Right now that's 3 puppys, 2 young dogs and 4 adults.
1. Robby
Adult (3 years 6 months) · Male · Golden Retriever / Great Pyrenees / Mixed (long coat)

Looking to adopt a 'special' case? Thank goodness!Robby (fka Robin) came to us from Ensenada (baja) the first week of October and is currently staying at casa de ARWOB and living among several other adoptable rescue dogs and cats. Robby is a huge baja mutt which means he looks like a Golden, oversized Spaniel and some say Pyr. The likelyhood of a Pyr runnign the streets is minimal but we have not done (and will not be doing) a DNA test so these breeds are just from aesthetics and a bit on personality. Robby was rescued by someone who lives in Ensenada, Mexico back in february. He was skin and bones, was unable to move during a rainy day as he was under an embackment it took a bit to secure him as he was very weak and getting down to him and up was an ordeal for the good sams but they knew this dog needed help and were not going to leave without him.
Read more about Robby
Euthanasia or saving it did not matter, he needed help. Once secured took him to a vet who weigh him at only 20kgs (very thin and almost no muscle mass) the rescuers kept him and helped him recover. Fast fwd months they seeked help to adopt him out or move him to a group with no luck. An ARWOB rescue partner heard of his plea and helped get him going ei neuter etc in september and then he came to San Diego where he landed at casa de ARWOB. What we realized is this pup is VERY heavy. Not sure if its lack of excercise where he was or too much "love" and over conpensated for his lack of nutrition before. When Robin (now called Robby) arrived san diego he was 69 pounds. As of late October he is now 65 pounds. Measured meals and just running/walking mostly around the yard with fellow arwob dog friends is really getting him down and we have noticed a significant improvemnt on his movement. At first we did not know if he was an older dog or perhaps just obese. We can say this guy can walk and use stairs no problem, he will play around the yard with his dog friends and LOVES to be part of a pack of humans or dogs. However, we believe he likely has an old injury (ies) either his hips, hind legs or knees. We are debating taking xrays as whatever it is it will NOT be fixable. The people who helped this dog likely never noticed maybe back then at a thin size and recovering he moved more and now that he is a big boy and is slowly loosing weight perhaps we will see an increase in his activity BUT for now, we do NOT see this guy as somone who can go on miles a day on a walk. MAYBE one mile or just whatever amount of walk/movement he wants in the yard interacting with dogs but if you are looking for long distance or high intensity movement partner this guy is not going to be it. Ideally an easy going home who wants an easy going companion would be the best for him. IF we do xrays likely will be done early November so we can have more info for potential adopters should this movement be a factor for someone to choose him. Robby is a silly goofy, easy going, gentle dog who is a really good dog and human companion. He has zero issues with dogs. He is not a socialitite with people and its a slow warming up but from the interactions we have seen within a few minutes of walking or saying hi he warms up to humans, just do not expect waggy tail approaching for pets from him when he first meets you...once you are his human either foster or adopter then YES he is all waggy tails and lovely boy who seeks human attention without an iota of separation anxiety. He is doing great on potty and crate training. In ensenada he was in a home with cats, we don't know how 'good' he was with them. At casa de ARWOB he does not interact with cats on his own. We think a cat who holds its ground and is NOT a scary cat ei runs from him will be fine. He seems safe BUT he can also really observe him so we can't say completely if he is going to be well paired with cats. If anyone interested in him has cats, we are happy to expose him more and observe him more with cats to see if he is chill or not. It will also be very cat pers

2. Ringo
Adult (2 years 11 months) · Male · Terrier / Poodle (Miniature) / Mixed (medium coat)

Looking to adopt a gentle yet fun soul? Perfect! Ringo is a handsome solid colored mutt. Focus on the mutt wording. He comes to us from ensenada as a owner relinquishment. He was bought as a pup by a couple 3yrs ago. Once they separated 6mo ago they rehomed him to someone. That someone passed him to a local indie rescuer in Ensenada back in July because they are moving and now this cutie is under ARWOB care in san diego. He is the new kid on the block and so far he has been pretty amazing. Gentle, very dog friendly and playful with all dogs. He really does have puppy energy, shy at first but pretty quick to open up to them.
Read more about Ringo
He can be insecure at first with people but it only took a day for him to trust his new caretaker. He is crate trained and with his thin long legs and slender built he likely would be an amazing excercise partner. He is you typical small breed energy, silly, playful, loving and a terrier who probably has some sort of poodle BUT we have no idea meaning, we have no idea if he is hypoallergenic, he DOES shed like any other dog. If you are looking for a none shedder and hypo dog, he likely is not it. As of October he is fostered at casa de ARWOB along with many other adoptable dogs and cats. He has received most or all of her vet care here in san diego. He only spends time with the felines supervised when in the home but so far we can say he is pretty safe around cats. Very dog friendly and social towards humans, fairly gentle until he knows you then he has no personal space towards them, ha ha. Ringo is certainly a good gentle soul who is friendly and playful. Interested? Submit an application online at ARWOB.org so we can text or email to schedule a call once we receive an application. If the bio is still up it means he is still available for adoption. Check ARWOB.org for adoption events (we rarely hold events and prefer to do one on one meet ups at a community park for neutral meets with a very flexible schedule for meets during daylight hours) EMAIL us with any further questions or to speed the process submit an application, Pooches Gracias!

