1. Josie
Puppy · Female · Chihuahua / Pug (short coat) · 9 mi from San Antonio

Welcome Josie to CCPAL Rescue. Josie is a Chug (Chihuahua/Pug) puppy. She weighs 4 pounds and is 9 weeks old. She will be a small dog full grown. She should be 12 pounds or less. She is very sweet and has an adorable rounded head. She likes to be held, is good in a crate, goes on a wee pad and loves to play with toys. She was born at the Rescue. They took in a stray female and she was pregnant. This means the puppies get lots of attention and are very used to being in a loud and rowdy environment. Josie would be best in a home that the person doesn’t work all day every day. She needs to finish up her puppy training. Social pups make great adults and now is the time for her to spend time with her family and to go places and let people pet her. She is an AMAZING puppy. She would be fine with children. Due to her small size, we would like children to be 8 or older. She is getting her puppy vaccines and will have 3. She will then be ready for spay and adoption. She can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

2. Dudley
Puppy · Male · Dachshund / Chihuahua (short coat) · 9 mi from San Antonio

Welcome Dudley to CCPAL Rescue. Dudley is a 5- pound Chiweenie. That is Dashchund/Chihuahua. He is 10 weeks old. He has a beautiful fawn and black fade coloration. He looks like Bonnie but he is a little taller and has down ears. He has a little longer legs and body. He is good in a crate, likes to be held. He is learning the wee pad and gets toys and treats from our adopters. He will get grooming and nail trims at the rescue so he will be fine with that. He would be a great dog for a lover of this breed. A smaller yard would be fine. He would be fine in a doggy daycare as he is very social. He was found as a stray. He is getting neutered and all his vaccinations at the Rescue. He is ready for his forever home. He would be best in a home with someone that doesn’t work all day everyday as he will need to finish up his puppy training. He would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. 3. Clover
Puppy · Female · Dachshund / Chihuahua (short coat) · 9 mi from San Antonio

Welcome Clover to CCPAL Rescue. Clover is a 4.5-pound Chiweenie. She happens to look more Dachshund than Chihuahua. That is Dachshund/Chihuahua. She is 10 weeks old. She has a fawn coat that is a little longer than the typical short coat. She has a little longer body and both ears hang long and low. She is good in a crate, likes to be held. She is learning the wee pad and gets toys and treats from our adopters. She will get grooming and nail trims at the rescue so she will be fine with that. She would be a great dog for a lover of this breed. A smaller yard would be fine. Dashchund and Chihuahua are typically vocal but if you raise as a puppy and correct her by saying “no” this should help as an adult.

She would be fine in a doggy daycare as she is very social. Right now, I would say she is very sweet and very cuddly. People who have had this breed love it for the loyalty to their human. She is getting spayed and all her vaccinations at the Rescue. She is ready for her forever home. She would be best in a home with someone that doesn’t work all day everyday as she will need to finish up her puppy training. She would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older due to her small size and trusting nature. A house with less stairs and less split levels would be best for her. She is currently in the CCPAL Rescue in Texas. She can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200 to move her to another state. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

7. Charlie
Adult · Poodle (Miniature) (medium coat) · 14 mi from San Antonio

This funny looking guy is CHARLIE, a 15 pound, 3 year old miniature poodle. His colors may look different but it just makes him unique. His curly coat is soft and he takes a bath well and does well at the groomers
CHARLIE was owner surrendered to us by a young lady who could not take care of him any longer. I am told he gets along with cats but I do not have any so I cannot vouch for that.
He is full grown and will not get any bigger. He gets along with the other foster dogs and plays well with everyone. He does like to hang around me but he is also independent, just happy roaming around the house and laying on a doggy bed and watching the activities.
If you are interested in adopting CHARLIE please submit an application on the website below. Feel free to call anytime. Thank you.

