He is a puppy that will warm your heart and make coming home just more exciting at the end of your day. This adorable Beagle mix puppy, Hound Dog Hank, is 14 weeks old and weighs 12 pounds of pure cuteness. Destined to be a 25 pound boy, he is a gentle and smart little guy with a true joy for life. Not housebroken yet and is learning the timing and ropes of going outside, this boy can be crated with just a few minutes of protest and then he settles down.

BIO: Toby was turned over to us by another rescue after being returned for a severe ear infection. The infection has been fully treated, but they felt we could better find him a forever home due to his Dachshund mix. We are conducting a DNA test to determine his exact mix.
Toby gets along well with other dogs but can be hand-shy when someone reaches over his head. This may be due to past experiences, so his adopter should be patient and understanding. Since joining our rescue, he has grown more trusting and is becoming less fearful. He loves to play ball and enjoys the game, even if he doesn’t always bring it back.
Our must haves for Toby are:
A fenced in yard
Another senior dog to hang around with
Someone that is retired and can spend time with him as he loves his humans once he trusts
No apartments, high rises or condos and he does like to bark at things
If you think you can give this sweet boy a home, then reach out to the rescue. He deserves a good home because we are not sure he’s had that.

BIO: Meet Roxy. What a sweet girl!!
Roxy is such a sweet girl! She is a retired breeder, but that hasn’t stopped her from exploring her new surroundings and learning new things.
Roxy will need another small dog in the home to help her continue learning how to be a dog. Her adoptive family must understand that she will need time to get comfortable with her people, but watching her progress will be incredibly rewarding.
Being all dachshund, she will bark at strangers until she knows they are friendly and willing to give her some attention. Roxy is crate trained and uses a doggie door to go potty outside. She loves being outdoors, exploring all the smells, and is doing great walking alongside two big neighborhood dogs

6. Brittany
Young · Female · Beagle (short coat) · 28 mi from Murfreesboro

This beautiful purebred Beagle girl called Brittany is our pride and joy to offer to a Beagle loving family. Her story is sad and one that will make you sad and mad all rolled in to one roller coaster of emotions. A young newly wed couple were driving from their home in Chattanooga, on their way to a honeymoon in Nashville, TN. Out of the corner of their eye while driving, they saw a truck pulled over and pushing this girl out onto the side of the road and then drive away. They owned two dogs of their own and it broke their heart to see such meanness. She was in a desperate situation. They pulled over and took her in to their car and then started making calls to shelters and rescues in the Nashville area where they were destined to arrive in a few hours.
Read more about Brittany
They got Critter Cavalry on the phone and we stepped up to take her in immediately and we would make sure she had a future family who would never do such a horrible thing as to abandon her. What we have found out with Brittany is that she is a happy and inviting girl who loves to play with other dogs and who loves to spoken to with kindness. She craves love which we are sure she got little of before. Her fav game is to chase a ball. She is young as in probably a year or 2 at the oldest and she weighs 26 pounds. She is being spayed 10/23 and has already started her shots and worming. She is picture perfect if you want a Beagle or small dog that is not tiny but resilient and fun and loving. We know she loves couches and dog company for playtime and hanging out. She’s housebroken and will definitely need a fenced yard to keep that Beagle nose safely within sight of your back door.
Just contact Critter Cavalry at ccrtennessee@gmail.com
PLEASE NOTE: Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region. Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.

THIS BOY IS GORGEOUS!! He's also a goof ball!
BIO: Winston came from a severe hoarding situation where he was locked in a kennel with three inches of waste. Considering everything he has been through, he’s a friendly boy that loves people (once he warms up within minutes) and toys. He will also play with other small dogs but is also fine with bigger dogs as well.
His only issue is he does have some separation anxiety so he would need to be crated should you leave the house. We think that’s why it’s important to have another dog in the household and you to know how to help him over his anxiety. This boy is so worth the effort. He’s a happy and loving boy and would be great with several children over the age of 8 yrs. Younger than that he might knock them over in his joy of playing or just happy to be a part of a family. Give him a chance, won’t you?
Our must haves for him are:

