1. Zara
Puppy · Female · Siberian Husky / Terrier / Mixed · 85 mi from Canton

Looking for a big, dainty, princess of a puppy? If so, stop scrolling and let me tell you a little bit about myself...My name is Zara, and I am a 10-month-old blue-eyed beautiful girl weighing in at around 55 lbs. (and likely to continue to grow a bit). As you can see, I am extremely cute and cuddly with silky soft and fluffy fur. You would be surprised how little I shed (for now, anyway.) I am told I am a husky mix. I look much more like a husky than my brothers did, but I surely don't act much like a husky. I don’t howl, dig, or try to escape. I am, however, a picky eater -- not just with food, but you also better feed me using my favorite bowl and I will only eat when I feel like it!Along with my two brothers, I was rescued from the streets of West Virginia.

We do all love being outside but certainly appreciate the beds, couches, covers, meals and treats we have become accustomed to too. But mostly we love our people!Favorite hobbies include walking, playing with plush toys, people and dog watching and relaxing. I love to play and often entertain myself by throwing my toys and zooming to get them. I like to make a game of taking a sock or slipper here and there, but I don’t destroy them. I am very interested in human food and will jump on the counter to make sure you didn’t forget anything but I promise I won’t jump on you. Other than that, for such a young pup I am calm, cool, and collected. Unlike other dogs my age I know what personal space is. I will let you cuddle me but won’t nag you for cuddles. I take treats so gently. I don’t know many commands or tricks yet, but I am such a good girl. A little training will go a long way. I don’t bolt out of the door or steps, I’m patient and know how to wait, and I’m getting better at drop it and leave it. I am amazing on a leash (if I do say so) ...just to name a few of my best qualities :)Things that need work: I’m friendly, but reserved when meeting new people (especially children). Everything is very new to me. The shelter I was rescued from said I don’t like cats, but my foster mom says I just look at them and don’t seem to want to chase. I’m interested in birds but haven’t explored chasing them.Things I’ve (mostly) perfected: I am house trained and crate trained. I’m very friendly, but need a moment to warm up with most people, and my foster mom has labeled me as a wonderful companion. If you are interested in having an all-around good girl, a sweet dog to adventure with, hug, play and walk with, apply for me today!Available through Paws Across Pittsburgh, Sprindgale, PA KL #16182

She’s excitable and enthusiastic, especially when meeting new people or dogs, and she loves BIG. With structure and guidance, she settles nicely and enjoys relaxing with her family.

She is comfortable being crated during the workday and sometimes will even choose to hang out in her crate with the door open. At night, she loves sleeping with her family.DJ is very devoted to her people and loves being involved in whatever her family is doing. She does best with clear boundaries, consistency, and plenty of positive attention. She needs a securely fenced yard, and if a secure yard isn't available, she will need to be constantly leashed when outside. DJ would do best in a home without cats or small animals like rabbits and chickens, as those types of animals naturally bring out her instinct to chase.DJ would likely thrive as the only pet in a home where she can soak up all the love and attention for herself. While she is wonderful with children, she would love to be the center of her family's world, so a home without young children—or possibly with older, dog-savvy teens—would be ideal. Her perfect family will appreciate a big personality, enjoy training, provide structure and exercise, and have plenty of love and attention to give her.DJ has so much love to give and is looking for someone who will give her the same in return. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and is available for adoption now. 11. Agar
Adult (2 years 3 months) · Male · Rottweiler (short coat) · 22 mi from Canton

I'm Agar a big handsome baby of a Block Head Rott, that is 2 and weighs in at 100 pounds. I should need about 10 more lbs, to get to my full weight. I have had a neglected 2 years. I was basically used to make puppies and kept outside. The person had a lot of dogs and sold me to a couple. I was covered in fleas and had lost some of my fur. The second couple kept me outside too. Now I am at the rescue, which I am thankful for. They gave me a good flea med and they died quickly. Then I had a medicated bath. Oh how good that felt. I have been neutered and vetted. I am in a big barn with my own couch and radio.

There is a door I can go outside into a kennel area. Then I get walks daily in a huge yard, for big me . I am very strong and need to learn to walk on a leash. I need overall training, because I have had none. I am too much, for the 70 year old lady I am with. A Rott lover that understands my breed, would be best to help me. A man would be great. I would love to hang out with the fellas in a barn or garage. I need a strong foster or adopter. I still think I'm a 10 pound puppy. I haven't really had a chance to bond to a person. If I could, I would be your best fan. I look forward to being in a home with someone to love me. It gets lonely out here. I don't expect much. I like being inside away from pesky bugs, but I do need a fenced yard to stretch my big body in. I am medium energy and entertain myself. I do love toys and balls. If you consider fostering me, you can start me in the right direction and get me ready for adoption, or keep yourself. What do you think, I will be your best bud. I'm ready to learn.

Helen is an adorable all natural 5-month-old female Doberman mix puppy who is ready to find her forever family.

Buck is almost 3 years old, is DNA tested, and guess what!?! He is exactly 50% GSD and 50% Great Pyrenees. What a fun combo for a dog!
He gets super excited when he sees me getting my tennis shoes on, or my ball cap because he knows it means we're going hiking. He's 100 pounds of lean handsomeness. LOL. He does well as a couch potato and is calm in the house on a normal quiet day. He is house trained, crate trained and does well with other non dominant dogs.
He loves playing fetch with any ball, and if you don't have time to play, Buck plays by himself. I'm looking for a home without young children because Buck does have herding/guarding tendencies.

Adopting a large dog in Canton
Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.
Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