3. Nala
Young (6 months) · Female · Dachshund / Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Looking to adopt a social butterfly? Excellent! Nala is a beautiful brindle colored mutt. Focus on the mutt wording. She comes to us fromt he streets of Tijuana as a street pup. She has been in San Diego since September and has received most or all of her vet care here in san diego. Currently fostered at 'casa de arwob' meaning along with several adoptable dogs and cats. Her BFF is Robby but Pickles, Carmie and Happy are her buds too. She only spends time with the felines supervised when in the home but she is very playful in their face kinda pup so she is best paired with a cat who is secured of itself and not a scardy cat who will run when a pup comes full throttle of excitement to say hi, she is safe around kitties but very playful, of course adopters can slow intro on both species.
Read more about Nala
She adores humans and dogs. Healthy, small breed baja mutt which means she is likely a super mutt with a large and small breed combined to have a small medium breed as we suspect she MAY reach 20lbs. She has a low rider body ei long and short legs with a LONG strong waggy tail. She is very playful, active and perfect for an active household. She is crate trained and just a bundle of joy. Interested? Submit an application online at ARWOB.org so we can text or email to schedule a call once we receive an application. If the bio is still up it means she is still available for adoption. 4. Pickles.
Young (8 months) · Male · Shepherd / German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Pickles! Below is a new bio for Pickles and is updated as of 9/1/26:Pickles is 46 pounds expected to reach mid 50's (his mom is Carmi and is 42 pounds) he has his sister Sophie. If you are looking for 2 dogs Pickles, sophie, Carmie and Happy are his bff's but the best match would be Pickles and his mom Carmi and even better just Pickles. He would he happy in a home with other pets or as a single pet as long as he is adopted by someone who can keep him socialized among other dogs frequently as he loves dog friends. Pickles is such a handsome shepherd mix rescued from the streets of Tijuana, Mexico when his mama Carmi gave birth to a litter of 7 pups and a good sam took her in and her pups.
Read more about Pickles.
They seeked assistance for the family of 8 around January and we took the family in to come across to foster in February. Pickles and fam were all fostered by a family in san diego with 4 children ranging 4-12yrs old and couple of large breed dogs which means they had amazing socialization. He came to casa de ARWOB late March as a foster along with some of the sibs and mom and has been here since then. I am his 'foster mom' but realistically I have many foster dogs and cats and I don't do one on one training like a normal foster or an owner can focus on their own dogs. I do have to say he is an amazing teenager! Forget that he is a very handsome dog. He is loyal, intelligent and social. I would say he is almost perfect but there is no such thing as a perfect shepherd or working breed ha haPickles is amazing in his crate, house and potty trained. He is wonderful with children, men, woman, cats and all dogs. He has shown no separation anxiety, he has not shown off or on reactivity towards people or dogs*. He enjoys car rides and walks/hikes (i don't run but he RUNS like a gazzel off leash) so would be a wonderful running companion. Pickles only has ONE negative that can easily be worked out once he is in a different home either foster or adopter to work one on one with him. The only "con" for Pickles is his shepherd gene is strong. Meaning. When he goes to the dog park, it has to be specific times because until someone (a foster or adopter) works with his recall he can't be trusted at dog parks (not because of aggression) BUT because when a dog runs full speed, lets say someone is playing chuck it or a dog is getting the zoomies where it runs like crazy and wants the other dogs to chase it and the whole dog park is going full blast Pickles is also going full blast "trying to catch' that dog. Which is fine in most dogs BUT not on certain dogs like Pickles who think its their "job" and once they catch that dog he can be a bit too much in that dogs space which may turn into a nippy situation which is a big no no and potential issue. So, we prevent that at all cost. I end up going to dog park and if i see a situation with dogs running like that he goes on a long lead and just inside the dog park or leave lead loose and grab it to stop him from getting into his 'zone' this is not ideal but he loves to socialize with people and dogs at dog parks. SO, if you are interested in Pickles you must enroll in dog training to nip this in the but and a trainer can tell you how to work on this probably good recall, etc. This also means sometimes (rare) he will see a dog being walked on leash and will try to bark/react but that is nipped immediatelly with a correction and he is pretty good, he does not do it all the time and not all the dogs and once we approach dogs on leash to say hi he is of course all happy face, its really just excitement and male young SHEPHERD behavior. If you are looking to adopt a medium to larger breed and the breed then you should know this is common and hence dog training is a must for anyone adopting these breeds. Sure you may choose a younger dog because it doesn't exhibit the behavior now but it will as it grow ups unless you do basic dog training with a dog trainerr....there is no such thing as a perfet dog but Pickles is pr

