1. Bandit
Young · Male · Carolina Dog / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat)

Meet Bandit!
Bandit is a 1 year old, neutered Carolina dog and Labrador mix who was saved from euthanasia in a high kill TX shelter. He has been fostered for 3 months in Lebanon, TN. We are looking to rehome him in the next two to three weeks because our resident dogs do not get along with him despite our best efforts.
Read more about Bandit
He is eager to please, intelligent, playful, medium energy, affectionate and curious! He is good with people of all ages, including children 5 and older, and gets along well with dogs when he is properly introduced. We think Bandit would do well in a home with other dogs that match his playful energy. He would also do well in a home as a solo dog.
We do not recommend him for a home with cats given his prey drive towards small animals.
Bandit is house/potty trained, crate trained and walks well on a leash. He currently knows "sit", "leave it" and “wait” and will patiently wait at doors and for his meals. He is very treat motivated and responds well to a clicker during his training. He has received some obedience training and continues to learn new skills each week.
Bandit loves to play fetch, loves squeaky and chew toys and playing chase with his foster siblings.
Bandit is 41 lbs, in perfect health, neutered, fully vetted, up to date on all vaccines and rabies, heartworm negative, microchipped and current on heartworm preventive.
Foster will provide Bandit’s food, all vet records and rabies certificate for his new adopter.
If Bandit sounds like the kind of companion you've been missing, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Be sure to include your city and state so we can learn a little about where this handsome fellow might be headed for his next chapter!

8. Rambo
Adult · Male · Shih Tzu / Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed

Meet Rambo, a 13-pound Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix guy with a big personality and a heart that is just beginning to figure out how wonderful it can be to belong to someone. At around 4–5 years old, Rambo arrived at a small-town Tennessee shelter as a stray, and it didn't take long for him to stand out. He's a handsome, happy, good-natured little character who seems to be discovering, perhaps for the first time, what it means to be safe, loved, and somebody's very own dog.
Rambo is a work in progress in the sweetest possible way. He genuinely wants to please, is smart, and picks up on new concepts quickly.
Read more about Rambo
In just two weeks in foster care, he has made wonderful strides. He's learning household manners, responding to verbal corrections, figuring out doorways and curbs, and discovering that walks can be fun. He still looks to his people for reassurance when something is unfamiliar, but he's learning to trust that someone is there to help him navigate this big new world.
And then there's the affectionate side of Rambo that really makes you smile. He loves pressing his little head against you, and he's beginning to understand that cuddling isn't something he has to be suspicious of. Recently, his foster mom was able to hold him close for a long, peaceful snuggle. He would drift off to sleep, suddenly wake and look around as if checking that everything was still okay, then settle right back in. It was one of those little moments that tells you just how much this boy is learning to let his guard down. He's not completely relaxed yet, but every day brings a little more progress.
Rambo has embraced the comforts of home, too. Soft blankets, fluffy pillows, cozy beds, and toys have quickly become some of his favorite things. He has a crate he considers his own little safe place, and if he decides a toy is especially wonderful, he'll carry it right inside. He's also learning that a little structure goes a long way. His foster family has found that giving him a designated pillow to settle on helps him calm down when his excitement gets the better of him. He can get a little mouthy when overly excited or too familiar, but he is responding to gentle, consistent verbal correction and learning better ways to interact.
He is doing well with the other dogs in his foster home, who have been helping him learn the ropes. One is showing him the fun side of being a dog, while another is keeping him mindful of boundaries. Rambo is still learning that food will be available regularly, so he does best eating separately to keep mealtimes peaceful. He's also a little nervous about stairs, but he's perfectly willing to let his favorite human carry him when needed. At the vet, he was a social, happy little fellow whose tail hardly stopped wagging.
We suspect Rambo may not have had much experience with the kind of patient, unconditional affection every dog deserves. He's still learning that he doesn't have to look out for himself all the time, that his bed will still be there tomorrow, and that a gentle hand can mean comfort instead of uncertainty. Watching him make those discoveries has been incredibly rewarding.
Rambo needs a person who will give him time to settle in, offer clear and consistent guidance, and celebrate the little victories along the way. In return, you will get a clever, affectionate, entertaining companion with so much potential and a growing desire to be close to his people. He's already making progress in foster care, and we think the right person will help him blossom even more.
Rambo may not arrive knowing all the rules of being someone's beloved little dog, but he's eager to learn. And just imagine how wonderful it will be when he finally realizes that he's home for good. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested. He is in Nashville, TN in a foster home and we transport to the northeastern corridor of states and have designated transport stops every weekend. We have been transporting d

9. Brittany
Young · Female · Beagle (short coat)

This beautiful purebred Beagle girl called Brittany is our pride and joy to offer to a Beagle loving family. Her story is sad and one that will make you sad and mad all rolled in to one roller coaster of emotions. A young newly wed couple were driving from their home in Chattanooga, on their way to a honeymoon in Nashville, TN. Out of the corner of their eye while driving, they saw a truck pulled over and pushing this girl out onto the side of the road and then drive away. They owned two dogs of their own and it broke their heart to see such meanness. She was in a desperate situation. They pulled over and took her in to their car and then started making calls to shelters and rescues in the Nashville area where they were destined to arrive in a few hours.

