted person to guide him. When he is with the right human, he is one of the easiest dogs! He doesn't need a full social calendar, he just needs some quality play and relax time with his trusted people. Rupert would do best as an only pet or with a compatible canine companion after a proper introduction. He coexisted and played beautifully with a 5 month old foster puppy in his foster home and has made a few other canine friends.Rupert's foster family describes him as sweet, loyal, and an absolute ham. He loves rolling in the grass, dramatically flopping onto his back for belly rubs. He also will rarely turn down a hug invitation! If you're a confident adopter who appreciates a dog with a thoughtful heart, a playful spirit, and enough loyalty to last a lifetime, Rupert may be the perfect match for you.If you are interested in Rupert, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250. 24. Chase

Young · Male · German Shepherd Dog / Terrier / Mixed · 15 mi from Brooklyn Park

If you’re looking for a handsome German Shepherd mix with a playful spirit, a love for adventure, and a serious appreciation for squirrels, Chase might be your guy! At approximately 1 year old and around 65 pounds, Chase is an energetic young pup who is excited to experience everything the world has to offer.Chase can be a little shy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly and has had no trouble making himself comfortable in his foster home. Once he settles in, he is a sweet and affectionate boy who enjoys cuddling with his people. He is generally quiet, although he will bark occasionally, and he has done well being left alone without any issues.Outside is where Chase really comes alive! He loves exploring, playing fetch, playing keep-away in the yard, and occasionally enjoying a good game of tug with a stuffed toy.

Read more about Chase

He especially loves chasing squirrels, and one of his funniest habits is jumping up a tree in pursuit of one! Chase has medium to high energy and does well with a few shorter walks each day along with playtime in the yard. Because he is an active working breed, Chase will need a secure fenced yard where he can safely get additional exercise. He has not tried to escape his foster's fence, but he does like to jump, so a taller fence would be preferred.Chase is house-trained and does a nice job settling down in the home, although he will happily help himself to the trash if it is left unattended. He is not currently crate-trained, and his foster family has been working on helping him become more comfortable with a crate. Chase is still learning his manners and can be a bit of a naughty youngster. He may jump up or grab at clothing when he gets excited, but he is eager to learn and responds well to patient, consistent guidance.Chase has not yet been introduced to other dogs, so we do not know how he would do living with one. When he sees dogs while out on walks, he gets very excited and may bark, pull, jump, or whine. His behavior appears more playful and enthusiastic than aggressive or hostile, but he will need appropriate introductions and continued work on his leash manners before sharing a home with another dog.Chase has also never lived with a cat. He has a high prey drive and becomes extremely interested when he spots cats outside, pulling heavily toward them, so a home without cats may be the best fit. His foster family cannot predict how he would respond to a resident cat.Chase has had limited experience with children. He has been petted by kids while out on walks and did well, although his initial shyness meant he was not particularly interested in lingering. Because he is an excitable young dog who is still learning his manners, any interactions with children should be supervised.Chase is a fun-loving, affectionate young dog who is ready to keep learning and growing with a patient family. If you can provide him with plenty of appropriate outlets for his energy, a secure fenced yard, and lots of positive guidance, Chase would love to show you what a wonderful companion he can become! If you are interested in Chase, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $450. 25. Xander

Adult (3 years 2 months) · Male · Doberman Pinscher (short coat) · 10 mi from Brooklyn Park

❤️ Meet Xander — A Heart That Never Gave Up

Some dogs come into rescue needing a second chance. Others remind us why second chances matter so much.

Meet Xander.

Xander came into Doberman Rescue Minnesota about five months ago after being rescued from a heartbreaking situation of cruelty and neglect in Texas. We can only imagine what this boy endured before his life changed, but what we do know is that he has shown us something pretty extraordinary.

Xander never lost his ability to trust.

Read more about Xander

With time, patience, good food, kindness, and love, this handsome boy has slowly come out of his shell. He has gained healthy weight, completed his heartworm treatment, and is looking better than ever. But his greatest transformation isn't what you see on the outside. It's the happy, confident, loving dog emerging on the inside.

And what a dog he is!

The Xander Rundown

Xander is an exceptional boy who is proving that his past does not define his future.

Dog Friendly: Gets along wonderfully with both male and female dogs in his foster home.

Kid Friendly: Has been great with children.

People Lover: Enjoys human companionship and has a wonderfully trusting nature.

Smart Cookie: His foster is a professional dog trainer, and Xander is learning his basic commands.

Leash Trained: Ready to enjoy walks with his people.

Kennel Trained: Comfortable in his kennel.

House-Trained: Knows his indoor manners.

Heartworm Treatment Completed: He's finished this important part of his recovery and is moving forward!

❤️ A Note About His Neuter

Xander is not yet neutered. Based on veterinary recommendations, we need to wait approximately 6–12 months following completion of heartworm treatment before proceeding.

