1. Joe

Young (8 months) · Male · Cane Corso Mastiff / Mixed (short coat) · 99 mi from Cleveland

Joe just showed up at a family's home and stayed. After attempts to find the owner failed, it was clear he was dumped.

He’s very sweet and easy going but still a very strong dominant type dog. We would prefer someone with experience with this breed but will consider if they’ll sign up for training. Amazingly smart and dedicated dogs as long as well socialized and time is spent with them.

We're saying only older, sturdy kids because he is so large and strong.

Age: 9 months

Weight: 68 lbs

Temperament: Gets along with cats, dogs and older sturdy kids

Training: needs basic training

Vetting: neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative

3. Gerald

Adult (1 year) · Male · Great Pyrenees (long coat) · 99 mi from Cleveland

Meet Gerald, a giant, cuddly baby who is 100% convinced he’s a lapdog! Sweet as can be and endlessly goofy, this oversized puppy gets along wonderfully with kids of all ages, adults, and other dogs. When he’s not throwing his favorite squeaky toys around the room, Gerald’s primary mission is snuggling—whether that means laying across your feet, leaning in for endless pets, or using you as his personal mattress. Because he thrives on human connection and just wants to be part of the action, Gerald would do best with a family where someone works from home or is open to doggy daycare. His ideal adopters won't mind a little extra fur, routine drool, and a gentle giant who is still learning spatial awareness and realizing he's slightly too big to actually fit in your lap.

5. Lady

Adult · Female · Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) · 64 mi from Cleveland

See Courtesy Posting Disclaimer *
Hi, my name is Lady. I am a 3-year-old black Lab. I am in foster in Knoxville, Tennessee, from Texoma Dog Ranch Rescue in Texas. I was stressed out at the Dog Ranch being in kennels all the time and around a lot of loud dogs, so I was lucky enough to find a foster. I am a really sweet and smart girl.
I weigh 54 pounds, and I have been spayed and fully vetted, and even have a health certificate. I will come with 3 months heartworm preventative and 3 months flea and tick control. I know some basic commands, and I am house-trained and crate-trained. And I do not get on the furniture.

Read more about Lady

I do have a little bit of a fear of men but it doesn't take me long with some understanding to start to feel comfortable. I have been in my foster home for a little over a week, and I have really started coming out of my shell... oh, and by the way, I am dog-friendly, as my foster has two little dachshunds.
I would do well in just about any home, but preferably without younger kids, as I am quite large and might accidentally bump into one. I would absolutely love a home that was active and could take me on lots of walks and hikes, as I do really good on a leash and do not pull. I really hope I can find my forever home! If somebody will just give me a chance and let me get comfortable and get over my fears, I will do great. I promise I am a kind, gentle soul and will love you forever.
I would also love a fenced in yard to play in and run Zoomies. My foster has a privacy fence which is perfect, but I think as long as your fence is 5 feet or higher I will do fine and not try to escape, I promise. Is there anyone out there that will give me a chance? I was rescued from a shelter a day before I was supposed to be euthanized due to space, so I know I have a purpose for someone out there. For more information on me please email texomadogcoordinator@gmail.com. Also applications can be found at www.texomadogrescue.com

13. Peachtree Connie

Young (9 months) · Female · Shepherd / Mixed · 83 mi from Cleveland

Meet Peachtree Connie - an 8 month old, German Shepherd mix with a sweet heart, a bright mind, and a whole lot of love to give.

When she’s fully grown, Connie will be a sturdy, athletic companion at about 50–60 pounds: big enough to keep up on adventures, compact enough to snuggle close. She’s crate trained and leash trained, and she’s working hard on potty training like any good puppy her age.

Read more about Peachtree Connie

She’s very smart and picks things up quickly, especially when there’s a game of fetch involved. Toss a toy and watch her light up! She loves to play and loves even more to be with her people. Connie is a little shy at first and takes some time to warm up, but once she trusts you, she’s all in. She’s good with older children, big dogs, and cats, and she’s looking for an active home that will give her exercise, patience, and plenty of togetherness.

