While our volunteers will try to respond to you as quickly as possible, it is helpful if you review the below information about our adoption process before emailing:LISTED BREED(S) & AGE: We are taking our best guess on age, breed, and size when fully grown, based on the puppy's/dog's physical appearance and what we might have learned about one or both parents depending on the situation. NOTE We rarely know a dog's exact age, nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. 3. Betsy
Senior · Female · Pit Bull Terrier / Terrier / Mixed · 87 mi from Albany

Name: BetsyAge: 9.5Current Weight: 65Rescued from: Texas*Adoption fee: $400Meet Betsy; also known as Betz Betz, Da Betz, Betz and quite possibly your new favorite potato. Some dogs make friends wherever they go. Betsy has practically made a career of it.She has visited nursery schools to help teach little ones about rescue dogs, spent time at multiple schools and children’s camps, and attended a large childhood cancer event. Through it all, Betsy has been a social, affectionate rockstar; making friends, collecting love, and showing people just how wonderful a rescue dog can be.That’s the Betsy we know and love.
Read more about Betsy
A sweet, friendly and very social girl who loves people, has been wonderful with children of all ages, and loves other dogs. She’ll make you smile just by being herself. And when her social calendar clears? She’s perfectly happy to return to her other calling: being a potato. Oh and Betsy LOVES to give kisses. Lots and lots of kisses if you will let her. Now a senior, Betsy has experienced far too much bouncing around through sad circumstances. A dog who has brought so much happiness to others deserves one final, wonderful home where she can settle in, feel secure, and spend her remaining years being someone’s cherished girl. There is one important part of Betsy’s story her future family needs to understand. Her family must be committed to preventing escapes, using a secure fence or leash, and carefully managing doors, gates, and transitions. Betsy has bitten in the past ( thankfully nothing too scary or serious) when she escaped and was running loose. This is serious, even though it is very different from the affectionate, easygoing dog we know in everyday life. When safely contained, ther are not any concerns. Her wonderful history with people and children matters but we want to be forthcoming regarding her bites. We want a family who understands both, and who can give her the structure and security she needs while appreciating the incredibly special dog she is.Betsy has also done very well during introductions to calm, stationary cats. Her response to cats who run or dart around remains uncertain, so a home with cats would need further consideration.Somewhere out there is someone with a soft spot for a senior potato, a secure home, and room in their heart for Da Betz. She’s spent so much of her life making friends. Now she deserves a family who stays. Betsy cannot be adopted or fostered into the state of Connecticut. To apply to adopt, fill out an application at https://snarrnortheast.org/adopt/PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR FAQs

Welcome Josie to CCPAL Rescue. Josie is a Chug (Chihuahua/Pug) puppy. She weighs 4 pounds and is 9 weeks old. She will be a small dog full grown. She should be 12 pounds or less. She is very sweet and has an adorable rounded head. She likes to be held, is good in a crate, goes on a wee pad and loves to play with toys. She was born at the Rescue. 8. Arlo
Young (2 years 4 months) · Male · Carolina Dog / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 71 mi from Albany

Meet Arlo!
A spirited approximately two-year-old Carolina Dog mix currently in Vista, CA, whose golden tan coat and affectionate personality make this 60-pound sweetheart impossible not to love.
Arlo is a people-loving, playful boy with an incredible enthusiasm for life! Whether he's greeting new friends, enjoying attention, or chasing his favorite toys, his joyful personality shines through. He loves walks, car rides, and playtime, and he's always ready to make someone smile. Despite having no formal obedience training, Arlo already knows "sit" and would enjoy learning more through positive reinforcement.
Read more about Arlo
Arlo is currently recovering from a car accident that caused ligament and tendon ruptures in a rear leg. Thankfully, he has no fractures, and his veterinarians are cautiously optimistic that his hard cast may allow his leg to heal. However, amputation remains a possibility if treatment is unsuccessful. His future family must be prepared for continued veterinary care, an uncertain prognosis, and potentially surgery. Otherwise, Arlo is remarkably healthy, neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations.
Arlo's affectionate nature is truly special! He adores people, welcomes friendly attention, and has no bite history. He's looking for an active, patient family who can support his recovery before gradually introducing the adventures he loves.
A family with older children or no children would be suitable, since his experience with younger children is limited. Arlo has reportedly become anxious around unfamiliar large dogs following previous attacks, although his reactions have not been independently assessed. His compatibility with other dogs remains unknown and thoughtful introductions are important. His compatibility with cats is also unknown, so a cat-free environment is recommended until assessed.
Arlo will benefit from consistent routines, positive reinforcement training, and patient guidance as he adjusts to family life. His house-training needs should also be assessed.
This lovable boy has so much affection, enthusiasm, and companionship to share. With understanding caregivers, Arlo can look forward to healing, learning, and enjoying life's everyday pleasures. Could your family be the one to help Arlo begin his next joyful chapter? To learn more about adopting Arlo, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com!

