6. Puppy Winnie
Puppy · Female · Hound / Border Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 48 mi from Clarksville

Some puppies are simply easy to picture in your life, and beautiful Winnie is one of those special girl puppies. Can you picture a happy little face following you into the backyard, chasing a ball, exploring every corner, and then coming back to you because being near her people is really the best part? That is Winnie. She is playful without being wild, curious without being reckless, and affectionate without needing to be glued to you every second. She is a puppy who wants to be involved in life with her family.Winnie was born July 11 as one of twelve puppies to a beautiful red, scruffy Border Terrier mix mama.
Read more about Puppy Winnie
She has been raised in a wonderful foster environment surrounded by children, other dogs, and adults who have handled, cuddled, and socialized her from the beginning. Those early experiences have helped Winnie become a confident, loving puppy who is ready to continue learning with her forever family. We think Winnie will be an especially wonderful fit for a family who enjoys being together and wants a dog who can grow up alongside them. She would love a fenced yard for those backyard adventures, a family willing to play fetch and teach her new things, and people who will appreciate her sweet, thoughtful nature. She is smart and eager to learn, so a family who enjoys training and watching a puppy discover her talents will have a lot of fun with her.Winnie is expected to grow into a beautiful 45–50 pound girl with a short coat. She is still very much a puppy, which means she is also in the “everything goes in my mouth” phase. Fingers are currently competing with chew toys for her attention, so we feel older children, 10+, would be the best fit. She will need patient adults who can give her consistent guidance and redirect that puppy enthusiasm toward appropriate toys. But underneath those puppy teeth is a girl with an enormous capacity to love. Winnie is thoughtful, affectionate, playful, and wonderfully curious. She is going to be the kind of dog who learns your routines, knows when it is time to play and when it is time to settle down, and eventually becomes the companion who seems to have always belonged there. If you are looking for a puppy who can be your backyard playmate, your adventure buddy, your student, your shadow, and eventually your best friend, Winnie may be exactly the girl you have been waiting for.Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com

7. Puppy Teddie
Puppy · Male · Hound / Mixed (short coat) · 48 mi from Clarksville

Teddie — A Little Explorer With a Big Heart Some puppies are perfectly content to sit back and watch the world go by. Teddie is not one of those puppies! Teddie came into this world as one of Biscuit’s very special 12 puppies. His momma was found as a stray living in the woods and trying to survive by eating from neighborhood garbage cans. Thankfully, a kind family took her in during the middle of May, only to discover that she was expecting a very big family of her own. On July 11th, Biscuit gave birth to 12 puppies, and foster mom Celeste took an entire month off from work to make sure their new little family had everything they needed.

Now Teddie is ready to take his next adventure—finding his forever family. This boy is smart, curious and always ready to see what’s happening next. He loves to run, explore and investigate his surroundings, and you can almost see the wheels turning in his head as he discovers something new. He is the puppy who will happily follow you on an adventure and make sure he doesn’t miss a thing. But after all that exploring, Teddie has another favorite activity: being held like a baby. That’s when his softer side comes out. Once he has had enough running and playing, he is perfectly happy to curl up in your arms and soak up some love. There’s something pretty irresistible about a puppy who can go from little adventurer to cuddle bug in a matter of minutes. Teddie is expected to grow to around 45 pounds, making him a wonderful medium-sized companion when he is all grown up. He is already turning heads with his handsome black and tan tri-color coat—and those eyes! Just look at them. They have a way of making you feel like he is looking straight into your heart. Teddie has the intelligence to keep you entertained, the curiosity to keep life interesting and the affectionate nature to make you wonder how you ever lived without him. He is expected to do well with dogs, cats and children, making him the kind of puppy who could fit beautifully into many different types of families. His life began with a momma who was simply trying to survive. Now Teddie has the chance to grow up knowing something very different: what it feels like to be safe, cherished and completely loved. He’s ready for his forever adventure. Maybe it’s one that starts with you.