Give this girl a little space to bloom and she’ll reward you with loyalty, playfulness, and a devoted companion who just wants to be part of the family. If you’re ready for walks, fetch sessions, and a smart girl who’ll grow into her confidence right beside you, Peachtree Connie might be your girl.

Young (8 months) · Male · Mountain Cur / Mixed (short coat) · 76 mi from Cleveland

This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions.

Read more about Gunner

Gunner believes with his whole heart that the best place in the world is wherever you happen to be. This gentle Mountain Cur mix is about 7.5 months old and weighs 45 pounds, carrying a low-medium energy level with a big, loving heart. He lives for being petted and loved on, and honestly, that would be his whole world if he could get it. He enjoys playing with his foster puppy sibling and lazily chasing a ball, and he is still a little uncoordinated during fetch, which only adds to his charm. He is quiet by nature and sleeps soundly through the night. Gunner is fully housetrained with no accidents in his foster home, and he did well riding in a crate in the car. He is learning to sit for meals and is working on putting his feet up on a retaining wall to get pets instead of jumping, since his enthusiasm for affection sometimes gets the better of him. He is also making great progress on leash walking, and is now confidently walking around the fields near his foster home.

He does well with other dogs and has shown curiosity toward the goats, though his intentions there are still a bit of a mystery. Gunner is not a good fit around chickens as he has shown stalking behavior toward them. Gunner would thrive in a home where he gets to be involved in everyday family life and stay close to his people, he truly is a velcro dog at heart. A fenced yard is strongly recommended to keep him safe and happy. If you are looking for an affectionate, gentle dog who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Gunner would love to meet you. He knows his commands and plenty of extra tricks too! He&#39s also incredibly smart. He learned to walk beautifully on the leash, so strolls with him are the absolute pleasure. 20. Korra

Puppy · Female · Labrador Retriever / Mixed · 80 mi from Cleveland

A SWEET & JOYFUL PUPPY: Approx. 6 months old / Approx. 30 lbs. & growing

Read more about Korra

Hi, I'm Korra! I came to Mostly Mutts after finding myself at animal control. I'm not quite sure how I ended up there, but I'm so grateful to be safe and well cared for now. I'm a sweet, hopeful pup with my whole future ahead of me, and I can't wait to "rescue" my new family with lots of puppy love, happy adventures, and tail wags. I hope we meet very soon! There was an open spot so I've been selected to return to the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups immersive training experience off-site and am learning even more! Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I'm available to meet.

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them. I also went on a daytrip recently with my trainer and saw lots of dogs from a distance, showed some interest, but was very polite, even with those who barked at me . . . because I'm a very good girl! If you have a nice dog at home already that would like a puppy friend, let's meet! / Cats unknown. / I haven't met kids at Mostly Mutts, so let's meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I'm a very sweet pup, full of joy that I love to share with all the nice volunteers. When we go on walks, I like having my carrot toy with me—it helps keep my puppy teeth busy and makes me feel confident. I was a perfect angel pup for my bath. I stood very still and even gave kisses because I felt so safe. Afterward, I loved being held and carried around so I could look out the window and watch everything happening outside. I sat nicely for a treat, trying my best to be polite and show how good I can be. I'm sweet, friendly, and I really like toys, sometimes so much so that I may get a hand accidently while playing, so please trade me another toy for the one I have. I'm a happy, fun little girl who loves being close to you and exploring life one exciting step at a time. / Energy level: 8-9, of course this may change as I grow.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I'm a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts Prison Pups immersive training experience, so I've mastered the 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'come', 'drop it', 'leave it' and 'place' commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. I get excited at times and jump up or bite at my leash, but do well when carrying a toy. I will be working on this more in the off-site training program. Let's continue my training as there are more classes we can take together with the free lifetime training classes that Mostly Mutts offers for all their adopted dogs! I'm looking for a family that will teach me everything I need to know to grow up and become a wonderful adult dog—so get ready for some training with your new best friend. / My crate manners have been good at the shelter and in the off-site training program. / My potty manners have been good on the shelter schedule and in the off-site training program, with just a little excitement peeing at times. I'm sure this will lessen at I get more comfortable in new situations.

