2. Nya
Adult · Female · Shepherd / Mixed

Meet Nya, a 2.5-year-old sweetheart who is goofy, gentle, and happiest when she gets to be part of whatever her people are doing. She was found as a stray and landed at Dallas Animal Services before being given a second chance in foster care. Since then, Nya has shown just how adaptable and affectionate she is. She does well with kids and other dogs, though she tends to prefer hanging out with her humans or doing her own thing rather than constantly playing.
Read more about Nya
Nya has a great balance of energy and downtime. She enjoys daily walks, sniffing around the neighborhood, chasing balls, and working on training, but she is also perfectly happy to nap while you work and curl up on the couch afterward. She is potty trained, has done well loose in the home, and knows several commands including sit, stay, down, shake, and place.
At home, Nya is an affectionate shadow with a silly streak. She loves treats, squeaky toys, cuddling, and keeping watch out the window for anything worth reporting. She is also an adventurous explorer, so a securely fenced yard is important, and small critters like squirrels, rabbits, and cats are definitely tempting. If you are looking for a sweet, playful dog who can join you for adventures and then happily settle in for a lazy evening, Nya may be your perfect match.
All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. 6. Delaney
Adult (2 years) · Female · Great Pyrenees (long coat)

Adopt Delaney! She is a very sweet Great Pyrenees with a tragic backstory. We believe she is around 2 yrs old, and is currently underweight at 65lbs, we are working on getting some weight on her.
Delaney was found stuck in a dumpster where she couldn't get out, we believe she went in looking for food. Her female Pyrenees companion (Lilly, also available for adoption with SPIN Rescue) was waiting outside the dumpster staying by Delaneys side. They were both covered in fleas and had clearly spent a lot of time on the streets together.
Read more about Delaney
Despite her history, Delaney is a happy affectionate dog that loves people, sometimes more than food! She is great with kids too. She lovings giving and getting love. She greets strangers with enthusiasm.
She takes treats gently and knows how to 'Sit'.
She is good with dogs of all sizes and even cats.
Sometimes Delaney needs some encouragement to come inside, but once you give her a little sweet talking she comes in with a tail wag and smile. When she gets overwhelmed she finds a little corner to tuck into but won't stay there for long.
She is great on a leash, does well with new people, kids and dogs she meets while out. She did really well at a brewery for our adoption event.
Delaney needs a little encouragement to load up into a car but then rides well, after realizing you don't need her help driving.
She is house trained and has a medium energy level.
Delaney is spayed. Her adoption fee is $250. She is currently in a foster home in Dallas / Ft Worth area of Texas. We do adopt out of state and can help arrange transport, adopters will be responsible for transportation costs.

10. Lilly
Adult (4 years 11 months) · Female · Great Pyrenees (long coat)

Meet Lilly! She is an incredibly sweet dog with a heartbreaking backstory. Estimated to be around 4-6 yrs old, she came into SPIN rescue clearly starving, very underweight at 70lbs, we think a healthy weight would be around 90-100lbs.
Lilly was found on the street near a dumpster. Her female Great Pyrenees companion (Delaney, also now with SPIN Rescue) had gotten stuck inside the dumpster and Lilly was loyal, staying nearby, waiting for her friend to be rescued.
Read more about Lilly
A vet has confirmed Lilly has had multiple litters of puppies in the past. We also believe she was abused at some point as she is very sensitive to pressure on her neck/collar and starts to panic. She has some scarring on her nose and legs, either from abuse or her time on the streets.
Now safe in her foster home, she has been the sweetest, calmest, most amazing dog.
She absolutely adores children and follows the 8yr boy around the house, he is her favorite. She has a very calm relaxed demeanor, low energy. She can be shy with adult strangers but once she realizes they are kind, she has loved everyone she's met. She does enjoy snuggling and will rest in your lap.
Lilly was reserved at first, but now thats she's getting more comfortable she has been more playful and even got the zoomies. She enjoys putting her feet in the pool.
She has been great with all dogs. Lilly will need another dog in her forever home, as she bonds strongly with dogs. (If you don't have one, you can also adopt Delaney, who she was found with)
Regarding cats, she has gotten better and now gets along well with cats on her foster home's property but is not a fan of strange cats. She does well with livestock too but is ready for the inside life.
She is mostly house trained, we think she will have it down by time she is adopted. We do not walk her on leash, as she is sensitive to pressure on the collar - she becomes scared and wants to get away. Fencing in her home will need to be secure as she can be a runner. She overall doesn't bark but when she does its justified.
Lilly has been through a lot in her life, she deserves the best. Her adopters will need to have some patience at first but she warms up quickly and will love you with all her heart.
Lilly is now spayed. Her adoption fee is $250. She is in a foster home in DFW area of Texas. We do adopt out of state and can recommend transport organizations.

