1. Josie
Puppy · Female · Chihuahua / Pug (short coat)

Welcome Josie to CCPAL Rescue. Josie is a Chug (Chihuahua/Pug) puppy. She weighs 4 pounds and is 9 weeks old. She will be a small dog full grown. She should be 12 pounds or less. She is very sweet and has an adorable rounded head. She likes to be held, is good in a crate, goes on a wee pad and loves to play with toys. She was born at the Rescue. They took in a stray female and she was pregnant. This means the puppies get lots of attention and are very used to being in a loud and rowdy environment. Josie would be best in a home that the person doesn’t work all day every day. She needs to finish up her puppy training. Social pups make great adults and now is the time for her to spend time with her family and to go places and let people pet her. She is an AMAZING puppy. She would be fine with children. Due to her small size, we would like children to be 8 or older. She is getting her puppy vaccines and will have 3. She will then be ready for spay and adoption. She can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

Welcome Dudley to CCPAL Rescue. Dudley is a 5- pound Chiweenie. That is Dashchund/Chihuahua. He is 10 weeks old. He has a beautiful fawn and black fade coloration. He looks like Bonnie but he is a little taller and has down ears. He has a little longer legs and body. He is good in a crate, likes to be held. He is learning the wee pad and gets toys and treats from our adopters. He will get grooming and nail trims at the rescue so he will be fine with that. He would be a great dog for a lover of this breed. A smaller yard would be fine. He would be fine in a doggy daycare as he is very social. He was found as a stray. He is getting neutered and all his vaccinations at the Rescue. He is ready for his forever home. He would be best in a home with someone that doesn’t work all day everyday as he will need to finish up his puppy training. He would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. 3. Clover
Puppy · Female · Dachshund / Chihuahua (short coat)

Welcome Clover to CCPAL Rescue. Clover is a 4.5-pound Chiweenie. She happens to look more Dachshund than Chihuahua. That is Dachshund/Chihuahua. She is 10 weeks old. She has a fawn coat that is a little longer than the typical short coat. She has a little longer body and both ears hang long and low. She is good in a crate, likes to be held. She is learning the wee pad and gets toys and treats from our adopters. She will get grooming and nail trims at the rescue so she will be fine with that. She would be a great dog for a lover of this breed. A smaller yard would be fine. Dashchund and Chihuahua are typically vocal but if you raise as a puppy and correct her by saying “no” this should help as an adult.

She would be fine in a doggy daycare as she is very social. Right now, I would say she is very sweet and very cuddly. People who have had this breed love it for the loyalty to their human. She is getting spayed and all her vaccinations at the Rescue. She is ready for her forever home. She would be best in a home with someone that doesn’t work all day everyday as she will need to finish up her puppy training. She would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older due to her small size and trusting nature. A house with less stairs and less split levels would be best for her. She is currently in the CCPAL Rescue in Texas. She can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. 7. Charlie
Adult · Poodle (Miniature) (medium coat)

This funny looking guy is CHARLIE, a 15 pound, 3 year old miniature poodle. His colors may look different but it just makes him unique. His curly coat is soft and he takes a bath well and does well at the groomers
CHARLIE was owner surrendered to us by a young lady who could not take care of him any longer. I am told he gets along with cats but I do not have any so I cannot vouch for that.
He is full grown and will not get any bigger. He gets along with the other foster dogs and plays well with everyone. He does like to hang around me but he is also independent, just happy roaming around the house and laying on a doggy bed and watching the activities.
If you are interested in adopting CHARLIE please submit an application on the website below. Feel free to call anytime. Thank you.

8. Milo
Young · Maltese / Poodle (Toy) / Mixed (medium coat)

This little cutie is MILO, 10 pounds and 6 months old Maltipoo. We do not expect him to exceed 13 pounds as an adult. His coat is cotton soft and his temperament is just as soft. A kind hearted and playful little guy who gets along with all of the foster dogs. I do not have cats so I am not sure how he would behave around them.
MILO was found hiding in the bushes by Good Samaritans and turned into ACS, our very high kill shelter. I immediately stepped forward to rescue him and I am so happy. MILO is the type that just makes your heart melt. It is the cutest thing to watch him sit on his butt and beg you to come pet him. He sleeps with me and I barely know he is there because he doesn't move or get in the way.
If you are interested in adopting MILO, please submit an application on the website. Feel free to call anytime or leave a text message. Thank you.