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I love toys, going for walks and being held like a baby to look out the window. I'm sure we'll find lots more things we enjoy doing together! / I can't think of things I don't like yet since I'm so young, though like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.

• MEDICAL: I've started my puppy shots, but you will have to finish these for me as I grow. I'm also micro-chipped and spayed.

If you're ready for the fun and excitement of having a puppy as well as the training commitment, then let's meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I'm located in Kennesaw, Ga.

21. Wiggy

Young (10 months) · Male · German Wirehaired Pointer / Mixed (medium coat) · 99 mi from Cleveland

Wiggy is the baby of Class 11 at just 9 months old and 39 pounds, and he is ALL puppy — happy, bouncy, goofy, energetic, and always ready to play. Peach and Kirby are his current partners in crime, and he thinks they are just fabulous.

He was surrendered to the shelter because he was having accidents in the house. . . at eight months old. We’ll give you a minute.

His former family said he’s a German Wirehaired Pointer, and we can definitely see it in that scruffy coat, face, and build. The cream-and-gold coloring is a bit of a plot twist, so who knows what else is mixed in there.

Whatever he is, he is RIDICULOUSLY cute, expected to top out around 55 pounds, and we have a sneaking suspicion this boy is going to have a fan club.

BUDDY is a courtesy listing, not in the AARF foster program, and we are posting online to help the owner find a home for them. Please visit http://aarf-tn.com/adopt/adoption-app/ to apply.

Read more about Buddy

Introducing Buddy! Buddy is around 1 yr old and weighs around 60lbs. He is the kind of dog who will remind you every day that love comes first. Still young at heart, Buddy is a smart, active shepherd, collie, and hound mix who loves having a job to do. Whether he's keeping an eye on the yard, exploring a trail, or riding along in the truck, he's happiest when he's with his people. Before he's ready for a meal, he's looking for a few pets and some attention from his favorite people, and that sweet habit says so much about who he is. He already knows "sit," walks nicely on a leash, and appears to be housetrained. He has also done well with the senior dog in his current home and has formed a deep bond with the family who rescued him. Buddy has plenty of energy and would love a home where he can run, play, and continue learning through positive training. A fenced yard or a home with room to explore would suit him well, and he seems like a great match for someone who enjoys hiking or country living. He has shown a strong instinct to chase cats and passing motorcycles, so a home without cats and with a secure place to play would help him succeed. Storms can be scary for him, and he appreciates reassurance when the weather turns rough. After being found as a stray, Buddy has blossomed into a loyal, affectionate companion with a goofy side that keeps everyone smiling. He's ready to trade his temporary porch for a forever one where he can be part of the family, inside the home and close to the people he loves. Buddy is neutered, up to date on vaccines and has been treated for fleas. Contact us for more information on adopting Buddy.

25. Ted Mosby

Young (11 months) · Male · Great Pyrenees / Mixed · 83 mi from Cleveland

Meet Ted Mosby: The Ultimate Gentle Giant!

If you are looking for the absolute definition of a gentle giant, your search ends here! Ted Mosby is a stunning, 1-year-old Great Pyrenees, looking for a family of his very own.

Why Ted is Absolute Perfection:

Read more about Ted Mosby

Kid-Approved: Ted recently lived with a newborn and a 2-year-old child, and he was nothing short of a saint. He is remarkably slow, calm, and gentle with little ones.
Dog Social & Playful: He LOVES other dogs! Ted would be happiest in a home with a canine sibling to play with and to keep him company when his humans are out.
The Ultimate Couch Potato: Don't let his majestic size fool you - Ted’s favorite hobby is lounging. He is fully house-trained and knows how to relax in style. He has no idea he isn’t your typical ‘lap dog’.
Everyone’s Best Friend: Ted loves every single human he meets. He’s a total lover boy with zero bad bones in his big, fluffy body.

Why He's Looking for a New Adventure:

Teddy was previously adopted by a wonderful family, but sadly, the resident cats were simply not fans of the gentle giant. When the cats ran, Ted's natural instincts kicked in and he chased them (purely out of a desire to play, but the felines disagreed!). Through no fault of his own, Ted is back on the market looking for a cat-free home where he can stretch out, cuddle, and live his best life.

