1. Grumpy

Adult · Male · Boston Terrier / Dachshund / Mixed · 85 mi from Canton

Meet Grumpy!Grumpy is an approximately 2-year-old, 15-pound, neutered male Dachshund/Boston Terrier mix with dapple and brindle markings, adorable tiny legs, a stubby tail, and a darned impressive underbite! He's kind of like a patchwork dog made of many different parts, and if you're looking for a unique and transportable best friend, you're in luck! Despite his name, Grumpy is a super affectionate little guy who truly enjoys being with people. He loves a warm lap, lounging in the sunshine (his favorite!), running around the yard, and taking his time sniffing everything along the way. He's also a smart little dog who enjoys learning new things! We're currently working on riding a skateboard, spinning, and "say please." He's been a pretty enthusiastic learner in our little training sessions! Grumpy is starting to show some interest in toys and is just beginning to figure out what play is all about. He currently lives in a foster home with other dogs and is dog tolerant, although he definitely has his preferences.

Read more about Grumpy

He's shown some mild interest in playing with his housemates, but people are much more his thing. He's also curious about the resident cat but hasn't been overly focused on her or attempted to chase her. Housebreaking and crate training are both relatively new to Grumpy, and we're making progress! Being alone is still a challenge for him, so he'll need someone who understands that these things take time and is willing to continue helping him learn.Grumpy would really appreciate a home where he can spend plenty of time with his people, enjoy some outdoor adventures, learn a few more tricks, and have a comfortable place to curl up at the end of the day. He's a funny, affectionate little dog with a ton of personality and is looking for his next adventure!Grumpy will be available for adoption beginning November 1st through Paws Across Pittsburgh (Springdale, PA 15144, KL#16182). Applications are being accepted now!

2. Ace

Young · Male · Boston Terrier / Chihuahua / Mixed · 85 mi from Canton

(Re)introducing Ace Ace is a ~2 year old, 17lb Boston Terrier/Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix who finds himself back on the market in search of a forever home. Ace was adopted this summer, but everyone realized it just wasn't the best fit for our guy. His adopters wanted the best for him and brought him back to us so that we can find him his match.Between fostering him and his adoption experience, we have a stronger understanding about what Ace needs to succeed.Ace can be described using a few "A" adjectives.ADORABLE - Duh, see his pictures for yourself. His soulful eyes, adorable face, and wagging tail - how can you not stop to stare at his cuteness?!AFFECTIONATE - If you are looking for a lap dog or snoozing buddy, Ace is your guy.

Read more about Ace

He will happily sit on or near you and soak up love.ANXIOUS - Dude is an anxious guy and needs a home that isn't loud or chaotic. He does fine meeting kids in public, but kiddos are a hard pass for day-to-day life.AGILE - True to the Jack Russell, he loves to parkour around his yard and family room. He thinks it would be cool if you put some agility equipment in your yard but just for fun - he is not interested in competition!Must Haves:QUALITY TIME - Ace is happiest when he's surrounded by his people and considers himself a professional lap dog. He will do best with a family that is home more often than not.RESIDENT DOG BUDDY - He requires another dog(s) in the home that is under 40lb. He is used to being with other dogs, and a home without another dog exacerbates his anxiety.EXPERIENCED DOG OWNER - We want someone who has solid dog experience. This cannot be your first rodeo, and it would be helpful if you have had experience with separation anxiety.NO KIDS - Young kids can make him nervous. We are seeking an adult-only home or one with teenage "kids" that will be less erratic in their movements.Ace is making progress with his potty training. He knows to go potty outside but is still marking indoors. That being said, he'll need a family committed to helping him build consistency and willing to use belly bands. With a regular routine and positive reinforcement, he'll continue to improve.Ace will make you earn his trust, but once you're in then you're his BFF. If you're looking for a loving, affectionate boy who will happily be by your side then apply for Ace today.Ace is neutered, up to date on core vaccinations, microchipped, and 4dx tested (negative for heartworm and lyme). 3. Rocky

