If you are looking for a wonderful Lab to join your family then Otis is the ONE!!! This 9 month old 32 pound Lab boy is just like a sponge for love and he would be the best friend to all!!! Otis is a breath of fresh air when you meet him. His enthusiasm for life and his true desire to be friends with all the world is so joyful to watch. He has lived a rather desperate and limited life in the early months with a person who struggled on lots of levels. Despite the chaos of the early months, Otis is a fully engaged and happy dog. A teenager is what we would classify him in regards to human years and yet he is a quick study and certainly ready to graduate to a better home life and people who can guide him to become the smart and well mannered dog he has shown that he is so far.

He is pretty good on a leash considering no real practice till now and he is housebroken and crate training beautifully. He is surrounded by young children 6 years and above and loves every minute of their attention and hugs. We see this boy being a great running mate, walking partner, trail explorer and sideline soccer cheerleader for his family participants. Otis is a Lab and looks mostly all of that with nothing else. At his current weight of 31 pounds, he is destined to become a 50 pound handsome adult that will make his way in to your heart forever. Otis is a standout and a dog for all seasons and ages in a family's life. Thank you for considering this special boy. Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested. Read more about Oakley
Oakley is a soft-hearted girl whose happy tail and sweet smile are worth taking the time to earn. She may be a little shy when meeting someone new, but once she begins to feel safe, her affectionate personality starts to shine. Before long, you may find her happily wagging her tail just because you're sitting nearby and giving her a little attention. This lovely 2.5-year-old Lab mix weighs 46 pounds and has a moderate energy level. She enjoys leisurely walks, tasty treats, and one of her favorite pastimes, snuggling on the couch with her person. Oakley is housetrained, does well in her crate, and walks nicely on leash, making her an easy companion for daily routines. Oakley has done well with the other dogs and cat in her foster home. She has also been around chickens and a horse, which she simply ignores. New people and unfamiliar situations can make her timid and a little jumpy, so she will appreciate a calm, patient family that gives her time to settle in and build trust. She is still getting comfortable in her foster home, and there is likely even more of her sweet personality waiting to emerge. Oakley would love a quieter home where she can form a close bond with her people, enjoy daily walks and activities, and then curl up beside them for a relaxing evening. If you believe the best friendships are built with a little patience and a lot of love, Oakley may be the girl you've been waiting for. 8. Puppy Winnie
Puppy · Female · Hound / Border Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 35 mi from Lebanon

Some puppies are simply easy to picture in your life, and beautiful Winnie is one of those special girl puppies. Can you picture a happy little face following you into the backyard, chasing a ball, exploring every corner, and then coming back to you because being near her people is really the best part? That is Winnie. She is playful without being wild, curious without being reckless, and affectionate without needing to be glued to you every second. She is a puppy who wants to be involved in life with her family.Winnie was born July 11 as one of twelve puppies to a beautiful red, scruffy Border Terrier mix mama.
Read more about Puppy Winnie
She has been raised in a wonderful foster environment surrounded by children, other dogs, and adults who have handled, cuddled, and socialized her from the beginning. Those early experiences have helped Winnie become a confident, loving puppy who is ready to continue learning with her forever family. We think Winnie will be an especially wonderful fit for a family who enjoys being together and wants a dog who can grow up alongside them. She would love a fenced yard for those backyard adventures, a family willing to play fetch and teach her new things, and people who will appreciate her sweet, thoughtful nature. She is smart and eager to learn, so a family who enjoys training and watching a puppy discover her talents will have a lot of fun with her.Winnie is expected to grow into a beautiful 45–50 pound girl with a short coat. She is still very much a puppy, which means she is also in the “everything goes in my mouth” phase. Fingers are currently competing with chew toys for her attention, so we feel older children, 10+, would be the best fit. She will need patient adults who can give her consistent guidance and redirect that puppy enthusiasm toward appropriate toys. But underneath those puppy teeth is a girl with an enormous capacity to love. Winnie is thoughtful, affectionate, playful, and wonderfully curious. She is going to be the kind of dog who learns your routines, knows when it is time to play and when it is time to settle down, and eventually becomes the companion who seems to have always belonged there. If you are looking for a puppy who can be your backyard playmate, your adventure buddy, your student, your shadow, and eventually your best friend, Winnie may be exactly the girl you have been waiting for.Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com