They got Critter Cavalry on the phone and we stepped up to take her in immediately and we would make sure she had a future family who would never do such a horrible thing as to abandon her. What we have found out with Brittany is that she is a happy and inviting girl who loves to play with other dogs and who loves to spoken to with kindness. She craves love which we are sure she got little of before. Her fav game is to chase a ball. She is young as in probably a year or 2 at the oldest and she weighs 26 pounds. She is being spayed 10/23 and has already started her shots and worming. She is picture perfect if you want a Beagle or small dog that is not tiny but resilient and fun and loving. We know she loves couches and dog company for playtime and hanging out. She’s housebroken and will definitely need a fenced yard to keep that Beagle nose safely within sight of your back door.

Meet Jumba, a lovable Great Pyrenees and English Mastiff mix who is ready to win your heart with his sweet personality and wonderfully balanced puppy energy! This handsome boy has a medium activity level and a special knack for knowing when it’s time to play and when he should settle down. He loves spending time with his people, whether they have two legs or four, and shows wonderful compassion while happily matching your energy. Jumba can turn his playful puppy mode on and off, so he won’t wear you out by demanding to play 24/7!
Read more about Jumba in TN
Jumba is actively learning his manners and daily routines, and he’s picking up good habits quickly. He is crate trained and is working on his leash skills. Inside his crate, he is generally calm and quiet, with most of his puppy vocals reserved for letting you know when he needs a potty break. He has also shown that he can be calm and relaxed when the moment calls for it. One of his most adorable quirks? Instead of sleeping in a typical doggy position, Jumba prefers to curl up in a classic cat-bun pose!
This social fellow loves meeting new friends and has enjoyed opportunities to meet people through his foster home and veterinary visits. He has also been exposed to other dogs and is eager to meet them, especially when there’s a chance to play! Jumba has met cats too, and has shown gentle curiosity around them. While he hasn’t had the opportunity to spend time around children yet, he would likely do well with dog-savvy kids ages six and up, who can appreciate that he’s a big puppy still learning about the world. He doesn’t seem interested in digging, and his barking is about what you’d expect from a pup.
When the weather is pleasant, Jumba enjoys being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine, and exploring everything the world has to offer. He’s also a fan of chicken nuggets! Car rides are still a work in progress, and he hasn’t quite decided they’re cool yet. He’s also not a fan of getting soggy, so keeping this boy nice and dry is highly recommended unless you’re prepared for a little wet-weather protest!
Jumba’s ideal home would be with a moderately active family ready to help him continue learning and growing, preferably with another friendly dog to be his companion and playmate. A 5-foot securely fenced yard would give him a wonderful place to explore, sunbathe, and enjoy outdoor adventures. Most of all, Jumba is looking for a family who will appreciate his affectionate nature, respect his need for downtime, and help him become the best dog he can be. With his sweet heart, social spirit, and impressive ability to balance fun with relaxation, Jumba is sure to bring plenty of love and laughter to his forever home!

Read more about Pleekly in TN
Meet Pleekly, an adorable Great Pyrenees and English Mastiff mix who is ready to find his forever family! This mild-mannered, eager-to-please pup is a quick learner who is excited to discover the world and make his people proud. He’s working on his leash skills and learning household routines, but he catches on quickly and is happy to learn. One of the sweetest things about Pleekly is how he likes to walk right alongside you, hopping his way down the path while giving your hand an affectionate lick. He is crate-trained, has a medium activity level, and comes with a handy little on/off switch for puppy mode, so you can enjoy his playful side without being entertained by puppy antics every waking minute!
Pleekly is a social guy who loves making friends, whether they have four legs or two! He has been exposed to other dogs and enjoys playing with new canine pals. Having another friendly dog in his forever home would be perfect, especially one who can show him the ropes. He has also been around cats and shows interest while remaining gentle in their presence. Although he hasn't met children yet, we suspect he could do well with them; because he is going to be a big boy, a home with dog-savvy children ages 6 and up would be the best fit.
When it comes to house manners, Pleekly is a pleasantly quiet pup, making about the amount of noise you'd expect from a puppy and generally staying quieter indoors. In fact, he mostly speaks up when he needs to go potty! He hasn’t shown any interest in digging (yet). When the weather is lovely, you'll often find him happily rotating between his doghouse and a sunny patch of grass, soaking up the fresh air and enjoying the simple pleasures of a beautiful day. And when it's time to settle down for a nap, Pleekly has his own adorable style: he prefers to curl up in the classic cat bun position rather than flop upside down like a typical pup. And offer him a chicken nugget, and you will have a friend for life!
Pleekly would thrive in a moderately active home where he can enjoy companionship, keep his mind and body busy, and continue learning at his own pace. A 5-foot securely fenced yard would give him a safe place to explore, play, and enjoy the sunshine. Pleekly needs a family ready to help him grow into the wonderful companion he's meant to be. With his sweet nature, eagerness to learn, and irresistible combination of puppy hops and hand kisses, Pleekly is sure to bring plenty of smiles and affection to his forever home!