9. Puppy Jay Jay
Puppy · Male · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 48 mi from Clarksville

It was a hot Sunday afternoon, late in the day and a pick up truck approached the bridge going over the small river tributary. Some black dots were scurrying around like little squirrels that were not sure that direction to go. Soon it would be dark and the group would be in even greater danger. They were black Lab mix puppies. All around 15 pounds and all were covered in fleas and of course dirt from never having had a bath in their life. There were 7 and Jay Jay was one of those abandoned 7 pups. The man wasn't going to take them home. He wanted no part of them nor to be stuck with them at his place. A kind woman stepped forward and soon the news trickled down to Critter Cavalry's exceptional foster mom who took two of them in.
Jay Jay is learning what air conditioning is like and what a good bath scrub down feels like as the warm water pours over his body washing away his past. He is a lucky pup and receiving love and good food and some normalcy that we are sure he never had before. He is good with other dogs and still hesitant to just go running up quickly to a new stranger. He wants to but he just cannot trust to do that yet. He will come to those that he knows. Two weeks is not enough time to reprogram a young soul that has never been a part of a family. But since he is young he will become new in all the ways of learning trust. He knows about pee pads and would love a fenced yard to run with true fun and free abandon any time his human can let him outside. This boy will be a 75 pound Lab when fully grown. We think he might have a touch of hound in him.... no Pitbull that we can see at all. We know nothing of his parents, just that someone carelessly threw his litter out of a car or truck on that bridge and sped off and never looked back. Jay Jay is looking forward and we are encouraging him every day to learn a leash and harness can be his doorway to experiencing exciting new places and good fun walks. If you are interested in this handsome boy who is ALL BOY DOG, then write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com He is ready for a new home and neutered with all shots and microchip and dewormings done. Healthy, sweet and on his way to finding all the happiness that a new family is willing to give

10. Puppy Susye
Puppy · Female · Cattle Dog / Terrier / Mixed (short coat) · 48 mi from Clarksville

Meet Susye — A Young Girl Ready for a Home of Her Own
Read more about Puppy Susye
Sometimes the best dogs have the hardest beginnings.
Susye’s second chance began when a Nashville Fire Department EMT realized that the homeless woman caring for her would not be leaving the hospital. He could not bear the thought of this young dog being left with nowhere to go, so he brought Susye home and made sure she was safe.
For the past months
Susye has been living with her firefighter foster dad and his four dogs. She has been a happy, peaceful addition to the family and has settled into home life beautifully. She is crate trained when needed, loves using the dog door, and enjoys spending time in the fenced backyard.
Now fully vetted and spayed, Susye is was born approximately the first of January 2026 and is ready for a forever home with the stability she deserves. She weighs 43 pounds.
We believe Susye may be a
Terrier and Heeler mix
. She is bright, active, affectionate, and eager to be part of whatever is happening. Like many young herding and fast as the wind. She will do best with regular exercise, engagement, and continued training.
Although Susye adores her foster dog siblings, they are all older. Her foster dad cannot help but think she would especially love a home with a
younger, playful dog companion
who can match her energy and enjoy growing up alongside her.
Her firefighter foster dad also works 12-hour shifts, and caring for five dogs has become more than he can reasonably maintain long-term. Susye is loved and safe, but this was always meant to be her stepping stone—not her final destination.
She would thrive with a family that can give her companionship, consistency, playtime, and plenty of opportunities to use her smart young mind. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful, and another playful dog would be a big bonus.
Susye has already experienced more uncertainty than any puppy should. Now she is ready for the part of her story where she belongs somewhere for good. If you are interested please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at

11. Puppy Ollie
Puppy · Male · Australian Shepherd / Mixed · 48 mi from Clarksville

Ollie by Golly is the kind of puppy who makes people smile the moment they meet him.
This handsome mostly Australian Shepherd boy has a soft semi-long coat, beautiful eyes, and a gentle personality that is hard to find. Ollie does have limited vision on his left side because his left eye is genetically smaller than his right, but it does not slow him down one bit. His veterinarian says he is comfortable, doing great, and does not need any surgery. Ollie has learned to navigate the world just fine and is full of confidence, curiosity, and puppy joy.
Read more about Puppy Ollie
He is a sweet, easygoing little guy who is incredibly gentle with a 3-year-old toddler in his foster home. He also does wonderfully with older children, adults, and people he meets. Ollie has no fearfulness and no rough edges to his personality—just a soft heart and a happy spirit.
When he is not cuddling near his people, Ollie is busy doing important puppy things: chasing bubbles, watching butterflies, sniffing every inch of the yard, playing fetch, wrestling gently with his dog friends, and joining in on the morning zoomies. He may even decide a bullfrog is worth investigating if one happens to cross his path.
Ollie has been in foster care for three weeks and has already blossomed into such a happy, loving boy. His foster mom has been delighted to watch his personality shine brighter every day. He would love a home with children, another playful dog, or simply people who want a loyal little companion close by.
If you are looking for a puppy who is handsome, gentle, playful, and wonderfully special, Ollie by Golly may be your perfect match. Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com to learn more. Please include your city and state. Ollie is fostered in Tennessee, and adoption is available in Tennessee as well as throughout the Northeastern corridor with weekly transport.

Adopting a puppy in Clarksville
Puppies usually go to their new homes from about eight weeks old, once they're weaned and have had their first vaccinations. Most rescues spay or neuter them before adoption, or include it in the fee.
Ask the rescue how big the puppy is expected to grow and which breeds they think are in the mix, so you can plan for the dog they'll become.
Puppies need a lot of your time: house-training, a few minutes of training every day, several small meals, and someone home often enough to let them out. A puppy class is a good way to start.