8. Milo
Young · Maltese / Poodle (Toy) / Mixed (medium coat) · 14 mi from San Antonio

This little cutie is MILO, 10 pounds and 6 months old Maltipoo. We do not expect him to exceed 13 pounds as an adult. His coat is cotton soft and his temperament is just as soft. A kind hearted and playful little guy who gets along with all of the foster dogs. I do not have cats so I am not sure how he would behave around them.
MILO was found hiding in the bushes by Good Samaritans and turned into ACS, our very high kill shelter. I immediately stepped forward to rescue him and I am so happy. MILO is the type that just makes your heart melt. It is the cutest thing to watch him sit on his butt and beg you to come pet him. He sleeps with me and I barely know he is there because he doesn't move or get in the way.
If you are interested in adopting MILO, please submit an application on the website. Feel free to call anytime or leave a text message. Thank you.

12. Freda
Young · Female · Border Terrier / Norfolk Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) · 14 mi from San Antonio

FREDA is a 9 month old, 9 pounds terrier of some sort. We really cannot figure out what she is mixed with. I probably should do a DNA test on her. She looks just like her mother who is a few pounds smaller. FREDA was owner surrendered as the pregnancy was an accident litter.
The word that comes to me when I think about FREDA is "soft", her coat is soft, her attitude/temperament is soft, she takes treats soft, she plays soft and her overall behavior is just soft. She is a sweetheart of a dog who plays with all of the other foster dogs, she is kind of submissive but not timid as she wrestles and can hold her on while playing.
FREDA loves everyone, gives kisses and loves to snuggle even when there is really no space around my legs, she squeezes in and find a spot! I will have to get better pictures of her but she is always moving and playing.
Read more about Freda
She would make a great family dog, she will remain a small breed scruffy dog.
There are no cats in the home so we do not know how she would get along with them but she is just super soft so we cannot imagine her not getting along with a cat, she'll probably try to play with a cat.
If you would like to adopt FREDA, please submit an application on the website below. Feel free to call me anytime. Thank you.

13. Cisco
Adult · Male · Poodle (Miniature) (medium coat) · 14 mi from San Antonio

CISCO is ready for his own home and what a sweet boy you will be getting. He is 3 years old and a mere 14 pounds and fully grown. Just a sweet guy who wants love and loves nothing better than hanging out with his human. Although CISCO is in a home with other dogs, he can be dog selective and for that reason we are asking that he be the only dog in the home.
He gets along great with small kids, he plays and gives soft kisses.
He walks well on a leash and rides in the car without getting sick. He obeys well and is crate trained. Because there are several dogs in the home he is crated when there are no adults in the home so we are not sure how he does left alone on his own but he is not a chewer and does not bother things that are not dog related.
CISCO would love to have a human to give him attention and love and he will reward you with devotion and gratitude.
Read more about Cisco
He does very well being groomed and bathed and he will need to have his curly coat groomed every 6-8 weeks.
The home does not have any cats so we are not sure how he would do with them. If you are interested in adopting CISCO, please submit an application on the website below. Thank you.

14. Blanca
Adult · Female · Rat Terrier (short coat) · 9 mi from San Antonio

Welcome Blanca to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 2 year old Rat Terrier mix. She came in from a hoarding situation. We received 3 dogs from this case. One was adopted already and one had to go to a specialized trainer in another Rescue. Blanca has started opening up and allowing people to pet her and hold her. She never got any attention in her original home, the hoarder. She is good with other dogs and causes no issues. She is kennel trained and her response to being afraid is to run and hide. She is a timid girl and not the social butterfly. She would be perfect with a person that is more introverted and wants a pet that is also similar. Blanca would be satisfied being at home with you all the time. A small walk in the yard would be fine. She until now, has not walked on leash. She is learning to do it at our Rescue. She would like a patient owner and a quieter home. An older couple or older single person would be great. Someone with a quieter home. She would be fine kenneled away if you had a party or people over. She is not very vocal and prefers to blend into the woodwork. She is really a great dog for the right family. She is getting her vaccinations, nail trims and will be spayed soon and ready for her forever home. She could be adopted locally in Texas or we could work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. . Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

15. Daisy
Adult · Female · French Bulldog (short coat) · 9 mi from San Antonio

Welcome Daisy to CCPAL foster program. Daisy is a 4-year Frenchie (French Bulldog). She has been a breeder dog and the breeder is no longer going to use her so she is now looking for her forever home. This awful in our eyes, but we are happy to find Daisy a real forever home where she can be loved and cherished and doted on. She is a wonderful dog. She is good with other dogs, potty trained, not too active, not too vocal and does good with children. She is getting her spay surgery with CCPAL. She is current on vaccinations and will also get her heartworm test. She has lived in a house so she knows the rules and structure of living with a family.