Adult · Male · Boston Terrier / Dachshund / Mixed · 85 mi from Canton

Hi! I'm Rocky! I'm said to be a three year old mix of boston terrier and dachshund. I am 21 lbs and have a beautiful brindle coat on my long body with short legs.I am looking for my forever couch potato who will give me plenty of love and take me on a few walks.I am pretty good in the crate and going outside for potty but these are new things for me, so I might be a little hesitant. I'm a pretty calm dog but just figured out the game of fetch and am pretty good about bringing a little stuffed squeaky toy back. I don't know many tricks but I do a heck of a job balancing on my two back legs.I'm currently taking doxycycline for lymes but I take it like a champ twice a day. 4. Gracie Lou

Senior (13 years 10 months) · Female · Cairn Terrier (medium coat) · 24 mi from Canton

Meet Gracie Lou! Interesting fact about Gracie, she has never met a truck she couldn't take (at least in her mind!). She weighs 16 pounds, and she'll plant her feet and lunge at anything with wheels that dares to pass her and her human on a walk. As far as she's concerned, she's scared every single one of those bullies away!

She's a 13-year-old Cairn Terrier, a little chunky, and equal parts sweet and spicy. Gracie makes up her mind about people quickly, and you'll know pretty fast which list you're on. The vet and the groomer are on the wrong one. So is the cat. And half her foster siblings.

Read more about Gracie Lou

Gracie was very loved for a long time, but sadly, her person had to move into assisted living and Gracie couldn't make that journey with her. That's how she ended up with us, and if her terrier attitude is anything to go by, she has plenty of life left to live!

The basics:

Perfectly housebroken
Loves her walks, vehicles included
Has creaky knees, so a home without stairs would suit her best
Would rather be the only pet. She may tolerate others...or not. She's selective.
Will protest vet and grooming visits

Gracie is doing great for her age - some mild vision and hearing impairment, as expected. She would do best in a single-level home with someone who likes short daily walks, keeps a firm grip on the leash, and doesn't mind that she runs the place.

6. Adrian

Young · Male · Chihuahua / Mixed · 77 mi from Canton

Meet Adrian! ❤️

Adrian is a sweet, sensitive little guy who is still learning that the world isn't such a scary place! He's naturally shy and cautious, especially in unfamiliar situations or around new people, but underneath that timid exterior is an incredibly loving and affectionate pup.

Adrian may need a little extra time to warm up, but once he starts to feel safe, his cuddly side really shines! He loves being close to the people he trusts and is happiest when he can curl up beside someone for a little reassurance and affection.

Read more about Adrian

Adrian is looking for a patient, understanding family who will give him the time and space he needs to build his confidence at his own pace. He isn't the kind of dog who will necessarily run up to greet you right away, but watching him slowly come out of his shell and learn to trust is incredibly rewarding.

With a little patience, a gentle approach, and lots of love, we know Adrian has the potential to blossom into a wonderful companion. If you have a soft spot for the shy ones, Adrian might just be your perfect match! ❤️

7. Mae

Young · Female · Chihuahua / Jack Russell Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 77 mi from Canton

Meet Mae!

Mae is an adorable 1–2-year-old, 18 lb terrier mix with a sweet personality and plenty of puppy energy! She's fully grown at 18 lbs, but she's still very much a puppy at heart.

Mae can be a little shy when meeting new people, but she's made tremendous progress in a very short time! She's a gentle, submissive girl who gets along wonderfully with other dogs of all sizes. She's also great with older, respectful children.

Read more about Mae

Mae is crate trained and does very well in her crate, especially when she has a bully stick to keep her occupied! She also walks nicely on a leash and shows absolutely no reactivity toward other dogs or people she passes. She does get a little excited and pull on occasion, but she's working on her leash manners!

Her potty training is still a work in progress. She's excellent about holding it while in her crate and prefers to do her business outside on walks. However, she does need to be taken outside promptly after coming out of her crate to avoid accidents. With a consistent routine, we think she'll continue making great progress!