14. Professor Knox
Adult · Male · Doberman Pinscher (short coat)

Professor Knox.... my oh my what a beautiful soul this Doberman is!!! What you feel from Knox when you meet him is hope and an energy that he wants to learn and grow in to a phenomenal Doberman. Born on Christmas Day of 2025 this sweet puppy had all the hope in the world of a great life ahead. Somehow the stable future got sidetracked and he was not treated well in his first adoptive home. What happened next was a kind young couple heard of his plight and need for a new place and eagerly took him home without doing all the homework on the needs of a smart Doberman. They could not give him the big fenced yard and the time that a Doberman of his caliber needs. They have tried to be what he needs but they realize he needs so much more. With love they are asking Critter Cavalry Rescue to help them find his forever home soon but with much scrutiny. This 70 pound boy at just 10 months must not be placed in hands that are not capable and knowledgeable of the breed. Professor Knox is a sweet soul that has no aggression or fear. He is still so innocent in his time to learn and a sponge to be shaped and molded in to greatness. Professor Knox is a boy that needs more time out and about in the world so that he can be a great Ambassador for his breed. He loves cats and has his "own" cat in this second home that he is in now. He needs a dog to play with . The current dogs in his home are old and over the excitement of youth. Knox deserves a youthful playmate. He is housebroken, crate trained and knows how to manage a doggie door. Professor is a lover and not a fighter but if someone he does not know comes to the house and he greets them, he will stand between the visitor and his owner. Natural Doberman character. He is truly not leash savvy at all. He will need a new owner to train him on that and perhaps a harness will work best. He is not a chewer but he will gather things from around the house and put in his dog bed. This boy has the nature of a protector and a lover. A smart dog that is the best of his breed. He is still young and learning and we want a Doberman savvy family to adopt him and polish his nature talents to the fullest shine!!!!

It has been a journey in this first year while in the hands of a few families. His destination is now in our hands at Critter Cavalry and we will be very careful and caring to find the perfect landing for him.

15. Reece
Adult · Male · Australian Shepherd / Mixed (long coat)

Our handsome boy Reese is an Australian Aussie mix boy who is approximately a year and a half old, weighs 38 pounds, and is fully vetted—he is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Reese has a friendly, easygoing temperament and gets along wonderfully with everyone, including children of all ages, other dogs, and even the cats. He is definitely a rare Australian Shepherd who does not display the usual alpha temperament that most males of his breed do. He is a happy boy that delights in going for car rides and going for walks with his person. We do ask that his new forever home have a secured and fenced yard. It is best for his breed who loves to explore and be active. We think that he is ideal for a first time dog owner, families with children over 5 years of age and certainly singles who want an adventure buddy in life. He can fit right in to so many different family lifestyles.

16. Dr Knox
Adult · Male · Cocker Spaniel (medium coat)

Meet Doctor Knox! And yes, he is every bit as handsome as his name suggests. This gorgeous blonde Cocker Spaniel has soft, wavy hair, a happy little wiggle, and a personality that lets you know he's arrived. He'll be turning 4 years old in November and weighs a healthy, trim 33 pounds. He's a wonderful age, past the puppy craziness but still young enough to enjoy plenty of playtime, walks, toys, and adventures with his people.Doctor Knox also comes with his own built-in home security system. He likes to announce when someone new comes around, so there's no need to spend money on a monthly alarm subscription.

Just keep his food bowl filled, his toy basket stocked, and remind him how handsome he is. He considers those perfectly reasonable household arrangements!Knox loves his toys, especially his chew toys, and enjoys his morning or evening walks. He is happy to entertain himself with a favorite toy and can often be found stretched out on his dog bed, contentedly passing the time. He's currently enjoying life in a foster home with other dogs and plenty of activity. He has opinions about his canine housemates and isn't a boy who takes much sass from anyone, but he's also learned to settle in and enjoy having company around. His story is a little sad. For nearly four years, Knox was the king of his castle and had a home and person of his own. Unfortunately, his owner eventually decided she no longer had the time to spend with him and surrendered him to rescue. It took him a little while to adjust to the change, but he's found his footing again and is showing everyone what a happy, loving boy he really is.What Knox wants most is a person or family who genuinely enjoys having a dog around. He loves his people and would do best with someone who understands the Cocker Spaniel personality: affectionate, clever, sometimes vocal, occasionally opinionated, and always full of character. He needs a kind, confident leader who will give him consistency, attention, and a place where he can feel secure and loved. If you've ever loved a Cocker Spaniel, you probably already know what makes these dogs so special. And if you've never had one, Doctor Knox might just be the fellow who introduces you to the joys of the breed. He's handsome, happy, playful, and ready to be somebody's special boy again. He's had a home once, and he'd really like to have one for keeps this time.If Doctor Knox sounds like the kind of companion you've been missing, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. Be sure to include your city and state so we can learn a little about where this handsome fellow might be headed for his next chapter!