She is beautiful inside and out and we cannot believe anyone could give up a dog this fantastic. We would love someone that knows this breed. She has the shortened nose so this breed cannot tolerate heat well. Anyone that has had a Frenchie knows this. She would be fine with a moderately active family. She can go with children as well. We like them to be 8 or older. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can work with one of the wonderful transporter to help her get to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. 16. Maverick
Adult · Male · Chihuahua / Dachshund (short coat) · 9 mi from San Antonio

Welcome Maverick to CCPAL Foster Program. Maverick is a 4-year-old Chiweenie. He weighs about 19 pounds. He is good on a leash, good in a car. He is potty trained and very loyal to his person. He knows “go for a walk”, “stop”, “leave it”, “It’s the neighbor” and a few other commands. He is in a home and the owner is having some very big financial issues and need to find Maverick a new home. Maverick has some allergies to food and the food that he can is a Duck and Potato kibble. He has some allergies to grass. He has taken Apoquel successfully to handle the allergies. He warms up slowly and is very loyal and bonded once he has bonded. He would be great for a senior couple or single wanting a companion. A nice yard for him to get exercise in would be nice or someone that could have the time to take him on a couple of walks would be great. He isn’t the social butterfly that some dogs are so a matching owner would be the best fit. He would be a great dog to alert you to someone at the door or something being off in the environment. He is good on walks and would help a senior be more active. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He could go with children but we would like them to be teens. I think a quieter home would be best for this boy. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

Welcome Toby to CCPAL Rescue. Toby is a 6-year old Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix). Toby lost his owner in death and the immediate family live on a farm with farm animals. He is outgoing, good on a leash, good with people including strangers. He weighs 13 pounds and is potty trained. He is learning to be crated and is a lovely dog. He will be with us while we look for his new forever home. He is neutered and will get all his vaccines all current while he awaits his new family to fall in love with his photo and video online.

19. Snow
Adult · Shih Tzu (medium coat) · 14 mi from San Antonio

Monday, September 21, 2026, SNOW is still available.
Awww, SNOW is one of my favorite in my home. He is a 8 year young, 12 pound Shih Tzu, male. He is just happy go lucky all the time. He runs outside to potty with the other dogs and afterwards comes back to the door to get in. I do not have a doggy door, nor do I have any cats so I do not know how he would do with them but he is really a chill type of guy.
Sometimes he sunbathes for a few minutes or sits on the deck to watch the other dogs play. I have even seen him play every now and then. Very routine type of guy, crate, potty and house trained.
Read more about Snow
The name SNOW is what his microchip is registered under even though that name just does not fit him and I try not to call him by that name just in case his new owners would like to change it.
SNOW was found on the streets very neglected with matting and skinny from trying to fend for himself, I wanted to cry when I got him. Then I got happy for a brief moment as he had a microchip and I contacted the owners who never responded to my phone calls, text or emails. I cannot imagine why they would not want SNOW as he is the perfect dog, he has not given me one moment of trouble. This is a really special guy. And that underbite just makes him more unique.

This spunky looking guy is just that, full of spunk and fun and ready to enjoy life in a new home. Gets along with all of the dogs, crate and potty, house trained. He is a routine kind of guy and very independent but he likes to be in the same room you are in just so he can keep an eye on you!
PANDA rides in the car without getting sick and walks very well on a leash. He was found on the streets with no microchip and very neglected and matted. He has been a great addition to my home as he is easy to care for and he gets along with all of the dogs, large and small.