Another young dog to play with. He loves to play

10. Maple-Petite 16 Lbs.
Adult · Female · Terrier / Mixed · 28 mi from Murfreesboro

Meet Maple — A Little Terrier With a BIG Heart!Maple is one of those special dogs who seems to love everyone she meets. At 8 years old and 16 pounds, this sweet Terrier mix has the most loving heart and an easygoing, happy personality that makes her an absolute joy to be around. She especially adores children and would love to be part of a family where she can stay busy, have adventures, and then curl up with her people when the day is done.Maple is the total package when it comes to the important stuff—she is house trained and crate trained, and she is ready to be your devoted companion from day one.
Read more about Maple-Petite 16 Lbs.
She does pull a little on the leash because she gets excited about all the wonderful things there are to see and smell, but she loves going for walks and is eager to explore. With some consistent training and a confident handler, we think she will learn those leash manners in no time. And Maple is definitely not looking for a life spent sitting on the couch all day! This girl has energy and she wants to use it. She loves hiking, running with her person, going for long walks, and simply being outside enjoying the world. A securely fenced yard is required because she loves having the freedom to safely run and explore off leash. Her recall still needs some work, so her future family will need to continue working with her on that. The perfect family for Maple would be active people who enjoy getting outside and want a four-legged adventure buddy. She would be wonderful for someone who hikes, runs, walks regularly, or simply wants a dog who is excited to join them in an active lifestyle. She could thrive with a single person, a couple, or a family with older children. But here’s the best part about Maple: once she has had her exercise, explored the world, and spent time with her people, she is perfectly happy to settle down and cuddle. She has that wonderful Terrier spirit during the day and turns into the sweetest snuggle buddy when it’s time to relax. ❤️Maple is ready for someone who will give her the active, happy life she deserves—and in return, she will give you companionship, laughter, loyalty, and plenty of love.If Maple sounds like your kind of girl, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.

Meet Chloe & Marley — 18 pounds of personality between them! These two little cuties came to Russell Rescue together, and they are just about as adorable as they come.Chloe is a tiny 7-pound girl, estimated to be between 8–11 years old. She is spunky, curious and full of personality. She loves treats, toys, exploring and finding the perfect cozy spot to settle in.Marley is about 11 pounds and around the same age. He has tons of energy and enthusiasm. He loves going for walks, snuggling, eating (an important hobby!) and curling up for a good nap when the fun is over. Both are great with other dogs and have adjusted beautifully to being part of a pack. They came into rescue together and would love to find a home together, but we also want to find the right situation for each of them.If you have a soft spot for little dogs with BIG personalities, Chloe and Marley might just be your perfect match. They are available through Russell Rescue of Tennessee.

Please share and help us find these two the homes they deserve!#RussellRescueTN #AdoptDontShop #FosterDogs #RescueDogs #NashvilleDogs #TennesseeDogsMeet Marley and Chloe! Their previous owner told us they’re 11 years old, but I’m going to need her to check her math—because there is NO WAY. These two have more pep and personality than dogs half their age. Marley is about 13 pounds and runs around like a puppy. He’s happy, healthy, and just an all-around fun little guy. He loves going for walks, snuggling, eating (of course), and settling in for a good nap when the excitement is over. And then there’s Chloe—or Chloe 2, as we call her—because she looks almost exactly like a Chloe I fostered for well over a year. She’s a tiny 7-pound ball of spunk. She runs along the back of the couch, prances around the house, loves her treats and munchies, and happily entertains herself with toys. Both are great with other dogs and have settled in beautifully. They even slept comfortably in separate crates. Ideally, we’d love to see Marley and Chloe adopted together, but unlike some bonded pairs I’ve fostered, they don’t seem overly dependent on each other. I do think they could be happy adopted separately into the right homes. They are seriously the funnest, sweetest little things—and apparently no one has told them they’re supposed to be seniors. Chloe/Lightning is the female/spayed. She weighs approximately 7lbs. Her only issue currently is she does need MPLs on both knees....though she still gets around well, though sometimes stairs prove a bit difficult.Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. BIO: Dolly and Patsy came from West Tennessee when the owner went through a major life change and could no longer keep them. Several dogs were surrendered to us that day, but Dolly and Patsy just have to stay together.
They love each other, play together, and sleep together, though they cannot eat together (Patsy eats with a slow bowl; Dolly eats slowly). They do everything together, and we just could not separate them, so if you are looking for a pair/instant family, you have found them. They are both happy and friendly; it might take a minute for them to warm up, but not much longer than that.
They love playing with toys and seeing what trouble they can get into, so pick up anything that falls on the floor because it will be theirs. They love doing zoomies in the fenced yard in the morning and running in and out of the house; it would be great if you had a doggie door.
If you want these two to be yours, fill out the online application and select their names from the drop-down box.
Our must-haves for this dynamic duo include:
A fenced yard
Someone who is home more often than not
If you have another dog, then he/she must be 3 years and under since both these ladies love to play
No apartment, high-rises, or condos (anything with shared walls)
Active family ONLY, as they are not couch potatoes
If you decide to adopt these two and you are approved, this will be the best thing that has happened and will happen in your life. They will give you years of enjoyment, fun, and laughter!
============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============
AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten.
If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.
We cannot adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures.
To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