This is an important part of allowing his body to fully recover, and his future family will need to work with the rescue and veterinary team regarding timing.

What Xander Is Looking For

After everything he's been through, Xander deserves a home where he will never again have to wonder where his next meal is coming from, whether someone will be kind to him, or if he is safe.

He would love a family who will continue building on his training, give him opportunities to learn, and include him in everyday life.

He has shown us that he can live happily with other dogs, enjoy children, and form trusting relationships with people.

Most of all, he deserves consistency, security, and unconditional love.

The Beautiful Thing About Xander

It's hard not to get emotional when you think about where Xander started and where he is today.

A dog who experienced cruelty and neglect should have every reason to be afraid of the world. Yet here he is, offering affection, trusting the people around him, learning new things, and embracing the kindness he receives.

His body has healed. His weight is healthy. His eyes are brighter. His personality is shining through.

And somehow, through everything, his heart remains enormous.

Dogs have a remarkable ability to forgive, to trust, and to love again. Xander is a beautiful example of that resilience.

He doesn't need someone to rescue him anymore. He needs someone to love him for the rest of his life.

We know his forever family is out there. And when they find each other, we hope they understand just how special this boy truly is.

Xander, your hardest days are behind you. Your best days are still ahead. ❤️

This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog.

Please read all adoption steps and policies carefully on our website. http://dobermanrescueminnesota.com/adoption-steps/

Qualified adopters are within the approved adoption area, and Adopter will be requested to visit this foster dog at the foster family home. Our foster families are generally located within a 250 mile radius of Minneapolis, MN.

26. Asiago

Puppy (2 months 28 days) · Female · Great Pyrenees / Mixed (medium coat) · 4 mi from Brooklyn Park

My name is Asiago and I am a 8 week old Great Pyrenees mix. My foster mom tells me I’ve got a face that melts hearts and I sure know how to use it to my advantage!! I’ll admit I’m a little spoiled in the snuggles department and love getting in close for some kisses. My spunky side comes out during playtime and when I’m outside following my nose, exploring the backyard. I'm still really young, but this whole potty training biz doesn't sound too hard- I think I'll have it down in no time! I don’t think walking on a leash will be too hard since I aim to please, but I have yet to test it out. I’m still snoozing with my siblings and I’m not sure how much I’ll like being in a kennel but I bet lots of treats will help! I’m looking for a playful and loving family (kids are great too) who has a heart as big as mine!

27. Lacy

Puppy (4 months 10 days) · Female · Golden Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 4 mi from Brooklyn Park

Lacy is a sweet, playful and curious 3 month old golden retriever mix and is looking for her forever home. She’s your typical puppy, full of energy and curiosity, with lots of learning still to do, but she is making great progress and picking things up quickly!

Read more about Lacy

Lacy loves people and enjoys being close to and interacting with her humans. She loves giving kisses and following her foster parents around the house to see what they’re up to (especially if it involves making food). She’s a playful girl who enjoys all kinds of toys, and when she’s ready for some downtime, she loves chewing on bones and treat puzzle toys. Lacy is also a very smart and food-motivated girl. She responds well to training and knows sit, lay down, and kennel up.

She enjoys playing with other dogs and is excited to have canine friends around. Like most puppies her age, she is still learning appropriate play manners. She is in the phase where she likes to nibble hands, clothes and just about anything she can reach. She’s learning that people aren’t chew toys and is working on redirecting that puppy energy toward toys and chews.

Lacy is also still building confidence when she encounters new people, sounds or things in her environment. She may bark when something catches her off guard or she isn’t quite sure about it, but she typically warms up quickly once she realizes everything is okay.

She is doing really well with her crate and potty training! Lacy sleeps quietly in her crate overnight without accidents. During the day, she spends a few hours at a time in her play pen without accidents. She is continuing to learn potty training and does well throughout the rest of the house when given frequent potty breaks and appropriate supervision.

Overall, Lacy is an affectionate and playful puppy who loves being part of the action. She has a fun, curious personality and is already showing how smart and eager to learn she is. She’ll bring plenty of kisses, laughs, and puppy adventures to her forever home!

Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $625.00

At 74 pounds, she’s a beautiful, sturdy girl, but don’t let her size fool you… she’s really just a gentle cuddlebug who wants nothing more than to be close to her people.Tracey is fully house-trained, well-mannered, and enjoys the freedom of roaming the home. She’s an easy companion, quiet, calm, and happiest curled up beside you or tucked under a cozy blanket. She’ll gently paw at you for attention, make adorable little vibrato noises to say “notice me,” and give the softest huffs when she’s unsure and needs comfort.

She is strong, healthy and has no known medical concerns or needs at this time.Tracey is interested in other dogs and may be happy with a low-energy canine sibling, but she cannot live with cats. Adopting a large dog in Brooklyn Park

Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.

Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