17. Billie Jean
Young · Female · Bluetick Coonhound

Meet Billie Jean, a 1-year-old Blue Tick Coonhound mix who is playful, goofy, and always ready to be part of the action. She loves walks, treats, toys, and making the rounds to check in on all of her neighborhood friends. Billie does well with kids, cats, and other dogs, and especially enjoys having a playful canine buddy who can match her energy. She can be a little shy with new people or unfamiliar places, but once she warms up, she is incredibly sweet and affectionate.
Read more about Billie Jean
Billie is high-energy, treat-motivated, leash trained, and potty trained. She would happily walk the same two blocks all day if you let her, and she loves playing with other dogs. She does best with dogs who enjoy her lanky, enthusiastic play style and is very respectful when another animal gives her a correction. Billie would likely thrive in a home with another larger dog to help show her the ropes. She does have separation anxiety and can be quite vocal when left alone, so a home without shared walls would be ideal.
Billie came into care underweight and scared, and while she has made great progress, she will need a patient family willing to help her continue building confidence and security. She is also heartworm positive and has already completed the first half of treatment. Her future family will need to help her finish treatment with veterinary guidance, which is included in her adoption fee. If you are looking for a loyal shadow with velvet ears, a big personality, and a whole lot of love to give, Billie Jean may be your girl.

21. Wilson
Adult · Male · Yellow Labrador Retriever / Great Pyrenees / Mixed

Meet Wilson: a sweet soul looking for a little patience and a whole lot of love!
Wilson is an adult lab mix with a gentle heart. He's sharing his foster home with four other dogs and a 5-year-old boy, and he gets along wonderfully with everyone. His sweet, submissive nature makes him easy to root for, and even easier to love.
Wilson is still learning that a leash doesn't have to be scary. With support from his foster family and a trainer, he's working through that fear and building confidence. He's looking for a patient family who will continue that work, celebrate his progress, and let him learn at his own pace.
Read more about Wilson
A home with a securely fenced yard would be the best fit, giving Wilson room to enjoy being a dog while keeping everyday leash pressure low as he learns.
Wilson is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heart worm negative. All he's missing is a family to call his own.
If you have a little patience, a yard, and room in your heart for a sweet boy finding his courage, Wilson would love to meet you.

22. Livvy Lulu Coming Soon
Young (9 months) · Female · Siberian Husky (medium coat)

Livvy Lulu is an adorable 8–9-month-old husky girl weighing around 28–32 pounds, and she’s ready to show the world just how much love and personality she has to give. Livvy came into rescue in an emaciated condition, so her foster family is helping her safely gain weight and get stronger. Even after a difficult start, this silly puppy is full of joy, curiosity, and affection.
Livvy is wonderfully dog-friendly and loves all dogs. She also does well with cats and could happily be an only dog, making her a flexible fit for many different families. She’s best suited for a home with older children.
Read more about Livvy Lulu Coming Soon
This clever girl is house trained and crate trained. She’s surprisingly calm for a puppy, but she still loves to play, whether she’s entertaining herself, romping with another dog, or engaging with her people. Livvy is adventurous, athletic, playful, talkative, and wonderfully goofy. She’s also very smart and food-motivated, which should make training lots of fun.
Livvy absolutely loves to snuggle and will happily curl up with her favorite people after playtime. She has a sweet, affectionate nature with an independent little streak that gives her plenty of personality.
Livvy is currently working on feeling comfortable around her food bowl. She may growl when someone approaches while she’s eating, but she allows her foster family to touch the bowl and has not tried to bite. Her foster is working with her on this behavior, and she has no issues with treats or toys. Her future family should continue using patient, positive training and give her space while she eats.
Livvy Lulu hasn’t shown any interest in escaping the yard, but she’ll still need normal supervision and a secure outdoor area. With her loving personality, puppy silliness, and cuddly nature, Livvy is ready to find a family who will help her continue to thrive.
If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, snuggly puppy with a goofy side and lots of love to give, Livvy Lulu may be your perfect match.

He is ready for a family who will see the wonderful dog he is and give him the safe, loving home he deserves. In return, Peter will be a devoted companion and a cherished best friend.

25. Bailey
Adult (5 years) · Male · Great Pyrenees / Mixed (long coat)

Adopt Bailey! He is a male Great Pyrenees, around 4-6 years old and 90lbs. Found dumped in a rural neighborhood, his foster family took him in and got him healthy. Now he is looking for a forever home.
Bailey is very people friendly. He loves attention and belly rubs. He does well with kids and babies. With strangers he can be cautious or bark at first but quickly accepts love once he realizes they are kind.
Read more about Bailey
Bailey tolerates female dogs and will play well but he takes some time to warm up. Slow introductions are best. He has not done well with male dogs in the past, especially if they are not neutered. He has some leash reactivity to dogs while on walks.
He is indifferent to the neighborhood cats.
Overall he is a calm and lazy guy. Enjoys the occasional tug of war game with a rope toy. He is great about reading the room and matching your mood.
Bailey LOVES car rides and getting a pup cup at Starbucks. He even did great on a boat outing! He also does well at the groomers.
He is smart and has quickly picked up commands such as 'Sit', 'Stay', and 'Lay Down'. He's mastered the Pyr Paw and if that doesn't work, he will use his nose to lift your hand.
Like a typical Pyrenees, he does bark when people or dogs walk by the house. He is house trained, but has marked the house when anxious in the past.
Bailey is a loveable dog that just wants to be loved in return.
He is neutered and up to date on vaccines. His adoption fee is $250. Currently he is in a foster home in DFW area of Texas. We are happy to work with out of state adopters if they arrange their own transport.