21. Sean
Young · Terrier / Dachshund (short coat) · 9 mi from San Antonio

Welcome Sean to CCPAL Rescue. He is a 10-pound small Terrier/Dachshund mixed pup. He is 4 months old. His mom is Monica. Monica was on the street as a stray. We took her in to find out she was pregnant. The puppies were born in our Rescue. They have gotten lots of interaction. They are very social and friendly. Sean is one of the middle- sized boy pups. He looks the most similar to his mom. He is good with other dogs and loves to play in the water. He is cute and has the most adorable expressions. He likes being held and is very trusting of all people. He should be 15 to 18 pounds is our best guess full grown.
Read more about Sean
He should be small enough to take with you in a doggy sling or bag. He is a fun pup to pet because of his coat. He is full of personality and very good with his litter group. He goes on a wee pad and is good in a crate. He likes all people and is not shy around strangers. Her mom is 15 pounds. Our guess would be 10 to 12 for him. He is not a big shedder. He will make some lucky family a good pet. Anyone who adopts a puppy should not work all day every day because a puppy needs to be with their family and not home alone all day. He needs to finish up his puppy training. He will be a great dog for a social person wanting a matching puppy personality. He would be fine in a smaller condo size yard. He would be fine with other dogs. He can go with children. We like them to be 8 or older. He is getting neutered, vaccinated and he will be ready for his forever home. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally. We can also use one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Welcome Butter to CCPAL Rescue. He is a 2 year old Chihuahua mixed dog. He weighs 12 pounds. He loves sitting on your lap and he is good with all the different personalities of dogs at the Shelter. He is fine with strangers and all the small dogs at the Rescue. He would be good in a doggy daycare situation and is very social. He would be great traveling to Starbucks or any other place because he likes people. He would be fine being a companion dog at home too.

23. Daisey Mae
Puppy · Female · Chihuahua / Dachshund (short coat) · 9 mi from San Antonio

Welcome Daisey Mae to CCPAL Rescue. She came in with her mom Layla. We think her breed is Chiweenie. She is 13-weeks old and she weighs about 5 or 6 pounds. We think full grown would be 25 pounds or less. She is beautiful and looks a lot like her mom. She was fun to take photos of at the photo shoot. She is good in a crate, good with other dogs, playful and sweet. She is smart and trusting of people. She would be great with a family that is moderately active to highly active. She would be best with someone that is not gone all day every day and can spend some time with their puppy to keep her social and to finish up her puppy training.

She would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older as older children can be taught to respect and be careful with their dog. She is sturdy and would make a great walking companion. She is social and would be fine taking her out places that have lots of people or a doggy daycare. She is up on her vaccinations and will be spayed soon and ready for her forever home. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. 24. Foxy Lady
Young · Female · Corgi / Cairn Terrier (medium coat) · 9 mi from San Antonio

Welcome Foxy Lady to CCPAL Rescue. She is a Corgi/Cairn is our best estimate on her breed. She is 15 months old. She has a longer coat and weight about 25 pounds. She should be full grown and if anything may fill out some. She will be a small dog full grown. She is good with other dogs, good in a crate and getting used to Rescue life. She has an adorable underbite and her teeth are in great shape. We think her best home would be with someone who has had a Corgi and has the time to finish her training. I would say moderate to active family is best. She could be with kids. We think 8 or older is best.

She likes the women at the shelter and warms up more slowly to new people. She readily accepts women. She will be worked with on her leash manners and she has ridden in the car without problems. Her best home would be a more quiet one that she can get more one on one attention. She would be great for an older couple, or single person that wants a nice companion. She doesnt seem to be the social butterfly but very content with being home. If you think this sounds like a good fit for you, put in an application. She is a wonderful dog and a head turner for sure. Her adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. 25. Monica
Adult · Female · Fox Terrier / Italian Greyhound (short coat) · 9 mi from San Antonio

Welcome Monica to CCPAL Rescue. Monica is a 2 year old Flat Coated Fox Terrier/Italian Greyhound is our best guess. She is a mix of breeds we are sure. She weighs about 15 pounds. She was found on the street big and pregnant. Her pups all look very different. Some are fluffy and some are not. She is a wonderful dog. She doesn’t jump up, is good with other dogs, good in a crate and good on a leash. She is also nice in her kennel and was the very best and most attentive momma. She isn’t very vocal which is wonderful and would make an easy dog to bring into some family. She has weaned her pups and will be spayed soon and ready for her very own forever home.

