Bella is a beautiful, 2-year-old Great Pyrenees who loves people, children, walks, and spending time outdoors. She’s being returned through no fault of her own because her adopter’s living situation isn’t the right fit for her needs. As a working dog, Bella will thrive with an adopter who can provide patient, consistent training and help guide her instincts. She’s a dream on leash—she loves walks and doesn’t pull—and she’d enjoy spending time with other dogs, whether at home or on playdates.Bella is respectful indoors and doesn’t jump on the furniture. She’s not been able to adjust to crate time and may chew when nervous or left alone, so a home where someone is around often would suit her well.

Courtesy Post Please contact bsimson@gmail.com for inquiry and adoptionBurrito is a roughly 100 lb, six-year old, neutered Great Pyrenees. He is up to date on vaccines and was rescued four years ago. He is incredibly sweet. He loves belly rubs and to lean on you. He is pretty chill and prefers to guard the perimeter of the yard or lay near you rather than play. With good nutrition and genetic testing it was discovered that Burrito is pure bred. He has worked with trainers over the past few years and he has made excellent progress. He follows several commands such as touch, go to spot, sit, leave it etc.Burrito tolerates the owners' cat who is always trying to annoy him.

FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED FOR SADIE! Meet Sadie! This beautiful, energetic young lady from South Carolina is still very much a puppy at heart. A few things we love about Sadie: She's a people dog. Sadie is sweet, affectionate, and loves attention. If there's a lap available, she's happy to climb into it. She's ready for adventure. She's ready to learn. Sadie knows “sit,” is working on “down,” and is very treat motivated—which makes training a lot more fun. She loves to play! Sadie enjoys playing with other dogs one-on-one. (check out her the photo of her with her bestie, Stripe!) When there are several dogs together, however, she can become uncomfortable and may react, so smaller social settings are a better fit for her. She has previously done well with cats and children. She's a good traveler. Sadie is calm in the car, making her ready to tag along on adventures near and far. Sadie is still working on her leash skills and would love a home with a yard where she can run and play. 5. River
Adult · Male · Redbone Coonhound · 8 mi from Beltsville

I’m River! I’m a 2-year-old, 44-pound Coonhound/Redbone with the softest eyes and an even softer heart. If you believe in second chances and incredible glow-ups, my story is for you! When I first arrived, I was terrified of the world and really scared of people. It turns out my eyes were hurting me (a condition called entropion), but thanks to a successful corrective surgery, I can finally see comfortably—and I have completely blossomed! Now that I’m feeling good, I’ve discovered just how wonderful people are, and I love making new human and dog friends.I’m already house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. It took a little healing, but I'm fully ready to start my next chapter. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle hound to fill your home with love, I’d love to meet you!

6. Curly
Adult · Male · Great Dane / Mixed · 8 mi from Beltsville

Hey there, I’m Curly! I’m a handsome 1-year-old brindle Great Dane weighing right around 80 pounds. Back in early October, a hunter found my brother and me out in the woods when we were very thin and dehydrated. Thankfully, we’ve been on a good feeding schedule ever since and have already put on 10 to 15 pounds! Everyone here says I am a total sweetheart. I'm super gentle with people, take treats nicely from your hand, and walk really well on a leash! I’m currently working on my housetraining, and since I love snacks so much, I'm a big fan of training time. I also get along great with other dogs! Even though I'm a big boy who likes to get vocal and chatty while playing, I'm actually very gentle with my dog friends.

I am all set on my vet care, too! I’m neutered, microchipped, caught up on all my vaccines, and tested negative for heartworm and tick diseases. I would love nothing more than a cozy home and a family to call my own. Come say hi to me soon!

7. Larry
Adult · Male · Great Dane / Mixed · 8 mi from Beltsville

My name is Larry, and I’m a 1-year-old tan Great Dane weighing around 75 pounds! Earlier this month, a kind hunter found my brother and me out in the woods when we were severely underweight and dehydrated. Since then, we’ve been on a steady feeding schedule and have already gained a healthy 10 to 15 pounds! Even after a rough start, I am the sweetest, most gentle big guy. I walk nicely on a leash, take treats very softly from your hand, and love playing with other dogs! I can get pretty vocal when I play, and I also like to do some goofy mouth play, though I’m always gentle and never put any pressure down.

Because I don’t quite realize how big I am yet, I’m currently learning not to jump up when I get excited, and I'm also working on my housetraining (luckily, I'm super treat-motivated!). One funny thing to know about me is that when my brother and I were put in separate outdoor runs after getting neutered, I got bored and showed everyone I can climb a fence! I’m neutered, microchipped, up to date on my shots. I’m so ready to trade my days in the woods for a soft bed and a loving family. Come meet me soon!

8. Stassi
Adult · Female · Terrier / Labrador Retriever / Mixed · 8 mi from Beltsville

Hi, I’m Stassi! Within ten minutes of walking into my foster home, I was already curled up snuggling—my foster mom says I’m by far the cuddliest dog she’s ever met! I’m a 3-year-old black and white Lab/Terrier mix, and at 35 pounds, I’m a great compact size for squeezing onto the couch right next to you.Back at the shelter, the staff always called me "the perfect dog" because I’m so easygoing. I love people, do great with kids, walk nicely on a leash, and I'm already housetrained. I’ve even gone out to busy adoption events and did great in public! I originally came into the shelter with another dog and really enjoy having dog friends around.