Shirlz is happy to jump into the shower with her humans and loves to drink out of the bathtub faucet like a cat. A leaf dancing in the wind can mesmerize her for a good long while.
Her inky black coat is gorgeous (and matches everything!) and her wide and innocently bright eyes are meant for showing love. This kiddy cocktail would be the cherry on top for an active family looking for a great companion! Cheers!
Puppies are soooooo cute, and puppy breath is THE BEST! But puppies are a lot of work and take dedication, patience, love, training, and real commitment to turn them into amazing adults. And a reminder that while puppies are undeniably adorable, they also represent a long-term commitment. Medium sized dogs often live 12-16 years, and we’re looking for a family that’s excited to love, guide, and care for this puppy through every stage of life – from playful puppyhood to his senior years. A friendly reminder that our adoption requirements, including enrollment in an approved puppy training class prior to adoption, are posted on our website at: cropsandflopsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs/adoption-policies
Shirley Temple’s top 3 priorities:
1. A FUN family who is looking for a realllllllly good more mature and very social puppy!
2. A family willing to continue to work on house-training. Shirley has come SO FAR in her limited time with us and just needs some gentle consistency to cross the finish line!
3. A family who is looking for adventures for a young pup with energy to burn! This effervescent little lady loves to be part of the action.

17. Bonnie
Puppy · Dachshund / Chihuahua (short coat) · 91 mi from Albany

Welcome Bonnie to CCPAL Rescue. Bonnie is a 4.5 pound Chiweenie. That is Dashchund/Chihuahua. She is 10 weeks old. She has a beautiful fade coloration from tan to black. She has a little longer body and one down and one sideways ear. She is good in a crate, likes to be held. She is learning the wee pad and gets toys and treats from our adopters. She will get grooming and nail trims at the rescue so she will be fine with that. She would be a great dog for a lover of this breed. A smaller yard would be fine. Dashchund and Chihuahua are typically vocal but if you raise as a puppy and correct her by saying “no” this should help as an adult. She would be fine in a doggy daycare as she is very social. People who have had this breed love it for the loyalty to their human. She is getting spayed and all her vaccinations at the Rescue. She is ready for her forever home. She would be best in a home with someone that doesn’t work all day everyday as she will need to finish up her puppy training. She would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She is currently in the CCPAL Rescue in Texas. She can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200 to move her to another state. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

He is very sweet and has an adorable rounded head. He likes to be held, is good in a crate, goes on a wee pad and loves to play with toys. He was born at the Rescue. 28. Moxie
Senior (9 years 3 months) · Male · Bichon Frise / Terrier / Mixed (long coat) · 71 mi from Albany

Meet Moxie!
A sweet nine-year-old Bichon Frise/Terrier mix currently in Granite Bay, CA, whose fluffy white coat, playful spirit, and affectionate personality make him a delightful little companion.
Weighing around 13 pounds, Moxie is a charming senior gentleman who knows how to appreciate life's simple pleasures. His favorite activities include leisurely walks, delicious meals, and soaking up all the pets and affection his favorite people can offer. When someone he loves walks through the door, his excitement is absolutely contagious! This little guy has a wonderful way of making everyday reunions feel like special occasions.
Read more about Moxie
Moxie enjoys a comfortable routine with morning and evening walks, regular meals, and plenty of opportunities for companionship. He's also perfectly content relaxing alone for short periods. While he takes his doorbell duties seriously and may announce visitors with a bark, he settles once he recognizes who's arrived.
This clever boy knows sit, stay, and lie down. Moxie has previously shared his space with a feline friend and is comfortable around cats. He's selective about canine companions, and his compatibility with children is unknown.
Moxie is neutered, microchipped, house-trained, and current on vaccinations. He has undergone knee and back surgeries and has a history of joint discomfort, but currently has no mobility concerns. He's carrying some extra weight and follows a prescription weight management diet. Regular grooming, dental chews, and gentle exercise help support his well-being.
Moxie can be protective around food and has occasionally nipped when uncomfortable with a visitor, so a family who respects his boundaries and practices positive reinforcement would be appreciated.
Above all, Moxie needs a loving family who will enjoy walks, playtime, and sharing affection with this endearing little fellow. He has so much personality packed into his small frame! Please note that we are currently accepting adoption applications from families located on the West Coast only. Could this lovable, fluffy gentleman be the walking buddy and affectionate companion you've been hoping to welcome into your life? To learn more about adopting Moxie, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com.

Adopting a dog in Albany
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
