1. Josie
Puppy · Female · Chihuahua / Pug (short coat) · 64 mi from Schenectady

Welcome Josie to CCPAL Rescue. Josie is a Chug (Chihuahua/Pug) puppy. She weighs 4 pounds and is 9 weeks old. She will be a small dog full grown. She should be 12 pounds or less. She is very sweet and has an adorable rounded head. She likes to be held, is good in a crate, goes on a wee pad and loves to play with toys. She was born at the Rescue. They took in a stray female and she was pregnant. This means the puppies get lots of attention and are very used to being in a loud and rowdy environment. Josie would be best in a home that the person doesn’t work all day every day. She needs to finish up her puppy training. Social pups make great adults and now is the time for her to spend time with her family and to go places and let people pet her. She is an AMAZING puppy. She would be fine with children. Due to her small size, we would like children to be 8 or older. She is getting her puppy vaccines and will have 3. She will then be ready for spay and adoption. She can be adopted locally in Texas or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

When someone he loves walks through the door, his excitement is absolutely contagious! This little guy has a wonderful way of making everyday reunions feel like special occasions.
Read more about Moxie

12. Princess
Adult (4 years 2 months) · Female · Chihuahua / Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 80 mi from Schenectady

Meet Princess!
A spirited four-year-old Chihuahua mix currently in San Diego, CA, whose big personality shines through her adorable white coat with golden patches. Weighing just eight pounds, this tiny sweetheart has the confidence of a much larger dog and a heart overflowing with love for her favorite people!
Read more about Princess
Princess takes her royal title seriously! As the self-appointed leader of her canine pack, she enjoys keeping everyone informed about visitors, especially delivery people. She is quick to sound the alarm when someone approaches the door, making her a pint-sized neighborhood watch captain. Although vocal, Princess has no history of biting or snapping. With patience, positive reinforcement, and consistent routines, she can learn to feel more comfortable when visitors arrive.
When she isn't supervising her surroundings, Princess enjoys running, jumping, chasing balls, and playing with soft toys. After an exciting play session, she's equally happy curling up for a relaxing nap. Her favorite place is wherever her special person happens to be!
Princess is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows commands including sit and come. She appreciates predictable feeding and sleeping schedules. Being alone can make her nervous, so a comfortable crate helps keep her settled and away from tempting trash cans.
This affectionate girl gets along with cats and enjoys the company of adults and respectful children, particularly older kids. While she can coexist with other dogs, Princess is selective about her canine companions. She would likely thrive initially as the only dog, with carefully managed introductions if another pup joins her family.
Princess has no known medical conditions, although she experiences some anxiety, and her spay surgery is upcoming. Monthly grooming helps keep her beautiful coat looking lovely. Because she can jump fences, secure outdoor spaces and attentive supervision are important.
Above all, Princess needs a patient, loving family who appreciates her protective spirit, playful energy, and affectionate nature. She'll bring laughter, companionship, and plenty of Chihuahua charm to everyday adventures! Could this tiny queen with a mighty heart be the loving companion you've been waiting to welcome into your family? To learn more about adopting Princess, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com.

17. Obi
Adult (6 years 8 months) · Male · Chinese Crested-Hairless (short coat) · 80 mi from Schenectady

Meet Obi!
A spunky six-and-a-half-year-old Chinese Crested currently in San Diego, CA, whose playful spirit, brilliant mind, and beautiful blue coat with white accents make him an unforgettable little companion. Weighing just 17 pounds, this charming boy has an enormous heart and enough personality to fill any room!
Read more about Obi
Obi's name means "heart," and he certainly lives up to it. Exceptionally loving, intuitive, and delightfully silly, he has a special way of making people smile. Whether he's rolling over, jumping for treats, offering a high-five, or sharing kisses when the mood strikes, Obi knows how to spread joy! His treasured squirrel toy has been his favorite since puppyhood, although Mickey Mouse, squeaky toys, and a lively game of fetch are close contenders.
This clever boy loves learning and already knows commands like stay, come, leave it, and paw. Food rewards and enthusiastic praise make training especially exciting for him! He's house-trained, crate-trained, enjoys car rides, and appreciates companionship.
Obi needs a loving family with two pet parents, including someone with a flexible schedule who can provide regular exercise, meaningful interaction, and plenty of opportunities to explore. Although friendly toward people, he sometimes becomes overly excited on walks and pulls toward other dogs and passersby. Patient, positive reinforcement training will help him practice calmer greetings.
Because introductions with other dogs have been challenging, Obi would benefit from initially being the only dog while his comfort around canine companions is thoughtfully assessed. His compatibility with children and cats remains unknown.
Obi is vaccinated and microchipped. He will be required to be neutered prior to placement in his new home. He manages skin allergies with periodic injections, which have shown improvement, alongside weekly baths, moisturizing, attentive skin care, and regular nail trimming. He also has a history of ear infections.
Above all, Obi is a resilient, affectionate little character who brings laughter, loyalty, and unconditional love to everyday moments! He's ready to share his remarkable heart with a family who appreciates his unique needs and joyful spirit. Could this extraordinary little sweetheart be the missing piece of your heart? 19. Toshi
Young (2 years 3 months) · Male · Dachshund / Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat) · 80 mi from Schenectady