Hi, I’m Demi! I’m a 3-year-old, 70-pound German Shepherd mix who just loves being right in the middle of things. I’m super friendly, great with kids, and an easy passenger in the car. I’ve even gone out to busy adoption events and did great with all the new people and activity! I am very food-motivated, so if you have treats in your hand, you have my full attention. That makes teaching me new things pretty easy! As far as other pets go, I’m not a fan of cats, and I don't like dogs that play super rough or get in my face. I’d be happiest in a cat-free home where I can be your one-and-only, or live alongside a calm, polite dog who respects my space. I’m spayed, microchipped, and fully caught up on my vaccines. If you’re looking for a sweet, social shepherd to take on drives and spoil with treats, come say hi!

10. Paisley
Puppy · Female · Shepherd / Great Pyrenees / Mixed · 8 mi from Beltsville

Hi, I’m Paisley! My sibling and I recently lost our home when our owner couldn't take care of us anymore, so now I’m on the lookout for a family of my own! My name is Paisley, and I’m an 8-month-old (as of October, 2026) Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix right around 35 pounds.Because I’m still a young girl, I have plenty of fun, goofy puppy spirit left in me, balanced out by a super sweet nature. I love kids, hop right into the car for rides without any fuss, and I’m already about halfway housetrained, so I just need a steady daily routine to help me cross the finish line! My foster mom says I've also been doing great with my crate training and am catching on really well to new things! Right now, she's teaching me "sit," "lay down," and "stay" (where I wait for her to say "free" before I get my treat!), and I'm even learning to wait in my crate until she says the word "release." When I meet new dogs, I tend to be a little shy and submissive for the first few minutes.

12. Clementine
Young · Female · Spaniel / Mixed · 8 mi from Beltsville

When I first showed up here, I was painfully skinny, scared of my own shadow, and entirely unsure of what this world had to offer. But with consistent meals, a safe bed, and gentle humans, I didn’t just step out of my shell—I blasted right out of it! Now? Oh, hey, I’m Clementine: a bouncy, affectionate 50-pound Spaniel/Pointer mix who is head-over-heels in love with life! 13. David Bowie
Young · Male · Collie / Siberian Husky / Mixed · 8 mi from Beltsville

Meet David Bowie! Take one look at my photo and you’ll see how I got my name: one ice-blue eye, one warm brown eye, and two giant radar ears! I’m David Bowie, a one-year-old Collie/Husky mix, and at an easy 32 pounds, I'm the ultimate compact companion. I'm naturally shy around new people and take my time warming up, but once I know I'm safe, I soften right up. In the house, my foster mom says I’m remarkably calm and chill. I don't bark, I listen well, and I have an easy, peaceful routine when it’s time to go to bed. Loud noises and fast movements make me jump, and I can be a little head-shy at first, but once we're bonded, my favorite move is sticking right against your legs like a little shadow.

I play so nicely with furry friends and even threw a play-bow to my own reflection in the mirror. Having a confident, friendly dog sibling at home would be huge for showing me the ropes. Because quick movements still startle me, a patient, low-key home without young kids is where I’ll do best. I’m already neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all my vaccines. I need a home where someone is always home. My family will need to be prepared to work with me on the gradual, sometimes challenging, training that separation anxiety requires. This isn’t something that can be rushed, so my adopters will need to be patient, committed, and able to arrange their schedules so that I’m not left alone while I learn that being by myself is safe. In return, you’ll get an incredibly devoted companion who truly loves being with his people. I’m looking for a home with older kids or adults. Little ones just aren’t really my thing, but I do well with older, dog-savvy children who understand how to respect my space.I’m neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all my vaccinations.I am young and have a lot of energy, so I also need a home where I can get plenty of exercise and opportunities to let that energy out. If you like long walks or need a running buddy, I am your guy!Whether we’re cruising around town with the windows down, heading out for a walk, or hanging out together at home, I’m just excited to be by your side. If you have the time, patience, and lifestyle to help a loving dog like me work through separation anxiety, I may just be your perfect match.

Couch time after a busy day? I thought you’d never ask. I can get a little mouthy when I’m excited so I’d do best in an adult home or one without young children. I’m also selective about my dog friends. Some dogs get the tail-wagging seal of approval, while others don’t quite make the cut, so any potential canine sibling would need a thoughtful introduction. I may decide that being your one-and-only is the perfect arrangement—and honestly, I’m confident I can provide more than enough personality for one household. Special Adoption Considerations: Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.
Bonbon is Looking For: Hi! The six of us – Bumbleberry, Booparella, Bonbon, Bixie, Barktholomew, and Babushka – are a pretty adorable bunch and have loved our time together in the puppy pile, but we're ready to split up and find our very own homes. Exciting, right?! We're each looking for a family to call our own, where we can explore the world by the side of our humans, burn off all our puppy energy with fun romps, make new pup pals, and head to dog school to show off how smart we are! In exchange, we promise endless love, puppy kisses, and loyalty for all our days. We can't wait to meet you, forever families! We'll show you our best smiles (unless we're in the middle of a puppy nap, then you might just get our sleepy faces!).
What My Foster Says About Me: Coming coon!
Puppy Vetting Requirements: Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.
Due to this puppy’s young age, she/he has not yet been spayed or neutered. As part of the adoption contract, it will be your responsibility, as the adopter, to ensure that this is done no later than 3/18/2027. There are NO EXCEPTIONS and NO EXTENSIONS to this date. A non-refundable spay/neuter deposit will be collected if you would like Lucky Dog to pay for this animal to be spayed/neutered at one of our low cost partner vets.
Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter. Adopting a dog in Beltsville
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