Because Mae still has plenty of puppy energy and curiosity, she does best when crated during times when she can't be actively supervised. Fortunately, she's quite content in her crate as long as she has something tasty to chew on!

Mae is wonderful with other dogs, but cats are a bit of a different story. While she can coexist with them, she does occasionally give chase. For this reason, we wouldn't recommend her for a home with cats unless they're exceptionally confident and completely unfazed by dogs.

Mae is already spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all core vaccinations, so she's ready to find her forever home!

Mae is a sweet, playful little girl who has already come such a long way in a short time. With a little patience, consistency, and plenty of love, we think she'll make a wonderful companion for a family willing to help her continue learning and growing! ❤️

in bed and doesn't make a peep all night long. She loves playing with toys, and will play fetch with a ball too. Dinner time is her favorite part of the day, and a nice nap on the couch is something she enjoys as well. She is almost potty trained, but still has pee accidents in the house if I'm not paying attention.. She is slowly warming up to being crated, but will still bark and get quite upset for the most part. I do sit near the crate with yummy treats, and when she quiets down, she gets a treat, which really works. ( I'll keep working on this....)

Please remember that adopting a smaller dog can be a 10-20 year commitment!! If you are interested in adopting Shivers, please go to pawsandprayers.org and fill out our non-obligatory application. Jelly is approximately 7 months old, weighs 20 pounds, and is said to be an Aussie/Doxie mix. His exact recipe may be a mystery, but the sweetness is undeniable!

He loves toys, wrestling with his foster sister, and snuggling up for kisses—which he happily returns. Loud noises can startle him, and being held and reassured helps him feel safe. He’s great with dogs, cats, men, and women, rides well in the car, and does well at the vet.

12. Moe

Young · Male · Chihuahua / Brussels Griffon / Mixed (short coat) · 77 mi from Canton

Meet Moe!

This handsome little guy is about 2–3 years old, and is basically 11 lbs of pure cuddles!

Moe is a very typical Chihuahua in the best possible way: he is an absolute cuddle bug who wants to be attached to his person at all times. He can be abit shy and standoffish at first, but once he warms up he is a complete velcro pup!

What’s a little unusual about Moe is that he seems to have a soft spot for the guys! Don’t worry, he’s no he-man woman hater. He loves the ladies too! But if there’s a dad in the house looking for a tiny best friend, Moe would strongly appreciate his application.

Read more about Moe

Moe is neutered, walks nicely on a leash, and happily does his business outside while on walks. He does have a tendency to mark indoors, so he currently wears a belly band while we continue working on getting him fully housetrained.

He gets along well with other dogs around his size and is pretty neutral when it comes to cats. Mostly, Moe just wants a cozy lap, plenty of affection, and a person he can follow around like a tiny four-legged shadow.

Moe is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all of his core vaccines. Now all he needs is a family to call his own!

Senior (11 years 5 months) · Female · Pug / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 22 mi from Canton

Two weeks of good foster care, and Daisy is improving big time. Gaining weight, hair is coming in nicely. Even her back legs are working better. Thank you Rose's Rescue for helping me to feel better!!
As always, Rose's Rescue is open to foster to adopt or permanent adoption of our animals
Hello world, my name is Daisy and I am a senior pug-chihuahua mix found stuck in a drainage pipe. If I could, I would tell you what happened to me, but I cannot. My rescuers say that someone had to place me in there as there was no other way I could have gotten in there. I am putting that all behind me now and moving forward.
I am 10-12 years old, weighing in at about 15lbs. My coat is a mess because of fleas, but things are much better now. I do have compressed discs in my spine, so my hind legs don't work as well as they should,
Still I am quite mobile and love to walk, investigate everything, nap, and of course eat! I am a loving and fun girl in need of a loving quiet home where I can lay in your lap for my final years.
They say my teeth are really bad and I am not spayed, whatever that is. Dental and spay are scheduled. I am looking forward to better teeth.
If you think you are the one that can give me the love and lap I need after such a traumatic experience, please fill out an online adoption application. I promise I will try to be a very good girl for you!

