1. Arthur
Adult (5 years 1 month) · Male · Poodle (Standard) / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (medium coat) · 48 mi from New Braunfels

Arthur is wondering what happened to his person.
Once upon a time, Arthur was someone's emotional support dog. He knew what it meant to belong to someone, to be loved, and to have a person by his side. Now, at the rescue, he spends so much of his time crying. It's heartbreaking to watch a dog who once had a purpose and a person feel so lost.
Arthur is a gentle, calm soul who absolutely loves people and gets along well with other dogs. He isn't asking for much. Just a comfortable place to lay his head, a little companionship, and someone who won't leave him alone for most of the day.
Read more about Arthur
We think Arthur would be a wonderful companion for a senior or someone who is home more often than not. He doesn't need a busy household or endless adventures. He just needs YOU.
Can you imagine spending your golden years in a shelter, crying because the person you once loved is gone? Arthur deserves to know that he hasn't been forgotten. ❤️
Please, someone give Arthur his second chance at having a person.
Apply to foster or adopt Arthur at www.adoggie4you.org.

2. Duke
Adult · Male · Rottweiler (short coat) · 43 mi from New Braunfels

Looking for a fabulous family dog? Look no further, DUKE is your dude!!! Seriously this is a great family pet who loves kids and his people. We are in disbelief at his cool and calm temperament, soooo cool and calm. He has been tested around some dogs that are dog reactive and bark, bark, bark. DUKE never flinches or acknowledges they are even there, they get in his face and DUKE just turns around and goes in the other direction.
DUKE is 4 years old and 80 pounds, a few pounds underweight but he is making up for it. DUKE was found in a subdivision next to his own subdivision. He is microchipped and every attempt was made to reach his family by social media, phone, text and even visited his home but they would not respond.
Read more about Duke
So we are like okay let us see why they no longer want DUKE. But DUKE is perfect really a perfect pet. In several weeks we have not found any faults except he just loves to hang with his humans and that is a great fault.
He is not aggressive in any area and do not resource guard things or humans and of course he gets along with everyone. He had a growth on his eye that has been removed and that is why his right eye looks a little hinky. He is healthy in all areas, walks great on a leash without pulling, just walks right beside you at your pace and he rides in a car without getting sick, jumps right in.
If you want to spend your days hanging out with a happy companion pet, DUKE is your guy. If you are interested in adopting DUKE, please submit an application on the website below or contact his foster mom. Thank you.

3. Amanda
Adult · Female · Poodle (Standard) (medium coat) · 43 mi from New Braunfels

AMANDA is a beautiful AKC Registered Parti-Poodle, Standard. She is 5 years old and 50 pounds. This is a very well behaved dog who walks great on a leash and rides in the car without getting sick, she just looks out of the window. My 10 year old granddaughter was able to handle her on a daily basis with ease.
AMANDA lost her human mom and was rehomed along with her sister to people who just did not want to care for her so they surrendered her to our organization.
She makes a great companion and gets along with larger dogs but she should not be in a home with smaller breed dogs, other than that she plays very well with medium and large breed dogs.

I do not have any cats in my home so I do not know how she would react to them.
These pictures do not show how beautiful and kind hearted she is. I will try to take more that show how amazing she is.
If you are interested in adopting AMANDA, please submit an application on the website below or feel free to call me. Thank you.

4. Remi
Senior (11 years 5 months) · Female · Shepherd / Mixed (short coat) · 48 mi from New Braunfels

Meet Remi
After 11 years with her family, Remi was returned back to us. At her age, she deserves a quiet, loving home where she can spend her senior years feeling safe, comfortable, and loved.
Remi is a very sweet girl who will grab everyone's attention. She enjoys relaxing on her bed and would do best in a laid-back home without a lot of chaos. She is looking for someone who will love and care for her through her final years.
Read more about Remi
Remi is a senior dog, so her new family will need to understand and be prepared for the care that comes with her age. We have completed radiographs and bloodwork, including our standard senior panel that we do for all of our elderly dogs here, to ensure they are healthy to be adopted and any proper medications needed.
Remi is already spayed and microchipped and is current on her vaccines, ProHeart 12, and Bravecto. Her 4DX test did come back positive for heartworm and Ehrlichia. She is already receiving treatment for both. With the treatment, she should test negative within approximately 8–10 months. Further information on both can be found at https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/
Remi is also currently taking thyroid medication for low thyroid levels and will need continued medication and monitoring.
After spending 11 years with a family, Remi shouldn't have to wonder where she belongs. She deserves a loving home where she can relax on her bed, be spoiled, and enjoy the time she has left.
Adoption fee: $150 Apply to adopt Remi at www.adoggie4you.org

6. Noodles
Adult · Male · Poodle (Standard) / Mixed (medium coat) · 43 mi from New Braunfels

This very mellow fellow is the greatest mild mannered companion you would want. He knows all of his commands and very smart to learn more. NOODLES is 2 years old and 55 pounds. He was abandoned in a city park by his owners and they must have loved him at one point and spent a lot of time with him because he is very into his humans, knows commands and well behaved. Unfortunately he was very matted and needed to be shaved down to make him feel better instead of properly groomed.
He walks very well on a leash and rides in the car without getting sick. He is not high energy but he really enjoys going on walks and he does not pull the leash.