5. Beauty
Adult (2 years) · Female · German Shepherd Dog (short coat)

Meet Beauty!update 08/31/26Beauty is doing great! She is one intelligent dog and walking her is such an easy talk. it's rare to see shepherds with zero reactivity during walks towards people or dogs. Dogs can bark at her and she ignores them. Unfortunately a couple of times we have encountered people walking their off Leash dogs who have zero training and recall coming up to us and beauty has been a champ. If the other dog tries something she will growl back but she holds back. She is ok with humans, ignores them During outings. If people come into the home she will bark as most guard dogs do but easily quiets down when you tell her. She is definitely a dog that loves and trust her peopleand her people can trust she is safe with them but for new strangers to just come up to her and pet her is not her "thing" she is Not really seeking attention and introductions need to be properly done. she Has not shown any aggression To people. She has been mingling with the arwob dogs and is good, we can Tell she is definitely a dog that"bossy" personality meaning if a dog comes up to her personal space like a pup jumping on her she will tolerate but will put them down when they are out of control, same if she has her ball and they try to grab it.
we can say she would be an excellent companion for someone who wants a protector who they can trust while enjoying outings like walks or car drives or enjoying dinner at a pet friendly location. She will be good As an only dog but enjoys dogs she gets to know. We don't believe she will be a dog park kind of dog but perhaps that's for a new owner to determine Once basic training has been instilled. For now, IF you are looking for a working dog she seems to love to have a job she likes to learn and is up for doing something. She is a very patient dog who just chills in the home and fun outside during outings or during yard play Time.

Beauty is an amazing dog with a heartbreaking past—and an incredible capacity to love, trust, and learn.
The important facts first: Beauty is a 2-year-old, full-grown, spayed female who is healthy, house-trained, and crate-trained. She is a true German Shepherd Dog (GSD), with all the loyalty, intelligence, devotion, and breed characteristics that come with being a GSD.
If you’re not familiar with the GSD breed, please take the time to do the research and understand their needs. If you’re still interested after learning about the breed, we would love to have you apply to foster, foster-to-adopt, or adopt Beauty. While we are open to foster-to-adopt arrangements, finding Beauty her forever home is our priority.
Despite everything she has been through, and we’ll get to that in a minute, she is loving, loyal, affectionate with the people she trusts, and eager to learn. She already knows basic commands including sit, down, shake, and up, even though she has had very little formal training.
Her absolute favorite thing? FETCH. The moment she sees a tennis ball her whole personality comes alive. If you have a yard where you can play fetch with her, we suspect you will have one very happy dog.
Beauty is currently living at Casa de ARWOB with other foster dogs and cats. She is a wonderful companion. She enjoys walks, rides beautifully in the truck, and loves being outside. She is not a terrible leash puller, and we believe she will improve significantly with consistent training. She has had essentially no formal training, which means her potential is enormous. Imagine what this girl could become when she finally has someone who can dedicate time, structure, patience, and positive training to her.
On day 1 with us, she was understandably cautious. During our first 12 hours together, she was unsure of me, but she quickly began to relax. Today, I can brush her, bathe her, give injections, trim her nails, open her mouth, clean her ears, and handle her without concern. This is a dog who wants to trust her people. She just needs someone willing to earn that trust.