* Check Out My Video Album Below! *
Meet Opal, an absolute love bug with the sweetest personality imaginable! Picked up by animal control as a stray in Georgia, Opal seems to know what it’s like to live in a home and be loved by humans, and she is more than happy to return that love tenfold. This gentle, affectionate girl adores attention and greets her people with pure joy every time she sees them. She loves cuddling with her humans and firmly believes that couches and beds are meant to be shared, so her forever family must be happy to welcome her onto the furniture!
Read more about Opal in NC
Opal is housebroken and learning basic commands. She has a medium activity level and absolutely LOVES being outdoors, especially exploring her yard and digging little dens to bury her favorite toys. She also enjoys spending time with her people and is always happy to soak up affection.
Opal is friendly with new people and has done well around other dogs, including playing in the yard with the resident 40-pound pup. She has grown especially close to her foster family's two children, ages 12 and 13, and could be happy in a home with or without kids or other dogs. She has met younger children on walks but hasn't shown much interest in little ones.
This sweet girl has a sensitive side when it comes to unfamiliar places and loud noises. Busy environments and passing cars can make her nervous, so she would do best in a quieter neighborhood. Opal's ideal home would have a 4-foot fenced yard where she can explore, dig, and hide her treasures. Most importantly, she needs a family who will shower her with love, include her in daily life, and happily share their couch and bed with her. Opal has so much love to give and will bring joyful greetings, endless sweetness, and plenty of snuggles to the lucky family who welcomes her home!

NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog.
Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

18. Jack
Adult · Male · Poodle (Standard) (medium coat)

Jack is a handsome 5 year-old, 60 lbs black Standard Poodle who is finally getting the opportunity to discover what it means to be part of a family. Originally his life started off being purchased as a puppy for one purpose — to be a breeding dog. He was never given the chance to live inside, curl up beside his people, learn the routines of a household or simply be someone's companion. He spent his years outside in a small pen and requured to father many puppies. He never got to experience the life that a dog like Jack deserves. Now that chapter is behind him, and we are so excited about what comes next.
Read more about Jack
Jack is incredibly loving, affectionate and smart. He has a wonderful temperament and truly enjoys people. There is a sweetness to him that makes it easy to imagine just how much he is going to blossom once he realizes that being someone's dog means so much more than simply being cared for. Although Jack has never lived inside, he is already showing us some very promising signs. He has been doing remarkably well with keeping his kennel clean, giving us a wonderful foundation as he learns house manners. And with the intelligence Standard Poodles are known for, we expect Jack to be a very willing student once he understands what is being asked of him. There will be plenty of new things for Jack to discover — household sounds, doors, furniture, routines and all the little parts of family life he has never experienced. He may need patience and guidance along the way, but he has everything we could hope for in a dog beginning this journey: intelligence, affection, a gentle nature and an enormous capacity to love. We can't help but think that Jack is going to be absolutely amazed by his new life with a family. A warm bed, a family to follow from room to room and someone who wants him beside them simply because they love him. The freedom to finally be a companion instead of a breeding dog. Jack has spent five years waiting for the opportunity to be someone's beloved family member. Now it's finally his turn. And we have a feeling this incredibly sweet, intelligent boy is going to be amazing at it. If you are interested in being this sweet boy's rescue family, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com

