Adult (8 years 11 months) · Female · Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) · 19 mi from Ferris

Meet this precious girl ROXY!! At 9 years young, she has so much love left to give. She’s a gentle, sweet soul who is a little afraid of the big world around her. In fact, she’s so timid that even her own shadow can be a little scary!
But here’s the beautiful thing about her… with a little patience, kindness, and love, she’s beginning to blossom!
She has been in foster care for about three weeks, and every day she’s showing a little more of her personality. She’s even starting to come out of her shell and initiate play with my dogs! Watching her confidence grow has been such a joy.

But imagine being the person who finally shows her that she’s safe, loved, and HOME. ❤️
Roxy just needs someone willing to give her that chance.
Could you be her happily ever after?

6. Jason
Young (8 months) · Male · Great Pyrenees (medium coat) · 20 mi from Ferris

Jason is kind of a special case.
He's been living in a cramped back yard with SIX other great pyrs.
As you can imagine, quarters are tight and these dogs don't get much individual attention. It's not a healthy situation for these dogs. But, Jason is young and while he's very shy and in need of a kind soul to help build his confidence, he's also super sweet and gentle.
Jason is getting accustomed to some of the regulars of being a dog, like learning how to walk on a leash, so he has a lot to learn, but he likes to please
All he needs is a little investment from you - he'll pay you back in spades!

7. Willow
Young (8 months) · Female · Boxer (short coat) · 20 mi from Ferris

Introducing Willow - a sweet little boxer mix from West Dallas. Willow had been observed chained in the yard with no shade or water several times and we wanted to intervene, but couldn't, other than to call the authorities. A short time later, Willow's owner lost their home and surrendered Willow to Angie's Friends, after all! What a lucky day for Willow . . . This sweet pup looks like she's a Boxer mix and she has a lot of boxer mannerisms. She's all puppy - full of energy and ready to play! Let us know if you'd like to meet Willow in person!

9. Delaney
Adult (2 years) · Female · Great Pyrenees (long coat) · 21 mi from Ferris

Adopt Delaney! She is a very sweet Great Pyrenees with a tragic backstory. We believe she is around 2 yrs old, and is currently underweight at 65lbs, we are working on getting some weight on her.
Delaney was found stuck in a dumpster where she couldn't get out, we believe she went in looking for food. Her female Pyrenees companion (Lilly, also available for adoption with SPIN Rescue) was waiting outside the dumpster staying by Delaneys side. They were both covered in fleas and had clearly spent a lot of time on the streets together.
Read more about Delaney
Despite her history, Delaney is a happy affectionate dog that loves people, sometimes more than food! She is great with kids too. She lovings giving and getting love. She greets strangers with enthusiasm.
She takes treats gently and knows how to 'Sit'.
She is good with dogs of all sizes and even cats.
Sometimes Delaney needs some encouragement to come inside, but once you give her a little sweet talking she comes in with a tail wag and smile. When she gets overwhelmed she finds a little corner to tuck into but won't stay there for long.
She is great on a leash, does well with new people, kids and dogs she meets while out. She did really well at a brewery for our adoption event.
Delaney needs a little encouragement to load up into a car but then rides well, after realizing you don't need her help driving.
She is house trained and has a medium energy level.
Delaney is spayed. Her adoption fee is $250. She is currently in a foster home in Dallas / Ft Worth area of Texas. We do adopt out of state and can help arrange transport, adopters will be responsible for transportation costs.

10. Lilly
Adult (4 years 11 months) · Female · Great Pyrenees (long coat) · 21 mi from Ferris

Meet Lilly! She is an incredibly sweet dog with a heartbreaking backstory. Estimated to be around 4-6 yrs old, she came into SPIN rescue clearly starving, very underweight at 70lbs, we think a healthy weight would be around 90-100lbs.
Lilly was found on the street near a dumpster. Her female Great Pyrenees companion (Delaney, also now with SPIN Rescue) had gotten stuck inside the dumpster and Lilly was loyal, staying nearby, waiting for her friend to be rescued.
Read more about Lilly
A vet has confirmed Lilly has had multiple litters of puppies in the past. We also believe she was abused at some point as she is very sensitive to pressure on her neck/collar and starts to panic. She has some scarring on her nose and legs, either from abuse or her time on the streets.
Now safe in her foster home, she has been the sweetest, calmest, most amazing dog.
She absolutely adores children and follows the 8yr boy around the house, he is her favorite. She has a very calm relaxed demeanor, low energy. She can be shy with adult strangers but once she realizes they are kind, she has loved everyone she's met. She does enjoy snuggling and will rest in your lap.
Lilly was reserved at first, but now thats she's getting more comfortable she has been more playful and even got the zoomies. She enjoys putting her feet in the pool.
She has been great with all dogs. Lilly will need another dog in her forever home, as she bonds strongly with dogs. (If you don't have one, you can also adopt Delaney, who she was found with)
Regarding cats, she has gotten better and now gets along well with cats on her foster home's property but is not a fan of strange cats. She does well with livestock too but is ready for the inside life.
She is mostly house trained, we think she will have it down by time she is adopted. We do not walk her on leash, as she is sensitive to pressure on the collar - she becomes scared and wants to get away. Fencing in her home will need to be secure as she can be a runner. She overall doesn't bark but when she does its justified.
Lilly has been through a lot in her life, she deserves the best. Her adopters will need to have some patience at first but she warms up quickly and will love you with all her heart.
Lilly is now spayed. Her adoption fee is $250. She is in a foster home in DFW area of Texas. We do adopt out of state and can recommend transport organizations.