The Ideal Home:

No cats, please!
A family with another dog for him to play with and buddy up to.
Plenty of couch space and endless love to give this big goofball.

Ted Mosby is the full package: handsome, sweet, well-mannered, and endlessly affectionate. He will make an incredible addition to any lucky family. Come meet your new best friend today!

A GENTLE & SENSITIVE FELLOW: Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 53 lbs.

Hi there, I'm Atlas! I came to Mostly Mutts when I found myself in need of a new home & family. I'm glad to be here & I am enjoying my time in a wonderful calm & quiet type of foster home while I wait to meet my new family. While I don't recall my past, I'm blossoming every day as my confidence grows & my sweet, gentle nature shines through.

Read more about Atlas

• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts & liked them. I play with dogs often in my foster home, & I’m still learning to read other dogs' signals, but I respond well when another dog lets me know they've had enough. My favorite games are playing with toys together, running & chasing each other around & especially "catch me if you can." My foster thinks I'd enjoy a doggie companion, so if you have a dog at home already, let's meet! / Cats unknown. / I met a respectful boy & girl around 10 years old in my foster home & did well with them. Playing with them was nice too, so let's meet & best no young kids that I may bump over, & I don't think I'd do well with loud or rambunctious kids as I'm a sensitive soul.

• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: My foster family has enjoyed watching my playful nature blossom, as I was a little nervous when I first came to them, but now, I love being with my fosters & being part of a family. I follow my foster mom around more than my dad, but I tend to check on him & happily accept pets from him too. I love being near my people but am perfectly happy to nap in the same room if they are working. Do you need a home office buddy? I'm cautious with new or unfamiliar people & like to just observe & figure them out before I totally trust them. In my new home, if you have a fenced yard, I’d love for you to come outside with me while I’m settling in & getting comfortable in my new surroundings. I'm a quiet, sensitive sweetheart ready to find my new home. My foster says I'm a "really nice balance between playful & easygoing". / Energy level: 5-6.

• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: So far, I know the 'down', 'stay', 'come' & 'place' commands & you can teach me even more. I've also learned how to go up & down stairs in my foster home. Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so let's continue my training together. / My fosters don't crate me as I don’t need a crate in their home. / My potty manners are very good in my foster home—hopefully, that will be the case in. my new home, too!

• LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy gentle attention, cuddling & petting, & belly rubs. Spending time outside in the fenced yard with my people is a favorite of mine, & I really enjoy quietly exploring while keeping an eye on my surroundings & sniffing some flowers. Mealtime is always something I look forward to! I enjoy playing with toys & chasing a tennis ball! I enjoy hikes & walks. After a walk or hike with my foster, I sit patiently on the rug by the door for my foster to take off my leash before I go lie down. I enjoy going for car rides & I haven't been bothered by thunderstorms or walks in the rain & a shower is just fine with me. / Other than needing some gentle patience as I get to know people, I can't think of any dislikes, however like all dogs, I'm sure I wouldn't like it if I didn't get enough love, attention, exercise, & training.

• MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped & neutered. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet & consider a dental cleaning in the future. I take an over-the-counter probiotic daily for good digestion.

I'm looking for a calm, patient family who will give me the time & love I need, & in return, I'll reward you with unwavering loyalty, a gentle heart, & a lifetime of devoted companionship. My adoption fee is $299.00, & I'm located in Kennesaw, Ga.

Bowie came to us with his siblings and mama when they were little puppies. He got adopted as a young pup but was unfortunately returned to us a couple months later after his people broke up and nobody wanted to keep him. He was returned to us where he is now starting to grow up. He gets along with all the dogs and isn&#39t as much of a pushover as he used to be, he isn&#39t scared to play with his friends now and also loves to say hello to his people with a big hug. Bo bo has a great &#34howl bark&#34 and will definitely let you know when someone arrives! He may bark through the fence as new strangers because he is scared, but as soon as you open the gate, he is ready to say hello and get pets. Adopting a large dog in Cleveland

Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.

Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