19. Puppy Winnie
Puppy · Female · Hound / Border Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Some puppies are simply easy to picture in your life, and beautiful Winnie is one of those special girl puppies. Can you picture a happy little face following you into the backyard, chasing a ball, exploring every corner, and then coming back to you because being near her people is really the best part? That is Winnie. She is playful without being wild, curious without being reckless, and affectionate without needing to be glued to you every second. She is a puppy who wants to be involved in life with her family.Winnie was born July 11 as one of twelve puppies to a beautiful red, scruffy Border Terrier mix mama.
Read more about Puppy Winnie
She has been raised in a wonderful foster environment surrounded by children, other dogs, and adults who have handled, cuddled, and socialized her from the beginning. Those early experiences have helped Winnie become a confident, loving puppy who is ready to continue learning with her forever family. We think Winnie will be an especially wonderful fit for a family who enjoys being together and wants a dog who can grow up alongside them. She would love a fenced yard for those backyard adventures, a family willing to play fetch and teach her new things, and people who will appreciate her sweet, thoughtful nature. She is smart and eager to learn, so a family who enjoys training and watching a puppy discover her talents will have a lot of fun with her.Winnie is expected to grow into a beautiful 45–50 pound girl with a short coat. She is still very much a puppy, which means she is also in the “everything goes in my mouth” phase. Fingers are currently competing with chew toys for her attention, so we feel older children, 10+, would be the best fit. She will need patient adults who can give her consistent guidance and redirect that puppy enthusiasm toward appropriate toys. But underneath those puppy teeth is a girl with an enormous capacity to love. Winnie is thoughtful, affectionate, playful, and wonderfully curious. She is going to be the kind of dog who learns your routines, knows when it is time to play and when it is time to settle down, and eventually becomes the companion who seems to have always belonged there. If you are looking for a puppy who can be your backyard playmate, your adventure buddy, your student, your shadow, and eventually your best friend, Winnie may be exactly the girl you have been waiting for.Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com

20. Ghost Girl
Adult · Female · Australian Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Ghost Girl❤️ Ghost Girl is a sweet, silly, incredibly affectionate girl whose favorite place in the world is right next to her person. This Aussie/Cattle Mix girl is 2.5 years and weighs 30-35 pounds and she is the definition of a Velcro dog—she loves cuddling, being held, getting pets, and following her favorite humans from room to room. If you’re looking for a dog who truly wants to be your best friend, Ghost is your girl!
She has the cutest goofy side, too. Ghost loves running around the yard, playing chase, getting the zoomies, and doing her little spins when she gets excited. She’s also VERY treat motivated and will happily work for snacks!
Ghost is house trained and crate trained and would absolutely love a home with a secure fenced yard.
Read more about Ghost Girl
She’s much more of a backyard-zoomies girl than a long-walk girl—the busy outside world can sometimes be a little overwhelming for her, and she’s happiest running and playing somewhere familiar and secure.
Ghost would love to be your one-and-only pet and soak up all the attention for herself. Other dogs can make her uncomfortable, so a home where she doesn’t have to share her space with other animals will allow her to relax and be her happiest self.
She has lived with a toddler and newborn and absolutely adores her little humans. She has been incredibly loving and gentle with them. When meeting children she doesn’t know, she appreciates a calmer introduction rather than lots of excitement all at once, so a quieter home or one with older children would be a great fit. She also would do best as the only dog in the family and not sharing any spotlight with others. More than anything, Ghost wants her person. Give her a safe yard to run in, plenty of treats, a comfy place to cuddle, and someone to follow around all day, and she’ll give you an incredible amount of love in return. ❤️
Ghost is looking for someone who wants a loyal little shadow, professional cuddle buddy, backyard zoomie champion, and best friend all rolled into one. Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com.

21. Puppy Teddie
Puppy · Male · Hound / Mixed (short coat)

Teddie — A Little Explorer With a Big Heart Some puppies are perfectly content to sit back and watch the world go by. Teddie is not one of those puppies! Teddie came into this world as one of Biscuit’s very special 12 puppies. His momma was found as a stray living in the woods and trying to survive by eating from neighborhood garbage cans. Thankfully, a kind family took her in during the middle of May, only to discover that she was expecting a very big family of her own. On July 11th, Biscuit gave birth to 12 puppies, and foster mom Celeste took an entire month off from work to make sure their new little family had everything they needed.
Read more about Puppy Teddie
Now Teddie is ready to take his next adventure—finding his forever family. This boy is smart, curious and always ready to see what’s happening next. He loves to run, explore and investigate his surroundings, and you can almost see the wheels turning in his head as he discovers something new. He is the puppy who will happily follow you on an adventure and make sure he doesn’t miss a thing. But after all that exploring, Teddie has another favorite activity: being held like a baby. That’s when his softer side comes out. Once he has had enough running and playing, he is perfectly happy to curl up in your arms and soak up some love. There’s something pretty irresistible about a puppy who can go from little adventurer to cuddle bug in a matter of minutes. Teddie is expected to grow to around 45 pounds, making him a wonderful medium-sized companion when he is all grown up. He is already turning heads with his handsome black and tan tri-color coat—and those eyes! Just look at them. They have a way of making you feel like he is looking straight into your heart. Teddie has the intelligence to keep you entertained, the curiosity to keep life interesting and the affectionate nature to make you wonder how you ever lived without him. He is expected to do well with dogs, cats and children, making him the kind of puppy who could fit beautifully into many different types of families. His life began with a momma who was simply trying to survive. Now Teddie has the chance to grow up knowing something very different: what it feels like to be safe, cherished and completely loved. He’s ready for his forever adventure. Maybe it’s one that starts with you. ccrnewengland@gmail.com