This dog is in a foster home in San Antonio, TX. Prospective adopters must be able to travel to San Antonio to complete the adoption process. Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/
Meet Stella! This gorgeous black and tan Great Dane is just 15 months old and already weighs 120+ pounds — and she's still growing! Don’t let her giant size fool you though, Stella is truly a big sweetheart who simply loves being around her people.
Read more about Stella
Stella came to us from a single mom and her young daughter who loved her dearly but simply didn't have the time a young Great Dane needs. Now she's looking for a forever family ready to give her the love, attention, and companionship she deserves.
This playful girl gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes and especially loves wrestling with her larger dog friends. Because she enjoys a good play session, a home with another playful dog that likes to wrestle would be right up her alley. Cats are currently unknown.
Stella is already checking all the boxes too — she's kennel trained, house broken, knows how to use the dog door, and absolutely loves car rides. She can be a little vocal when she gets excited, but that's just part of her big personality shining through.
If you're looking for a loving, playful, oversized best friend who wants to be involved in everything you do, Stella may be the perfect addition to your family!
Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for her entire life (up to 15+ years or more.)
You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization.
Her adoption fee is $350. This includes her spay surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccination, Nobivac® Intra-Trac 3 vaccination, Drontal® Plus, IDEXX SNAP® 4Dx Plus Test, Tri-Heart® Plus chewable tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar.
Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org.
Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references.

The story broke hearts across the internet—and ours too.

11. Kota
Young · Male · Labrador Retriever / German Shepherd Dog (medium coat) · 32 mi from New Braunfels

Welcome Kota to CCPAL Rescue. Kota is a 1-year-old and weighs 65 pounds. He is smart, social and outgoing. He is the most active of the two in the litter. He is a bit more shy than his brother Tug. He would do great with an active and outdoorsy family wanting a companion that has the stamina and energy to go with you. He got lots of time being held as a puppy so he does love people. Our kennel staff love Kota and he is really doing good with his leash training. He will sit and makes good eye contact. His breed is Lab/German Shepherd. These were in foster care until they were vaccinated and ready to come to the rescue.
Read more about Kota
They have had lots of attention from humans which is wonderful. It creates a wonderful puppy that loves humans and their attention. These puppies are smart, soft coats and most have the lab personality with the smartness of the Malinois. Kota is a smart boy and would be great dog for a man. He would love good direction and someone that is confident. This would allow Kota to let his owner be in charge. Both dogs would be great family pets. They can go with children and should be good with them. We like the children to be 8 or older. Young dogs are best with people that are home some and not gone 8 hours every day to work. Tug will need to finish up his training, and it would be best if he gets to spend time with his human so he can bond deeply with them. He does not mess up his kennel and goes in his outside kennel to go to the bathroom. Kota is playing in his play group of 6 puppies. The boys are all bigger than the girls. He also gets to play outside in his play group and does well in a group. He has good recall when he is off leash and likes treats. These puppies have webbed feet and should be good swimmers. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the east Coast. 16. Hunter
Adult · Rottweiler (medium coat) · 43 mi from New Braunfels

Say hello to HUNTER, a 90 pounds big ole playful and happy guy, really he is so happy and loves to play with the other dogs. HUNTER can be submissive believe it or not with his big self. But sometimes when the other dogs play too rough, HUNTER retreats away from the rough housing.
HUNTER is 5 years old and previously owned but somehow ended up on the streets of San Antonio, TX and picked up as a stray landing him in our city's very high-kill shelter. His owners did not come for him, sad. But we hope to make HUNTER have a happy ending by finding him a loving home he can relax in. He is very mellow and so obedient.
He is healthy and had a few teeth that needed to be removed that made his jaw swollen and look crooked.

Actually he still has a front tooth that sticks out and just makes him unique looking. HUNTER would make a great family pet and he is a true Rottweiler who thinks he is a lap dog.

17. Buttercup
Adult · Rottweiler · 43 mi from New Braunfels

BUTTERCUP has been waiting for a home way too long to be such a smooth and friendly and playful girl. She gets along with all of the dogs and plays nicely, she is obedient and easy to train. Right now she does not know any commands except "sit & off". The only exposure she has had with cats is the outdoor cats that pass by, she is curious about them but has no aggression towards them.
BUTTERCUP is 2 years old and weighs 75 pounds and originally was picked up from the streets of San Antonio, TX and ended up in our very high-kill shelter. We rescued her from a sure death because as you know her breed is considered a bully breed. A bully she is NOT, just a playful 2 year old who wants to have fun and enjoys walking. She does not get car sick.

Adopting a large dog in New Braunfels
Large dogs need room to stretch out and plenty of exercise: at least one good walk a day, and a secure yard is a bonus. Check your lease too, as some landlords limit the size or breed of dog.
Start training from day one. A big dog who walks nicely on a leash and doesn't jump up is a pleasure to live with, and many rescues can recommend a local trainer.