16. Bobby

Adult (3 years 1 month) · Male · Patterdale Terrier (Fell Terrier) / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (long coat) · 22 mi from Canton

Our
Bobby was found on the street, so matted that he had to be shaved to the skin, but also so emaciated, so weak, so starved, he could barely lift his head. He looked more like a carcass than a dog. His body scale score was a one. Usually when it’s that low, a dog’s organs start shutting down and they don’t survive. But not Bobby! He spent a week and a half at the vet, and he came to Rose’s Rescue the day he was released from their care.

Read more about Bobby

To say he’s made a remarkable recovery is an understatement! He gained weight steadily and before long, you could no longer see his ribs. His hair is coming back in so what once was bare skin is now covered with beautiful black fur.

Now Bobby is ready for new and much better adventures! He’s ready to chase balls and snuggle and soak up all the neck rubs he can get. He’s ready to patrol the years and keep it free from pesky critters. He’s ready to go for car rides and play with all the toys, and get as many treats as he can. He is ready to live his best life and will do so with gusto!

Bobby LOVES other dogs! He would love, love, love to have another canine pal (or more) to romp with. But be warned, he can already be high energy and very playful. If he teams up with another rascally pooch, it could mean crazy, over-the-top playtime!

Bobby is a crate-trained, and sleeps in a crate at night (in view of his foster mom’s bed) and is content in his crate while she is away.

What breed is Bobby? He very much looks like a Patterdale Terrier (rough/broken coat) in every way - size, body shape, ears, and even the unusual length of his tail. What’s more, he ACTS like that terrier breed 100%. But, that is not a breed that’s known to be found in this area, so with that in mind, it’s just a guess and frankly, we

have no idea what he is. In his picture from before he was shaved, he looked like a poodle, but his hair was so matted it was hard to say. His hair, so far, isn’t coming in curly but it’s too early to see that for sure. Maybe some schnauzer? For sure a lot of terrier in there, too, as that absolutely fits his personality.

If you are interested in adopting our miracle boy Bobby, go ahead and fill out our online application and we will see if you are a good match!

CAN YOU PUT A SMILE ON MS FREYA'S FACE!Freya here! One ear up and one ear down, I am a scruffy little terrier girl. Life has not been good to me in my 5 years, but things are looking up. 18. Dot

Senior · Female · Chihuahua (short coat) · 77 mi from Canton

Meet Dot!

Calling all Chihuahua lovers! This sweet senior girl is the quintessential Chi: slightly spicy, mostly sweet, and a total cuddle bug. ️❤️

Dot is the ultimate lap dog. She’s a laid-back little lady whose favorite pastime is napping, preferably on top of her person. Work from home? Perfect! Dot would be more than happy to keep your lap warm for the entire workday.

Read more about Dot

Dot is about 10 lbs, although she’s a little on the fluffy side and could probably stand to lose a pound or two. Luckily, she loves going for walks and does fantastic on leash! In fact, she may be the first non-leash-reactive Chihuahua we’ve ever met. She happily strolls along and ignores dogs passing by.

Dot is pad trained and mostly house trained, though she could use a little more guidance with the latter. She does great with dogs around her own size, although, in true Chihuahua fashion, she can get a little jealous when it comes to sharing her favorite person. She’s also neutral around cats.

If you’re looking for a tiny, low-key companion who takes her lap-warming duties very seriously, Dot might just be your girl.

Meet Lambchop! This adorable pup has a big personality and a wonderful mix of playful energy and lap-loving sweetness. Lambchop’s favorite things include squeaky toys, crinkle toys, fetch, tug-of-war, and zoomies around the backyard. Once he’s worn himself out, he’s happy to curl up on your lap for cuddles. Friendly and outgoing, Lambchop enjoys being around people and does well with other dogs, cats, and children over 8. A companion dog isn’t required, provided he has people who have plenty of time for play, attention, and puppy adventures. Lambchop is making great progress with housetraining and signals when he needs to go outside.