22. Ginny Lynn
Young · Female · Poodle (Standard) / Mixed (medium coat)

Meet Ginny Lynn — a sweet little girl who is still learning that being someone’s dog is a pretty wonderful thing. ❤️
Ginny Lynn is a 45 pound, one-year-old Poodle mix who, along with her 2 brothers, was abandoned when a tenant left them and her grey Poodle dad, behind at a cabin in the woods. They were actually all 4 left in crates and had to wait to be discovered and rescued many days later. They had known both indoor and outdoor life before that, but suddenly being left behind like that was a pretty confusing and scary experience for these pups.
Read more about Ginny Lynn
So, it’s no surprise that Ginny can be a little sensitive when everything around her is new. She may not be the one who marches through the door on day one like she owns the place. She’s more of a “let me look around, figure this out and make sure everything is okay” kind of girl.
And honestly, once she decides everything really is okay, she is pretty amazing and sweet.
She has been living in a house now and is doing well. She is discovering the joys of being comfortable, having a soft place to curl up and getting to spend his days around people. She’s learning that a house isn’t something to be unsure of—it’s where the good stuff happens.
Ginny Lynn is smart, loving and eager to learn. She just needs someone who understands that confidence doesn't always happen overnight. Give her a little patience, a predictable routine and some kindness, and you’ll get to watch this sweet girl come out of her shell.
Once she settles in, expect a happy little companion who wants to be part of things. She has a gentle nature and a sweetness about her that makes you want to reassure her that she has finally landed somewhere good.
And maybe that's what Ginny needs most—not anything fancy, not a perfect home, just a person who will let her take a breath, get comfortable and realize that this time, she's not being left behind.
This girl deserves to know what it feels like to be somebody's dog. To have a favorite bed. A favorite person. A routine. A home. And most importantly, to know that when her person walks out the door, they're coming back.
We think Ginny is going to be awfully easy to love. ❤️. If you are interested in giving this girl The Good Life.... Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com asap. Tell us what city and state you live in when you are inquiring about her.
PLEASE NOTE: Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region. Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.
23. Ruger
Young · Male · Poodle (Standard) / Mixed (medium coat)

Ruger — A Sweet Boy Discovering How Wonderful Home Can Be
Ruger is a 40 pound, one-year-old Poodle mix whose life didn’t get the easiest start. He was abandoned along with his brothers and their dad when a tenant left them behind at a cabin in the woods. Like his brothers, Ruger spent his early life outside with very little experience of the world beyond what he knew.
Read more about Ruger
Because of that, adopters should expect Ruger to be a little shy and sensitive at first. Moving into a new home, meeting new people and learning a whole new routine is a big change for a boy who hasn’t always had the chance to experience the world in a safe and secure way. He may need a little time to settle in and figure out that this new life really is his.
But once Ruger gets comfortable, you get to see what a truly sweet boy he is. ❤️ He has been living in a house now and is doing wonderfully. He has discovered some of the very best things about being an indoor dog—especially finding a soft place to curl up and getting comfy on the bed!
Ruger is a loving, happy and smart little guy who is eager to learn and be part of his family. He may be sensitive, but underneath that initial shyness is a sweet boy who wants to trust, wants to please and wants to be loved.
He doesn't need someone to expect him to walk into a new home and immediately act like he has lived there forever. He just needs someone who will give him a little patience while he adjusts, reassure him that he is safe, and let his personality come out at his own pace.
Once Ruger settles in, expect a happy, affectionate, smart little companion who is ready to enjoy all the things he should have had from the beginning—soft beds, loving people, a safe home and a family of his own.
Ruger has already come so far. Now he just needs someone willing to give him the time and love to take that final step into his forever home. ❤️
Few are interested in making Rugers dream family become your family , please email Critter Cavalry Rescue atccrnewengland@gmail.com

24. Odin
Adult · Male · Great Pyrenees / Golden Retriever / Mixed (long coat)

Meet Odin (Odie for short)! Our handsome Great Pyr/Golden Retriever mix boy who was born on September 25, 2024 which makes him just now 2 years old. At 80 pounds, this boy is not only handsome but also a great Leader in his own mind. He is everything people love about the breeds—loyal, intelligent, devoted, and deeply connected to his owner and his favorite place is right by his people, whether he's joining you on an outdoor adventure or relaxing nearby after a long day.
Read more about Odin
Odie is looking for a home that can provide strong, consistent leadership (to keep his protection nature in check), a large securely fenced yard, and plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy life. He thrives when he's included as part of the family and forms strong bonds with those he loves.
He gets along well with other dogs and carries himself with a calm, confident presence that naturally makes him a leader among his canine friends. Beneath his majestic size is a playful, affectionate soul who simply wants to love and be loved. There are some training tips that we will share that will keep Odin from picking a person and "owning" them in the family. We want him to feel that he belongs to everyone in the family and not guard his "one and only" person.
Odin has so much heart to give and is ready to find the forever family he's been waiting for. If you're familiar with and appreciate the Great Pyrenees breed, Odie could be the loyal best friend and faithful companion you've been searching for. Could Odie be the missing piece of your family? Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com Mention where you live when inquiring.