10. Tonka II
Young · Male · Boxer

11/1/2026Tonka II is an owner surrender looking for a new home.Hi! My name is Tonka II! I am a handsome 2 year old brindle boy that is an owner surrender due to my family moving and my breed not being allowed. I am described as friendly, active, noisy, playful, affectionate, and obedient! I currently live with an older lab but am said to be dog friendly with dogs of all sizes. I currently live with cats and because I don't know personal space, they don't want to play with me. I currently live with 3 kids (ages 19 month to 13 years) and am gentle with the baby and like to play rough with the older kids.
Read more about Tonka II
I'm a happy guy and have only met one person I didn't like out of the many people I have been around! I am house trained, crate trained, and can be picky with some of my favorite food depending on the day. At night I sleep with the kid or in the kennel with the other dog. I don't do well sleeping alone and will cry and scratch at the kennel if left by myself to sleep. If the humans must be away, I will cry and bark in the crate and will chew on the furniture if left to roam. When outside I do not attempt to jump fences/gates but am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. I am scared of water, baths, being alone, and being left outside too long due to having a heat stroke in the past. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, chewing on toys, playing fetch, toys, being outside, cuddles, love, smiling when I want something, hitting the humans with my paws when I want something, nudge and paw the food container when it's time to eat, being in the human's lap, and dog treats! If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

11. Rex III
Adult · Male · Boxer

11/2/2026Rex III is an owner surrender looking for a new home.Hi! My name is Rex III! I am a handsome 3 year old white/brown boy that is an owner surrender due to no longer getting along with the other dog that I live with and for everyone's safety, I must be the only dog in the home. I am described as friendly, active, smart, noisy, playful, and affectionate! There are no children or cats in my home so it's uncertain if I am feline or kid friendly. I am house trained, crate trained, and eat High Point All Life Stages dog food in a slow feeder. At night I sleep in the bed with the humans and if they must be away from the home, I am fine being crated or else I will get into things I shouldn't.

I am able to jump over a kiddie gate but not a standard fence. When outside I am curious what is under the grass and will dig to find out. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, plush toys that I can't magically explode, rubber toys, running, going for walks, and playing outside! If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

12. Lucy Lou II
Young · Female · Boxer

11/2/2026Lucy Lou II is an owner surrender looking for a new home.Hi! My name is Lucy Lou II! I am a beautiful 1 year old flashy fawn girl that is an owner surrender due to my owner being a truck driver and not having the time for me and life on the road is not ideal for me. I am described as friendly, active, smart, noisy, and playful! I do not live with other dogs but it is said that I am dog friendly. I do not live with cats or kids, so it is uncertain if I am cat or kid friendly. I do jump on people because I get very excited so my caretaker says I may not be a good fit for a family with small children.
Read more about Lucy Lou II
I know basic commands, am house trained, but would need assistance with crate training if that is required in my forever home. I eat Healthy Choice puppy food from Tractor Supply and at night I sleep in the bed or recliner with the humans. I do sleep on my dog bed, but that is a very rare occasion. If the humans must be away, I am good but I have never been left alone for more than 2 hours. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. I am fearful of fireworks and do not like being told no, getting too hot, or being crated/locked in confined spaces. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, tire with rope toy, squeaky toys, chewing on plastic bottles, catching water from the hose, sleeping by the humans feet or under the blankets, 'argue' or 'talk back' when I don't' get what I want, playing with dogs my size, and treats! 13. Arthur
Adult (5 years 1 month) · Male · Poodle (Standard) / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat)

Arthur is wondering what happened to his person.
Once upon a time, Arthur was someone's emotional support dog. He knew what it meant to belong to someone, to be loved, and to have a person by his side. Now, at the rescue, he spends so much of his time crying. It's heartbreaking to watch a dog who once had a purpose and a person feel so lost.
Arthur is a gentle, calm soul who absolutely loves people and gets along well with other dogs. He isn't asking for much. Just a comfortable place to lay his head, a little companionship, and someone who won't leave him alone for most of the day.
Read more about Arthur
We think Arthur would be a wonderful companion for a senior or someone who is home more often than not. He doesn't need a busy household or endless adventures. He just needs YOU.
Can you imagine spending your golden years in a shelter, crying because the person you once loved is gone? Arthur deserves to know that he hasn't been forgotten. ❤️
Please, someone give Arthur his second chance at having a person.

20. Freddy
Adult (4 years 11 months) · Male · Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (medium coat)

Meet Freddy!
Freddy is a sweet Poodle mix who is ready to find his forever family. Just like his siblings, Freddy had quite an adventure before arriving at the rescue. After his owner ended up in the hospital, he and his brothers and sisters were loose on a property before being safely caught. He came to us heavily matted and flea-infested, but he has been completely cleaned up, fully vetted, and is ready for his fresh start!
Read more about Freddy
Freddy is a very sweet and submissive boy. However, he is very shy and timid meeting new people. Once he warms up, he is jumping with tail wags and kisses. He really is a sweet boy, and just may need a little more patience until he come fully come out of his shell.
Due to his breed, Freddy will need a dedicated family committed to regular brushing and consistent professional grooming to keep him looking handsome and feeling his best. It can be very painful if his fur becomes matted and tangled.
We are unsure if he is house broken. Potty training is something that will just need to be retrained on.
His activity is pretty mellow here at the rescue, so far. But because he has also not had enough time to come out of his shell, he more than likely will be more active when comfortable in his forever home.
Health & Medical Status:
• Neutered
• Microchipped & fully vaccinated
• Heartworm/Tick-borne disease negative (4DX Negative)
• Current on ProHeart 12 (heartworm prevention) and Bravecto (flea/tick prevention)
Adoption Details:
• Adoption Fee: $350
• Location: Currently in Texas