6. Carmi.
Adult (2 years) · Female · Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Are you looking to adopt or foster a young adult medium breed who is social and friendly towards all humans and dogs? Excellent! Keep reading about this sweetheart.
This bio has been updated as of 7/19/26 and as Carmi's foster mom for 4 months I know her very well and can say this is who she is:
Carmi is a baja mutt rescued from the streets of Tijuana early pregnant and unfortunately, she gave birth before ARWOB could get involved and spay her. The pups were born mid-December. She had a litter of 8 pups (7 survived) and we STILL have 2 of her puppers available for adoption and looking for foster as well.
Read more about Carmi.
All 3 fostered together at casa de arwob. We do NOT know what Carmi's breed is but knowing she is from baja she is a SUPER MUTT aka likely good percentage pitbull, shepherd, would not be surprised poodle or chihuahua or some weird pure breed comes out of left field! ha ha
IF you are looking to adopt a NO PITBULL looks/genes whatsoever dog, then this girl is likely NOT the one for ya and we recommend you search for other rescues to adopt. If breed is not important for you and just looking for an EXCELLLENT match on your needs, then keep reading because we know Carmi very well having her in San Diego since early February in foster homes. Carmi first was fostered for a month along with her pups while nursing back in February in a foster home with 4 children ranging in the 5 to 10yr of age and a couple of resident adult large breed dogs. She was perfect. We moved her to casa de arwob in March to separate her and give her a MUCH-needed break from her pups. At casa de ARWOB we have multiple foster dogs of all ages, breeds, size and she has always done amazing. We also have foster cats and she is separated from them through a baby gate as she is too interested in them. She is very manageable, but she will do best in a home with no small critters (cats, mice, rabbits, probably birds) IF a stray cat jumps in yard, you can easily have her stop or not start a chase as she easily responsive to leadership. She never wants to be in trouble with people, and her feelings can get hurt easily if she is told a HARD NO. She will response and not chase. During walks she is easily entertained by looking into bushes or seeing what lizards etc are scurry around. She pulls on the leash but easily can be corrected when she is adopted by her human to do the one on one dog training and good leash manners, thankfully she does NOT go crazy on 'prey drive' even when she is walked by the beach by the rocks and many stray cats or squirrels by the rocks are teasing her you can comfortably walk her, she will be much better once she is though loose leash walking to not pull. I LOVE that Carmi has never exhibited any leash reactivity or dog selectivity on or off leash. She is a great dog park dog as well as a partner to walk. She loves walks and to socialize. Carmi is an EXCELLENT house dog. Easy, in all senses. NO anxiety, potty trained, perfect in crate, not a vocal dog but has a good bark when she does. She doesn't destroy or chew things, very easy and mindful. Looking for a social dog you can take to dog park, dog beach, restaurants, dog friendly places, she's your gal. She is intelligent and good hearted loyal girl who everyone adores when they meet her especially at the dog park. She loves to run with dogs, she plays tug of war with toys, sometimes she will fetch but not as some dogs, she will play with toys and sometimes destuff them but not to a huge degree, just once in a while. She is mostly chill, enjoys walks and dog/human companionship. She is Healthy fully vetted, and the only negative thing would be she does get car sick. Typically hypersalivates and sometimes will chuck stuff. We have come to learn she has a 10-20min time frame driving before she starts getting nauseous. She enjoys car rides and will happily jump up, so if you are looking for a dog to do long trips you best follow a protocol to prevent, minimize and simplify how to handle this l

7. Chillie
Puppy (5 months 29 days) · Female · Shepherd / Terrier / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Chillie!
Chillie was rescued from the streets of Ensenada by one of our rescue partners, who lives in Baja. She is currently fostering Chillie in Ensenada, but we can make arrangements to bring Chillie to San Diego to meet potential foster or adoptive families once we have approved their application. Please submit an application online at ARWOB.org or you can email us if you have questions about this adorable pup, who is soon to be a teenager. Like most Baja mutts, she has shepherd genes, but given her smaller size and face, she likely also has the genes of breeds such as Chihuahua and/or Terrier.
Read more about Chillie
We anticipate that she will grow to be in the 30-40 pound range when full grown and will be a medium sized breed. If you are interested in a medium sized mutt and have the time for this young soul, please let us know by submitting an application online and we can schedule a phone call to start the process.
Here is what Chillie’s rescue/foster mom has to say about her so far: Chilaquil is a personal rescue of mine. I spotted her near my house a few days prior to her rescue day. I was trying to help a different female adult dog that I had seen in the area and I engaged the help of some street vendors with a Chilaquiles cart. It turned out that the adult dog was taken by another woman, but they introduced Chilaquil to me. I had a different rescue at the time, who was almost ready to be brought to the USA, so I waited 3-4 days until I was ready to welcome Chilaquil to my house. She got along well with my other 2 adult dogs upon arrival and by the second day, she learned to use the doggy door. She now sleeps through the night in her crate by herself in the laundry room and for the last two days, we’ve had no accidents (poo or pee) in the house. I have not introduced her to the leash yet, as walking dogs in the streets of Mexico is pretty impossible because of the stray dog population, but I will work with her at home or at the local park soon.