She does pull a little on the leash because she gets excited about all the wonderful things there are to see and smell, but she loves going for walks and is eager to explore. With some consistent training and a confident handler, we think she will learn those leash manners in no time. And Maple is definitely not looking for a life spent sitting on the couch all day! This girl has energy and she wants to use it. She loves hiking, running with her person, going for long walks, and simply being outside enjoying the world. A securely fenced yard is required because she loves having the freedom to safely run and explore off leash. Her recall still needs some work, so her future family will need to continue working with her on that. The perfect family for Maple would be active people who enjoy getting outside and want a four-legged adventure buddy. She would be wonderful for someone who hikes, runs, walks regularly, or simply wants a dog who is excited to join them in an active lifestyle. She could thrive with a single person, a couple, or a family with older children. But here’s the best part about Maple: once she has had her exercise, explored the world, and spent time with her people, she is perfectly happy to settle down and cuddle. Brutus and Skye love meeting new people, making friends, and soaking up all the attention they can get. They do wonderfully with children, get along with other dogs, and are comfortable around cats, too. They are happy to join you on outings and adventures, especially if a pup cup is involved! They also enjoy being groomed, basking in the warm sunshine, relaxing on a cool floor, and listening to a little Boz Scaggs. Their favorite snacks include dried beef jerky, dried salmon skins, and, of course, just about any tasty treat you care to offer. These two are not diggers or escape artists, and their foster reports no behavioral concerns at all. They are simply sweet, gentle companions who want to be included in family life and loved by their humans as much as they love each other.
Brutus and Skye would thrive in a quiet home with a yard and a 4-foot fence, where they can enjoy peaceful days, plenty of affection, and the comfort of being together. Their foster describes caring for them as a wonderful experience and says that if there weren't already 11 dogs at home, this lovely couple would absolutely be staying! It's easy to understand why. Brutus and Skye are the kind of dogs who touch your heart with their gentle spirits, unwavering devotion to each other, and desire to share that love with their people. They are an ideal pair for someone looking to welcome two exceptionally sweet, easygoing companions into their home. 27. Bailey Girl
Adult · Female · Australian Shepherd / Mixed

Meet Bailey Girl— All She Needs Is a Chance ❤️ Bailey Girl is a beautiful 27-pound female 18 month old Mini Aussie mix with a story that will break your heart—but the little dog she is becoming will put it right back together.
Read more about Bailey Girl
Bailey Girl was abandoned during extremely hot weather when someone placed her inside a school playground with no way to get out. Tragically, she wasn’t discovered until the following Monday when the school reopened. Someone had reportedly witnessed her being left there but did not notify anyone. We may never understand why she was abandoned that way, but we do know one thing: her story does not have to end where it began.
Today, Bailey Girl is safe in a loving foster home, and she is doing beautifully. ❤️ It took her only a couple of days to begin trusting her foster, and now she has become her little shadow. She does well with other dogs and cats, walks on a leash, and can even be left loose in the home with the other dogs while her foster is at work.
Bailey Girl is still working on becoming completely house trained, but she is extremely intelligent and continues to learn. She enjoys having a yard where she can run and as her confidence and trust have grown, she happily comes back to her foster when called.
Because Bailey Girl can be somewhat fearful of children, we believe she would be happiest in a home without children, where she can feel secure and develop a strong bond with her person or family.
Bailey may need a little more patience in the beginning than some dogs. You have to earn her trust—but once you do, something very special happens. She begins to understand that she is safe. She follows you. She looks to you for reassurance. And before long, you realize you haven’t just gained a dog—you’ve gained a devoted little sidekick.
A word of advice please. Bailey Girl needs someone who won’t expect everything from her on the first day. She needs love, patience, kindness, and time. Give her the opportunity to understand that you aren’t going anywhere, and she will give that love and devotion right back to you. ❤️ Bailey may very well become the dog you talk about for the rest of your life. Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you would like to make her a part of your world and life.
She has already experienced what it feels like to be left behind.
Now it’s time for this beauty to discover what it feels like to be chosen—and never abandoned again. ❤️
PLEASE NOTE: Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted. Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site. The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive. Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.com

