Four Legs Good describes the 8+ year-old pup as affectionate, playful, and goofy. The rescue says she loves people, car rides, snuggling, adventures and even kayaking. Cookie also knows basic commands and walks well on a leash.
The rescue says Cookie would do best as the only pet in a home with someone who has big-dog experience. Older children would make great playmates, and a fenced-in yard for zoomies and sunbathing would be a bonus.

12. Skye
Husky · 1 mi from Spring Lake Heights

COURTESY POST: Rescue Ridge does not know the temperament of this dog first hand.
Meet Skye• Breed:
Husky/Malamute
• Sex:
Female
• Age:
8 years old (DOB: August 2017)
• Weight:
90 lbs
• Color:
White and tan
• Eyes:
Beautiful blue eyes with a unique little star-shaped marking in her right eye.
Skye is a beautiful soul with an even more beautiful personality. She has so much character, is incredibly loving, and has the sweetest way of looking into your eyes that will absolutely melt your heart. She loves snuggling, belly rubs, and spending time with her people. She's happy, playful, and ready to be someone's loyal best friend.
Read more about Skye
The Good:
• Fully potty trained
• Great with people of all ages
• Affectionate, playful, and loves attention
• Does not chew on furniture, shoes, or household items
Things to Know:
• Skye can be selective with other dogs, so slow introductions are important, and she may do best as the only dog in the home.
• She does not do well being crated or confined alone in a room.
• As a large Husky, she's tall enough to reach tables and counters, so food should never be left unattended.
• She gets excited on walks and pulls on the leash. She's always been more of a yard dog, so she'll benefit from someone willing to continue working with her leash manners. She's very strong!
Skye came into my life nearly a year ago when her owner asked me to care for her temporarily before moving to Asia. Sadly, they never returned, and she has been with me ever since. This decision is incredibly difficult because Skye has become such a special part of my life. Unfortunately, I will be relocating to Florida and am unable to take her with me.
I'm looking for a loving, committed home where Skye can spend her golden years surrounded by love, patience, and plenty of belly rubs. She has so much love to give, and I'm confident she'll make an amazing companion for someone willing to give her the chance she deserves.

Please click here for our location and visiting hours. The JSAC has careful policies on the placement of young animals, dominant breed dogs (Rottweilers, Shepherds, Akitas, etc) and we give preference to homes in the Eastern PA, New Jersey, Southern New York and Northern Delaware region (please note: we do not ship animals). We prefer homes in the region so that we can be a resource for the animals and their adopters. These policies and procedures are in place to protect everyone involved and are very common when rehoming animals, whether through a shelter or a rescue group. We do not have "same day" adoptions. Rather, an application for an animal is reviewed to ensure that 1) the home has taken good care of their other animals * 2) The animal is permitted in the home and 3) that it is the right home for the right animal (choosing dog that likes cats if cats already in household, etc..). Typically this process takes 24-48 hours. If a dog application is approved and there are other dogs in the home, we have the two (or more) dogs meet; many times if necessary.

Adopting a dog in Spring Lake Heights
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