11. Bailey
Adult (5 years) · Male · Great Pyrenees / Mixed (long coat) · 21 mi from Ferris

Adopt Bailey! He is a male Great Pyrenees, around 4-6 years old and 90lbs. Found dumped in a rural neighborhood, his foster family took him in and got him healthy. Now he is looking for a forever home.
Bailey is very people friendly. He loves attention and belly rubs. He does well with kids and babies. With strangers he can be cautious or bark at first but quickly accepts love once he realizes they are kind.
Read more about Bailey
Bailey tolerates female dogs and will play well but he takes some time to warm up. Slow introductions are best. He has not done well with male dogs in the past, especially if they are not neutered. He has some leash reactivity to dogs while on walks.
He is indifferent to the neighborhood cats.
Overall he is a calm and lazy guy. Enjoys the occasional tug of war game with a rope toy. He is great about reading the room and matching your mood.
Bailey LOVES car rides and getting a pup cup at Starbucks. He even did great on a boat outing! He also does well at the groomers.
He is smart and has quickly picked up commands such as 'Sit', 'Stay', and 'Lay Down'. He's mastered the Pyr Paw and if that doesn't work, he will use his nose to lift your hand.
Like a typical Pyrenees, he does bark when people or dogs walk by the house. He is house trained, but has marked the house when anxious in the past.
Bailey is a loveable dog that just wants to be loved in return.
He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $250. Currently he is in a foster home in DFW area of Texas. We are happy to work with out of state adopters if they arrange their own transport.

12. Obi
Young (1 year 5 months) · Male · Great Pyrenees / Mixed (medium coat) · 21 mi from Ferris

Adopt Obi! He is a smart, playful, up for adventure, male Great Pyrenees mix, we believe he is just over 1 yrs old, currently weighs about 95lbs.
Obi is very loyal. He enjoys belly rubs and loves snuggling with his foster family, definitely wants to be a lap dog. He can be cautious of new people. Once he warms up he is great with people and is his normal goofy, playful self. He is good with kids and the 3yr old in his foster home but doesn't realize how big he is and occasionally bumps into them.
He is playful and goofy. Enjoys playing with toys, prancing in the backyard, and even swimming.
Read more about Obi
Obi is very smart and loves to work for treats, and has picked up on tricks very quickly. He has also learned to open gates and doors, so may need to add a carabiner to your yard gates.
He really enjoys tug-of-war, wrestling, and fetch competitions with dogs, following it up with laying together on the couch for a nap.
While he is amazing with the dominate medium sized female, he has showed some food aggression towards the large submissive but protective male dog in his foster home. Obi is currently underweight, so with time he may not be insecure around food with other large male dogs. He is great with both dogs when no food is involved!
Obi is potty trained, crate trained, does well in the car, and is great on the leash but will pull some. He loves walks and hikes.
Obi is a street dog turned lap dog, he would be a great addition to many homes!
He is currently neutered and up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $250. Currently located in DFW area Texas, out of state adopters are responsible for arranging their own transport but we are happy to recommend transport companies.