26. Barry
Adult · Shih Tzu · 14 mi from San Antonio

Doesn't he look like a grumpy old man?!!! Well, he is not, far from it. BARRY is a happy guy who runs around playing with the other dogs but he is not too active. He loves hanging out in the house with his humans. BARRY also loves playing in water but only outside, he never gets into the water bowl in house. This is a very playful and happy guy.
He is completely crate and potty trained but I let the dogs out pretty often so there are no accidents.
BARRY is a 2 1/2 year old, 15 pound pure breed Shih Tzu with a golden color with white and gray mixed in. He walks well on a leash and rides in the car without getting sick.
There are more pictures available of him.

I will be taking more pictures of him today.
Barry was abandoned in a neighborhood to fend for himself and that truly hurts my heart because he is a totally indoor dog and a super sweetheart.
If you are interested in adopting BARRY, please submit an application on our website below. Feel free to call me anytime. Thank you.

27. Ginger & Charlie
Adult · Shih Tzu (medium coat) · 14 mi from San Antonio

This brother and sister duo are GINGER & CHARLIE. They are very bonded and cannot be separated. They would do best in a home together. They play, play and play some more until it is time to eat and take a nap and then play some more. Both of the love playing with the other small breed scruffies in the house.
GINGER is the cream and tan one and only has one eye. I do not know what happened to her left eye before I got her but it was a dead eye with no sight causing infection and the vet advised to have it removed. She is the more social of the two dogs.
CHARLIE is the brown and tan one with the cutest underbite that just makes him cuter.
Both walk well on a leash and ride in the car without getting car sick.
Read more about Ginger & Charlie
They sleep together in their crate, on the floor in a doggy bed or on the couch. I try to prohibit them getting on the couch but CHARLIE loves it up there and GINGER follows. I cannot say which one if the leader because they follow each other around with activities.
Neither of them is aggressive or protective of anything or each other. Of course they love their treats and not big eaters. They are crate and house trained. They are not destructive with human things but CHARLIE likes to take my shoes as soon as I take them off. He only moves them to their doggy bed, he does not chew on them, just moves them and then moves on to the next adventure.
These pure breed Shih Tzu's were owner surrendered because the owner just could not take care of them any longer. BOTH are 4 years old, GINGER is 10 pounds and CHARLIE is 12 pounds even though they look the same weight and small. More pictures are available.
Their adoption fee is $600 as a pair, transportation is available to most of the United States. If you are interested in adopting them as a pair, please submit an application on the website below. Thank you.

28. Tyler
Adult · Maltese / Poodle (Toy) / Mixed (medium coat) · 14 mi from San Antonio

This little 8 pound guy is TYLER. He is 3 years old and a very loving and cuddly guy. He is quite independent and does not get in your way. He loves laying on his blankets and doggy bed.
I do NOT have any cats so I do not know how he would do in a home with cats. And he is very afraid of bigger dogs and will bark at them out of fear. Other than that he gets along with all of the small breed scruffies in my home.
The face and front part of him is straight like a Maltese and his body is curly like a poodle, he has a short curly tail. He may not be a pure breed but he is a preferred breed.
If you are interested in adopting TYLER, please submit an application on the website below. Feel free to call me anytime to discuss. More pictures are available. Thank you.

29. Holly
Puppy · Female · Norfolk Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 14 mi from San Antonio

This little spit-fire baby is HOLLY! She is a mere 7 pounds and 4 months old. We do not expect her to exceed 15 pounds as an adult, she has been slow to grow. She is a mighty little girl who is super playful but not hyper. She is in a home with big and small breed dogs and she loves the big dogs, she has no fear of anything.
Like any typical puppy she plays, play and plays until she konks out for a nap. She loves to cuddle as well. HOLLY would do best in a home with another dog as a pet playmate. She loves to go outside and run zoomies although she runs zoomies inside as well. We are trying to potty train her and she is catching on slowly.
Read more about Holly
She does follow what the other dogs do and that is a big help. She knows how to use the pee pads.
HOLLY was found by a good Samaritan roaming the streets by herself. She was covered with fleas so they chose to shave her down. Her hair is growing back and she is just a small breed scruffy, wire haired and stark white in color.
If you are interested in adopting HOLLY, please submit an application on the website below. Feel free to call me anytime. Thank you.

Small dogs suit apartments and smaller homes, are easy to take along, and many live well into their teens.