Read more about Lambchop Tuscarawas

His new family should continue a consistent potty routine and expect occasional accidents as he learns. He currently eats three meals a day and is always enthusiastic about treats! Leash walking is still a work in progress. Some days he’s eager to try, while other days he prefers backyard fetch. A securely fenced physical yard is required so he has a safe place to run and play while he builds confidence on walks. Loud noises can make him unsure, so his new family should focus on this area with patience and understanding. A calm, supportive home that can gently help him build confidence and feel secure will be the best fit for Lambchop. Lambchop has no known medical issues. His ideal family will embrace his puppy energy and provide daily exercise, positive-reinforcement training, and plenty of love as he grows. If your idea of a great day includes backyard games, puppy antics, and a tired little dog curled up in your lap, Lambchop might be your perfect match! Lamb chops adoption fee is $750, and he is being fostered in central Ohio. He has been neutered, microchipped, received his rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines, and started on heartworm, flea, and tick prevention.

20. Phoebe

Young (11 months) · Female · Chinese Crested-Hairless · 89 mi from Canton

Meet Phoebe, a spunky young Chinese Crested puppy who packs a whole lot of personality, affection and fun into her 14-pound frame! Phoebe believes life is better with squeaky toys, crinkly toys—and especially yellow toys! She loves playing tug-of-war, tossing her toys, wrestling and even playing fetch. When she isn’t busy having fun, this affectionate little sweetheart is happy to snuggle into bed with a favorite human or two. Phoebe enjoys long walks, playdates with small/medium dogs and splashing through rain puddles. Grass, however, is highly overrated in her opinion! She will walk through it when necessary, but she would much rather find a soft pillow than sit on grass or a hard floor.

Read more about Phoebe

Smart and eager to please, Phoebe is motivated by both treats and affection. She already understands “kennel,” comes when her name is called and is learning “sit”—provided an appropriately comfortable sitting surface can be found! Phoebe would thrive with a playful, similarly sized canine companion or with someone who spends plenty of time at home. She enjoys children, but because of her small size and enthusiastic personality, children over age eight would be the best fit. Large dogs may be overwhelming for her, and she is still trying to figure out exactly what cats are all about. A fenced yard would be wonderful but is not required. Phoebe uses pee pads and is continuing to work on her housetraining. She will do best with a consistent routine, a designated potty area and a family committed to helping her continue making progress. Her new family should also be prepared to maintain her regular bathing and skincare routine, as she can develop the mild acne commonly seen in young Chinese Cresteds. Fortunately, she is a cooperative little bathing beauty—especially when her favorite human joins her in the shower! With plenty of toys, cozy places to sit, cute clothes for chilly weather and people who will adore her, Phoebe is ready to bring nonstop smiles and affection to one very lucky family. If you’re looking for a playful, loving and wonderfully entertaining companion, Phoebe may be your perfect match! Phoebe’s adoption donation is $750, and she is currently being fostered in the Cleveland, Ohio area. She has been spayed, microchipped, received her rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza and Bordetella vaccines, started on heartworm prevention, tested negative for heartworms, and is on flea and tick prevention. 21. Penelope

Puppy (10 months) · Female · Shih Tzu / Mixed (long coat) · 89 mi from Canton

Meet Penelope, a happy, energetic young girl who will celebrate her first birthday on October 10th! Penelope loves people and enjoys the company of other dogs. She has a joyful, enthusiastic personality and approaches life with all the excitement and curiosity you would expect from a puppy. She loves Nylabones and other durable chew toys and is always ready to play. Because of Penelope’s energy and exuberant play style, she is best suited to a home without young children. She is still learning appropriate puppy manners, including how to trade an item she has for something of higher value. She can occasionally be possessive of food or special chews around other dogs, so these items should be carefully managed while her training continues.