28. Hayden in GA
Young · Male · Great Pyrenees (long coat)

Meet Hayden, a handsome Pyr with a heart as big as his paws! Hayden was found as a stray in Georgia and taken to an animal shelter before NGPR brought him into rescue. Since arriving in his foster home, he has shown himself to be an incredibly sweet, affectionate boy who loves attention of any kind. He is truly a love bug and a very good boy!
Read more about Hayden in GA
Hayden is leash-trained and highly receptive to training, quickly picking up new things. He is currently working on “sit,” “leave it,” “bed,” and “come,” and is eager to learn. He has a moderate activity level and would be a wonderful companion for an active family. Hayden gets along beautifully with other dogs, including his foster’s Great Pyrenees and Chihuahua, and would love a home with a canine companion or two. He has also been exposed to both indoor and outdoor cats. He is very curious about them and simply wants to play, so he would do best with cats who are comfortable around dogs and tolerant of his playful interest.
Hayden has been wonderful with everyone he has met and absolutely loves people and their attention. He hasn’t been exposed to children yet, but given his sweet and gentle nature, he is expected to do well with older kids. Hayden does bark occasionally, usually when separated from his people, but he responds well when asked to stop while indoors. He enjoys a balance of indoor and outdoor time, but what he loves most is being with his people. At night, he settles quietly on his dog bed on the floor and sleeps peacefully through the night.
Hayden’s favorite treat is peanut butter, which is sure to win you a few extra tail wags! This beautiful boy truly is the epitome of sweetness, and his affectionate personality makes him a joy to have around. Hayden’s ideal home would be with an active, loving family, another dog or two to share life with, and a 5-foot securely fenced yard. If you’re looking for a loving companion who enjoys being close to his people, gets along wonderfully with other dogs, and is ready to keep learning and growing with his forever family, Hayden could be your PYR-fect match!

29. Puppy Jay Jay
Puppy · Male · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

It was a hot Sunday afternoon, late in the day and a pick up truck approached the bridge going over the small river tributary. Some black dots were scurrying around like little squirrels that were not sure that direction to go. Soon it would be dark and the group would be in even greater danger. They were black Lab mix puppies. All around 15 pounds and all were covered in fleas and of course dirt from never having had a bath in their life. There were 7 and Jay Jay was one of those abandoned 7 pups. The man wasn't going to take them home. He wanted no part of them nor to be stuck with them at his place. A kind woman stepped forward and soon the news trickled down to Critter Cavalry's exceptional foster mom who took two of them in.
Read more about Puppy Jay Jay
Jay Jay is learning what air conditioning is like and what a good bath scrub down feels like as the warm water pours over his body washing away his past. He is a lucky pup and receiving love and good food and some normalcy that we are sure he never had before. He is good with other dogs and still hesitant to just go running up quickly to a new stranger. He wants to but he just cannot trust to do that yet. He will come to those that he knows. Two weeks is not enough time to reprogram a young soul that has never been a part of a family. But since he is young he will become new in all the ways of learning trust. He knows about pee pads and would love a fenced yard to run with true fun and free abandon any time his human can let him outside. This boy will be a 75 pound Lab when fully grown. We think he might have a touch of hound in him.... no Pitbull that we can see at all. We know nothing of his parents, just that someone carelessly threw his litter out of a car or truck on that bridge and sped off and never looked back. Jay Jay is looking forward and we are encouraging him every day to learn a leash and harness can be his doorway to experiencing exciting new places and good fun walks. If you are interested in this handsome boy who is ALL BOY DOG, then write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com He is ready for a new home and neutered with all shots and microchip and dewormings done. Healthy, sweet and on his way to finding all the happiness that a new family is willing to give

Fluffy is a sweet, affectionate Pyr who came to NGPR from a North Carolina shelter as an owner surrender for an unknown reason, and he’s now ready to find his forever person. He is housebroken, crate trained, leash trained, and knows “sit,” with lovely house manners. A medium-energy boy, Fluffy enjoys both indoor and outdoor time, especially walks, playtime, and running and rolling in the grass. He is the most affectionate guy with the sweetest puppy-dog eyes and loves resting his head against your leg for pets. He’s also wonderfully silly, with a hilarious “boot scoot” run that will keep you smiling!
Read more about Fluffy in NC
Fluffy is shy when meeting new people and has not yet been exposed to children, so a home with respectful introductions and appropriate supervision would be best. He has done well with both male and female big dogs and could happily live with or without canine companions, although he might enjoy having a friend to play with. He is shy around cats but doesn’t bother them, and he has shown little interest in the resident rabbits (who are separated by a gate).
He doesn’t dig, doesn’t appear to be an escape artist, and is quieter than the average Pyr - he is generally quiet in the house unless other dogs start howling, at which point he happily joins the chorus! If you howl at him, be prepared for a full-on Fluffy serenade. His ideal home would be a semi-active family who will include him in walks and playtime, with either a canine buddy or plenty of attention from his people. A 4-foot fenced yard would be appropriate, or he can be a leash-walk-only dog. He would also adore lots and lots of toys! - Balls, bones, stuffies - he loves them all! Fluffy is a wonderful “beginner” Pyr who is silly, playful, loving, and simply wants someone of his own to love and be loved by.

Adopting a dog in Orange County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