Read more about Phoenix
Phoenix is around 14 to 15 weeks old. He’s had two rounds of shots dewormed several times has been being kept in Foster as an indoor family pet where he’s also become crate trained and 90% housebroken.
Phoenix is really playful. He has an above average energy level - it’s normal for a puppy. It’s just seven or eight out of 10. Phoenix absolutely loves playing with his little brother and the big Foster dogs that he’s been staying with!
Phoenix is smart and eager to please; he’s just learning some commands and all about fetch and retrieve.
Phoenix is also a cuddler; he’s still young enough of a puppy where he runs around for 15 or 20 minutes then he’s wiped out for a few hours for a good nap and there’s nothing he loves more than hanging with his humans!
Beautiful Phoenix will be at DASH in Dallas this weekend. We are hoping to find the right family for him for this Halloween and daylight savings weekend!

27. Petey
Senior · Male · Terrier

Meet Petey, a 5-year-old gentle giant who is happiest simply being close to his people. Petey is loving, affectionate, and incredibly easy to bond with. His love language is absolutely "your shadow," and if you are nearby, that is exactly where he wants to be. He is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and currently lives with two small dogs who he loves to play with. In his previous home, he also lived successfully with five cats, and he does well with kids too.
Read more about Petey
Petey has a nice balance of playful energy and calm downtime. He enjoys gentle wrestling, chasing around the yard, going for walks, chewing on bones or toys, and joining in whenever another dog wants to play. Once the fun is over, he settles easily and is perfectly happy lounging on his mat as long as his family is nearby. He is inquisitive, loves a new adventure, and seems to feel most secure when he knows he is part of the action.
Petey's story has had some unexpected turns. He was once scheduled for euthanasia at Dallas Animal Services before being adopted, but when his previous owner later lost his housing and could no longer care for him, Petey once again found himself needing a safe place to land. Through it all, he has remained an incredibly gentle, loving dog who bonds easily with both people and other pets.
His ideal home would include plenty of companionship, room to play, regular walks, lots of snuggle time, and possibly another dog or two to share life with. If you are looking for a sweet, social dog who wants nothing more than to love his family and be included in everything, Petey may be your perfect match.

28. Fletcher
Adult · Male · Doberman Pinscher / Mixed

Meet Fletcher, a 3-year-old big goofy lovebug who is equal parts playful, loyal, and snuggly. Fletcher was found abandoned at Lake Cliff Park, where he walked right up to his finder and her Labradors, started playing, and then happily followed them home. He has been charming everyone ever since.
Read more about Fletcher
Fletcher is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and great with both dogs and kids. He loves people and wants to be wherever his family is. He is always up for a walk, a game of ball, or some backyard zoomies, but he also knows how to settle down and enjoy a good nap or cuddle session. His favorite things include treats, chew toys, antlers, and especially stuffed toys, which he loves to carry around and snuggle with.
His perfect day starts with a morning walk and breakfast, followed by some serious nap time. He is happy to head outside around lunch, enjoys a bigger afternoon walk, and then settles in for dinner and more snuggles before sleeping in his crate at night. Fletcher is not over-the-top high energy, but he definitely has a silly side and can get wonderfully goofy when playtime starts.
More than anything, Fletcher is just a genuinely sweet dog. He has done beautifully with every person and dog he has met and bonds closely with his people. If you are looking for a loyal companion who can make you laugh, join you on adventures, and then curl up beside you at the end of the day, Fletcher may be your guy.

29. Yuki
Puppy · Female · Hound / Mixed

Still a youngster, Yuki has a mix of basic skills she's tackled, and a few more she will learn with the support of a loving and dedicated family. She's been with both adults and kids, and she's adapted well to the routine of having to take care of business on a schedule.
Partly due to her young age, she gets excited while on walks and when around other dogs. She's getting better with a guiding hand on the other end of her leash who wants to help her become her best self. Yuki wants to be a wonderful companion for a family who enjoys daily walks, whether around her neighborhood or out in the big, beautiful world.
Read more about Yuki
Playtime also matters to her. Squeaky toys and bouncy balls are Yuki favorites and she'll even play by herself for a while. But when her people walk in the door, she's there to welcome them home. It's like she's already a member of the family.

Adopting a dog in Dallas County
Most rescues ask you to fill in an application, meet the dog, and pay an adoption fee that usually covers spaying or neutering, vaccinations and a microchip. Many are foster-based, so you'll often meet your dog in a volunteer's home rather than a shelter.
Senior dogs are often the calmest companions and the slowest to find homes. If you'd like a settled, affectionate dog, ask the rescues about their older residents.
Puppies go quickly, so if you've fallen for one, contact the rescue soon. Ask how big they're expected to grow, and plan for plenty of house-training and training in the first few months.