Read more about Penelope

A young, energetic companion dog is recommended, provided the dogs meet beforehand and are a good match. Penelope’s enthusiasm may be overwhelming for an older or more laid-back dog. She has been around a dog friendly cat and does well with him. Penelope requires a securely fenced yard where she can safely run, play, and burn off her puppy energy. She is comfortable sleeping in her crate at night and resting there when her foster family is away. She also does well for the groomer and has no known medical concerns. Penelope is looking for an active, patient family that will continue helping her develop good manners while embracing her wonderfully happy puppy personality. With positive guidance, plenty of activity, and lots of love, this cheerful girl will bring fun and affection to her forever home! Penelope’s adoption donation is $750, and she is currently being fostered in the Central Ohio area. She has been spayed and microchipped and is current on her rabies, distemper/parvo, Bordetella, and bivalent canine influenza vaccines. She has tested negative for heartworms and is on monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention.

22. Cuddle Bug Dizzy

Adult (2 years 4 months) · Female · Dachshund / Mixed (long coat) · 24 mi from Canton

We did not name this little girl, but we are definitely going to roll with it for now. LOL Introducing Dizzy! New to Paws and Prayers, this sweet 23lb girl is proving to be an amazing velcro cuddle-bug lap dog! Ha! Two year old Dizzy is super sweet, and did wonderful during her medical exam, vaccines, etc today. Dizzy took about 3-5 days to get used to her new doggie brother in the home, so if you have current dogs and are interested in Dizzy, it may take a few days of introductions between a kitchen gate! (She is not a fan of being crated and will act likes she's dying in one.) lol She has been doing great with potty training, and seemed to really enjoy having a fenced in yard to run, play and go potty in!

23. Callie

Young (4 years 2 months) · Female · Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (medium coat) · 89 mi from Canton

Callie

If you’ve ever wanted a little shadow who thinks the best place in the world is right next to you, Callie may be your girl. This incredibly sweet, easygoing little lady is happiest when she’s with her person. Whether you’re relaxing on the couch, moving around the house, or settling in for a nap, Callie would love nothing more than to be right there beside you. Personal space is definitely not high on her list of priorities!

Read more about Callie

Callie can be a little reserved when meeting someone new, but give her some time and patience and you’ll get to see what a loving, devoted girl she really is. Once she decides you’re her person, she takes that job very seriously. She does well with other dogs, cats, and children over eight, although she doesn’t need another dog in her new home to be happy. Her favorite companion is definitely her human.

Callie has a nice medium-to-low energy level and is perfectly content with a quieter lifestyle. She is pee-pad trained and does not require a fenced yard. She would especially enjoy a home where her person is around much of the time, although she does fine when left alone. More than anything, she’s looking for someone who will appreciate having a loving little sidekick who wants to be part of their day.

Callie does have a heart condition that will require lifelong care, but we’ve worked hard to get her set up for success. She has been evaluated by a cardiologist, her treatment plan is in place, and she takes her medications like a champ. She will need to remain on her prescribed medications and supplements and have regular echocardiograms so her heart can be monitored. For the right adopter, it simply becomes part of the routine of loving and caring for this very special girl.

We would love to find Callie an experienced dog owner, ideally someone familiar with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and their needs, with a strong history of providing consistent veterinary care. In return, Callie has an enormous amount of love and companionship to give. She isn’t asking for much: a comfortable home, good care, patience when she first meets you, and most importantly, a person she can call her own.

Callie’s adoption donation is $675 and she is being fostered in Central Ohio. She has been spayed, microchipped, is current on her vaccinations, has been tested for heartworms and is on heartworm/flea/tick prevention. Callie has also had a dental cleaning and complete bloodwork.

25. Patrick

Young (4 years) · Male · Poodle (Miniature) (medium coat) · 89 mi from Canton

Meet Patrick!

Some dogs let life define them. Patrick never got the memo. Born with a deformity in his front left leg, Patrick has spent his entire life proving that different doesn't mean limited. He runs, plays, explores, and keeps up with his canine friends without letting his disability slow him down. It's simply the way he was born—and to Patrick, it's no big deal.