Meet Toshi!
A spirited two-year-old Dachshund/Chihuahua mix currently in Brimfield, MA, whose adorable tricolor coat, playful personality, and loyal heart make this 14-pound sweetheart a delightful companion.
Toshi may be small, but his personality is anything but! This energetic little guy loves going for walks, chewing on his favorite antlers, and spending quality time with his favorite people. Whether he's accompanying you on an adventure or curling up for some well-earned cuddles, Toshi enjoys being part of the family. He even likes car rides, making him a wonderful little travel buddy!
Read more about Toshi
One of Toshi's most endearing qualities is his deep loyalty. He takes time to build trust, but once he feels comfortable, his affectionate side truly shines. He loves kisses, snuggles, and being close to the people who make him feel safe. His early experiences left him cautious, so patience and gentle encouragement are important as he adjusts to unfamiliar surroundings.
Toshi is great with both cats and dogs! He peacefully shares his space with feline friends and enjoys canine companionship. He's also suitable for families with respectful children ages nine and older. Because younger children can make him uncomfortable, a home without little ones will help him feel secure.
This clever boy is house-trained, knows "sit" and "come," and handles short periods alone well. He can be vocal and occasionally cautious around strangers, but positive reinforcement and consistency can help build his confidence. A securely fenced yard or safe outdoor space with supervised, leashed walks is important for this adventurous little explorer.
Toshi is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and healthy. He enjoys a simple routine, including meals twice daily. His new loving home should offer patience, companionship, affection, and plenty of opportunities to play. An active person or couple who understands that trust grows with time could share a beautiful bond with this devoted boy!
Ready to welcome Toshi into your heart and discover just how much love this little companion has to give? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about adopting him!

20. Blanca
Adult · Female · Rat Terrier (short coat) · 64 mi from Schenectady

Welcome Blanca to CCPAL Rescue. She is a 2 year old Rat Terrier mix. She came in from a hoarding situation. We received 3 dogs from this case. One was adopted already and one had to go to a specialized trainer in another Rescue. Blanca has started opening up and allowing people to pet her and hold her. She never got any attention in her original home, the hoarder. She is good with other dogs and causes no issues. She is kennel trained and her response to being afraid is to run and hide. She is a timid girl and not the social butterfly. She would be perfect with a person that is more introverted and wants a pet that is also similar. Blanca would be satisfied being at home with you all the time. A small walk in the yard would be fine. She until now, has not walked on leash. She is learning to do it at our Rescue. She would like a patient owner and a quieter home. An older couple or older single person would be great. Someone with a quieter home. She would be fine kenneled away if you had a party or people over. She is not very vocal and prefers to blend into the woodwork. She is really a great dog for the right family. She is getting her vaccinations, nail trims and will be spayed soon and ready for her forever home. She could be adopted locally in Texas or we could work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. . Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.

22. Yuzu
Adult · Female · Jindo (Korean) / Terrier / Mixed · 41 mi from Schenectady

Located in Brooklyn NYC -Meet Yuzu! A sweet, affectionate girl with a gentle soul, a silly personality, and so much love to give.Yuzu is a 6-year-old, 27-pound South Asian Village Dog who was rescued from the streets of Kathmandu, Nepal. Before coming to the United States, Yuzu was known as an incredibly friendly dog in her neighborhood. She would often visit a local outdoor café, happily approaching people, making friends, and enjoying all the attention. From the very beginning, Yuzu has loved people and children and has always had a special way of connecting with those around her. What makes her wonderful: Yuzu is affectionate, gentle, silly, smart, and incredibly emotionally intuitive.
Read more about Yuzu
She is a true companion dog who loves being close to her people and being included in everyday life. After coming to the United States, Yuzu spent six wonderful years with her family in California. She has lived in both a city with a backyard and a quieter beach town, and she has always enjoyed being part of family life.Yuzu loves cuddling, belly scratches, hiking, beaches, sunbathing, squirrels, lizards, and especially beach zoomies! She has a fun and playful side, but she is also perfectly happy relaxing beside her people. She is house trained, crate trained, comfortable being home alone, and has excellent house manners. She is very food motivated, knows her basic commands, and responds beautifully to positive reinforcement.Yuzu absolutely loves children and has successfully lived with several cats. She also enjoys the company of gentle, playful dogs she knows and trusts. She is a devoted little companion who wants nothing more than to feel safe, loved, and included in her family's everyday life. What She Needs: Yuzu would thrive in a quieter, peaceful environment where she doesn't have to constantly navigate the overwhelming stimulation of a busy city. Since moving to New York City, her family has realized that the loud noises, constant activity, and sheer number of dogs and people have been very difficult for her. The amount of stimulation has been overwhelming for her, and her family is concerned about her quality of life in this environment.Yuzu can be nervous around unfamiliar larger dogs, particularly when she is on leash. When she becomes overwhelmed or frightened, she may bark or lunge out of fear. This is something she has made meaningful progress with over the years through patience, positive reinforcement, and support. Her family believes she would be much happier in a quieter area with less dog traffic, access to nature, and ideally a yard.Yuzu needs someone who understands sensitive dogs and is willing to give her patience, consistency, and reassurance as she continues building confidence. She doesn't need a busy lifestyle—she needs a peaceful one. A home where she can enjoy walks in quieter areas, spend time outdoors, relax in her yard, and be close to her people would be ideal.Health: Yuzu is a happy and healthy girl, although her anxiety has increased since moving to the city, and she is currently on a full dose of anxiety medication to help her cope with the environment. Her family is seeking a home where she can experience less stimulation and hopefully enjoy a better quality of life. She has excellent house manners, is house and crate trained, and is comfortable being left home alone. Why we're rehoming her: This is an incredibly difficult decision for Yuzu's family because they love her very much. Yuzu has spent six happy years with them in California, and she has been a cherished member of their family. They have watched her grow, traveled through different environments with her, and know how loving and special she is.Unfortunately, since moving to New York City, they have realized that the busy urban environment is simply too overwhelming for Yuzu. The constant noise, activity, and high density of dogs have made it difficult for her to feel comfortable and relaxed. Her family doesn't want her to spend her life feeling ov