RESCUE #: 2026-07-22-01
BIO UPDATE (9/28/2026): It has been such a joy to watch sweet Roxie settle into her foster home and blossom. She is happiest outdoors, running through the yard, playfully chasing squirrels and birds, and barking when she sees deer in the woods. She shares a special bond with her foster sisters and truly enjoys being with them. Since coming into foster care, Roxie has lost 2 more pounds and is looking slimmer and healthier but losing maybe another 1 ½ lbs would be perfect. She may always have her sweet, sturdy little build, and that is one of the many things that makes her special.
BIO: Roxie came from Alabama. She is a shy girl at first, but once she warms up to you, she’s your friend for life and will follow you all over the house and yard. Roxie is a bit of a picky eater but may have been fed table food, which is why she’s not crazy about dog food.
Roxie is great with other dogs, male and female, but we do not know about cats. So it is best not to try to adopt her if you have a cat. She has been accustomed to her previous owner being home all the time, so she may have to adjust if you work out of the home. It would help having another small, young dog for her to hang with.
Our must-haves for pretty Miss Roxie are:
A fenced yard
Another young small dog
Someone who can be home more often than not
No apartments, high-rises, or condos
If you think Roxie would be a good fit for your home and you meet our requirements, please apply to adopt her. She truly is a sweet girl, but you must be willing to help her lose the weight she needs to be at her best weight.

BIO Update (10/10/2026): This handsome pup is a bit of a velcro dog in the best sense of the word. Henry loves being around his person. If you are engaged in a task he will understand and give you that space, he just wants to be near. This little guy is highly protective of his person. He bonds with a person and that is HIS person. More on that in a bit. Henry is not a picky eater. He has had very, very few potty accidents in the house. He loves to burrow and sleeps well throughout the night. And as a special bonus, he can pose like a Meerkat!
The things to be aware: Henry is a counter surfer. He loves being on top of things. Check out some of the new pictures where he has managed to get atop of the sofa or recliner. Be aware that he is curious and you should make sure that chairs are pushed fully under a table lest his curiosity gets the best of him. He will investigate what’s on top of that table!!!
Henry’s most serious tendency is that he is not a fan of strangers. New dogs are not a problem. New people can be a challenge. He is somewhat picky in that regard though. The HVAC technician or the house cleaner? You had better prepare for that by putting him in his kennel or having him outside in the fenced yard that is a rock-solid requirement. As mentioned earlier, you will be Henry’s special person. He will tolerate that person that you have in your home on a regular basis. Be aware that this will take patience and a number of visits to get him familiar. His foster dad has a dog sitter that comes to the house when needed and she and Henry have become fast friends. She is in an elite class though and a dachshund savvy sitter.
Henry, deep down, is a really sweet dog who does not make a great first impression. The person who takes the time to understand and love him will be rewarded with a sweet dog that will be forever loyal to them. Could you be the person that gives him that chance?
BIO: Henry was adopted out in 2020 and, through no fault of his own, was returned to our rescue. Henry needs a strong pack leader and someone who will work with him, as he is not fond of strangers and will voice his opinion.
With his family, he is very loving and loyal and deserves a chance to have a last forever home.
Our must-haves for handsome Henry include:
A fenced yard
A quiet home with few visitors
Someone who will work with him on walks to get his weight down
He would be fine with another small senior pet
No apartments, high-rises, or condos, as he will bark at outside noises
If you think you can give Henry the kind of home he needs, then contact his foster mom at aadrpresident@gmail.com. He will require some work, but he’s very loyal and loving.