Read more about Patrick

Patrick is a handsome 3-year-old Poodle with a gentle heart and a quiet spirit. He absolutely loves other dogs and lights up when he has a canine friend to play with or nap beside. Whether he's exploring the yard, enjoying the fresh air, or relaxing after a fun play session, Patrick finds joy in the simple things. Like many puppy mill survivors, Patrick is still learning that people can be trusted. While he may be shy at first, beneath that timid exterior is a sweet boy just waiting for someone to show him that the world can be a safe and loving place. With patience, kindness, and a little time, Patrick's personality continues to shine a little brighter every day. His front leg has never caused him pain, and while he occasionally uses it for balance when standing, he has adapted beautifully.

Patrick doesn't see himself as different—and neither should you. His disability has never kept him from enjoying life, playing with his dog friends, or doing all the things dogs love to do. Patrick approaches house training the same way he approaches everything else—with determination. He continues to make great progress when kept on a consistent schedule and will thrive with a patient, understanding family committed to helping him continue his journey. Patrick's ideal home will have a securely fenced yard, another friendly dog (that loves to play) to help build his confidence, and a family that understands that trust is earned, not rushed. In return, you'll gain an incredibly resilient companion who reminds you every day that life's challenges don't define who we are.

Patrick's adoption donation is $625. He has been neutered, microchipped, received his rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza, and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworms and started on monthly heartworm prevention, as well as flea prevention. He has also had a dental cleaning. If you're looking for a dog who embodies resilience, quiet courage, and unconditional love, Patrick is ready to show you that sometimes the strongest hearts come in the smallest packages. ❤️

27. Pippa-ARR

Adult (5 years 7 months) · Female · Shih Tzu (long coat) · 89 mi from Canton

Meet Pippa, a sweet puppy mill survivor who is discovering just how wonderful life can be as a cherished family member. Her favorite place is curled up in a lap or snuggled close to her people. She may be a little shy when first meeting someone, but once she feels comfortable, her gentle and loving personality shines through. Pippa has a low-to-moderate energy level and enjoys daily walks almost as much as she enjoys cuddling. She generally prefers to potty while walking, although she is also accustomed to using a yard. Because she likes to keep her eyes on her person, she sometimes needs a little encouragement to wander far enough away to take care of business.

Read more about Pippa-ARR

Pippa does well with her housetraining when kept on a consistent potty schedule, but a patient and understanding home will go a long way toward helping her acclimate. Because she is still learning her leash skills, a secure, physically fenced yard is required for her adoption. This quiet girl is occasionally playful with other dogs and will sometimes pick up a toy, especially a good chew toy. She is comfortable around dogs of all sizes and could live either with or without a canine companion. Another dog may provide some reassurance when her family is away, but what matters most to Pippa is having people nearby. Mealtime is one of Pippa’s greatest joys! She celebrates with some impressive jumps but is learning to sit and wait patiently for her food. With continued gentle, positive reinforcement, she will keep building on everything she is learning in her foster home. After spending her earlier life in a puppy mill, Pippa is still learning that her people will always come back. She becomes anxious and may bark when left alone, so her best home will have someone there most of the time and be willing to help her gradually build confidence when home alone. She rests nicely in her crate while her family is home and is generally comfortable outside the crate when they leave. A calm, patient home committed to helping Pippa feel safe and secure will be rewarded with a devoted little companion who wants nothing more than to share walks, meals and plenty of snuggles. Pippa is being fostered in Cincinnati, Ohio, and her adoption fee is $625. She has been spayed and microchipped, received her rabies, distemper/parvo, canine influenza and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworm and started on monthly heartworm prevention. She has also had a dental cleaning.

Small dogs suit apartments and smaller homes, are easy to take along, and many live well into their teens.

They still need daily walks, play and training. Small dogs can be fragile, so ask the rescue how they are with young children, who can easily drop or step on them.