9. Gidget
Adult (1 year) · Female · Chihuahua / Rat Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 47 mi from Lebanon

This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions.
Read more about Gidget
Gidget is a gentle little sweetheart who is learning that the world can be a wonderful place and that people can be trusted. With her long legs, soft, upright ears, and delicate features, she looks a bit like a tiny fox or baby doe. She may not rush into your arms just yet, but when she chooses to sit beside you or rest her head in your lap, it feels like a special gift. At about 14 months old and 16 pounds, Gidget is a Chihuahua / Terrier mix with a moderate energy level. She enjoys peaceful walks, a little playtime indoors, and finding a sunny spot to soak up some warmth. She also likes her Kong, puzzle toys, and tossing a tennis ball around. She is food motivated and clever, making her a fun little student for a family ready to help her learn. Gidget does well with a consistent potty schedule and has been trusted to roam the house without chewing or making a mess. Her crate is her cozy retreat, and she often chooses to go there on her own. She walks nicely on leash and frequently looks to her person for guidance. New experiences can make her nervous, especially large dogs and some men, so she will need patient introductions and a calm approach. When frightened, she may try to pull away, making secure equipment and a fenced yard or leashed outings especially important. Gidget currently lives happily with the resident cat. She would likely be best in a quieter home with people who enjoy daily walks and understand that building trust takes time. She has so much potential, and the family who gives her patience and encouragement will get to watch her confidence blossom. If you have a peaceful home and a little extra love to help Gidget discover how wonderful life can be, reach out to A.A.R.F. by text at 931-260-8018 or visit https://www.aarf-tn.com to start the application process.

10. Cammie
Senior (16 years) · Male · Schnauzer / Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed · 47 mi from Lebanon

CAMMIE is a courtesy listing, not in the AARF foster program, and we are posting online to help the owner find a home for them. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply.
Cammie is a devoted little companion with a heart full of love and a serious talent for snuggling. At 16 years old and about 14.5 pounds, this sweet boy has an easygoing personality and is happy to spend much of the day relaxing, but he can still be ready for a little play when the mood strikes.
Read more about Cammie
Cammie loves being close to his person and will happily follow you around to make sure he knows what you're up to. His tiny cropped tail wiggles at impressive speed when he's happy, and he loves curling up under your arm or nestling against your neck. Toss him a toy and he may bring it right back for a little game of tug.
Cammie has learned an impressive collection of hand signals, including sit, down, back and heel, and understands that raised hands mean the treats are gone. He is mostly housetrained, although he may occasionally have an accident if left too long. He is also a quiet companion who generally only barks when he hears something he knows is unusual. He loves car rides and prefers riding in the back seat.
Cammie is a people lover who has done well around dogs, cats, farm animals and children who are gentle with him. He is a little hard of hearing, but a clap or other visual cue gets his attention. At his age, he does have some medical needs, including dental care that should be discussed with his veterinarian.
Cammie would love a calm home with people who appreciate the joys of an older dog and want a loyal little shadow by their side. If this affectionate senior sounds like your kind of companion, contact A.A.R.F. at 931-260-8018 to learn more about Cammie and arrange a meeting.

Bringing a dog home to your cat
Tell the rescue about your cat: their age and how they react to dogs. A dog who has lived calmly with one cat may still want to chase a cat that runs.
Introduce them slowly. Keep them apart for the first few days and swap bedding so they get used to each other's scent, then let them meet with the dog on a leash, rewarding calm behavior.
Make sure the cat can always get somewhere the dog can't reach, like a high shelf or a room behind a baby gate, and keep the litter box and cat food out of the dog's way.