After his owner ended up in the hospital, he and his siblings spent two days loose on a property before being safely rescued. He arrived matted and covered in fleas, but he has been completely cleaned up, fully vetted, and is ready for a safe place to land.
Read more about Bingo
Unlike his energetic sister, Bingo has a much quieter, more sensitive soul. He is quite shy when meeting new people and will need a little time and patience to warm up to his new surroundings. Once he knows he is safe, his true colors shine—he becomes incredibly loving, gentle, and will happily shower you with sweet kisses!
We are unsure how he is with cats, as well as basic house manners. Potty training is something that will need to be recorrected on at home.
Due to his breed, Bingo will need a family committed to regular brushing and consistent professional grooming to keep him comfortable and handsome.

22. London
Adult (2 years) · Female · Shih Tzu (long coat)

Meet London!
London is a fun, hyper, loving, and playful Shih Tzu who is looking for a fresh start and a family to call her own.
After her owner sadly ended up in the hospital, London and her four siblings found themselves loose on a large property. It took a dedicated two-day trapping session by our team to bring them all safely into our rescue. She arrived heavily matted and flea-infested, but she has been cleaned up, vetted, and is now ready to let her true personality shine!
Read more about London
London is a total blast and has that classic, big Shih Tzu personality. She is a bundle of joy who loves to play, though she does give affectionate play bites when she gets excited, so a home with older children who understand puppy-like play would be best. She is also quite a vocal girl and will let you know when she has something to say! London is still working on her potty training and will need a patient family willing to help her learn the ropes.
As a Shih Tzu, she will also require consistent brushing and regular professional grooming to keep her coat looking and feeling its best.
Health & Medical Status:

10/28/2026Jeezy is an owner surrender looking for a new home.Hi! My name is Jeezy! I am a handsome 6 year old fawn boy that is an owner surrender because my owner doesn't have space for me. I am described as friendly, smart, calm, affectionate, quiet, and obedient! I live with another dog and kids and am said to be dog and kid friendly! I have never lived with a cat so it's unsure if I am feline friendly. I am house trained, crate trained, and am good if I must be left alone while the humans are away. When outside I have good behavior and do not dig or attempt to jump fences/gates. Some of my favorite things are riding in the car, running, and playing fetch with a tennis ball! If you think I would make a great addition to your family, contact the rescue today and give them my name because I am waiting to meet you!

27. Terri
Adult (5 years) · Female · Terrier / Mixed (medium coat)

Terri found herself as a stray, lost and confused. Thankfully, she was brought to us and is now safe.
Terri is a very sweet and submissive girl. She is still a little nervous and unsure of what is happening, but she still gives all the tail wags and happy kisses. She gets along just fine with other dogs, unsure about cats. Due to her demeanor, she would most likely do fine with kids, too.
We do not know her past life, so potty training and house broken is unsure, and will need to be worked on. She's not much of a barker, but that could also be due to her shy self, and not fully coming out of her shell, yet.

28. Pele
Adult · Male · Boxer

Hi! My name is Pele! I am a handsome 2-3 year old flashy fawn boy that has a super goofy and loveable personality and enjoys life! I love to play fetch, sprint around the backyard, going on walks followed by cuddles and affection, preferably in the human's lap! I have great house manners and do not beg or counter surf. Sometimes if I am bored or not getting sufficient attention, I will bring a random shoe or stuffed animal to the humans but am not destructive. I am house trained, crate trained, and leash trained! I currently live with an older lady dog and we get along well together. While on walks I am not phased by other dogs and have been fine and chill with other pups I've met! There are 3 kids in my foster home (ages 11-16 years) and I am good with them and all of their friends that come to visit! My foster family thinks I would be friendly with younger kids, but might be a bit rambunctious and they might get 'love taps' with my enthusiastic tail! As for cats, I was introduced to a neighbor cat and I was very intent on keeping an eye on it, so I may do best in a cat free home.

If your Vet recommends heartworm testing and consistent use of heartworm preventative medication we will verify to ensure your Vet records show heartworm testing completed and preventative purchased. For dogs currently in an applicant’s home, you should have a history of providing this care for at least the past year. If there are no dogs currently in the home we will check prior vet references and verify heartworm testing and use of preventative for dogs previously in the home. The purchase of heartworm preventative requires a prescription and prior purchases, if applicable, will be verified during the vet reference portion of our application process. If the applicant's vet clinic recommends heartworm preventative but it is purchased elsewhere, we ask applicants to provide proof of the prior purchases. After we receive a completed application to adopt, we conduct a phone interview and a home visit before approving an applicant. A vet reference must be provided for all current and recent pets. Adopting a dog in Comal County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
