2. Gremlin

Young · Male · Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed · 23 mi from Levittown

Gremlin (AL) has officially retired from his previous career as a neglected backyard ornament and is now accepting applications for a much more prestigious position: Beloved Family Dog. At just 3 years old, this dark and handsome Miniature Poodle mix has movie-star looks hidden beneath his current "I-woke-up-like-this" shelter makeover. Don't worry, Gremlin is safely in rescue now and headed for a glow-up that may cause excessive compliments, neighborhood envy, and spontaneous declarations of "Who's and a handsome boy?!" Despite not having the easiest start in life, Gremlin somehow skipped the grumpy chapter entirely.

Now he's ready for soft beds, belly rubs, adventure walks, and a family that sees the wonderful dog he's always deserved to be. Apply online to adopt Gremlin (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Age: 4–5 months old
Breed: Sato (Puerto Rican Street Dog Mix)
Size: Puppy (Estimated Medium when fully grown)
Good in a home with: Dogs, cats, and respectful children (with proper introductions)

Read more about Sasha

About Sasha:Meet Sasha, a brave little 4-to-5-month-old Puerto Rican Sato with a heart full of hope!
Sasha started her life facing incredible hardships on the streets of Puerto Rico alongside her sweet brother, Sam. As part of a litter of nine vulnerable street pups born to a homeless mother, he had to be a true four-legged warrior from day one. She survived harsh weather, fleas, and the daily uncertainty of street life without a safe place to lay his head.
Thankfully, rescue angels stepped in to change her fortune, flying her and Sam to safety where they received full bellies, endless love, and the medical care they needed to thrive.
Now completely healthy, fully vetted, and parasite-free, this growing puppy has left his difficult past behind. He may have a small body, but at just a few months old, she has giant dreams of finding a perfect forever home. This resilient, intelligent, and deeply loving girl is ready to bring endless affection and puppy kisses to a family of his own.
Could you be the ultimate happy ending Sasha deserves?

If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.

Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate!

Aspen (SC): A Little Survivor with a Beautiful Future Some puppies enter rescue needing a helping hand. Aspen arrived needing a little more than that ~ our best quess is possibly an assie mix. 10. Lucky

Adult · Male · Poodle (Miniature) · 23 mi from Levittown

Meet Lucky: The Little Poodle Who’s Ready for a Big ComebackSome dogs are named Lucky because they found luck. This guy? He’s named Lucky because he is the luck — a 6yearold Mini Poodle who brings good vibes the way other dogs bring tennis balls. Life threw him a curveball when his former owner could no longer afford his care, but Lucky hasn’t let that dim his sparkle. He’s still the same cheerful, tailwagging optimist who believes every person is a friend he just hasn’t greeted yet. Lucky is wonderfully social — he gets along with people of all ages, other dogs, and even cats, and he radiates that warm, “come sit with me” energy that makes you feel instantly adored.

Read more about Lucky

In fact, he’d love a doggy sibling in his forever home. He’s the kind of pup who thrives with a buddy to nap beside, follow around, or gently boss around in that charming, curlypoodle way. He’s friendly, he’s joyful, and he has perfected the ancient art of leaning his whole fluffy self into your lap like a tiny, curly therapist. He’s the kind of dog who trots into a room and lifts the whole mood. The kind who makes you laugh without trying. The kind who reminds you that love doesn’t have to be complicated. If you’re ready to give this sweet boy the stable, happy life he deserves, you can apply to adopt him at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. 11. Millie

Young · Female · Chihuahua / Mixed · 23 mi from Levittown

Millie (AL) is only about 15 months old, but her little heart has already weathered more than most dogs ever should. This Long Haired Chihuahua mix was given away to someone who then tossed her outside for four days with no food, no water, and no kindness. When rescuers finally reached her, Millie’s sad, soulful face said everything — she had been waiting for someone to notice she mattered. And she does matter. Millie is a gentle, sensitive girl who needs a moment to feel safe with new people. She’s not shy because she’s stubborn — she’s shy because she remembers what it felt like to be forgotten.

Read more about Millie

But once she realizes you’re one of the good ones, she softens like sunshine. Her tiny tail starts to wag, her eyes brighten, and she leans in with the sweetest, quiet devotion. She’s wonderful with dogs and cats, and she finds comfort in their company. Millie would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can blossom at her own pace and learn that love doesn’t disappear. If you’re the kind of person who sees beauty in resilience… if you have room in your heart for a small dog with a big story… Millie is waiting for you. 12. Chili

Adult · Female · Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat) · 7 mi from Levittown

Location: Berryville, VA

Meet Chili!

Chili is a 5 year old, 38 lb, spayed purebred girlie in need of an ACD experienced, child-free home (or older child), preferably in the VA/MD/PA area.

Chili is a very intense stereotypical cattle dog, and therefore an ACD experienced home is a must. She is living with three dog-savvy cats, three resident dogs (including her littermate sister), chickens, and goats, however, she is constantly irritating her sister, and would probably prefer to be the only dog in a home, as she is a mouthy cattle dog. She is also wary of strangers, and would love to have a quiet home without many people coming and going.

Read more about Chili

She was not happy in a more urban previous home, so her ideal home would be more rural. She is well behaved around the goats, but is very intense, and I think with training she could absolutely be used to successfully move livestock. She is very receptive to training, and is truly a joy to work with.

If you are ready for a challenge with a wonderful reward, Chili is your girl. I have truly enjoyed having her here, and working with her to become the best version of herself. If you think Chili would be a good fit, please email

16. Jake

Adult (2 years 3 months) · Male · Pointer / Mixed (medium coat) · 24 mi from Levittown

It has been such a joy watching Jake thrive in his foster home. This sweet boy has grown in confidence, learned how wonderful life can be, and discovered that couches, cuddles and being part of a family are pretty great.

Unfortunately, as Jake has blossomed, it has become clear that he and one of his foster brothers have officially outgrown each other.

The bromance has entered its “I think we should see other roommates” era.

No scandal. No dramatic breakup. No one is talking badly about the other on social media. Sometimes two boys just decide they need a little space.

So Jake is looking for a new foster home — or, even better, his forever home.

Read more about Jake

Jake is about 2 years old and 40 lbs and is truly a sweet, gentle baby who sometimes seems to think he’s much bigger than he is. He loves to cuddle, loves to play and, when he’s happy, hops around like a bunny.

Jake has already overcome so much, and we REALLY don’t want the next stop on his journey to be boarding.

18. Duke

Young · Male · Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (short coat) · 7 mi from Levittown

Location: Littleston, PA

Duke, a 9-month-old male Heeler weighing approximately 45 pounds. Duke is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and current on his preventives.

While he can be shy at first, Duke warms up quickly and is incredibly sweet. He is a typical juvenile Heeler—eager to please but full of energy (occasionally earning the nickname "Duke the Destroyer" for his fondness for chewing dog beds). He has great recall and is safe around chickens, horses, cows and cats. He is also fully house-trained with a dog door, crates quietly, and loves playing with other young dogs.

Duke would thrive in a home that provides structure rather than discipline; he does not respond well to yelling or threats and needs a patient environment to feel secure. He generally prefers men, though he is friendly with women as well.

Bringing a dog home to your cat

Tell the rescue about your cat: their age and how they react to dogs. A dog who has lived calmly with one cat may still want to chase a cat that runs.

Introduce them slowly. Keep them apart for the first few days and swap bedding so they get used to each other's scent, then let them meet with the dog on a leash, rewarding calm behavior.

Make sure the cat can always get somewhere the dog can't reach, like a high shelf or a room behind a baby gate, and keep the litter box and cat food out of the dog's way.