13. Max
Young (5 months 28 days) · Male · Great Pyrenees / Mixed (long coat) · 21 mi from Ferris

Adopt Max! He is 6 months old, currently 80lbs, male Great Pyrenees mix. He is beautiful and strong. He was the largest puppy in his litter - and everything about Max is big!
Max has big paws, big appetite, and a big heart. He loves everyone he meets and is very popular in the neighborhood during daily walks. He loves children but is so big and young that he does require supervision.
Read more about Max
He does well with the big and small dogs in his foster home. He has medium energy and will play hard for a short time and follow it with a very long nap. He is also happy to chew a bone or play with toys by himself. His forever family will need to have another dog in the home to play and teach manners.
He has not been around cats, but he has seen rabbits, squirrels and ducks daily and he tries to be friends with them.
He is playful and loves toys. He also loves counter surfing, shoes, and toilet paper like a classic puppy. He is still growing up and learning about the world.
Max is potty trained, leash trained, and knows basic commands. He does well in his crate but prefers sleeping on cold stone floors. He loves going in the car.
Max and his littermates were rescued at 10 weeks old. Day one in SPIN Rescue care we witnessed him have a seizure. Max was then hospitalized for 2 days to determine the cause as he continued to have seizures. All tests came back normal but he was started on phenobarbital with success. Since being discharged, Max has been seizure-free for the last 4 months and, although he has since gained 50lbs, we have kept him on the same dose - we are weaning him off medication as he grows. The plan is to stop in two months if he continues to remain seizure free. He happily takes his medication.
His littermate had a DNA test done revealing they are 80% Great Pyrenees, 8% Husky, 8% German Shepherd, and 4% mix. He is going to be very large.
Max is neutered and up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $300. He is currently in a SPIN foster home in Dallas, Texas. Out of state applications will need to arrange transport, we are happy to reocmmend companies.

Adopt Cisco! He is a dog friendly, shy, loving male Great Pyrenees mix. We are guessing he is just over 1yrs old, currently weights 70lbs but may grow some more.
Cisco was considered a feral dog when first coming into SPIN Rescue, he was very scared and avoidant of humans... now he wags his tail when meeting new people and lets them pet him. He can still be a little timid but he has signifianctly improved from just 4 months ago.
Despite being scared, Cisco has always been gentle and kind. He has done well with tested with kids and is sweet when they come up to pet him.
Read more about Cisco
Cisco absolutely loves dogs, he enjoys their company and playing with them. He quickly integrated with the dogs in his foster home, he is good at matching their energy levels and respecting signals. He loves going to dog parks too.

Adult (4 years 3 months) · Male · Great Pyrenees / Mixed (short coat) · 21 mi from Ferris

Adopt Bernie! He is a happy, smart, friendly, 4yr old male Great Pyrenees. Currently underweight, ribs showing, at 75lbs.
Bernie is friendly with new people and is happiest when around his foster family. He likes to settle down next to his foster mom while she works from home. He will do some yard exploring and then come back making sure his human is still there. He might be a little too energetic for little ones, worry he would knock them over when we gets a burst of zoomies.
Bernie is dog friendly! He loves trying to get the resident dog to play and would love a doggie companion or frequent outings with his forever family.
Read more about Bernie
He is goofy and loves playing with ice cubes.
He does well when left home alone but does try to get on the bed so keep doors closed if you don't want him too. He is easily redirected with treats and is quickly picking up on house manners, like not to counter surf for burger buns or drink from his foster mom's water cup. To his credit, Bernie is very tall and many items are at his eye level.
He hops right up into the car and loves going on adventures or walks with you.
Bernie is a big lover ready for a family to love forever.

18. Mongo
Puppy (9 months) · Male · Great Pyrenees / Mixed (short coat) · 21 mi from Ferris

Meet Mongo! He is a male 9 month old puppy looking for a forever family. He is happy, playful, and talkative.
We think he is a Great Pyrenees and possibly German Shepherd mix (due to his big ears that stand upright at times). He currently weighs around 50lbs, we think he will grow up to be around 70-80lbs.
Mongo loves being near his people and dog friends. He can be too rough with little kids but would be fine with older children. He does well meeting new people on outings. He enjoys getting pets and sleeping near his 'pack'.
Read more about Mongo
He gets along great with the dogs in his foster home but requires slow introductions with new adult dogs as he can be unsure and reactive. He has met new dogs while in his foster home and done well after being introduced. He recently had a 'sleepover' with a new foster puppy and he was very excited to have a younger playmate.
Mongo is cautious around the cat in his foster home as it is mean to him, Mongo will run away if hissed at.
Mongo walks well on the leash and enjoys car rides. He likes to play with toys and in water.
He is potty trained and crate trained. He is very smart and food motivated, so learns things quickly. Although with his sassy attitude and a typical 'Pyrenees' stubbornness, he doesn't always listen. He will talk back to you and enjoys having a conversation.
Mongo will provide his family with entertainment, loyalty, and even conversation.
Mongo is neutered and up to date on vaccines. He is currently in a foster home near Dallas / Ft Worth area of Texas. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging their own transport. His adoption fee is $300.

Adopting a dog in Ferris
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