Overview
Meet Celia, an adorable 7-month-old, 10-pound brown purebred Dachshund puppy. Celia came to Little Paws as an owner surrender after her previous owner no longer had enough time to care for her. She is a playful, affectionate puppy with a joyful little personality who is all about love and happiness.
Environment
Read more about Celia
Celia has a high energy level and loves going on walks, playing every day, and getting active exercise. She walks well on a leash and loves exploring. She has not tried crate training as she hasn't needed a crate so far. Because she has separation anxiety and can be quite chatty and vocal when left alone, she is not suitable for living arrangements with shared walls like apartments or townhomes. She needs an adopter willing to work on the separation anxiety. She relies on pee pads for her indoor potty routine.
Pets & People
Celia absolutely loves other dogs and is always ready to play, frequently trying to get resident dogs to join in her games. She is happiest when she has another dog around to interact with. With people, Celia is very nervous and skittish when first meeting new people, so she needs a little time, space, and patience to feel comfortable. She has never growled or tried to bite, and she has been curious around children and babies, approaching them cautiously before building confidence. She is highly food-motivated and will try to steal food if given the chance, but she responds wonderfully to quick verbal corrections.
Location
Celia is available for adoption from Doral, FL. Please email applications@littlepawsdr.org with any questions or complete an adoption application at the button above.
The adoption fee for Celia is $600.00.

Welcome Maverick to CCPAL Foster Program. Maverick is a 4-year-old Chiweenie. He weighs about 19 pounds. He is good on a leash, good in a car. He is potty trained and very loyal to his person. He knows “go for a walk”, “stop”, “leave it”, “It’s the neighbor” and a few other commands. He is in a home and the owner is having some very big financial issues and need to find Maverick a new home. Maverick has some allergies to food and the food that he can is a Duck and Potato kibble. He has some allergies to grass. He has taken Apoquel successfully to handle the allergies. He warms up slowly and is very loyal and bonded once he has bonded. He would be great for a senior couple or single wanting a companion. A nice yard for him to get exercise in would be nice or someone that could have the time to take him on a couple of walks would be great. He isn’t the social butterfly that some dogs are so a matching owner would be the best fit. He would be a great dog to alert you to someone at the door or something being off in the environment. He is good on walks and would help a senior be more active. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He could go with children but we would like them to be teens. I think a quieter home would be best for this boy. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Welcome Johnny to CCPAL Rescue. Johnny is a 7-month-old Pug mixed pup. He is a beautiful tan color with a black muzzle. He has an underbite and a shortened nose. He is a bigger-sized boy pup in the liter. He weighs about 15 pounds now and will be a small dog full grown. He has an adorable underbite and is great with other dogs. He is active but not over the top. He has the curly tail like the traditional pug but maybe the curl is less tight. He is a laid-back boy and was easy to take photos with. They all have curly tails and the round adorable heads. Johnny is one of two boys in the litter. He was the last puppy to come out of his kennel as he was enjoying his nap.
Read more about Johnny
He was very workable and stood still and sat willingly on the table for the photo shoot. They are all affectionate and cuddly. They are very playful with their siblings. Johnny is social and would be a great dog to take to the local coffee shop. He loves all people and is call in loud situations. They go on a wee pad but are not fully potty trained. They are good in a crate and are getting regular attention and love at the Rescue. We don’t have the privilege of adopting out many pugs. We are excited to find the pug pups their forever home. We would love pug people for these pups, as they know the breed most. They will be spayed and neutered and ready for their forever home soon. Someone that doesn’t work all day every day is the best candidate for a puppy. These pups would be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older as these pups are small and very trusting of everyone.
